US Cellular to launch Moto X on August 26th

U.S. Cellular will launch the Moto X on August 26, according to an allegedly leak internal memo obtained by Android Central. Stated in the memo are the words “Wave 1, 2, & 3,” which according to their source means that the Moto X will arrive first to the wireless carrier’s LTE markets, and eventually to non-LTE ones. Prior to this date, U.S. Cellular stores will be receiving promo materials and a Moto X launch kit.

The memo does not make mention of the price of the Moto X, although plenty of rumors have suggested that it would be an affordable device.

This leak is good news for customers of the smaller carrier, since it means that they will be able to purchase the much-awaited smartphone from U.S. Cellular. The other carriers that are expected to release the smartphone are Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile. In Canada, the same handset is also bound to be released by wireless carrier Rogers sometime in August. The Moto X smartphones that are heading to Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T have already been spotted in the FCC website. Previous leaks have indicated that the Verizon Moto X will be released on August 23, although that date remains to be unconfirmed.

Meanwhile, Motorola and Google are still silent on the launch of the first smartphone that will be released since Google bought Motorola. However, even the folks at Google appear to be having difficulty containing their excitement over the Moto X. Recently Google chairman Eric Schmidt was photographed using the smartphone in public during an event. Furthermore, during the recent Google second quarter earnings call, Google CEO Larry Page showed his enthusiasm over the Moto X, but did not divulge any information. Still, with all the leaks, there are some reportedly significant details about the Moto X that have not been made public.

With the almost daily arrival of leaks, the launch should be around any time within the next few weeks.
