5 Best GPS Tracker Device For Dogs
Keeping track of your dog is no easy task, especially if you have a pup that is extremely energetic. Let him or her outside, and your dog instantly goes bolting around the yard, and then often ventures off into the neighborhood and beyond somewhere. Unfortunately, unless your dog is chipped, it’s not easy to find your pup. And many folks haven’t yet chipped their pet. That said, if you don’t want to chip your pet, you can at least attach a GPS tracker to it when you let it out of the house.

Generally, a real time GPS tracker will allow you to always keep an eye on your furry friend, versus the GPS trackers that only update periodically. Not sure what to pick up for your dogs? Let’s dive right in, and we’ll show you five of our favorites.
Whistle 3 GPS Pet Tracker
First up on the countdown, we have the Whistle 3 GPS Pet Tracker. Whistle bills this one as the best all-in-one GPS location and activity tracker for dogs and cats. You’ll never lose track of your furry friend again. There are a few out there that are cell-free, but Whistle uses advanced GPS and cellular technology to pinpoint your pet’s location, though it does somewhat depend on the Wireless coverage. It uses AT&T though, so you should be good almost anywhere you go.
Since Whistle 3 uses a cell plan, it does requires a subscription plan for cellular connectivity. Plans start as low as $6.95/mo, so it’s not too pricey.

Trak 4 Mobile GPS Tracker
Coming up next on our countdown, we’re looking at the Trak 4 Mobile GPS tracker. This is a versatile tracker, allowing you to easily place it in your car, attach it to a dog’s collar, or even be placed in a backpack, and so on. It’s small enough where it just won’t be noticed. One significant difference is that the service plan for this GPS is only $5.99 a month when paid up annually — much more affordable than the subscriptions attached with other choices.

LandAirSea 54 Waterproof Covert Magnetic Real Time GPS Tracker
Next up, we’re looking at the LandAirSea 54, an extremely compact GPS tracker. It actually utilizes Google Maps technology to track people, valuables, and even pets as they travel. Like the first device, the service plan for this device costs around $25 a month. A rather significant expense, but it could be a small price to pay if you end up finding your lost, lifelong furry friend.
Just like the other devices listed, this one can also send email alerts if requested.

Findster Duo+
Fourth up, we’ve got the Findster Duo+, the first GPS tracker for pets that don’t cost you any monthly fees. The Duo+ has some amazing technology in it, which means that it doesn’t need a SIM card or cell coverage to operate. You’ll be able to easily keep track of your pets, wherever they go. One of the cool things about this pet tracker is that you can, during your walks, define a safe area around your pet’s location and be immediately notified if they leave that space.
Battery life is probably the biggest problem with the Findster Duo+. You can, of course, switch between GPS Location on/off. If you have GPS always on, the Duo+ lasts 12 hours on a single charge; however, if you switch it up, the tracker can be extended to several days.

BARTUN Vehicle GPS Tracker Magnet Tracking
It’s up last on our list, but the Bartun Vehicle GPS Tracker is a low-profile tracker that you can easily attach to your pup. This actually utilizes 2G technology, updating GPS location over a fairly slow network. In comparison, the other trackers listed all use 3G technology. That’s probably the major “con” here, as many carriers are starting to end support and cutoff 2G network access altogether.
That said, this one should still get the job done in most cases. There’s email support in the event that you need help setting things up for the first time.

Verdict
As you can see, there are a lot of excellent GPS tracker devices that you can pick up for your dogs. The Spy Tec or Tek 4 are probably your best choices, as they allow you to easily weave it into your dog(s)’ collar. These all provide you with real time location data as well, so it’s easy to always know where your furry friend is.
