One of the great features that drones are starting to integrate is something called Headless Mode. Headless Mode allows you to control the drone without having to worry about the orientation of the drone’s controller. The only requirement to Headless Mode is that, when you launch the drone, the drone is in front of your controller. After that, you don’t have to worry about the position of it at all, as the drone will continue to fly relative to the position you started it up in–that’s Headless Mode.
Follow along below, and we’ll show you some of the best drones on the market that feature Headless Mode.
DJI Phantom 4 Quadcopter
The DJI Phantom 4 is made by one of the best drone manufacturers: DJI. It has a variety of intelligent flight controls, with one of them being Headless Mode. On top of that, it has functions like Follow Me and Fly To Home. The Phantom 4 is one of the best drones on the market, featuring a flight time of up to 30 minutes, removable propellers, and it’s even equipped with a 4K camera so that you can collect stunning aerial footage.
You can pick up the Phantom 4 from DJI for for $955.
DJI Mavic Pro
Another excellent option–also from DJI–is the Mavic Pro. Similar to the Phantom 4, the Mavic Pro has a variety of intelligent flight modes–Headless Mode, Fly To Home, Follow Me and more. On top of that, the Mavic Pro has unmatched portability, as you can fold it up to as small as a water bottle, allowing you to take the drone almost anywhere. You can even fit it in your pocket, if you want.
It has a special OcuSync transmission system, which allows you to control the drone up to 4.3 miles away. This allows you to take the drone in hard-to-reach places that let you capture stunning views rarely seen. With its 4K camera, photographic detail is unmatched.
Another drones that has Headless Mode is the Wingsland S6. It has a variety of others, too. This includes Fly To Home, Auto Hovering, Orbit Lock and more. Of course, it has a range of other excellent features, such as great portability and excellent flight time. Unfortunately, it only has a range of about 100 meters, nowhere near the 4.3 miles of the Mavic Pro.
However, the S6 is much cheaper than much of what’s on this list. You can get yourself one for just $249.
As far as drones go, Geniusidea’s quadcopter has a unique look. It takes on the typical 4-propeller design, but has an almost Lego-looking top. Additionally, Geniusidea uses two LEDs to make it appear that it has eyes, and then the 4K camera is placed in a way that gives it a mouth. It’s actually quite robot-looking.
As far as flight controls go, you get a Fly To Home, Headless Mode and more. It has a battery that can last up to 20 minutes, too. If you put it on Follow Mode, you’ll be able to get even more juice out of the battery thanks to its intelligent battery. It’s lightweight, portable and you can take it anywhere as well.
You can pick this up off of Amazon for just $320.
Last up on our list is the F17+ from Contixo. This is a great package. Like the rest of the drones on this list, it has a range of intelligent flight modes, including Headless Mode. One of the unique things about the F17+ is that it actually comes with two batteries, allowing you to increase the amount of flight time you’ll get out of it.
It’s also equipped with an electric brushless motor, which makes the drone more durable because there’s less friction between the parts in the motor. On top of that, brushless motors are more battery efficient than regular electric motors, giving you even more flight time.
You can pick up the Contixo F17+ off of Amazon for $250.
There are a lot of great drones on this list, so it can be hard to pick just one. If you’ve got the money, you can’t go wrong with the options from DJI–the Mavic Pro and Phantom 4. If you don’t, the Contixo F17+ or Wingsland S6 will suit you just fine! No matter what drone you pick, you’re getting an excellent package, all with a 4K camera that can capture stunning visuals.
