Note 4 Firmware upgrade encountered an issue please select recovery mode in Kies

Problem: I have a Galaxy Note 4 that continued to power off and at random. I tried backing up my device, doing a factory reset, and all of that good jazz that I could possibly think to do. I realized there was nothing left I could do because it became stuck on the installing, do not power off screen. So I took it to a local repair shop that ensured me it could be fixed by flashing it. However, they later informed me that it could not be fixed and it is now stuck on “Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.” I cannot do anything with it but was wondering if there were anything else I could try. I am desperate here. Thank you!

Solution: You should try manually flashing your phone with its updated firmware yourself and see if it pushes through. Download the firmware file for your specific phone model from Sammobile then manually flash it to your device. Instructions on how to flash your phone can also be found at that website.

If the same error message occurs then try connecting the phone to a computer with Kies running then do an emergency firmware recovery. If the problem still occurs then this could be caused by a faulty internal component possibly a bad eMMC chip. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

Note 4 Use On Different Country

Problem: I was given a Samsung Galaxy Note4 and use it for class and texts. Have no data apps or anything. I love the camera. I am a senior so not too adaptable to new things but trying. Anyway, my question is…I’m going to Cuba for vacation and realize my phone will not work there however am wondering if I can still use phone just for camera? It takes great pictures! Thank you

Solution: The only issue that you will have if you bring your phone to Cuba is that you won’t be able to connect to a carrier. You won’t be able to make or receive calls and text messages. You will however be able to use its Wi-Fi functionality which means that you can access your favorite apps that needs an Internet connection. You will also be able to use the camera of the phone without any issues. Have a great vacation.

Note 4 Randomly Restarts

Problem: My phone problem is automatic restart my phone then batter level 80% to suddenly drop down 14% then repeatedly restart my phone 14% to 0% totally shut down. Other problem is i can’t do update my software because when i press “update now” on my screen that time one message came out my phone ” The operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorised way. Try downloading software updates using samsung kies on your Pc or visit a customer service” these are the message.

Solution: Let’s start with the automatic restart problem that you are experiencing with your phone. Most of the time this problem is software related which is why this is where we start the troubleshooting. Perform the steps listed below then check if the issue still occurs. If it does you have to move to the next step.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. When your phone is running in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are prevented from running. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the issue still persists even after performing the steps listed above then you should try replacing the battery with a new one as the current battery of your phone could be causing this problem.

For the second issue where the phone can’t get the official update this is most likely caused because your phone is rooted, is running on a custom software, or has a tripped Knox counter. The best way to update your phone in this case s to manually flash the updated stock firmware file. Just download the firmware file of your specific phone model at the Sammobile website. You will also find instructions on that website on how to flash your phone.

Note 4 Keeps On Freezing After Software Update

Problem: After an update my phone starts freezing Sometimes reboots Draining battery Overheating So I just visited service centre But they also fails to solve my issues So plz help me getting rid of

Solution: If issues occur on your device right after a software update it is usually caused by some form of old software data that got left behind during the update process. This old data is most likely causing a conflict with the new software version thus causing some issues to pop up. What you need to do in this case is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Freezes After Screen Timeouts

Problem: Note 4 freezes up after it goes into screen timeout. The screen sensitivity also seems to “lag” periodically. I’ve done soft reset, new battery, multiple different batteries. It also seemed to be getting very hot so I followed a lot of your suggestions on app removal. It has a tough time restarting as well. I’m thinking a hard reset may be my only option but I wanted to send you an email first. Hopefully you might have an answer for me. It is a Knox 2.6 android version. I don’t see that available in the drop down of this form.

Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If this card has corrupt sectors then your phone will usually freeze or lag. Ty removing this card then check if the issue still occurs.

If your phone doesn’t have a microSD card installed and the issue occurs then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below. Check if the issue still occurs after performing a step then move to the next one if it does.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the issue occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Keeps On Asking To Download Update

Problem: I have a note 4 and it says it is running Android 6.0.1. The phone keeps asking to be updated and when I do it downloads and installs but it keeps asking to download again. I keep ignoring it. Second issue is the heart rate sensor doesn’t light up when my finger is on it…neither does the selfie mode using the sensor.

Solution: This could be caused by a software glitch. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you should consider doing a factory reset. Take note that you will have to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

Note 4 No Command Error

Problem: On switching on the phone, which turns on anyway, every application presents with a message that the application has unfortunately stopped. No operation is possible because no application is working. The message keeps flashing. I have tried to do factory setting and all I got was a robot with Exclamation mark in red triangle saying NO COMMAND. I can’t clear the cache and I can’t do anything.

Solution: you should try to access the recovery mode of your phone and from there start the troubleshooting by wiping the cache partition of the phone. If this doesn’t work then you will have to do a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will delete your phone data.
