The iPhone 5 Officially Announced

The Apple event has just concluded and we got to see quite a few new things but nothing that we did not already expect, at least in the case of the new iPhone.
The new iPhone has finally been introduced as the iPhone 5, putting to rest all the debate about whether it would be called the iPhone 5 or simply the new iPhone. The iPhone 5 is exactly the same device what the long line of leaks showed it to be. The thinner design, the dual tone body made of glass and aluminum and the larger screen.

iPhone 5 is the thinnest iPhone yet. At just 7.6 mm, it is 18 percent thinner than the 4S. The iPhone also weighs just 112 gms, which makes it 20 percent lighter than the 4S. A side look reveals, the iPhone 5 is as thin as the 4 and 4S side band.

The iPhone 5 is now longer, but not wider, with a 4 inch screen. This gives the iPhone 5 an aspect ratio of 16:9. The retina display has a resolution of 1136 X 640 pixels. Apple said, it decided to make the device longer but not larger to keep it easy to be used with just one hand. Naturally, the extra display real estate can fit in a 5th row of icons. All the Apple apps such as iLife. iWork, iPhoto, Garageband etc., have been redone to fit into the larger screen. A few apps like CNN and Opentable were given early access to the device to their apps fit the larger screen as well. All other apps currently run with a black band either vertically or horizontally, but Apple says this will be easy for app developers to rectify with app updates. Also, the screen now display color saturation level 44 percent better than iPhone 4S.

iPhone 5 finally gets 4G LTE speeds. The iPhone 5 is now GPRS, EDGE, EV-DO, HSPA, HDPA+, DC-HSPDA, and LTE capable. Here is the initial list service providers who can support iPHone 5
