Verizon to ship Lumia 822s and 8Xs tomorrow

Previously, on November 9th, Verizon Wireless had announced that Windows Phone 8X by HTC and the Nokia Lumia 822 will be available for pre-order.
• Windows Phone 8X by HTC – available by Thanksgiving in Blue, Red or Black color models for $199.99 with a new two year contract. The Red and Black color models are Verizon Wireless exclusives.
• Nokia Lumia 822 – Exclusive to Verizon Wireless and will be available by Thanksgiving in Black, White and Grey color models for $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and with a new two year contract

As we all know AT&T has been shipping Lumia 820, Lumia 920 and HTC 8X for few days now, and Verizon Wireless is all set to join the Windows Phone 8 party tomorrow. If you have already pre-ordered a Nokia Lumia 822 from Verizon Wireless, it’s good news for you because according to the above screenshots, the device will start shipping out as early as tomorrow! The news holds true for HTC 8X as well, unless you ordered the red variant. If you have pre ordered the red color HTC 8X, you may have to wait for another week and the device is anticipated to ship on November 21st.

Verizon is offering both the phones in good assortment of colors. Both come in three colors. The Lumia 822 has black, grey and white variants whereas the 8X is made available in black, blue and red. Both the devices support 4G LTE and feature Data Sense software which Verizon would like to describe as “tracks how much data you’ve used, how much you have left, optimizes your web browser, and helps you find nearby Wi-Fi hotspots.” Nokia’s Lumia 822 will come with a price tag of $99 with a two-year contract from the big red whereas the HTC 8X, which is a flagship device, will cost $199 with a 2 year contract.

The device is very similar to Lumia 820 from AT&T and the Lumia 810 from T-Mobile. In terms of specs, the Lumia 822 features a 4.3-inch WVGA ClearBlack AMOLED display, an eight-megapixel autofocus Carl Zeiss camera, a 1.2MP front-facing shooter, a Qualcomm dual-core 1.5GHzSnapdragon S4 processor, 1GB or RAM, 16GB of internal flash, microSD support for additional storage, and optional Qi-compatible wireless charging. Radios include CDMA and LTE for Verizon, GSM / GPRS / EDGE / UMTS / HSPA+ for global roaming, WiFi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, A-GPS and NFC.

Talking of design, the body of Lumia 822 has more curves than the Lumia 820 which is available from AT&T. The battery cover doesn’t wrap around the sides. The whole device weights 142g (5 ounces), which is a bit on the heavier side, but according to several reviews available online, it feels very nice in hand. Verizon doesn’t really have many Nokia devices in its lineup, so the arrival of Lumia 822 is an exciting news. Yes, the 822 is definitely not the best Windows Phone out there, but you can always go for HTC 8X.
