YouTube contemplating the launch of a new game streaming service to rival Twitch

After Google’s failed attempts to acquire the Twitch game streaming service, new reports suggest that the company could be looking to take them head on by incorporating such a feature on YouTube. The complete details of this new service are not known yet, but it does make sense given that YouTube perhaps is the only video site out there with a real shot to take on Twitch.

YouTube’s live streaming capabilities will reportedly get a major boost with Google believed to have deployed 50 engineers for the purpose. It is further being said that Google will launch this new service during the E3 convention in June. This is the annual event for all things gaming, so the setting seems appropriate for such an announcement.

The job won’t be easy for Google though as Twitch has been the first choice service for gamers since the past few years. It will take a lot more than popularity for YouTube to convert those users towards this new service. Reworking on the live streaming experience and offering an easier way to handle content is certainly a step in the right direction.

What do you think about a new Twitch rival from YouTube?
