Samsung Galaxy S5 Screen Has Yellow Lines After Waking Phone Issue & Other Related Problems

#Samsung is one of the Android manufacturers that uses a Super AMOLED display on their high end devices. The #Galaxy #S5 for example uses a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED screen that has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. While this pixel count is not as high as what we have on the current generation flagship models it is still quite impressive. The colors are vibrant making images on the screen stand out. Three years after its initial release this particular model is still being widely used although some phone owners are now having issues with it which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S5 screen has yellow lines after waking phone issue & other related problems.

S5 Screen Has Yellow Lines After Waking Phone

Problem: Hello, my name is Sunè. I have a problem with my phone where, when I press the power button the screen turns off. (Not the phone, the screen) When I press the power button or home button gain to acres my phone again. It’s brings up a whole heap of yellow lines across my screen, then it’s a crossed if it presses the power button again by itself. I have to do this multiple times before it will across and allow me to access my password so I can use my phone. It doesn’t shut my phone down or restarts it or anything. It just simple refuses to let me use it. (How can I explain this more detailed) I took a screenshot of this happening, but the screenshot didn’t actually captured what was happening. Yet I screenshotted it as it was happening (the yellow lines across my screen). It’s as if it’s the glass itself. Then I press the power button/home button to try and access my phone. Then my screen goes black. Then it does the yellow lines again and repeats this at least 7-10 times before I can obviously put my pass code in and do what I need to do. Before it just does it again.

Solution: Here’s what you need to do for this particular problem. First, you will need to backup your phone data. Once you have made a copy of your phone data you should then perform a factory reset. As soon as the reset is complete do not install anything in your phone just yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then it could be caused by any of the following factors.

  • A faulty display assembly
  • A loose connection between the display assembly and the phone’s motherboard.

If this is the case then I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Screen Keeps Flickering

Problem: My screen keeps flickering and sometimes stops coming on so i have to take the battery out a couple times. I tried doing that developer thing and now it says ‘you are now a developer’ tried everything

Solution: Have you tried turning off the auto brightness setting of your phone? If not then try doing it as sometimes a faulty sensor will make the screen flicker since it is always trying to adjust the screen brightness level. You should also try setting the brightness level to its maximum setting and check if the problem still occurs. If it does then perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of the phone from recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Freezes when Typing Or Opening Apps

Problem: Good Day, I am using a Galaxy S5 16G and I am facing problems. it is currently with 13.15GB used of 16.00GB. The freezes when I am typing or even when checking opening any other application.

Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try removing this as this might be causing the problem.

If your phone does not have a microSD card or if the issue still occurs even after removing the microSD card then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Try to check if the issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • As a last resort, backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S5 Screen Automatically Scrolls Down

Problem: When I go into “Setup”, the setup options screen automatically scrolls down to the bottom of the list.  When I try to scroll back up, it will quickly jump back to the bottom.  It just started this in the last few weeks.  I’ve had my Samsung Galaxy S5 for  2 or 3 years with no problems.  I’ve done the “soft reset”, but this didn’t solve my problem.  Any help appreciated.

Solution: You should check if the issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then it’s very likely caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. In case the problem still occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Screen Is Flickering Bright Green

Problem: Flickering bright green screen or black or no response at all. Also my phone has slowed down greatly. It’s 1 year old. Version 5.0 galaxy s5.

Solution: Since your phone is experiencing multiple issues such as having an unresponsive screen having a black screen, and having a bright green screen I recommend that you do a factory reset from the recovery mode. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. If the issue still occurs even after the reset then I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Screen Is Glitching

Problem: Screen Works only when it wants to glitching also I Haven’t had this phone very long do not have insurance works just fine other than the screen bouncing back and forth. Remove screen protector wiped with cloth still having issues..No cracks no damage I and the only owner of this device

Solution: What kind of glitching are you experiencing on your device? Is the screen flickering? Or are apps opening and closing? Id the screen unresponsive? If you are experiencing any of the issue listed then your best option is to do a factory reset from the recovery mode. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. If the problem still occurs even after the reset then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Stuck On Samsung Logo

Problem: i was updating the software and the screen went dead, i reboot my phone by removing battery and when i put it back and switch the phone on it only blinks “SAMSUNG” on the screen. i waited and waited but no change

Solution: If your phone is stuck n the boot logo then chances are this could just be a software related issue. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this problem. Check if the issue still occurs after performing a step then move to the next one if it does.

  • Remove the battery and microSD card of your phone ( if you have one installed). Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then turn on the phone.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
