Troubleshooting The Samsung Galaxy S5 Apps Not Working Properly Issue

S5 Facebook App Will Disappear

Problem: I’ve got a couple problems, my Facebook app and a few others will randomly disappear even though a notification will pop up, lately I can’t download apps from the play store the first time, and finally my wallpaper will reset itself even though I have it saved in the wallpaper section. Please help, I’ve restarted, shut it down, and did soft and hard resets. Not sure what else to do.

Solution: Since you already did a factory reset and yet the issue still persists then this could already be a firmware related problem.

Is your phone rooted? Is it running on a custom firmware? If you answered yes to both of these questions then this may be whats causing the problem. Try to use the stock firmware of your phone and make sure to unroot it.

If however your phone is still running on its stock firmware I suggest you reflash your phone software with its original stock firmware. You will need a software called Odin installed in your computer to do this. Instructions on how to perform this procedure can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.

S5 Can’t Install Snapchat

Problem: Hi I had an account with snapchat and ive uninstalled the app. Ive now tried to reinstall and use the account again but it says its already installed. I cant find it anywhere on my phone.

Solution: Try going to Settings – Application Manager – make sure you are on the All tab. Scroll down and search for the Snapchat app. If you see the app then uninstall it. Go back to the Google Play Store then try to download the app again.

If you still can’t download the app due to the same reason then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone. Follow this up by logging out of your Google account on your phone then restart your phone. Once your phone has fully booted up login to your Google account. Check if you can now download the Snapchat app.

S5 Downloaded Apps Get Deleted

Problem: All my apps after downloading are being deleted some even show 0.00 data. Please help. I’ve used 5 gb’s in one day repeatedly downloading the same apps over and over.

Solution: Try restarting your phone first and check if the apps are indeed deleted. Sometimes this issue is caused by a glitch in the phone software and restarting the phone can resolve the problem.

If the apps are still missing after restarting your phone I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Once the factory reset has finished download your apps again. As much as possible try using a Wi-Fi connection when downloading the apps so you won’t consume your data allocations.

S5 Unfortunately Contacts Has Stopped Error

Problem: If I open up the phone app it closes almost instantly and says “unfortunately contacts has stopped”. I can open the contacts app and scroll through but if I try to change over to recent or dial it closes right away with the same error message.

Solution: The first thing you need to do in this case is to clear the cache and data of the contacts app as this may have some corrupt cached data that is causing this problem.  It’s also best to follow this up by wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery menu.

Once you have performed the steps above and the error message still appears you should start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while the apps you downloaded are disabled. This makes it easier to determine if the issue is caused by a third party app. If you don’t experience the issue in this mode then chances are it is caused by a third party app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If however you are still getting the same error message even in Safe Mode then proceed with backing up your phone data then do a factory reset.

S5 Apps Not Downloading

Problem: Hello ,So I ordered my mom and Att unlocked gsm phone. We have straight talk, so I got a sim and set up the phone as I normally do. No problems. The only thing is. Her apps aren’t downloading, and she can’t use the internet unless the wifi is on. Can you please help? Thank you so much.

Solution: Are you trying to download the apps using a mobile data connection? If you are then try switching to a Wi-Fi connection and see if you can now download apps. Regarding the phone not able to connect to the mobile data network of Straight Talk this could probably be because the APN setting the phone is using is still set for AT&T. Change the APN settings of the phone to the one used by Straight Talk so that the phone can have access to mobile data.

S5 Lag When Opening Apps

Problem: I have a rooted S5(SM-G900F) and the only issue I have with the phone right now is that before I open every app (gmail, Facebook,  memo, Viber(viber gets a black screen) I get some lag and a 2 sec. white mostly/black for a few apps , screen.  Everything seems to work just fine afterwards, once the apps are opened. This problem occurred just after rooting my device! If you have any idea how to fix this I would appreciate your help. Thanks in advance for your time!

Solution: This may just be an issue concerning the cached data of your phone. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone and see if the problem still occurs.

If you still experience the same issue then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S5 Keeps Getting Pop Up Ads

Problem: Recently the phone keeps on giving me pop up ads, I did a factory reset and still nothing, I didn’t get any new apps but 2 downloaded out of the blue, and since then even the beginning screen it’s different. I don’t know what else to do. Thank you.

Solution: Try doing the factory reset again but this time from the recovery menu. Before performing the factory reset make sure to backup your phone data and wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery menu. You should also take out the microSD card if you have one installed.

Once your phone is up and running do not install any app just yet or restore your phone data. Observe your phone first and see if it downloads any app or if the pop up ads still appear.

If the problem does not occur then download your apps from the Google Play Store.
