Samsung Galaxy S6 Stuck In Verizon Wireless Screen Issue & Other Related Problems

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S6 is one of the first models that the company has released that ditches the plastic body in favor of a glass and metal construction. Released in 2015, the phone certainly has a premium feel to it. Powered by an Exynos chip and 3GB of RAM the phone performs quite well under all conditions. It uses a 2550mAh battery which might sound too small but is enough to provide around 20 hours of 3G calls in a single charge.  While this phone has proven itself as a reliable daily driver there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S6 stuck in Verizon Wireless screen issue & other related problems.

S6 Stuck In Verizon Wireless Screen

Problem: I’m not sure if I am running Nougat or Marshmallow (could not select Marshmallow in options below), but I try to stay on top of firmware updates, so chances are good it’s Nougat.  Phone was working just fine, fresh off of a charge so no battery life issues, and it just shut itself down and restarted. Phone was sitting on the desk beside me–had not been touched in at least 5 minutes or so. When it came back up, it got stuck on the Verizon Wireless logo (red screen).  Vol Down + Power shuts it off.  Will NOT boot into safe mode (have tried various methods to no avail–phone never gets to lock screen, just gets stuck on the verizon screen) Booting into recovery mode, the little android guy (on a blue screen) loads, then it shows the android guy with an ‘x’ on him and a “!” mark in a yellow caution triangle. No idea what that means. Recovery screen comes up after that, though so I’m assuming that recovery mode boots okay.  I have tried wipe cache partition & reboot after.  No change–still stuck on verizon screen.  I have been through all of your troubleshooting tutorials, but can’t seem to find something to fix the issue I’m having.  Thought about attempting to flash firmware, but am concerned about data loss, which is why I haven’t already thrown in the town and gone with a factory reset.  Hoping you can help because if you guys can’t, I’ll at least know I’ve exhausted all of my options!!!

Solution: Aside from performing a factory reset you could try connecting the phone to its charger then check if it turns on successfully. If it does then there’s a possibility that the problem is caused by the battery in which case you should have this replaced. If the issue still persists then you have to consider doing a factory reset.

S6 Not Turning On After Getting Wet

Problem: My phone was left out when my sprinklers were on and got only a little wet. First thing I did was dry it off and tried turning it on, everything worked except the power button, so I put it in a bag of rice over night and now its dead. So now when I plug it in the gray battery with the lightning bolt comes up and changes to a battery with a red temp module and my red light flashes. I have a Samsung Galaxy s6 btw.

Solution: It’s possible that your phone has suffered some form of water damage. You can verify this by checking the liquid damage indicator sticker of the phone. This is located inside the SIM tray slot. Remove the SIM tray first then check the sticker inside. If it is red or pink then it means that it is tripped and the phone has been water damaged. You will need to bring the device to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Only Charges Wirelessly

Problem: My phone Galaxy S6 wirelessly charges ok but will not charge or be recognised by cable when connected to a computer anymore. Our other S6 edge works fine with the same cables. Nothing happens when a usb cable is connected. So I have been wirelessly charging and wirelessly transferring pics etc to the other samsung S6 and then transferring by cable to the computer. What could be wrong?

Solution: There seems to be a problem with the charging port of your phone. Try cleaning this port first using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port gets removed. If the phone still does not charge using a USB cable then I suggest you have the charging port checked at a service center. It’s possible that you will have to replace this port if it is found out to be damaged.

S6 Only Charges Via Wireless Charging Pad

Problem: My Samsung S6 will only charge via wireless charging pad after most recent update to Marshmallow.  It did this before when some power saving app was installed after a different update in 2015 but resolved after Samsung created a patch to remove that app.  I have no such app this time but am having this issue.  I hate having to carry around a wireless charging pad with me as I work a lot from my phone!

Solution: Listed below are the troubleshooting steps that you need to do in order to resolve this issue. Immediately check if the issue still occurs after performing a step then move to the next one if it does.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris gets removed.
  • Try using a different charging cord when charging the phone.
  • Try using a different wall charger
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then this could already be caused by a faulty charging port. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

S6 Not Charging After Getting Wet

Problem: Hi there, I recently was shoveling snow in freezing rain (building manager) my phone was in my pocket and somehow got wet…my fear was that because my phone phone was side down in my pocket that the charger port got wet. Well, it did. I shut the phone off and blow dried it. Phone charged fine after a few hours of no use. Today when I went to charge it…nothing. at first the phone told me that a USB connection error has occurred. After that, nothing. Not sure what to do now..any ideas?

Solution: For this particular issue you will need to clean the charging port of your phone first using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris present in this port gets removed. Next, try charging the phone using a different charging cord. If this doesn’t work then ty using a different wall charger. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port.

If the phone still does not charge then this could already be a hardware related problem. I suggest that you have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.

S6 Turns Off When Unplugged From Charger

Problem: My phone was under soapy bath water for around 20 min. It turned itself off and i let it dry for 2 days. I tried to switch it on and nothing. I plugged it and the battery charge indicator raised to 96%. I tried to switch it on again while plugged and everything worked fine, except if I unplug it it goes off. Took it to a workshop to get the battery replaced as I thought that would solve the problem but it didn’t and the technician was not able to tell what was wrong. What else should I try

Solution: It’s very likely that this issue is caused by a faulty power IC. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center that specializes in board level repairs. This chip usually costs $10 so if it is found to be defective you should have it replaced.

S6 Sometimes Charges Sometimes Not

Problem: Device sometimes charges sometimes not with a charging cable hooked up, fast charger. Same cable and charger is fine for my wifes S6 but hers seems to do this exact same thing at times. Tried multiple chargers, cables with no difference. It also doesn’t happen all the time, one day it is fine the next it wont charge. Sometimes when I do see this issue I cant turn off the phone, holding down the Right button does not display the restart and power off icons. Then if I do get it to power off it will sit on the ZERO Charge Icon then scrolls up whatever the real charge percentage is. Then sometimes it will not turn on

Related Problem: My partner has the Samsung Galaxy S6, already been replaced by the phone provider as he had issues with his first one. The phone refuses to charge, so we tried both types of reset and when plugging the phone back in, it charged for about 10 seconds then made an odd noise, the screen went black and a little cross came up in the bottom right corner then flipped to the left. Now it refuses to charge again! Any ideas how to fix this?

Related Problem:

Solution: For this issue you will need to perform the usual troubleshooting steps that needs to be done whenever charging problems occur on a device.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air.
  • Use a different charging cord
  • Use a different wall charger
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the issue still occurs even after performing the steps listed above then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
