ZTE collectively launches the Nubia Z7, Z7 Mini and the Z7 Max

ZTE Nubia Z7

The rumored ZTE Nubia Z7 smartphone has finally gone official along with a couple of other surprise announcements. In addition to what was expected, the Chinese manufacturer also launched the Nubia Z7 Max and the Nubia Z7 Mini, thus making it easier for fans to keep track on what’s new. The current trend suggests that manufacturers launch a regular variant first and then follow it up with a mini or max variant a few months later. But ZTE clearly thinks differently.

The Nubia Z7 packs a 5.5 inch 2K resolution display, the quad core 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 SoC, a 13-megapixel OIS (optical image stabilization) camera on the back, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot, Android 4.4.2 KitKat and a large 3,000 mAh battery.

Contrary to what the name suggests, the Nubia Z7 Max isn’t exactly a bigger variant of the Nubia Z7. It packs a display of the same size but with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, a 13-megapixel camera on the back sans OIS, a quad core Snapdragon 801 chip, 2GB of RAM, a 3,100 mAh battery and Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

The Nubia Z7 Mini packs a slightly smaller 5 inch 1080p display, the same quad core Snapdragon 801 chip as the rest of the Nubia Z7 variants, a 13-megapixel non-OIS camera, 16GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, Android 4.4.2 KitKat and a 2,300 mAh battery pack.

Pricing has been set at 3,450 CNY ($556), 2,000 CNY ($322) and 1,500 CNY ($242) for the Nubia Z7, Z7 Max and the Z7 Mini respectively. There’s no word on when the smartphone will be available outside China, but given its credentials, we should see it making its way to global markets as well.
