Sony Xperia Z6 Lite rumored with a Snapdragon 650 chipset

While the #Sony #XperiaZ5 is yet to hit most global markets, there’s already talk of the company releasing the #XperiaZ6 sometime next year. A new rumor now speaks of the hardware specifications of the Xperia Z6 Lite handset, which sounds a lot like the successor of the Xperia Z5 Compact.

It is being said that the handset will come with a 5 inch 720p display on board, along with what could well be a Snapdragon 650 chipset, which is going to be used in most upcoming midrange handsets in the mobile industry. But there’s also going to be an Xperia Z6 Compact from what we can tell so far, so the company’s 2016 product lineup could be very confusing for the regular mobile enthusiast.

Given the past failures, Sony has dramatically changed its strategy for the mobile industry by sticking to just one top of the line flagship lineup for the year instead of two. Previously, the company would release a flagship early in the year, only to release an upgraded model six months later. It’s still early days to comment on the authenticity of this new leak, but we might not have to wait long to find out.

While the #Sony #XperiaZ5 and the #XperiaZ5Premium are yet to be fully available on a global scale, talk about the successor has already begun. According to new reports, the company’s #XperiaZ6 flagship that is scheduled for a 2016 release will supposedly come with a pressure sensitive display on board (à la 3D Touch on the #iPhone6s).

This feature is also available on the Huawei Mate S smartphone that was released shortly before the iPhone 6s, so it was only a matter of time before fellow Android OEMs tried their hand with the technology. We’re yet to establish as to whether Sony will actually release the device with the aforementioned tech, but let’s not rule it out just yet.

Given what we’ve seen from the iPhone 6s, it will be interesting to see what Android manufacturers will have to offer with pressure sensitive displays. Perhaps Google can enable provisions within stock Android to support this particular technology. What do you think?

Sony designer hints that the company has no flagship scheduled until mid 2016

Although #Sony only recently unveiled the #XperiaZ5 smartphone, there is already growing speculation around the internet that the company is gearing up for yet another flagship release in early 2016.

However, a designer for Sony has remotely hinted that this might not in fact be the case. According to Rikke Gertsen Constein, Art Director at Sony Mobile, the Japanese manufacturer might not have yet another flagship in the making at least until mid 2016, so we’re still some distance away from seeing a newer high end Sony offering.

Interestingly, most of us are still waiting on Sony to offer availability details for the Xperia Z5 as well as the Xperia Z5 Premium. So at a time like this, speculating about the next flagship is farthest from our minds. The Xperia Z5 Premium is the world’s first smartphone to feature a crisp 4K resolution display. The device also comes with 4GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 810 SoC underneath, so it’s truly a beast in terms of hardware.
