Three UK announced on their website that they will soon be carrying the Samsung Galaxy Fame. This model was recently announced by Samsung and is expected to hit the market next month. The addition of this device on Three gives consumers more budget friendly models to choose from.
Samsung Galaxy Fame Technical Specifications
- Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean)
- 3.5” HVGA display
- 1.0 GHz processor
- 512MB RAM
- Up to 3GB usable memory
- 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash
- Pearl White and Metallic Blue
- Notification light
- Samsung Motion Features (Shake to update, Turn over to mute/pause).
- VGA front camera
- NFC with S Beam sharing
- 1300mAh battery
This model looks like a smaller version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 on the outside but the inside tells a different story. While the flagship model comes with excellent specifications the Galaxy Fame has low end specs. This device is suited for anyone who just wants a phone that they can use every day yet comes with a few extra features. Its small footprint makes it ideal as a backup phone.
One thing we noticed is that it comes with NFC and S Beam sharing which should come in quite handy. This device works on a standard 3G connection which means it won’t be able to take advantage of Three’s fast network.
One other device that we could compare this to is the Samsung Galaxy Y. The Galaxy Y has a lower specification when compared to this model though so if given a chance to choose between the two you should definitely go with the Galaxy Fame.
According to Sylvia Chind, Head of Devices at Three, “The Samsung Galaxy Fame is a welcome addition to Three. Complemented by our award winning network, browsing the internet, using apps like YouTube or sharing music, photos and videos on the go, this innovative smartphone fits your needs perfectly”.
No announcements were made as to how much this will cost or when it will be released. We are guessing though that it will come free on most plans or be priced affordably when purchased outright.
Consumers in the United Kingdom who aren’t interested in joining up with O2 to grab a Nexus 4 will be ecstatic, as O2’s Nexus 4 exclusivity deal is up and Three UK now has the device available to buy! Three is the second carrier in the United Kingdom to offer Google’s latest Nexus smartphone device.
Granted, the Nexus 4 is available via Google Play unsubsidized and SIM-free, but the device is extremely difficult to get your hands on the moment, as customers are currently waiting up to six-weeks for their Nexus 4 order (although, there are some reports that shipping is a lot faster than that).
Three will be offering up the 16 gig Nexus 4 for £35 on a new two-year contract, but will require customers to put down a £29 upfront fee. The plan includes unlimited 3G data, 2,000 minutes and 5,000 texts. Three is promising that customers will receive their order within the next business day. So if you put your order in today, you will receive the Nexus 4 by Monday.
You can also head on over to a Three store in the U.K to grab a Nexus 4.

Three UK has just announced that they are now carrying the HSPA version of Google’s Nexus 7. Starting today, consumers can head on over to Three retail stores to pick up Google’s ASUS-manufactured Nexus 7 tablet. At the time of this writing, the HSPA Nexus 7 can not be found on Three’s website, but we assume it should be available on there shortly.
Three has said that they will be selling the HSPA Nexus 7 with an immediate free of 49.99 on a 19.99 per month contract. That contract is going to include a 5GB monthly data allowance, which seems to be a bit cheaper than what we get here in the United States. When it comes down to hardware, you’re basically looking at the same thing we’ve had since the Nexus 7’s original launch date — stock Jelly Bean, 7-inch display, 32 gigs of storage and etc. Nothing to really goo over, aside from the speedy HSPA/3G speeds.
Since the HSPA Nexus 7 released a couple of weeks ago, it seems like its had a successful run thus far, and things are looking promising for it in the future. Along with the Nexus 4, the HSPA Nexus 7 was briefly sold out on the UK Google Play Store. More stock arrived this Monday, so there’s no more need to worry about not being able to get one, as there isn’t much demand for it as there is for the Nexus 4.
Are you going to be picking up an HSPA version of the Nexus 7?

Samsung’s new Galaxy Note 2 was just spotted at a select amount of UK Samsung brand store last night, and today happens to be the launch day for most stores and mobile networks in the UK too. Three is the first carrier to announce that the Note 2 is on its network, with their on-contract prices starting at £31 per month with a £159 charge for the phone up-front. If you are looking for a Three Galaxy Note 2 without those silly contracts, you will have to shell out a good £499 for the PAYG variant of the handset.
All of that said, the Galaxy Note 2 is currently available for purchase in Three stores all over the United Kingdom today, and the network says that online orders that were placed today would be fulfilled tomorrow. We’ll probably be seeing a flood of reviews come out of the woodwork fairly soon for those who are indecisive about purchasing the handset too!
We’ll be keeping you updated for when more Galaxy Note 2’s launch in other countries, specifically the United States!
Anyone in the United Kingdom picking up their Samsung Galaxy Note 2 today? If so, let us know in the comments below, I would love to know what you think about the new handset so far.

Three UK isn’t the only carrier getting some sexy new Sony phone as Vodafone UK seems to be joining in the party. The company has announced that the Xperia T and Xperia J will be “launched over the coming months.” Vodafone refused to confirm the £415 SIM-free price tag for the Xperia T or the £140 for the Xperia J, I think we can expect both rumored prices to be accurate though. We recently heard that the Xperia J would be coming out this month, and with all of these announcements surfacing, there’s no doubt we’ll be hearing a few official announcements in the days (maybe weeks?). Here’s some of the specs can expect to see on the upcoming handsets:
- 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 CPU
- 4.6-inch 720p HD Reality Display
- 13MP camera
- 16GB of internal storage
- 9.2mm slim stylish design
- Large 4.0” FWVGA Display
- Social media updates with illumination
- 5MP AF camera
- Front chat camera
- Available in Black, Gold, White and Pink colors
Anyone interested in getting one of these handsets? The Xperia T looks awful nice with that 13 mega pixel camera and 1.5GHz processor (I currently use a 1.0GHz processor). We’ll have to see how well they do when they release. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

British Network Three is the absolute first carrier to announce that they will be carrying the Sony Xperia T. Three did not give any release dates for the device, but there has been a report from Sony that we should be expecting a release in late September or early October, with September 28th being singled out as a possible release date. Again, no exact dates were given, just time frames and possibilities.
The Xperia T is Sony’s late 2012 flagship phone for the international markets. it’s packed with a 1.5GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 processor, a 4.6 inch HD Reality Display, a 13 mega pixel camera and 16 gigs of internal storage. Sony’s Xperia T is going to have a lot of competition from rival manufacturer as devices continue to roll out this fall, with Samsung, HTC, Nokia and Apple being notable ones.
Is anyone excited to see the Xperia T coming on Three’s network? The Xperia T should really be an amazing device for tech enthusiasts and really just anyone who loves big screens and beautiful displays. Will you be getting one when it launches on Three’s network in the next couple of months or are you happy with your current handset? Let us know in the comments below!
