Evernote is an excellent way to jot down any notes you have. It’s actually a really great way to take and view your notes across multiple devices. By logging into the same Evernote account, you can easily manage your notes from any device. Not only that, but Evernote allows you to do neat things like screenshot portions of a web page or part of computer that you can save to the platform. All that to say — Evernote is an excellent note taking platform, but it’s not for everybody. Some might feel like it’s way too cluttered or that the design is difficult to navigate. So what alternative options are out there for Evernote?

Coming up as our fifth place contender, we have Google Keep. Google Keep is a pretty unique note taking app in that the design is centered around post-it notes. Each note is a post-it note, and depending on how you want to organize your notes, each post-it note can be color coded for better accessibility. The neat thing about Google Keep is that it’s all accessible from any device, as long as you’re logged into the same Google account. On top of that, it has some neat functionality inside of it that allows you to search your notes.

Microsoft OneNote
The fourth contender for the best Evernote alternative is Microsoft’s own OneNote note taking software. OneNote is actually pretty unique in that your note taking can involve traditional typing, or hand writing, drawing, or clipping. You can even scan hand written notes and pages right into your OneNote account, and then they’ll immediately become searchable within your own OneNote database.

Simplenote
Simplenote comes in as our third contender, acting as an easy and minimalistic way to start taking notes. Simplenote puts speed and efficiency up as the first priority, so they make it really easy to start taking notes. Open the app, and you can immediately start jotting down ideas or things that you need to remember. ColorNote
Coming in as our second contender, we’re taking a look at a neat note taking app called ColorNote — when you open ColorNote, it doesn’t look like Google Keep; however, you can organize your notes by color just like you can in Google Keep. And, if you want to keep that post-it note style going, you can save your notes to your phone’s home screen, where it will take up a small 2×2 grid as a colored post-it note. Like many of the other note taking apps on this list, ColorNote has a wide range of formatting abilities, allowing you to easily bold, italicize, make lists, bullet points, and so much more. Our first and favorite Evernote alternative is FairNote. FairNote is a way that you can make encrypted notes and lists really easily. As you can see, Evernote isn’t the only great note taking app out there. There are plenty of others, even beyond what we listed here today. However, if you’re looking for a good alternative, you really cannot go wrong with the great security practices of FairNote or the versatility of Google Keep and Microsoft OneNote.
