Note 2 Restarts When App Is Launched

Problem: Hello, I have to ask about the problem with my note 2 I am facing. After installing 3, 4 apps from play store I was checking them by opening them but meanwhile my phone restarted and it repeated when I again did ?So what is the solution of this issue? Also tell me if we want to install too many apps on note 2, can’t we? Or is there any limit? Looking forward from you in this regard.

Solution: From what I can see the problem lies in either the software of your phone or in the SD card if there is any. Regarding your question on the limit on the number of apps it is only limited by the amount of space that you have available. The more free space that you have the more apps you can install on your device.

To troubleshoot this particular issue I suggest taking out your SD card first if your phone has one. Once the SD card has been removed try to run some apps and see if your phone still restarts. If it does then the problem isn’t with the SD card. Proceed to the following steps below.

Make sure your phone has the latest software updates.

Refresh the memory of your device

  • Turn off phone
  • Take out the battery
  • Hold the power button for 3 minutes
  • Replace battery
  • Turn on phone

This procedure clears out data that is stored in your memory that is not needed but hasn’t been cleared. Try running some apps and check if your phone restarts. If it still does then proceed to the following step

Reboot device in Safe Mode

  • Turn off the Galaxy Note 2 by pressing the Power button (positioned in the right edge of the device). Tap Power Off from the choices that will appear followed by OK.
  • Once the device successfully shuts down, press the Power button again, but this time, keep your finger pressed on it together with the Volume Down button.
  • Let go of the Power button when you see the Samsung Galaxy Note II logo but do not let go of the Volume Down key yet.
  • After that, you will see a status message telling you that your Galaxy Note 2 is now in Safe Mode. Let go of the Volume Down key and tap the OK button.

Don’t worry if you can’t run some of your apps in Safe Mode. All third party apps downloaded from the Google Play Store are disabled in this mode which makes it easier to troubleshoot if a particular app is causing the issue. Try opening some apps and see if your phone still reboots. If it does not reboot then you will have to find out what third party app is causing this issue then uninstall it. If the issue still exists then proceed to the following step.

Factory Reset (Backup your data before performing this procedure)

  • Turn the phone off. If you can’t, remove and reinstall the battery.
  • With the phone still off, hold down the Power, Volume Up and Menu buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds. Release them when you see the green android logo. This’ll get you into the unlock/reset menu.
  • You can use the volume buttons to scroll up/down
  • Scroll down and select ‘Wipe Data/Factory Reset’. Use the power button to confirm selections.
  • Select ‘Yes – Delete All User Data’. Use the power button to confirm selections.
  • Select ‘Reboot System Now’. The phone then reboots to factory settings

Your phone should be working fine by now.

Note 2 Text Message Sending Issue

Problem: Hello i have a problem with my phone for some time now my text messages keep repeating it self what to do i don’t know because it never use to happen before , also when i sent out a text it’s telling me it wasn’t sent. Whenever i added a contract to my phone book it telling me that AT&T would sync my contacts when ever i have a mobile connections again and again Samsung told me it’s not there problem it’s a AT&T app that causing it so i contact them they told me it would cost $200.00 to remove it from my phone i don’t have that money. Please tell me what to do thank you

Solution: Does your text messaging issue happen in any particular area? I’m asking this since if it occurs in just one area like your home for example but the problem does not occur in your workplace then it might be a network related issue. The cell tower in your area might have a problem which you should verify first with your carrier. If however this issue occurs anywhere you go then this might not be a network related issue at all.

If you have access to another SIM then try placing it in your phone and send out a message. If there is no problem in sending out a message then the issue might be caused by your SIM card. Try asking for a replacement SIM from AT&T. If the problem still occurs then proceed to the next step below.

Clear cache and data of messaging app (Make sure to save any important messages first)

  • From the home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  • Tap Settings.
  • On the More tab, tap Application manager.
  • Tap the All tab.
  • Scroll to and tap the Messaging application.
  • Tap Clear cache.
  • Tap Clear data

Try sending a text message and see if the problem still exists. In most cases it should be gone by now.

Regarding the AT&T app that constantly syncs your contact the only way to get rid of this app if you root your device and either uninstall the app or get a custom ROM for your phone. The instructions on how to root your particular device are available in some of the popular Android forums. There are also guide’s available on how to install a custom ROM for your device if you want to. All of this is free which is way better than the $200 AT&T is charging you to get rid of the app.

Note 2 Can’t Send Text Messages

Problem: Hello, I don’t remember seeing this mentioned in any of the 23 articles you have posted,  but I have experienced this issue multiple times and I am very frustrated with the only solution as wiping my entire device and starting over. The issue I am talking about is not being able to send text messages after having the ability for months. Just last week it started again.  All of my outgoing sms have a blue spinning circle and never go out.  There is no problem with me receiving sms. So please if you can advise I would appreciate it.

Solution: The first thing that you need to do is to check with your carrier if the outgoing text messaging feature of your SIM is still active. If it is still active then we can proceed with the troubleshooting process.

Try replacing your SIM. With another SIM inserted in your phone try sending out a message. If you can send out a message then the problem may be with your SIM. You should contact your carrier and request for a replacement SIM. If the issue still exists then proceed to the next step below.

Try sending out a message and see if you can. In most cases you the problem should be resolved by now, if not then proceed to the next step.

A factory reset brings the phone back to its original state when you first turned it on. Your text messaging should work properly by now if the issue is caused by a software glitch. If the issue still exits then this might already be caused by a hardware problem. Your best option is to bring the phone to an authorized service center for checking.

Note 2 Randomly Turns Off

Problem: hi..my problem with this note 2 is that it automatically turns off when not in use. i try to unlock it through the home button but the screen remains blank and then i need to switch it on with the power button. also during the night my phone is on charge n next morning the screen is blank again, just a red light that keeps blinking again i have to switch it on.. sometimes I get a blue blinking light and I go to use the home button but the screen remains blank and again I have to switch it on with the power button. Look forward to your advice

Solution: This problem could be caused by either software or hardware issues. To troubleshoot, first make sure that your phone is running on the latest software update.

Next, take out the SD card of your phone if it has any. There are instances when an SD card gets corrupt it may cause the phone to turn off.

Once you have verified that your phone is running on the latest software update and that the SD card is removed try to observe your device if it still shuts down on its own. If it still does then follow the steps below.

Refresh the memory of your device

  • Turn off phone
  • Take out the battery
  • Hold the power button for 3 minutes
  • Replace battery
  • Turn on phone

This eliminates any issues dealing with unwanted data that may be residing in your phone memory. Check if your device still shuts down. If it still does then proceed to the next step below.

If the problem is caused by a software issue then it will not occur again after the factory reset. If it still does then this may be caused by a faulty hardware component. Your best option is to bring your device to an authorized service center for checking.

Note 2 Touchscreen Unresponsive

Problem: Hi droid guy, m a regular reader of ur blog and have downloaded ur app too, i m facing a strange kind of issue.. From last couple of days my note 2 running on 4.4.2 has stopped recognizing finger’s touch while it operates normally and only via s-pen. I used my note2 at one night and the next morning it just failed to recognize fingers.. i factory reset d device but the issue was still there.. I talked to customer care and they have refreshed the software version and the screen become responsive for the fingers but again the next morning the issue was there.. Please help.. Also customer care have operated my device with the help of Samsung tutor app and had run d sensors and touch tests which was ok.. Now please help me and tell d possible solution please

Solution: When your device got the refreshed software version you mentioned that the screen operated normally but then the next day the problem returned. Did you install any apps in between this period? If so then this problem may be caused by an app or a group of apps that you have installed.

To troubleshoot this issue you need to start your phone in Safe Mode first.

Once in Safe Mode check if your screen is responsive. There’s a big chance that it will be. You will then have to find the third party app causing this issue and uninstall it.

Note 2 Bluetooth Range Dropped After 4.4.2 Update

Problem: Hello, As soon as I update my Note 2’s Android version to 4.4.2, bluetooth devices started to disconnect. This issue started to happen around 1 week before, just after I update my phone. I was expecting to solve it by myself but I couldn’t do it. Please help me. Bluetooth devices only work within 30-50 cm range right now. I can’t use them even if my Note2 is located in my bag. I used to play music by using BackBeat Go2 while my phone is located next room before this update. It seems like Bluetooth is working but signal power is extremely low. If I ever put my hand around BackBeat Go2, BT disconnects now. I have been using my Note II with “Gear2” and “BackBeat Go 2” accessories without any issue prior to 4.4.2 update.

Solution: Whenever problems appear on your phone after a major update it is always a good idea to do a factory reset. This deletes any data of the old software version that was not deleted but is still in your device. This data conflicts with the new software version and may cause unwanted issues.

Note 2 Won’t Charge But Detected By PC

Problem: My Note 2 has had this problem for a while now. It will connect to my PC via usb cable but it won’t charge via usb. When I plug it in it says charging paused, temperature too low. When I check the battery temp it says 0 degrees. I have tried multiple batteries and different chargers but still nothing. Is there a part I could replace? Any help would be great.

Solution: Try using a different USB cord as the cord you are using may have a problem. You may also want to try charging your phone using a different PC to eliminate any PC related problems.

Note 2 Downgrade From 4.4.2 Back To 4.1.2

Problem: Hello! I have a Note 2 GT-N7100 running on Android 4.4.2. Unfortunately, I’m faced with lots of problems with this software version that I’m thinking of going back to 4.1.2. This is the version where I haven’t had any problems with this device. Is it possible? If so can you please guide me as to what to do? Thanks.

Solution: Unfortunately there is no easy way for you to downgrade your device from Android 4.4.2 to Android 4.1.2. Samsung does not officially support this. There are however unofficial ways of doing this however it would require your device to be rooted. You will also need a software called Odin installed in your PC and the correct firmware file of your device. Instructions on how to do this are posted in several popular Android forums. I should warn you though that you should have a basic working knowledge of Android procedures as the steps may be confusing to beginners.

Note 2 Won’t Boot Unless Connected To Charger

Problem: My Galaxy Note II had about 17% battery left when it shut off. Now I can’t get it to turn on unless it is connected to a charger. It indicates that it has a full charge until it is unplugged and then it turns off immediately!! HELP!!! what is going on? how can this be fixed??

Solution: This could simply just be caused by a faulty battery. When a battery is not able to hold a charge this usually occurs. Just buy a new battery (preferably an original Samsung battery) and use it on your device.

Note 2 “unfortunately android.process.acore has stopped”

Problem: Hi, I have a Samsung note 2 mobile I don’t know what happen to my mobile. I am not able to use my mobile whenever i am unlocking my phone then is written on my phone unfortunately android.process.acore has stopped. Please tell me what I will do to solve this problem.

Solution: This is an issue that is affects not only the Note 2 but other Android models as well. This issue occurs when certain apps or system processes that unexpectedly closes or stops. Some of the known causes are

  • App cache or data is corrupted
  • Third-party applications with software problems
  • Programs running in background
  • Incompatibility with app settings

In this particular case it is usually the Contacts application that is at fault which is why we will be trying to troubleshoot if first.

What we need to do first is make a backup copy of all your contacts

  • From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  • Touch Settings.
  • Touch Accounts & sync.
  • Turn off all synchronization to Google accounts and T-Mobile Contacts Backup.
  • Return to the Home screen.
  • Open the App menu.
  • Touch Contacts or People.
  • If there are any contacts listed, they are stored on your phone (because you turned off the ones synced). From the menu, export them to the SD card to save them.

The next step is to clear the cache of the Contacts app.

  • From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  • Touch Settings.
  • Touch Applications.
  • Touch Manage Applications.
  • Touch All.
  • Touch Contacts
  • Touch Clear data and Clear cache

Restart your device and verify if the error still exists. It should be gone by now. If the issue no longer exists then restore your previously saved contacts list.

Note 2 Equalizer Issue After 4.3

Problem: Hi, I run galaxy note 2 upgrade  from Android 4.2 to  4.3.  After upgrade all Equaliser function, (adjusting sound effect) will only reducing sound level of corresponding frequency.   In fact it makes it LESS “loud” on the opposite frequencies i want to adjust. example: if i want to add heights the bass goes down significantly, but no hights are added. same for adding bass: the heigts go down, but the bass level did not increase. if i turn the EQ off, the sound get much louder then, although i adjusted the typically “U” formed curve! Is There any fix?

Solution: This looks like an issue with the update itself. First try to check if there are newer updates for your device. These updates may contain improvements and bug fixes that may address this issue. Next, if you haven’t done a factory reset on your device then I suggest you do it now. This step is generally needed whenever various issues exist on a device after a major update. Data from the previous software version may still be residing in your device which may be causing the problem and a factory reset is the quickest way to solve this. Just make sure to back up your data first before performing this procedure.

Once your phone has fully rebooted after the factory reset check your equalizer settings if they work normally. They should be working right now. If not then you may want to try using several of the popular third party equalizer apps available at the Google Play Store.

Note 2 Flashing LCD

Problem: Hello. I dropped and cracked my screen for the Note 2 its flashing now (screen) blur then clear. When am using it, it’s clear. When I leave it (not on it) it goes blur. What must I change the LCD or screen. Please advice.

Solution: The shock from the drop may have damaged some components inside the device aside from its display. Your best option is to bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked since there may be a possibility that other components have been affected aside from the display.

Note 2 Memory Card Issue

Problem: Hi Droid guys, it’s been a while that I follow your topics and I find them very helpful but now I’m facing some problems with my Note 2 that I can’t find a solution. Problem#1: when I try to update a application it appears a message that says it’s impossible to proceed to the installation in the phone memory and neither to the sd card despite there is more than 1 GB on both. After a while I did realize that the only way to download the updates was to turn off my memory card, can you guys tell me why? My second problem I think is related to my first one because I can’t move application from internal memory to sd card and vice versa anymore. Thank you for your attention.

Solution: It seems that your SD card may be faulty. Try using another SD card on your device and check if the issue still occurs.

If the problem still occurs then you may want to try to do a factory reset on your device. This brings your phone back to its state when you first turned it on. Be sure to back up your data first.

Note 2 Takes Long Time To Charge

Problem: Hello man. I am in trouble. I have a samsung galaxy note 2 gt n7100 . I bought it 8 months back. It used to get fully charged from 10% in about 2.5 hours. But from last week it is taking about 5 hours. Battery discharge timing is absolutely the same. What can be the problem? Plz help me with it

Solution: When your phone is taking a long time to charge then one of the primary suspects is the battery itself. This is because the constant charging and discharging will have a deteriorating effect on its lifespan. Normally it would take around 2 years for this to be noticeable however in your case it happens on the 8th month. What I suggest is to get another battery (one officially made by Samsung for this device) and use it on your phone. Try to observe if the issue still occurs. Make sure to use the original charger as a replacement charger may carry a different voltage. As much as possible try charging using the wall charger instead of plugging to the USB port of a PC.

Note 2 Some Contacts Vanished After Update

Problem: I have been using a note 2 for a year or so. It has been automatically upgraded Android 4.3 recent lyrics. My problem is that some saved contact names and telephone numbers have vanished. How to solve this. Thanking you.

Solution: Try rebooting your device first. This helps clear out some data that may not be needed but are still residing in the memory. Once your device is on check if there are any new updates available. These updates will oftentimes contain improvements and bug fixes that may resolve the issue.

Since you performed a major software update on your device try to check which contacts your phone is displaying. Most of the time the displayed contacts list will change making you think that your contacts have vanished. Click on Contacts then on the three dots to bring up a menu list. Click on Contacts to display and try to switch between each of the entries (Google, SIM, and Phone Contact). One probable scenario is that you may have saved all your contacts in the SIM while your phone is displaying the contacts list that are saved on the phone.

Note 2 Cannot Change Wallpaper

Problem: Problem: Hi, I have a Note 2 and I’m experiencing a problem with the wallpaper that appears on the display.  Problem is I cannot get rid of it. I’m afraid it’s some kind of Malware. I tried using task Manager to locate the program that loads it. I can’t find the image either. Help please. Thanks.

Solution: Try changing your wallpaper manually and see if the present wallpaper gets changed.

  • From the home screen, tap the Menu key.
  • Tap Set wallpaper.
  • Tap the desired wallpaper option.
  • Tap the desired wallpaper location.
  • Scroll to the desired wallpaper and tap Set wallpaper.
  • The wallpaper is now changed.

Are you using a third party launcher on your device? This may be the cause as to why the wallpaper can’t be changed. Try to uninstall the launcher or reset your app preferences. To reset app preferences follow the steps below.

  • Click Settings
  • Click Apps
  • Click the three dots
  • Click Reset app preferences

If you have a third party launcher installed and you click the home button you will be asked which launcher to use. Click on the default launcher for your device.

If all else fails and the wallpaper can’t be changed then it’s time to perform a factory reset on your device. Be sure to back up your data first.

Note 2 Difficult to charge, Screen Goes Black

Problem: Hello 🙂 I would like to ask you some questions about my Samsung Galaxy Note 2. So this is almost the first year of me buying this phone and it was working very very very well at first. After like 7 months or something it started to kinda piss me off haha. First its` charger didn`t work , or maybe the phone`s charging part isn`t working I still don`t know , but I started using another charger instead of the original one and somehow it`s working a little bit. And today this morning I remember using the phone only once for calling my cousin , then after like 5 minutes I wanted to surf on the net. I clicked to the home button , and it isn`t working. The phone won`t work , like , the screen is all black but the blue light at the top is still working it`s coming and going and I really don`t know what to do , the phone didn`t fall it , no liquid was poured on it , I tried to charge it but still , nothing.. Can you please help me as soon as possible ? :\ Thank you 🙂

Solution: Try taking out the battery from your device and leave it out for 3 minutes. While the battery is out press the power button and hold it for 3 minutes. Replace the battery and try turning it on. If the screen is still black connect a wall charger to it and try charging it for 30 minutes. The battery may be low on charge which may be the reason why the screen is black. Check if there is any charging indicator.

If after 30 minutes your device still has a black screen then you may want to perform a factory reset. Backup all your data first using the latest Kies software installed in your PC. Just follow the instructions provided once you run Kies.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.
  • When ‘GALAXY Note 3’ appears on the screen, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘delete all user data.’
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to turn the restart the device.

You may also want to try using a new battery and charger if the factory reset does not solve the issue.

Finally, if all else fails you may want to bring your device to an authorized service center as this may already be a hardware issue.

Problem: For the last few days the email refresh runs continuously when I go into my email. Any idea what could b wrong and how to stop it? I also think that I’m not receiving emails at the time they are sent. thanking you in advance

Solution: Try rebooting your device and check on your email again if it refreshes continuously.

Are you using the stock Android email app or the Gmail app? Try clearing its cache.

  • From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  • Touch Settings.
  • Touch Applications.
  • Touch Manage Applications.
  • Touch All.
  • Touch Email or Gmail
  • Touch Clear cache

One last step you can do is to delete the email account from your device and then add it again.

ProblemMy Galaxy note 2 is getting automatic switched off if it is in few minutes idle position. This happening after software update request message and i did update. After update i am getting this big problem, can you please help…Thanks. Also i updated my Samsung note 2 but it is showing Baseband version N7100DDUFND1 and as per Samsung web site it should be —- Baseband Version. It will be I605VRUFND7.

Solution: Your device may not have updated properly which is why the baseband version displayed is different. Try doing a factory reset after performing a data backup.

  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, Power key.
  • When ‘GALAXY Note 3’ appears on the screen, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.

  • Press the Power key to turn the restart the device.

Once the factory reset has completed check for any new updates available for your device. Check if your device still shuts down.

If the baseband version is still not the latest then your device may not yet be scheduled to get the update.

You may also use the latest Kies software installed in your PC to check if there are any new software updates available for your device.

  • Start Samsung Kies, or if you have downloaded Samsung Kies, launch the installer and allow Kies to install on your system. If you are prompted to reboot the system, do so before proceeding.
  • Connect your device to your PC or laptop using the supplied USB cable.
  • Ensure that Kies recognizes your device by looking in the upper section of the left-bar navigation menu.
  • Once Kies recognizes the device you will see a pop-up notifying you of a new update. Click Update
  • Read through the Caution pop-up and, if you agree, click to populate the I have read all of the above information checkbox.
  • Read the Allow saving of information statement and select Allow saving or Proceed without saving and then click Start upgrade.
  • Kies will begin downloading firmware upgrade components from Samsung servers. This will take a few minutes depending on the speed of your Internet connection.
  • After a few minutes, Kies will then begin transferring the firmware binary to the device. Do not disconnect the cable connected to the PC.
  • During the upgrade process, you will see the Android logo on your devices screen.
  • As your device is updating, please do not disconnect the cable connected to the PC.
  • When the update process has completed, click OK.
  • You can now disconnect your device from the PC. Once the device has rebooted it will be ready to use.

Note 2 Battery Level Incorrect

Problem: I Have a problem with my Galaxy Note 2, it has something to do with the Battery. The back cover of my phone was broken and the battery kept on falling out. I’ve since got a new case but something weird is happening, my phone can’t read the battery properly. For example, as soon as i turn the phone back on and plug the charger in, the phone would say something ridiculous like having 80% or something despite only having just run out of battery. And the phone would freeze and/or turn itself off even though it would say it has 20%-30% and even over 40% left. Does anybody know how to fix this? would simply getting a new battery help?

Solution: It appears that you may already have a faulty battery. Replacing it with a new one will most likely solve this issue. Be sure to buy an original Samsung battery and make sure you use the original charger.

Note 2 Display Won’t Turn Off

ProblemI’m having a problem with my device lately. The screen no longer turns off after getting a message or anything. The only way to turn it off is to manually lock the phone with the lock button. Any fixes?

Solution: Have you installed an app lately that may be causing this issue? Try starting your device in Safe Mode and see if this issue still occurs.

If the issue disappears then you will have to search for the app that is causing this and uninstall it.

Note 2 S Pen Issues

Problem: Hi! There is a problem with my note 2 which I am sure lot of people have gone through, well the problem is that since yesterday I was unable to see the little blue dot of spen on my screen and also the auto scroll feature of spen are not working and recently I was unable to take a screen shot by swiping my hand on the screen, I don’t know if they are linked to each other or not, I’ve visited the service center as my phone is still in the guarantee period, but they told me to leave the phone for a day or two and also the data will be wiped too, avoiding that I will like some help from your side…thanks :).

Solution: Make sure you are running the latest software update on your device. If you aren’t sure go ahead and check if there are any updates available and apply them.

If your device is running on the latest software then what you need to do first is to reset your device. This clears up any glitches in the phone memory and will usually resolve most issues.

  • Remove the Back cover by gently lifting up from the slot.
  • Remove the Battery by pulling upward from the slot.
  • Let the device stand for sixty seconds.
  • Align the metal contacts and slide the Battery into the Battery slot.
  • Replace the Back cover and press firmly into place.
  • Press the Power key to power the device on.

Check and see if you are still experiencing the same issues. If you are then you a factory reset may be needed. Before performing this procedure backup your data first. The best way to backup your data is to use the latest Kies software which you can download from the Samsung website.

Backup using Kies

  • Connect your device to your computer.
  • Open Kies and click the Back up/Restore tab.
  • If necessary, click Data backup.
  • Mark the checkbox next to the content you want to back up. You can select all content by marking the checkbox next to Select all items. Click Backup.
  • Click Complete when the backup is finished.

Now it’s time to perform a factory reset

Before restoring your data check first if the issues you previously experienced are gone. If they are then proceed to backup your data. If the issues still occur then this might already be caused by a faulty hardware in which case a trip to the service center is needed.

To restore data

  • Connect your device to your computer.
  • Open Kies and click the Back up/Restore tab.
  • Click Restore data.
  • Select the backup file to restore to the device from the drop-down. If you cannot find the restore file in the drop-down, scroll to the bottom and click Find file and select the file.
  • Mark the content you want to restore from the backup file, and click Restore.
  • Some items may require additional settings. Choose the desired option and click OK to continue.
  • Click Complete when the restore is finished.

Note 2 64GB SD Card Randomly Deletes Photos

Problem: hi i am using note 2 from 1.5 yrs and i am using 64 gb sd card as a external memory. what i found is when i save photos taken by mobile camera it got currepted n deleted and not able to see it in memory card .i had very bad experience last time when i went to trip and was taking all photos in day and in night when i try to check i found that all photos get deleted automatically as they were saved in sd card. i am facing this issue currently also. please suggest.

Solution: This could be an issue with the SD card itself. You could either replace it with a new one or use the one that you have but reformat it using your PC. Unfortunately, the photos that were deleted could not be recovered. Before doing a reformat make sure to backup any data stored in the SD card to your PC. When doing a reformat choose the FAT 32 file structure.

To troubleshoot phone related causes first check if you are running the latest software update. If any updates are available for your device then install them. These updates usually contains improvements and fixes that may address the issue you are experiencing.

To rule out any third party application that may be causing the data to be corrupt on your SD card try booting your device in Safe Mode. You will have to use your device in this mode for some time and check if the photos will still get deleted from the SD card.

If the photos don’t get deleted in Safe Mode then a third party app may be causing this issue. Find out what that app is and uninstall it from your device.

Note 2 Google Now Slow Response

Problem: Hey there. Love what you guys do! I had kinda a weird question. It had to do with Google now, but it only happens on my note 2. (I guess is not a huge deal because I plan on getting the note 4 the day it comes out lol) Whenever I say ok Google, or press the microphone to start a voice action, it takes quite a few seconds and someone’s a minute before it starts to listen. I’m guessing it’s a bug with the app? But I want sure if it was my note since it works super fast on my nexus. Any help would be great. Thank you!

Solution: Google Now should not have a noticeable lag when used. What you need to do first is check for any updates for your device. Once you have the latest updates for your phone try doing a soft reset. This frees up memory space that may otherwise be filled with data that isn’t needed. By freeing up memory space the device will have a speed improvement.

Check Google Now and see if there is still a noticeable lag. It should be working fine by now.

If it is still running slow then check and see how many apps you have running right now on your device. These apps may be using a lot of RAM making Google Now to run slow. To check if third party apps are causing this issue boot your device in Safe Mode.

Once in Safe Mode check your Google Now. If it runs fast this time then the next time you reboot your device check for apps that automatically run in the background and try to disable them.

Note 2 Freezes Up

Problem: I’ve had my phone almost since they came out with no problems.  However,  out of the blue it has begun to freeze up.  The only way to clear it is to power off and on. The last time it happened, the phone would not even respond to trying to turn it off for a couple of minutes. Also, does this phone ever need to be defraged and if so, how would that be accomplished?

Solution: In this situation you may want to do a factory reset on your device. This restores your Note 2 to its initial condition. Unfortunately, your data will also be lost which is why you need to make a backup first. To backup your data install the latest Kies software (download from the Samsung website) on your PC.

Backing up data

  • Connect your device to your computer.
  • Open Kies and click the Back up/Restore tab.
  • If necessary, click Data backup.
  • Mark the checkbox next to the content you want to back up. You can select all content by marking the checkbox next to Select all items. Click Backup.
  • Click Complete when the backup is finished.

Performing a factory reset

After the factory reset has been completed your phone should be running smoothly. It’s time to restore your data.

Note 2 Download Unsuccessful

Problem: Help! I have a note 2 and every time I try to download something into my documents, it says download unsuccessful. I never had this issue before. Can you please give me some advice? Thanks in advance!

Solution: This could just be a connection issue. Are you using Wi-Fi or a mobile data connection when downloading? If you are using Wi-Fi try switching to a mobile data connection and if you are using a mobile data connection try using Wi-Fi. In most cases where downloading of data fails the usual cause is a spotty Internet connection.

You might also want to try doing a soft reset of your device before trying to download again.

Note 2 Active Listening Issue

Problem: Hello, After the 4.4.2 update, when using Google Now, S-Voice, or the Voice-to-text feature (instead of typing) there is an issue with the active listeing. For example, since the update, when using Google Now and activating the voice search by saying “ok Google” the screen changes to the search screen promptly,  but there is a 5-10 second delay before the microphone prompt chimes to let you know its “listening”. The same issue is experienced when selecting the option to use the voice-to- text option on the keyboard. I cleared the cache from the boot loader screen which had no effect and a friend of mine who is having the same issue factory reset his Note 2 and that did not resolve. Any advice would be welcome.

Solution: Since a factory reset does not seem to solve the issue try checking if there are any new updates for your device. These updates usually contains improvements and fixes for issues that ou may be experiencing.

You could also try unchecking some of the apps that are checked in the Phone Search setting of Google Now.

  • Go to Google Now
  • Go to Settings (bottom right corner with the 3 dots)
  • Phone Search
  • Uncheck the apps that you don’t need Google Now to access.

Note 2 Echoes On Wi-Fi Calls

Problem: I’ve had my Note 2 for a year and a half. Some time in the recent past, it started doing an annoying thing when a phone call is using WiFi instead of the cellular network. My voice echos back to me. The person at the other end of the call doesn’t hear it. It makes it very difficult to speak normally when my voice echoing back while I am speaking.

Solution: To check if this issue isn’t caused by the Wi-Fi router you are connecting to try connecting to a different Wi-Fi connection. The router you were connecting to previously may have a poor connection or has settings that interfere with your Wi-Fi calling. Most users experiencing this very same issue say that turning off the noise reduction feature helps in eliminating the echo issue. Click Settings > Call > Additional Settings > Noise Reduction. Tap to enable or disable.

Note 2 Bluetooth Issue

Problem: DroidGuy, I have a Note 2 that has developed a problem.  My Bluetooth headset works, but it seems that my phone is always sending audio to my headset when before it only sending when audio was actually being sent (like when i was listening to music or talking on the phone).  How can I reset my Bluetooth so that it works like it is supposed to? Thanks!

Solution: Try restarting both devices then when your Note 2 has fully booted up unpair your Bluetooth headset.

  • Go to Settings
  • Touch Bluetooth
  • Turn on Bluetooth if it is off
  • Look for your Bluetooth headset device name and click unpair
  • Pairing is now removed

Once unpaired you will have to pair it again.

  • To connect to a Bluetooth device, turn on the Bluetooth device you want to connect to and make sure it is in discoverable mode.
  • Go to the Notification Panel by swiping your finger from the top of the screen to the bottom, and touch the Bluetooth shortcut. You may have to swipe the Quick Panel to the right to display the Bluetooth shortcut. When the Bluetooth transmitter is turned on, the icon will appear green.
  • Your mobile device will begin scanning for any available Bluetooth enabled devices. If your device is on and in discoverable mode, it will show up in the list under Available devices.
  • Touch your device in the Available devices list. If requested, verify the passkey matches on both devices and touch Accept. If you are connecting to an older Bluetooth device, you may be asked for a PIN.

Check and see if the issue still exists.

Note 2 Battery Drain/Freezing Issue After Android 4.4.2 Update

Problem: About couple of days ago since I updated my galaxy note 2 to android version 4.4.2, my note keeps on freezing and battery drains fast and quickly about a few hours without using it. What can I do to fix this?

Solution: The quickest way to fix any issue that may occur right after a major update is to do a factory reset on your device. This eliminates any old data from the previous software version that is still present in your device which may be the cause of the problem. Be sure to back up your data first.

Your phone should be working fine right now.

Note 2 Does Not Recognize SD Card

Problem: So I am trying to add a microSD card to my Note 2 which I pulled from my old Droid Bionic. My Note 2 isn’t recognizing the card and wants me to “Mount sd card”. It is also grayed out and not giving me any other option. My Note 2 is Stock and as far as I know never been rooted.

Solution: First make sure that the SD card is inserted properly. Most of the time if it is misaligned or not inserted properly your device will not be able to read it. Next verify that the SD card is still working by connecting it to your PC (use a microSD adapter). If your PC can read the card then your phone should be able to read it. Verify that your Note 2 can indeed read SD cards by inserting another SD card to it. If the issue still exists then this may already be a hardware concern. There may be a problem with the SD card slot of your device. Try to check if there are any dirt present and if there are clean it with a toothpick. You may need to bring your device to an authorized service center for checking if the problem is caused by a faulty hardware.

Note 2 Hands Free Mode Enables When Connecting To Wi-Fi

Problem: Hi I’ve had my note 2 for 10 months. Now I’m having an issue as soon as my phone connects to my home wifi my S voice opens up and my phone goes into hands free mode occasionally the sync button pops up and I have to slide notifications open to turn it off. My phone has been “rooted”?” Flashed”? Whatever the correct word is even tho in the settings they are off. ive  uninstalled any new apps and after takn battery out .nope happened again.ive read about safe mode also wondering how to u get outta safe mode. Help Love my phone but ready to throw it across the room

Solution: The best way to resolve this issue is to try to disable S-Voice or you could also try to go to location services under settings, chose my places, chose car, select method – none then save. Your Hands free should not automatically enable when connecting to Wi-Fi this time. This troubleshooting step works even if your device is rooted. If you are using a flashed device then I’m also assuming that it is still a Samsung Note 2 ROM that has been flashed since you can still use S Voice which makes the troubleshooting step above still valid.

Note 2 Red Eye Removal

Problem: I am using Samsung note 2 from last 2 years I am facing the problem that when I take the photos from Samsung camera as default programme some photos having with red eyes. Please give the tips how to remove or setting for removal of red eyes.

Solution: The Note 2 isn’t the only device that may take photos with red eyes. In fact, this could happen to photos taken by any camera. The key to avoid this is to know why it occurs. The red eye effect occurs when a camera captures light reflecting from the retina at the back of the subject’s eye when a flash is used at night and in dim lighting. When the flash goes off the eyes don’t have enough time to constrict to reduce the amount of light entering which means most of the light reaches the retina and bounces back. The red eye in the photos is due to the to the rich blood supply of the choroid, a layer of connective tissue at the back of the eye that nourishes the retina and gives it its normal red color.

To prevent red eyes occurring in photos you could do the following

  • Don’t let your subjects look directly into the camera. Have them look slightly away from the lens so that their eyes won’t be in direct line of sight with the flash.
  • Make the room brighter by turning on more lights
  • Make sure your subjects are not drunk as this reduces the response time of their eyes.

If the red eye effect exists in your photos there is still a way to fix them. You may want to use some of the popular photo editing software available that automatically takes out the red eye.

Note 2 Text Message Issue

Problem: Hi! My Samsung Note 2 did something kind of weird today and I was wondering if you could give me an idea of why it may have done this. I had a text message open to reply to one a friend sent me. It suddenly began typing by itself, then opened my gallery to begin attaching photos to the message. I was able to quickly repeatedly press the back button to exit the screen, then shut the phone down before anything sent. It was stuck on my own contact screen, which displayed my photo & phone number, at shut down. Any input is much appreciated.

Solution: Were you able to check if the message typed automatically were just random letters or did they form a word or sentence? If they were just random letters then this could just be a software issue. The quickest way to solve this is to do a factory reset on your device. Make sure to backup your data first before performing the procedure.

  • Turn off device
  • With the handset turned off, press and hold the Volume Up key.
  • While holding down the Volume Up key, press and hold the Home key.
  • With both the Volume Up key and the Home key held down, press and hold the Power key.
  • Press the Volume Down key to scroll to wipe data/factory reset.
  • With wipe data/factory reset highlighted, press the Power key.
  • Press the Volume Down key to scroll to Yes –delete all user data.
  • With Yes –delete all user data highlighted, press the Power key.
  • Once the wipe is complete, press the Power key to select reboot system now.
  • The factory reset is now complete. The handset will restart.

Try composing a message and check if your device still tries to type on its own. If it does then this might already be a hardware issue and in which case you must bring it to an authorized service center for checking.

Note 2 Weak Call Volume

Problem: I have my note 2(7100) since March 2013 but since I have it I can’t hear people properly when during a phone call. Even the person who I am calling says “i cannot hear you” so I do have to use my iPhone 4 for calls. This is the second note 2 the carrier gave me as the first phone I could not make call at all so they gave me a new note 2 four days after starting my contract on march 2013.I did a factory reset 3 times and 6 months agoI did root it and install CyanogenMod but the same issue and I have tryed cleaning the microphone holes with a toothpick but nothing helped. If you have any ideas please let me know thank you.

Solution: Since you have already performed a factory reset and even replaced the stock ROM with CyanogenMod but still the issue persists then there is a big possibility that this could already be a hardware issue. The device could have a problem with the microphone, the speaker, or even both. Your best option right now is to bring it to an authorized service center for further checking.

Note 2 Does Not Boot After KitKat Update

Problem: Hi! I hope you could give us a solution to this problem. My friend and I both have the same phones, Samsung Galaxy Note 2, and we both updated the OS to kitkat 4.4.2. From the download to the installation process, mine wet perfectly fine. However, my friend encountered a problem. After downloading the update, he installed it and was asked to reboot the phone which he did. After the reboot, the samsung logo came up and the phone was stuck in that particular segment of rebooting a phone. He restarted his phone many times but still the phone gets stuck to that particular segment. So he tried to factory reset the phone by pressing and holding the necessary buttons for reset. Unfortunately, the factory reset doesn’t work also. The time of the loading for the factory reset is interrupted by an error. The error displayed is the robot icon of android that is lying on its side and has a red exclamation point on it. What does this mean? Could you please help us resolve the problem? Thank you very much!

Solution: You might want to do an emergency firmware recovery on the device using the latest Kies software. You will need a computer connected to the Internet running on the latest Kies software which you can download from the Samsung site. Make sure that your Note 2 can enter download mode.

  • Switch off your device completely (You can remove its battery and then re-insert it after several seconds)
  • Press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power, all at the same time.
  • Release all buttons when you see the Warning! screen.
  • Press the Volume Up button to confirm that you want to boot Download Mode
  • Download Mode menu will appear

Once you have the Kies software installed make sure to run it as an administrator. The software will download all the necessary drivers needed.

  • Click Tools > Emergency firmware recovery.
  • Select your device from the list. Your device will be displayed in the list only if it requires a recovery.
  • Switch your Galaxy Note 2 to recovery mode using the steps displayed in Kies.
  • Click Start upgrade

Note 2 Back Button Does Not Light Up

Problem: Have a question in regards to the back button and the tools button on the note 2 they don’t light up I took my phone to be worked on when i got it back the buttons no longer lit up will not take my phone back to that company no longer trust them what they did for me was change out the screen it had a crack in it did they just turn something off or did they forget to plug wiring what do you think

Solution: Try doing a factory reset first to rule out any software related issues. Be sure to backup all your data first.

  • Once the wipe is complete, press the Power key to select reboot system now.
  • The factory reset is now complete. The handset will restart.

If after performing the factory reset your capacitive buttons still don’t light up then this is already a hardware issue. Try bringing it to an authorized service center for checking.

Note 2 Screen Mirroring Not Working Properly After KitKat Update

Problem: Hi , please help? My note 2 is magnificent except after the kit kat software update the screen mirroring has stopped mirroring properly. The movie or download starts to stick and gets jumpy and then slows down to an almost slow motion state. The speech drags and the picture goes very slowly. I have tried the patch , i have even bought a new dongle and i have completely cleaned my phone off and started again , however the screen mirroring is still unstable and very soon the picture starts dragging again…..  In the beginning it worked perfectly …. until the update …. now it is painful to use the screen mirroring. Heeeeeeeeelp pleeeeeeàaaase.

Solution: Most of the Note 2 owners who have experienced the same issue say that this can be resolved by performing a factory reset. Once the reset has completed the screen mirroring will work fine. Just be sure to backup your data first.

Note 2 Annoying Dialog Box

Problem: I have a Sprint Galaxy Note 2 with an infuriating long-term problem for which there seems to be no solution except for rooting, which I am not confident in doing yet. Since at least last Fall I have been hounded at least half a dozen to a dozen times a day with the Android Update dialog box. I have disabled

everything in Settings and the Application Manager that I can feel safe in doing, or which I have been advised to disable by Sprint Advanced Tech in the various conversations I have had with them. They are baffled as to how to disable it and in past conversations blamed it on Samsung & encouraged me to talk to them. I did so, but as expected, they were no help either and blamed Sprint. There are many complaints online about this dialog box, but no useful information regarding how to disable it, aside from those that involve rooting first. Why do I not want to update my phone you ask? Firstly, in fact I DO want to update it….badly! I am a total update freak. I LOVE updates. But I cannot abide deliberately poisoned updates and Sprint has deliberately poisoned Knox. I like Knox, except for Sprints modifications. It (Knox) has been altered to notify Sprint if you root your phone, which I will do after I replace my second phone with a Galaxy Note 4, and can afford the risk of bricking my Note 2 by experimenting with rooting. I have a warranty on my Note 2 (the first warranty I have gotten in a long time), and don’t want Knox voiding it. Also I have reason to believe that possibly there are changes in the update that might interfere with my free PDANet tethering. But the tattling by Knox is the biggest thing. And besides, at this point it is a personal (and once or twice an hour) constant battle of wills between myself and the damned Dialog Box, and I am determined not to lose. I am almost certain that I would not update now, even if Sprint came clean and removed their crap from Knox. I am probably the very last, and ONLY person in the US with a Sprint Galaxy Note 2, who has withstood this vile and obnoxious Dialog Box and not updated Android since last year. It is a constant annoyance, and a constant safety hazard for me. I drive a lot in my occupation and am constantly using my Note 2 as a GPS, and the damned update Dialog Box is always superimposing itself over whatever I am doing, it doesn’t matter what it is. It could get me killed someday, and someone else on the highway too. Please help!

Solution: Unfortunately the only way I can think of right now to disable the dialog box requires that your device be rooted. What I could suggest is to use a different GPS device when you are driving so that you won’t be bothered by the dialog box just in case it pops up while you are on the road.

Note 2 Black Screen

Problem: I wanted to ask if you could offer a suggested solution for my Note 2.  The screen went. I did not drop it or get it wet. I can hear the phone come on but the screen is black. My provider will fix the screen for $175.00 or I can buy a new phone. I just wanted to check for possible fixes before I invest more money in the phone. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much for your articles and tips.  They are very much appreciated especially to the technically challenged like me 🙂

Solution: Have you tried checking if you can enter download mode? If you can then this might just be a software issue.

To go to download mode

  • Switch off your device completely (You can remove its battery and then re-insert it after several seconds)
  • Press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power, all at the same time.
  • Release all buttons when you see the Warning! screen.

If you can access this part then backup your data first and perform a factory reset. I suggest using Kies when doing the backup.

First make sure that your computer has the latest Kies software installed which you can download from the Samsung site.

To back up your data

  • Connect your device to your computer.
  • Open Kies and click the Back up/Restore tab.
  • If necessary, click Data backup.
  • Mark the checkbox next to the content you want to back up. You can select all content by marking the checkbox next to Select all items. Click Backup.
  • Click Complete when the backup is finished.

To factory reset your device

To restore the previously backed up data

  • Connect your device to your computer.
  • Open Kies and click the Back up/Restore tab.
  • Click Restore data.
  • Select the backup file from the drop-down box to restore it to the device. If you cannot find the restore file in the drop-down box, scroll to the bottom, click Find file, and select the file.
  • Mark the content you want to restore from the backup file, and click Restore.
  • Some items may require additional settings. Choose the desired option, and click OK to continue.
  • Click Complete when the restore is finished.

If however your device still has a black screen when trying to access the download mode then this may already be a hardware issue and in which case you must bring it to an authorized service center for checking.

Note 2 Grainy Screen

Problem: I was attempting to fix my phone bc my wifi was in and out and I figured out it was a loose connection. I removed the screen so that I could access the motherboard and see the inner workings. After putting the phone back together, the screen is really grainy. The black screen when you turn the phone on is yellow, and the other colors have a white glare. Please tell me, what did I mess up and how do I fix it?

Solution: Since this is already a hardware related issue it’s difficult to troubleshoot unless we can open it up and see which part is faulty. Your best option is to bring the device to an authorized service center for checking.

Note 2 Automatic Vibration During Calls

Problem: Hi Droid Guy, I own a Galaxy note 2, bought 17 months ago. .. I regularly update my phone and currently its running on kitkat 4.4.2. Since last 6-7 months I am facing problem with my note 2…. it automatically goes into vibration mode.  When I receive any call. .. sometimes it rings and sometimes not.  When I check my phone I see missed calls and then I check that the phone is on vibration mode. Please help me how can I get rid off this situations.  Sometimes I miss important calls due to this problem. Thanks and Regards.

Solution: Check first if your device goes into vibration mode on its own or if the ring volume is accidentally pressed which may activate the vibration mode. Doing this takes time and requires the device to be placed on the table (make sure it isn’t set to vibrate). When you receive a call or a message take note if it vibrates or if it emits a sound. You may want to repeat this experiment for a couple of days.

If your device does not vibrate when placed on the table then there is a big possibility that you may have just accidentally pressed the ring volume. This usually occurs if you have set the volume just one bar above the silent mode.

If your device still vibrates on its own if placed on the table then follow the troubleshooting steps below.

To check if an app is causing this boot device in Safe Mode

  • Turn off the Galaxy Note 2 by pressing the Power button (positioned in the right edge of the device). Tap Power Off from the choices that will appear followed by OK.
  • Press the Power button again, but this time, keep your finger pressed on it together with the Volume Down button.

Once Safe Mode has been activated repeat the same process where you need to place the device on the table and observe if it goes on vibrate mode on its own. If not then an app may be causing this in which case you have to find out what it is and uninstall it.

Note 2 Problems After Update To Version 4.4.2

Problem: Hi, I had updated to 4.4.2 version and have found cell phone in trouble. 1st update was of 700 MB then the update was of 416 MB odd and thereafter 3-4 small updates of around 120/40/34 MB. 1) Contact list not getting updated, unable to find contacts and make calls. Also if i have missed calls, unable to trace them as contact list is being updated. 2) videos not working 3) many apps get crashed which were working in good condition earlier. Battery draining at super speed. I have used your below solution and is yet to check impact on battery life. Pl help for point 1 and 2 & 3.

  • Turn your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 OFF.
  • Press and hold the VOLUME UP and HOME buttons while pressing the POWER button. This will put your device into
  • factory reboot menu but don’t worry, you will be lose any of your data.
  • Navigate through the options using Volume buttons and choose “wipe cache partition” and press Menu button to confirm.
  • Once the cache partition is emptied, you need to choose “Reboot System Now.”
  • If wiping of cache partition won’t fix the problems, backup your data and perform factory reset.

Regards

Solution: Basically the procedure for steps 1, 2, and 3 clears the cache of your device. The reason for doing this is that once you update to a newer software version there may be data form the previous version that’s not needed anymore residing in your device. This old data may cause several issues which is why it needs to be cleared out.

Now, if wiping the cache partition does not solve the problem then you may need to do a factory reset on your device. Make sure to make a backup of your data first as they will be deleted in the process.

Check your device and see if you are still experiencing the issues you faced before. There’s a big possibility that they will be gone by now.

Note 2 Randomly Turns Off, Stuck In Boot Loop

Problem: Hi there, I’ve recently come across your website and I’m taking up the offer of asking you for some advice on some odd behaviour my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (non-rooted) phone has recently been up to. I’ve had it for 18 months, it’s on Android 4.3 (when will the OTA 4.4 be released?!), has no apps as device administrator, has no encryption, has plenty of memory and I’ve never had any trouble with it until now. My Note 2 has recently been randomly turning itself off and after automatically turning itself back on again (restarting), goes into a loop of getting to the sim lock screen and turning itself off and on again until the battery runs out or I take the battery out. I’ve been using Kies and various other backup sources to restore my Note 2 after doing a hard reset but the looping soon started again. Sometimes the device feels hot so I assume it’s the battery but this is not always the case. The battery has even had 75% remaining before starting a loop. What is strange is as soon as I plug the phone in to charge the looping stops. Before this, the task manager (holding down the home key) stopped working but I suspect this is not related. I haven’t downloaded any apps from unknown sources or clicked on any hyperlinks in emails and I’ve been running TrustGo and CM Security apps so I’m at a loss as to why this is happening. Could you offer any help? With thanks.

Solution: You mentioned that you already did a hard reset and Kies to restore your device which pretty much rules out an app or the phone software causing this problem. Try manually checking if there are new software updates for your device and install them if they are available.

On the hardware side what you can do is to remove the SD card and check if the problem still exists. There are instances where a faulty SD card may be the cause of this. Try also to use another battery.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail then this may be a hardware issue in which case you have to bring your device to an authorized service center for checking.

Note 2 GPS Does Not Work

Problem: DROID guy, Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my email. I have a Note 2 on the Verizon network, it’s stock, not rooted. Recently I have noticed my GPS hasn’t been as accurate as other Note 2’s.  One day very recently, it was not tracking me at all.  I opened GPS Test and left it running for 10 minutes and it never picked up a single satellite. Any guidance on what I can do?

Solution: A GPS signal depends on the location you are in. If you are indoors inside a building then it may be harder to get a signal lock compared to being outdoors. Try checking your device outdoors and see if you could get a GPS signal lock. Make sure to turn on your GPS and that Location Services are turned on. If you are still not getting a signal then do the troubleshooting steps below.

Do soft reset

  • Remove the battery for 30 seconds, with the device still ON.
  • Wait for about a minute or two then replace the battery.
  • Power on the device.
  • Check GPS signal

Check for any available software updates for your device. These updates contain several fixes and improvements for your device that may address this GPS issue you are facing.

As a final resort perform a factory reset on your device but make sure to back up your data first.

Note 2 Book Library Issue

Problem: The library on my phone has always worked properly meaning it downloaded books the same as my Kindle and I could start reading right away.  Now they download and they will not open.   It says to delete and reload.  No matter how many times  I delete and reload, I still can’t open the book.  The funny thing is that I can open some but not others.   I have tried to figure out how this happened but have not been able to.   Please help me. Love my phone.  I am 71 and when I bought several years ago the salesman tried to talk me out of it because it was an android phone and thought it would be to much for me.  I spent a solid week watching every video, practice and read.  Oh and my 14th year old grand daughter helped me.Love my phone.

Solution: I’m impressed that you chose a Note 2 over a simple device. Anyway, there are instances when an app does not perform as it normally should in the Android environment. One way to resolve this is to clean out the cache of the app. I don’t know what app you are using to read downloaded books but this is the particular app that you need to find and clear out.

The procedure to clear out the cache of the app you are using is as follows.

  • From the home screen, tap the Apps icon
  • Tap Settings.
  • On the More tab, tap Application manager.
  • Tap the All tab.
  • Scroll to and tap the desired application.
  • Tap Clear cache
  • The application cache is now cleared.

After performing this procedure check and see if you can now open your books.

Note 2 External SD Card Becomes Read Only After Update

Problem: Ever since the kitkat update my ext.sd card is “read only” & seperated into 4 or 5 different usb storage files >>all of which I can’t access to even see what’s on them on and won’t allow me to delete, add ,ect…Help me plz before my note 2 becomes nothing. More than a experiences paper weight.

Solution: Android KitKat comes with several new features and one of this is to not allow any writing to be done on the external SD card. During the update process there may have been a glitch that occurred that change the status of your SD card to read only. Below are the steps you can perform to fix this issue.

  • Connect your Note 2 to a PC using a USB cord. Make sure to set it to copy files to and from your PC and that the SD card is inserted in your device.
  • Make sure the SD card is recognized
  • Right click on the SD card and select Properties
  • Select Tools
  • Select Check now to automatically fix file system errors
  • When completed disconnect your device from PC and check if it is now mounted as read-write.

If that does not work then you may try to reformat the SD card or replace it with a new one.

Note 2 Takes Long Time To Charge

Problem: Hey there, I’m using a galaxy note 2. Its the international version. The battery on my phone takes forever to charge. I use an original charger and I have never used anything other than the original.  Sometimes if I use the phone while I’m charging, the battery still gets depleted. . (While it’s On charge.. Damn).. please tell me you can help me out with this. It happened again while typing this mail. . Fone went off while its on charge n I had 2% left. . (Frustrating) thank goodness the mail got saved in drafts. Please help me out guys.

Solution: When the battery performance is this bad it may mean that the battery is already faulty. Try replacing it with a new one.

Aside from replacing the battery you may try to do a soft reset on your device.

  • Remove the battery for 30 seconds, with the device still ON.
  • Wait for about a minute or two then replace the battery.
  • Power on the device.

Note 2 Lags When Using It

Problem: I have deleted all of my photos and videos and most of my music. I have also uninstalled most of my apps to see if that helped, it didn’t. The problem just started a month ago. If i try to take a picture, it takes over 5 seconds for it to respond, and then another 5 or more to view it in the gallery. Not to mention other apps that take ages to open. I am using the 4.2 version of software. From what i have read i don’t want to upgrade to KK. Any ideas would be great.

Solution: A device that is running slow or lags is an indication that a lot of information is stored in its cache or a lot of processes are running simultaneously. Try to perform the steps below to resolve the issue.

Do a soft reset

  • Remove the battery for 30 seconds, with the device still ON.
  • Wait for about a minute or two then replace the battery.
  • Power on the device.

Clear the cache of your device

  • Turn off the phone.
  • Remove the battery and Reinsert it.
  • Hold the Volume Up and Volume Down keys.
  • Press and hold the the Power key while continuing to hold both volume keys.
  • Release the keys when the Samsung logo appears on the screen.
  • Press the Volume Down key to scroll to delete all cache data.
  • Press the Power key to select it.
  • Wait for a few seconds while the phone clears information.
  • Press the Power key to select reboot system now.

Note 2 Disabled Gallery Before Update Now Doesn’t Turn On

Problem: I’ve used Quickpic exclusively for years on my Android devices, to view and edit or delete photos. I’ve always disabled the Gallery app since I saw no need to have it taking up resources. Fast forward to yesterday when I finally decided to install KitKat on ny Note 2 after declining it for about a  month. Normally, when I do major updates to my devices, I turn back on all my disabled apps prior to the update to prevent any conflicts or issues. Unfortunately, I forgot to do this yesterday when I installed the update. Now I want to turn Gallery back on to make editing photo names and/or deleting photos easier. When I go to my “Turned Off” apps, it is all greyed out with no way of turning it back on. Since it shows version 4.4.2 I’m guessing it updated, but didn’t turn itself back on in the process. Any ideas how to get it back?

Solution: You may want to reset all app preferences of your device to resolve this. Try going into settings, application manager and hit the menu button then hit reset application preferences.

Note 2 S Note App Disappeared After 4.4.2 Update

Problem: Hi, Since I upgraded my phone to Kitkat 4.4.2 .I rooted my note 2 but 2 or 3 days after it .my S note app and functions totally dissapeared .I tried to reinstalled it with Kies but no results .Help please.

Solution: Several Note 2 owners who upgraded to KitKat have reported missing several apps after the update. To resolve this a simple reboot usually does the trick. Just completely turn off your device then turn it back on. If that does not work then just go to menu > settings > more > app manager – all then find “TouchWiz home” and press “clear cache” and “clear data”.

Note 2 SMS Wrong Order

Problem: I got my note 2 over 10 months ago, worked perfectly fine and I loved it and still do. The one issue that has recently popped up though is that my messaging isn’t working properly. The timings of received messaged are wrong, i.e. if a message was sent at 430 pm it might show up as being received at 2 in the morning. I don’t mind that, what I care about is that all the messages I receive are at the top, while the messages I send are always at the bottom, which makes me have to scroll up to see unread messages. Is there anyway I can fix this on my own? I am not very good with technology so it would be best for step-by-step instructions. Thanks!!!

Solution: Are you on roaming? A lot of people having this same issue says that it occurs whenever they are roaming. If you are not in roaming then check the time of your device and make sure it synchronizes with your network time. Try to check for any software updates available for your device as these updates are important since they contain several fixes that may address this issue.

One other thing to consider is that the wrong order of messages being displayed may be caused by some software glitch. In this case a hard reset of your device is highly recommended. Before doing this though make sure to back up your data first.

  • The reset is now complete. The handset will restart.

Note 2 Video File Sending Length

Problem: Hi Droid guy! Can you please tell me if it’s possible to text a whole video file. And not the grainy lesser quality videos either. My note 2 always tells me my video is too long and I need to edit it then it gives me a short little space to work with. If so can you please enlighten me. Thanks.

Solution: Several networks have imposed limits in the size of an MMS (picture, video, or audio) that can be sent. This is the reason why you can’t text a whole video file that may be taken in HD format. If you really want to send the whole video file then you may want to consider getting a cloud storage account such as Dropbox then upload the video file there. You can then send the Dropbox link of the file to the person you would want to view it. Just make sure to set the correct permission of the file in Dropbox so that it can be viewed (If it is set to private only you can view it).

If the video file you are trying to send has a file size of just a couple of MB then you may also want to consider sending it through email as an attachment. This way it arrives straight to the inbox of the person you are sending it to.

Note 2 Display Turns On Randomly

Problem: Hello, My Note 2 keeps coming on every few seconds without even touching it. My battery is draining fast because of this. I have not changed any settings, this just started happening today. I have already rebooted 3 times and removed the battery twice. Can you please help me? Thanks.

Solution: When did this issue start? Where there any apps that you installed when the issue started? There may be third party apps that you installed recently that is causing this. The easiest way to check if this is caused by an app is to boot your device in Safe Mode. If the problem does not occur during Safe Moe then you may want to find out what app you recently installed and uninstall it.

  • Turn off the device
  • Press the Power button again, but this time, keep your finger pressed on it together with the Volume Down button.

If the problem still exists then do a factory reset of your device. Make sure to make a backup of your data first.

  • The reset is now complete. The handset will restart.

Note 2 WhatsApp Issue

Problem: Dear The Droid Guy, Hope you are doing good !! After my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 was updated to KitKat 4.4.2 version, my note 2 started hanging very frequently(Black Screen), Auto On/off and when any voice note is been send/received and when its been played then it plays in the black screen and very less audible. Its been 8 months I have brought this Note 2 and I gave the phone for Samsung service center for service and they told the kitKat version was not installed properly and KitKat 4.4.2 was reinstalled by them. Now the Hanging problems is not seen but when I send/Receive any voice notes it plays in Black screen instead of playing in the same window. Please suggest me what needs to be done now ? Hoping for your earliest positive reply.

Solution: Several users of this app appear to have the same issue you are facing. Try clearing the cache of the WhatsApp app first then see if the problem still occurs.

  • From the home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  • Tap Settings.
  • On the More tab, tap Application manager.
  • Tap the All tab.
  • Scroll to and tap WhatsApp
  • Tap Clear cache.
  • The application cache is now cleared.

If the problem still occurs then uninstall WhatsApp then install a fresh copy from the Google Play Store.

Note 2 Backup and Restore

Problem: Hi Team, I have samsung galaxy note 2. I am using it fron last 1 year. I am very satisfied with the performance. Now I want to do factory reset to make my phone more efficient. As I have not done factory reset till yet. My question is : If I will take a backup from kies to my laptop and then I will do the factory reset. And then I will restore my backup data back to my phone. So will my all software will come back or do I have to I install all again all??? Please help me in my confusion. Thanks.

Solution: The data that you can backup from your device using Kies includes contacts, S Memo, S Planner (calendar events), call logs, S Health, Message, videos, music, photos, miscellaneous content files, Story Album, Ringtones, Applications, Alarms, Email account information, and Preferences. Apps such as Instagram, Skype, WhatsApp, or any other third party app that does not come pre-installed in your device will have to be installed again.

To backup data using Kies

  • Connect your device to your computer.
  • Open Kies and click the Back up/Restore tab.
  • If necessary, click Data backup.
  • Mark the checkbox next to the content you want to back up. You can select all content by marking the checkbox next to Select all items. Click Backup.
  • Click Complete when the backup is finished.

To restore data using Kies after performing a factory reset

  • Connect your device to your computer.
  • Open Kies and click the Back up/Restore tab.
  • Click Restore data.
  • Select the backup file to restore to the device from the drop-down. If you cannot find the restore file in the drop-down, scroll to the bottom and click Find file and select the file.
  • Mark the content you want to restore from the backup file, and click Restore.
  • Some items may require additional settings. Choose the desired option and click OK to continue.
  • Click Complete when the restore is finished.

Note 2 Bluetooth Device List

Problem: Each scan adds devices (lots of devices if you do this in the airport). I now have so many devices that I a simple connection now takes 10 minutes, just trying to find the right “SYNC”, or “MyCar”, or Sonata, etc, and I also add any other device within scan distance (lots at the airport). My list length is getting horrendous. There is no apparent method to delete this list. Both in the Bluetooth screens, and even if you attempt “application Manager – All Devices – Bluetooth Share – Clear Data or Clear Cache. So this “list must exist somewhere on the phone”, does anybody know where it is and how to access, will jailbreak if necessary. Samsung confirm that there is no delete option.

Solution: There is no way to delete these devices however there is a way to make them disappear by unpairing them. Make sure your Bluetooth is turned on then click on the settings of each individual paired devices and select unpair. Once it is unpaired the device will no longer appear.

Note 2 “Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available” Error

Problem: Hi, I recently purchased a Galaxy Note II on ebay (GT-N7105). When I try updating I get the error “Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available”. When I check under the phone status it says “modified”. Even when I connect it to my laptop the device doesn’t get recognized. Could you let me know why this might be the case and what I can do about it. Many thanks

Solution: It’s most likely that your device is rooted and running on a custom ROM. If it is running on a custom ROM then updates that are released for your device which is intended for the stock ROM will not work. If you would like to get the software updates then you might want to consider having your device revert to the stock ROM.

Regarding your device not recognized by your laptop it could be a USB cord problem or the USB port of your laptop. Try using a different USB cord then connect it straight to another USB port. You need to connect your phone in mass storage mode for it to be recognized by your laptop.

Note 2 Not Recognized By PC

Problem: I just got a note II and had it flashed from Sprint to Cricket and everything works well but when I connect it to a computer it says that the drivers didn’t down load so I went and downloaded the drivers from Samsung and now my phone is only recognized as a modem please help I am so frustrated

Solution: Assuming that your drivers were downloaded successfully here’s how to connect your device to your computer

  • Select Applications menu on the phone.
  • Now tap Settings.
  • Enter “Wireless and Network tab”.
  • Select USB Utilities and there you shall find the “Connect Storage to PC” option. Check it on.
  • There will be a message saying: “USB Utilities/ Connect USB storage to use mass storage”.
  • Plug device using the Data Cable with the computer.
  • A green android will appear with the message that your phone has been connected.

Note 2 Soft Keys Not Working

Problem: Hi, Could you please tell me how to get soft menu button for my note 2.Menu and back button of my note 2 is not responding so I had to install soft keys while there are back, recent and home button but there is no menu button. With thanks.

Solution: Did you install any app when the problem occurred? If so then the app may be causing this. Try uninstalling it and see if the problem still occurs. To check if any other third party app is causing this try to boot your device in Safe Mode and check if the issue still occurs.

  • Turn off the device
  • Press the Power button again, but this time, keep your finger pressed on it together with the Volume Down button.

If this doesn’t solve the problem then you may want to do a factory reset on your device. Make sure to back up your data first.

If after performing a factory reset and the problem still exists then this could already be a hardware problem and in which case you must bring your device to an authorized service center for checking.

Note 2 Does Not Update

Problem: Hi,I just read your article on problems related to note 2 updates. So here’s mine.. I click on this option of “check for updates” and it does not respond. There’s nothing happening when I click on it! :/ please help . Looking forward to your replies! Troubled user. Thanks.

Solution: First make sure that you have a stable Internet connection when checking for updates. It is best if you use a Wi-Fi connection since the update may be large and may consume your network data quota. Once you have established that the Internet connection is good then check if your device is not rooted and is still running on stock ROM. Reset your device by taking out the battery then pressing on the power button for 10 seconds. Release the power button and replace the battery. Turn on your device and check for updates again and see if it responds.

Galaxy Note 2 “unfortunately dropbox has stopped working”

Problem: Hi Droidguy, Hopefully you can sort out this problem out for me… I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Smartphone in May 2014, and just recently a message: “unfortunately dropbox has stopped working” appears on my screen and my phone switches off only to switch back on again. This happens every 30 seconds, not even giving me a chance to go into my settings to try to sort it out. Dropbox does not give me the option on my phone to uninstall it. I have tried changing my password for dropbox on my iPad but my phone does not seem to recognize the password change. I have also tried taking out the battery to reboot my phone but this does not work either. At the moment, my smartphone is pretty useless if it keeps switching on and off and does not give me a chance to go into any of my other applications. I am now getting desperate…Please Help!

Solution: The first thing that needs to be addressed is the rebooting issue of your device. Once this gets resolved then we can concentrate on the Dropbox issue. Most of the time when a device randomly reboots this is a sign of a glitch in the software. You will need to boot your device in Safe Mode first to see if a third party app is causing this.

To boot in Safe Mode

  • Ensure the device is powered off.
  • Press and hold the Power button until the Samsung logo appears then release.
  • With the Samsung logo on screen, press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Continue to hold the Volume down key until Safe mode appears in the lower left of the screen then release.

Once in Safe Mode check and see if your device still randomly reboots. If not then a third party app is causing this issue. Try to find out what it is and uninstall it.

Regarding the Dropbox issue since you can’t uninstall it then I’m guessing that it came pre-installed on your device when you bought it. One easy way to fix any issues with this app is to clear its cache, data, or uninstall its updates.

  • From the home screen, tap Applications.
  • Scroll to and tap Settings.
  • Scroll to and tap Applications.
  • Tap the All tab.
  • Scroll to and tap Dropbox.
  • Tap Clear cache.

Check and see if Dropbox now works normally. If not then repeat the process but instead of tapping clear cache tap on clear data. Repeat the procedure and click on uninstall updates if the issue still exists.

Galaxy Note 2 Backlight Stays On

Problem: Hello, I have a replacement note 2 from Verizon. The main issue I am having is the back light staying on and not going into sleep mode after 30 second the time I choose to put the phone in sleep mode. It happens at different times and after using different apps from making calls to looking at the news etc. It’s very random and after restarting the phone pulling the battery it still comes and goes. It seems more frequently this week.  I have had the replacement phone for about 2.5 weeks. Any ideas?

Solution: There could be a process running that is keeping your display on. Try booting in Safe Mode to see if any third party app is causing this issue.

If the problem disappears then you need to find the particular app that is causing this and uninstall it.

One alternate way of fixing this is by manually locking the screen after using the device.

Galaxy Note 2 Update Samsung Account Message Always Displayed

Problem: Hi Guys, Great service you are offering. Thanks heaps. I get a constant message that says update Samsung Account With yes and No buttons. When I click no, the message returns. When I click yes a download occurs but so does the message. Over and Over. It’s been happening now for about 2 weeks. Hope you can help.

Solution: Try refreshing your phone first by taking out its battery then pressing the power button for 10 seconds. Replace the battery and ensure that you have a stable Internet connection. If you were previously connected to your Wi-Fi switch to mobile data and if you were previously connected to mobile data try switching over to a Wi-Fi connection. Once the Samsung account message appears again click on yes and see if it will successfully update.

Galaxy Note 2 Sync Issues

Problem: Hello Droidguy.com, I’ve been reading some of your Galaxy Note 2 articles and I find them really helpful. You also said that if ever we (your readers)  need help about something Note 2-related, we just need to send you an email. That’s also why I’m here now. I have one year-old Note 2. It’s now out of warranty.  About a couple weeks ago, it started to display a lot of errors repeatedly.  Something like “Error – Samsung Sync Adapters have stopped” as well as errors about the Internet app stopping and the CloudSync process failing to load, I can’t remember the exact words of the error alerts. Ever since those notifications started to pop up,  I noticed that some of my apps like Google Calendar has stopped syncing with the Google Calendar in my browser. By the way, the OS is still Jelly Bean 4.3. My carrier has not rolled out KitKat yet. Do you know the workaround for these errors? Or if you already posted articles that tackle these, can you give me the links? I would really appreciate it. Thank you very much!

Solution: It appears that your device is displaying multiple error messages. One quick way to resolve this is to do a factory reset which will bring back your device to its original fresh state. Before doing this procedure make sure to back up all your data first.

  • To turn the handset off completely, remove and reinsert the battery.
  • The master reset is now complete. The handset will restart.

After the factory reset your device should work normally.

Galaxy Note 2 Picture Resize Option

Problem: When I first got my Sprint Note 2, if I took a picture with the stock camera app and immediately emailed it to someone, it asked if I wanted to make the picture smaller. As I recall,  the verbiage was something like “would you like to make it 3/4 size,  1/2 size,  1/4 size,  etc”.That option has now disappeared. It just sends the picture at full resolution (usually 2-3MB) and never asks if I want to shrink it. How do I get that feature back?

Solution: It appears that somewhere along the way the always option was clicked for sending photos at full resolution. Try clearing the defaults on the gallery app.

  • From the home screen, tap Applications.
  • Scroll to and tap Settings.
  • Scroll to and tap Applications.
  • Tap the All tab.
  • Scroll to and tap Gallery.
  • Tap Clear Defaults.

If that does not work then back up all your photos first then clear the data from your Gallery.

  • From the home screen, tap Applications.
  • Scroll to and tap Settings.
  • Scroll to and tap Applications.
  • Tap the All tab.
  • Scroll to and tap Gallery.
  • Tap Clear Data.

Galaxy Note 2 Memory Card, Battery Issues

Problem: I have a Galaxy Note 2,  1- I cannot delete some items from my memory card from the phone or chanjing the memory card to an external card to my computer tings wont delete, I get  an error that says “its right protected” What should I do? 2- I am having issues where my Battery isnt charging no matter how many different wall chargers or usb cords I change, or different compatible batteries I change, Sometimes it doesnt charge or the battery drains to 1% then it may charge back up, Sometimes I have to turn the phone totally OFF for it to charge, What do I do?

Solution: Since a microSD card does not have a lock switch like what an SD card has we can rule out the card being in a locked state. You’ve mentioned that even your computer cannot delete the contents in the microSD which is a clear sign that it is already faulty. Try to recover as much data as you can from this card (photos, music, documents) and just use a new microSD.

As far as the battery issue is concerned since you have already isolated a possible problem with the charger and battery then the issue may already be with the phone itself. Check the charging port contact and see if there is any accumulation of dirt. Sometimes this dirt will cause problems with charging. If you see any dirt then take out the phone battery and clean the charging port contact with cotton dipped in alcohol.

If you are still having a charging problems after this then you might want to bring your device to an authorized service center for checking.

Galaxy Note 2 WhatsApp Voice Record Problem

Problem: Dear The Droid Guy, I previously sent you an email concerning the whatsapp recording problem. Well I tried clearing the cache and reinstalling but that did not work. The peculiar thing about it is: if I forward the distorted voice note in whatsapp from my note 2 to another phone the other phone can hear it normally with no distortion. So I suspect its something between whatsapp and my note 2 in specific. If I use the recording In another app there is no distortion. I hope you can a find some solution to this. Thank you a million!

Solution: It looks like there may be compatibility issues between the app and your device. This could be caused by interference by another app. To check on this you might want to do a factory reset on your device then installing the WhatsApp app afterwards. Make sure to back up your data first.

  • To turn the handset off completely, remove and reinsert the battery.
  • The master reset is now complete. The handset will restart.

Access Google Play Store and download WhatsApp. After installing the app check and see if the problem still occurs. If not then download the apps that you use one at a time constantly checking on the WhatsApp recording function after every app installation. This allows you to easily pinpoint which app may be causing the problem.

Galaxy Note 2 Screen Mirroring Issue

Problem: Dear droidguy, It was all nice and dandy between my  note 2 and  the  Samsung Allshare Cast. Only  recently i realized the dongle doesnt work with my  device I reset the dongle multiple times with  no  avail Im running kitkat 4.4.2. Is  there  a known issue?

Solution: Try checking for any new updates that have been released for your Note 2. An update was released that specifically addressed this issue. If your phone is running on the latest software then a factory reset is highly recommended. Be sure to back up all your data first.

Galaxy Note 2 Video Loads Slow

Problem: Hi driod guy! It’s been a year I have been part of Samsung galaxy note 2 . It’s an amazing phone I have always been in love with it. But since a month back I face problems in using YouTube . The videos take time to load and moreover it’s the same story for every video. Expecting to hear from you.

Solution: First make sure that you have fast and stable Internet connection. To verify this try using another device and access YouTube. If the videos load normally then we can safely assume that the problem isn’t caused by the connection.

Our next point of concentration is the YouTube app itself. Make sure that you are using the latest update of the app. You need to clear the cache of the app since an accumulation of cached data may cause this issue.

  • From the home screen, tap Applications.
  • Scroll to and tap Settings.
  • Scroll to and tap Applications.
  • Tap the All tab.
  • Scroll to and tap YouTube.
  • Tap Clear cache.

Usually after the cache has been cleared your videos should load normally now.

If there is still a lag then you might want to check the available memory of your device. There may be lots of apps running in the background causing your device to have little available RAM. Try to close these running apps.

Galaxy Note 2 Not Charging

Problem: So my note 2 didn’t even want to charge up today. The thing is that 2 days ago, I accidentally slipped my phone inside a warm water bowl and the phone was dipped in for like 1 inch around the usb area. When the phone dipped down in the bowl, the phone was actually charged at the first before I slipped it. Along with the phone, the still-on-charging usb cable was also fell into the water too. I immediately turned off the charger and let it dry with a clean cloth. That’s when it started out the problem. Sometimes I can charge my phone when it is still on and some other time it can be charged only when it was turned off. I can still reboot my phone as usual but I think the problem was the phone itself already causes problems. I can still charge yesterday only after I tried to turn off the phone. But today, I tried to charge my phone with several chargers and still won’t charge. Anyone please help me?

Solution: It appears that your phone has suffered water damage. There may be some components inside that have shorted due to the contact with water. Your best option right now is to bring your phone to an authorized service center and have the internal hardware checked for the extent of the damage.

Galaxy Note 2 Takes Too Long To Charge

Problem: Hey droid guy, I need a help with my note 2. I recently purchased a note 2 around 4 mnths bak. Still in warranty. my phone is taking too much time to charge (11 hrs) It was all ok d previoys day. M using the original charger and battery is good tooI installed Galaxy Charging current app from play store and found dat my phone is getting very low mAh of charge 900 instead of 1698. And upon jus touching the charger the charging either stops or mAh drops to 200 mAh of input. Again m nt able to transfer files from pc also by connecting it with the data cable. I visited the samsung genuine service centre they told me about my PCB being damaged bt wont be replaced for free as dey can see a small white coating over the charging point indicating moisture getting inside the phone (maybe from sweat from my pocket where I keep my phone as my phone never got drenched/drowned in water). They r asking for a huge sum of money  which I want to avoid!!  So is derr any way dat I can get rid of dat white coating by any means of cleaning and get my PCB replaced for free!!! My phone got its mother board replaced for free upon jus a month of purchase and has been giving some or other problem from the time it was out of the box Major one is battery backup!! Only 5 hrs. So is it that I got a faulty model from samsung???

P.S. – The litmus paper shows no indication of water seeping in. Its jus the white coating in the charging point in PCB!!! Plzz help me

Solution: The most qualified personnel to check your device are those at the Samsung service center. If they think that it is a PCB issue then they must have a good reason to say so. Regarding the charging issue that you are facing have you tried using a different battery and charger on your device and see if the charging rate improves? Although you only got your device 4 months ago there is a tendency that the battery or charger may be faulty. As for the white coating on the charging point we don’t have any personal experience in taking it out but I would suggest trying to wipe it with cotton dipped in alcohol. Make sure your phone is off and that the battery is taken out before doing this procedure. If it doesn’t come off then your best option is to really have the PCB replaced.

Galaxy Note 2 Bluetooth Issues After KitKat Update

Problem: Hey guys, LOVE your “Dripper for the Samsung Note 2”. A few weeks ago I downloaded the KitKat upgrade from AT&T wireless and noticed that my Bose Bluetooth headset was dying after only 3 hours. I contacted Bose right away, thinking the battery was dying. Being the GREAT company that they are, the said to send it in. Meanwhile I’ve been using my old Jabra headset. It too started to die after about 2 hours ( well, I thought maybe it’s just old). Last night I received my brand new Bose and charged it all night. Well today it died after 3 hours. I don’t think I have a headset problem.

Solution: This could be caused by a weak Bluetooth connection that’s causing your Bluetooth device to use more power to connect to your phone. Try checking if there are any new software updates for your device. Usually, these small updates will contain patches and enhancements that will fixes issues such as this. If you haven’t done a factory reset on your phone after the KitKat update try doing it as this usually solves most of the issues encountered after updating a device. Just make sure to backup all of your important data first.

  • Turn off device
  • With the handset turned off, press and hold the Volume Up key
  • While holding down the Volume Up key, press and hold the Home key.
  • With both the Volume Up key and the Home key held down, press and hold the Power key.
  • Release all three keys when the Samsung logo appears.
  • Press the Volume Down key to scroll to wipe data/factory reset.
  • With wipe data/factory reset highlighted, press the Power key.
  • Press the Volume Down key to scroll to Yes –delete all user data.
  • With Yes –delete all user data highlighted, press the Power key
  • Once the wipe is complete, press the Power key to select reboot system now.
  • The master reset is now complete. The handset will restart.

Galaxy Note 2 Language Issues

Problem: I usually use 2 languages on the keyboard and it was warning just fine and I was able to switch easily between both languages. But suddenly it stopped working and it shows only one language although both languages is activated in the setting. My device is Note 2 running on android 4.4.2 . What should I do?

Solution: Have you installed any third party application during the time this problem started? Most users have reported that certain apps affect the use of 2 languages on the stock keyboard of the Note 2. Try booting your device in Safe Mode and see if the problem still exists. If not then you may want to try uninstalling the app that is causing this.

To boot in Safe Mode

Galaxy Note 2 Camera Turning Off Shutter

Problem: Hi droidguy, I have been following you for a long time now and think that you’re doing amazing work! Please keep it up for the Note 2 even if the Note 4 is just around the corner. Today even I have a question regarding my Note2 LTE. It’s unrooted and ever since I got the KitKat update here in Sweden I just cannot get the camera shutter sound to turn off. I know it was possible before, but somehow Samsung has taken away that option now when I go into my camera settings. I have searched the internet and the only solutions that people are recommending is to root the phone. I really don’t want to do that! Is there any other way apart from rooting to get rid of that annoying sound? I take a lot of pictures of birds here in the countryside and that shutter sound just scares them away. It’s awful. I very much appreciate your help!

Solution: Some countries require the sound to be played when taking a photo. Rooting a device can actually eliminate this sound since you will have access to the folder in your device that stores the sound and simply rename it. Since rooting is not an option another workaround to this is to place your device in silent mode before taking a photo. This ensures that no shutter sound will be played when you take a photo.

Galaxy Note 2 Titanium Backup Issue

Problem: Recently I’ve rooted my NOTE 2 n 1st flashed it with DN3 V5.2 Custom ROM successfully. Then I installed Titanium Backup free version & backed up all my Apps. Later I flashed a different ROM CM11.But this time after I flashed, I downloaded Titanium Backup from Play Store n installed in order to Restore my backed up Apps. But it showed a msg stating “Your SU binary is installed successfully bit might not work properly. Either Update or….” I dont remember the entire msg. But since then I’ve tried many times to Reboot n Re-install Titanium bkup, even I wiped data/factory reset but it still won’t work. I even tried flashing a different ROM,  LiquidSmooth ROM, n still Titanium Backup won’t work after installation. But it DOES WORK in the 1st ROM,  DN3 V5.2 &  i can successfully Restore my previous apps using Titanium Backup. But u want to flash newer ROMs n still use my previous apps via Restoring through Titanium Backup. Please please please help. U r my last resort. Please help me out of this loop. Thanks a ton in advance!

Solution: The way I see it is that you might have backed up all system data when you first performed the procedure. If you chose the option that says BACKUP ALL SYSTEM DATA and BACKUP ALL USER APPS + SYSTEM DATA then you will not be able to use this on a different ROM other than your DN3 V5.2 Custom ROM. What you need to do choose is the BACKUP ALL USER APPS option and hit the RUN button.

The reason why you cannot restore your data that custom ROMs have their own system files which will have compatibility issues with system files of other ROMs.

Galaxy Note 2 Wi-Fi Does Not Turn On

Problem: I have a problem of WiFi in Samsung Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100. My Wifi don’t turn on. When I want to turn on the WiFi it says “Security policy restricts the use of WiFi”, soon I discovered that Microsoft Exchange Activesync has set a policy that they should disable WiFi. But how could I change this policy? And why they would even dare to give such a policy. But I don’t want to delete my account as if I deleted,  even if I gave correct Email and password, it would show that my email or password is wrong, and either there couldn’t be any chance to be hacked, as I used security systems and gave a hard password. I want solutions immediately at your coloum named Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Problems, Errors and their Solutions ” and wanting in next part of that please.

Solution: Are you trying to access your company email using your company Exchange server? If so then you might want to contact your IT administrator regarding this issue. They may have activated some restrictions in the way the emails are accessed.

Another possible cause of this is that you have a proxy setting enabled in your Wi-Fi connection. Try removing the proxy and see if the error message still pops up. Make sure to take note of the proxy setting since you may want to use it again.

  • Touch the “Settings” icon;
  • Touch “Wireless & networks” > “Wi-Fi”;
  • Touch & hold your network in the list of Wi-Fi networks;
  • Touch “Modify network” in the dialog that opens;
  • Select “Show advanced option”;
  • Touch “None” under Proxy Settings, then touch “Manual” in the menu that opens.
  • Clear the proxy box, make sure nothing stays there.
  • Touch Save.

Galaxy Note 2 Charging Problem

Problem: Hi, recently I’ve been having a lot of trouble charging my phone. I put it on charge about 1030am and take it of about 7am and it only gets to 60% charge, then it draines the battery even if I’m not using it. I don’t know what to do. The original charger I had did the same thing so I bought a new one 3 months ago and it’s just started again. Could it be the battery or just the charger or both? Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks heaps!

Solution: One of the most common causes of a phone having battery problems is the battery itself. Try using a new battery on your device and see if the problem still occurs. Also, try using the wall charger when charging your device instead of just connecting it on a USB port.

Galaxy Note 2 Turn Off electronic Voice Announcing Text Message

Problem: I must’ve inadvertently made some changes to my phone and now i get the electronic lady’s voice announcing all my incoming text messages. I can’t figure out how to disable it. Can you assist me in turning it off? thanks in advance!

Solution: First make sure that driving mode is turned off. Go to  Settings>Accessibility (under the System heading) turn off TalkBack which is under the Services heading and, still under Accessibility, go to Text-to Speech-Output which is under the Vision heading and there under the General heading you have the option to turn off the Driving Mode.

Galaxy Note 2 Slow After 4.3 Update

Problem: Anyone else noticing a really drastic change in how the phone operates since updating? I find my Note 2 so sluggish and slow to respond along with being somewhat choppy since updating. It used to be much more fluent.

Galaxy Note 2 Network Connection Issues

Problem: Hey I updated my note 2 to 4.4.2..from 4.3 I have problem with the network connection..After coming from out of coverage area it doesn’t get connected to the preferred network..every time I have manual search or activate flight mode and disable it to get network..I did factory reset and checked in safe mode also..from past few days Internet is also not getting switched on.. Many thanks for your help in advance.. looking forward to hear from u.

Solution: Try to check if there are any new updates for your device. Updates usually have fixes that solves most issues a device is facing. Since you already did a factory reset can you try using a different SIM in your device and see if the problem occurs? If not then this may be a problem with your SIM which you will need to replace.

Galaxy Note 2 Using Different Software

Problem: hello Droidguy, i need your help , i just bought a Used samsung galaxy Note 2 and since i am not that much of an expert i did not check it much so I bought it and when i got home and try to put the SIM card it showed lots of strange stuff and that it has a Galaxy not 3 software on it instead of Note 2 ,is it possible to change it back to it is original software?? is it what they call rooting `?? you are my last hope since you are the expert 🙂 many thanks in advance for your help and support and looking forward to hear from you soon.

Solution: One of the issues a customer usually faces when buying a used mobile device is that if that device is still using its own stock software or if it is using a custom ROM. In your case the Note 2 you are using is probably using a custom ROM and you want it to revert back to its stock software. This can be done however you will need some experience in flashing Android devices. If you haven’t done this before then I suggest you search some of the popular forums on how it is done. You will need a program called Odin which is used to flash back the original ROM. You will also need a copy of the original ROM of your device. If you are uncomfortable with the process and are afraid that you might brick your device then you might want to ask for help from your friends or from an experienced technician who knows how to flash Android devices.

Galaxy Note 2 Turns Off When Not Plugged

Problem: Hello, I am having issues with my Samsung Galaxy Note II shutting off when it is not plugged in, but it has shut off a few times when plugged in as well.  This just started happening yesterday out of nowhere.  After it shuts off, I have to take out the battery and plug it in to get it to turn back on.  And when it has shut off, it has had a charged battery.  If I try and turn it back on when it is not plugged on, it freezes at boot.  It stays on the black screen that says Samsung Galaxy Note II in white until the battery actually dies.  The only way it will turn back on regularly is if it is plugged in.  Do you have any idea what this could be?  Thank you in advance!

Solution: The first thing to do is to isolate the possible cause of this problem. We are going to focus on the battery charger, microSD, and the device itself. First take out the microSD and see if the issue still occurs. A corrupt microSD may affect the normal operation of your device. If the problem still occurs then try replacing your battery with a known good one. A faulty battery may cause your device to turn off unexpectedly. Try using a different charger as well preferably one that is made by Samsung.

If after isolating the battery, charger, and microSD you are still experiencing the same issue then it’s time to focus on the unit itself. First try to boot your device in Safe Mode to check if certain third party apps are causing this behavior.

  • Ensure the device is powered off.
  • To power off, press and hold the Power button (located on the right edge).
  • Select Power off.
  • Select OK.
  • Press and hold the Power button until the Samsung logo appears then release.
  • With the Samsung logo on screen, press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Continue to hold the Volume down key until Safe mode appears in the lower left of the screen then release.

Observe your device and see if it still shuts off. If not then you might want to isolate the third party app that is causing this and uninstall it.

If in Safe Mode the problem still occurs then this issue is most likely caused by a faulty hardware. You might want to try bringing your device to an authorized service center to have it checked.

Galaxy Note 2 Very Slow Charging

Problem: Hi there! I did not use my Samsung Note 2 for almost 3 months and when i started using it again i noticed the charging is really slow it would only go fully charged if i charge it for a day or sometimes i charge it before i sleep (10hrs) and i wake up it still hasn’t fully charged. My phone is only 1 year old.  Pls Help! thanks!

Solution: Are you using the original wall charger for charging your device? If you are then the most likely cause of this is a faulty battery. Try getting a new battery and see if this solves the issue.

Galaxy Note 2 Random Restart After Rooting

Problem: Hello The Droid Guy, Wanna start by saying thanks for your posts, they are really great and always informative. Keep up the good work. Now to my problem which I hope you will be able to help me. I have a note 2 which I manually updated to official 4.4.2. because it was rooted in so I could not automatically receive the update. The problem comes after I root the device, it starts to randomly restart. I have tried all the different rooting methods I can find on the Internet but with the same result. Once I flash back the room everything works fine. I’ve tried clearing cache,  dalvik but with no success. So the random restarts can occur like when am updating apps, launch a game or app, I plug in a charger etc. So within an hour it can restart 4-6 times when am using it. There’s no definite pattern and it only occurs after I root my device. On 4.3 room I never had this problem.  I don’t want to do factory restore besides there’s no guarantee that it will also work. I can’t seem to understand the relationship between rooting and this restarting problem. Maybe there are other rooting methods I can try that would be great. Thanks for you time. Waiting for your suggestions. Regards.

Solution: I don’t think rooting your device caused this rebooting issue. The most likely scenario is that when you updated your device to Android 4.4.2 some data from the previous software have been left behind which is causing this issue. Unfortunately, to verify if this is the case a factory reset must be performed. Just make sure to make a backup of all your data first before doing the procedure.

  • Turn your phone off.
  • With the phone off, press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key. You’ll see the Android recovery screen.
  • Scroll to Wipe Data/Factory Reset using the Volume Up or Down keys. Select with the power key.
  • Scroll down to Yes, Delete User Data and select it.
  • Back on the first screen, scroll down to Wipe Cache Partition and select it.
  • Your factory reset is now complete.
  • Go to Reboot System Now to restart the phone.

After your device has restarted try observing it first. Don’t install any third party apps yet. If the problem does not occur then start installing your apps one at a time at the same time observing if a reboot occurs. What you want to do is to check if any app is causing this issue.

Solution: What you need to do first is to boot your device in Safe Mode so that only the necessary apps are loaded.

Once in Safe Mode observe your device and see if it gets hot or reboots. If the problem does not occur then this issue is most likely caused by a third party app which you have to find and uninstall.

If the problem still occurs then try doing a factory reset on your device. You must make a backup of all your data first before doing this procedure.

Galaxy Note 2  Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Issue

Problem: Dear Friend, You are indeed doing a marvellous job helping people to resolve their issues with note 2. I too have a problem with my note 2 which is just 18 months old and out of warranty.  Since last few months, note 2 wifi and bluetooth dont work consistently. Infact, these 2 services doesn’t start at all. Funnily, if I tap with moderate pressure at the back of note 2, then wifi and bluetooth work but that’s only few times. Sometimes wifi and bluetooth without tapping also. I got it checked from Samsung service centre where they said that the network IC (or something like that) is damaged. Need your help. Can you pls suggest some cheaper way…could this issue be a software issue and not necessarily a hardware issue?

Solution: From the way you described the problem it really looks like a hardware concern. When the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi works only by applying slight pressure at the back of the device is a clear indication that there is a faulty component. Just follow the advice given by the technicians over at the Samsung service center as they are the most qualified to make an assessment of your device. If the network IC needs to be replaced then this is the cheapest way possible to get your device fixed.

Galaxy Note 2 Old Emails Marked As New After Update

Problem: Ever since I’ve updated my Galaxy Note 2 to the new 4.4 update, my stock email app keeps marking old emails as new, even after I go back in and mark it as read. The email address set up for the app is not Gmail, Yahoo, or any other free email. I do have a couple Gmail accounts set up using the Gmail app, but I don’t have any problems with those. Any thoughts?

Solution: Try deleting your email account on the stock email app then add it again. Several owners of the Note 2 who have experienced this very same problem say that this has solved their issue. Also, try accessing your email from the server and delete the emails from there. This will permanently delete the emails and when your device syncs with the email server it won’t download the deleted emails.

Galaxy Note 2 Comma Issue

Problem: Dear TheDroidGuy, hi! Do you know how can we get back the comma from the bottom right of the keyboard? Since the last update, the comma disappeared from the default samsung keyboard. Now we must long-press the same button (which is an endpoint)…My Note2 is Kitkat 4.4.2 Thanks for your attention!

Solution: Since this is the new default keyboard for your device there’s no way of changing it unless you install a third party keyboard app that suits your needs.

Galaxy Note 2 Does Not Read MicroSD

Problem: my note 2 cannot read mcr sd card suddenlly. i ve tried many ways but they were not hlp @ all. do u guys knw wht hpnd 2 my phn?

Solution: This could be caused by a faulty microSD card or a faulty microSD slot contact in your device. First power off your device and take out the microSD. Clean the metal contacts of the microSD slot on your device with cotton dipped in alcohol. Let it dry for a couple of seconds then insert the microSD and turn on your device. If the microSD gets recognized then the issue might have been caused by the accumulation of dirt which prevents your device from reading the memory card. If the problem still exists then try using a new microSD card as the one you are using might be corrupted.

Galaxy Note 2 WhatsApp Voice Record Problem

Problem: Dear The Droid Guy, I hope this email finds you well. After i upgraded my note 2 to kitkat 4.4.2 using the official firmware and through odin I’ve  been having the following problem: Every time i receive a whatsapp voice record (the one where u press the microphone and release it to send) the voice that comes out of my speaker is distorted very badly and it sounds like a metallic voice talking and i dont understand anything and its very frustrating. The weird thing is that if i send a voice record it is not distorted. If i copy and send the voice record i received, the receiver also hears it distorted. My speaker has nothing wrong with it as i use it for phone calls and music very normally. My microphone is also intact as i use it to record songs and they play normally. I hope this information helps you out. If you need me to test things with my note 2 please do tell me.. Thank you for reading this long email.

Solution: Try using another messaging app that has a voice recording ability, record your voice and see if the problem occurs. If it doesn’t occur then it must be a problem with WhatsApp. What you need to do is to uninstall it and get a new copy from the Google Play Store. Before uninstalling the app make sure to clear its cache first.

  • From the home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  • Tap Settings.
  • On the More tab, tap Application manager.
  • Tap the All tab.
  • Scroll to and tap WhatsApp.
  • Tap Clear cache.
  • The application cache is now cleared.

After this uninstall the app.

Get a fresh copy of WhatsApp from the Google Play Store and after it has installed reboot your device. Now check and see if you are still having any voice recording issues.

Galaxy Note 2 NFC Not Working

Problem: Hello TGD, im having a problem with my note 2, nfc used to work fine, after a while when i start nfc it gets stuck and doesn’t turn green, tried updating and factory reset nothing worked, I’m still on the original battery that came with the phone. Is there anything i can do to fix it?

Solution: You may have already done this but have you tried checking the NFC on your settings and toggle it

  • From the Home screen, touch Menu, then select
  • Settings > More settings.
  • Touch NFC to turn NFC On or Off.

Next, check on the back plate and see if the NFC antenna is still attached. If it’s missing then you might have found the cause of the problem.

Since you already performed a factory reset then we can safely assume that this issue isn’t caused by any third party app. If the issue still persists then there could be something wrong on the hardware side in which case you must bring this to an authorized service center for checking.

Galaxy Note 2 Font Changes In Clock Widget

Problem: Hey , I am having a little problem with my note 2 international N7100 After I updated it with kit kat the digital clock widget is showing abominable behavior … For example if I exit an app pressing the home button …which takes me to my home screen where there is this digital clock widget … what happens is the font size of the clock changes ..For instance the minutes become huge when compared to the hours !! .. I have tried wiping the cache partition and also performed the factory reset twice but it didn’t help .. overall I am fed up with this phone

Solution: If after performing a factory reset and the font size of the digital clock widget still changes you might want to try changing the system font and see if this solves the issue. Go to Settings -> Device -> Font -> Font style. Try using the different font styles available and see if it has any effect on the font size of your clock widget.

You might also want to check if there are any system updates available for your device. An update contains various performance enhancements and bug fixes which may solve this issue.

If the problem still exists then you might want to consider using a different clock widget which you can download over at the Google Play Store.

Galaxy Note 2 Error 24 In Google Play Store

Problem: Hi, I have been trying to figure out whats going on with this unknown error that shows up when i tried to download an app from google play. I had the -110 earlier but i got it fixed and now this -24 comes up! Do u guys have the same problem? Anyway i can fix it? Thanks for all ur help

Solution: An Error 24 usually occurs when data from a previous app installation is still present in your device. When you try to install a newer version of the app the Google Play Store does not know how to deal with the leftover data which is why the Error 24 occurs.

To fix this you will need to have a file manager as well as root access on your device. Open your file manager app then go to android/data/ then find the folder of the particular app that you are trying to install. Delete this folder. Now go back to the Google Play Store and try to install the app. The error message will now be gone.

In some cases you might not have access to specified path. In this case you will have to do a factory reset on you device to solve the issue. Make sure to backup all your important data first.

Galaxy Note 2 Not Receiving MMS

Problem: As much as I love my note 2, I an ready to run over it with my car. It just randomly stopped receiving or sending MMS with pictures and I thought it was the wifi/data enabled-disabled issue but that didn’t work for me because I hardly ever use wifi. I’m using AT&T, is there any way for me to fix this?

Solution: Try checking on your MMS settings and compare it with the AT&T MMS settings and see if they match. Go to Settings > More settings > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names.

AT&T APN Settings

  • Name: ATT
  • APN: wap.cingular
  • Proxy: <Leave in Blank>
  • Port: <Leave in Blank>
  • Username: [email protected]

  • MMSC: https://mmsc.cingular.com

  • MCC: 310
  • MNC: 410
  • Authentication type: <Leave in Blank>

  • APN Protocol: Leave it to the Default one

Is something is different you can edit it and change it.

Galaxy Note 2 Battery Drain Issue

Problem: I have a huge battery drain problem on my Note 2, a couple of days after the 4.3 update. While being idle during the night it loses 25% to 30% of its battery and while using it I can literally see the percentage drop. I have tried everything that I could find on the net. EVERYTHING! Nothing worked. These included: Factory reset (twice), letting the battery drain completely and then recharging it while the phone was switched off, switching off all sync, disabling bloatware including KNOX components (the actual KNOX app is not installed), installing only a few apps after factory reset, using Gsam, Wakelock detector, Deep sleep battery saver (which could not make my phone sleep), no GPS, no 3G, wifi on only when needed and more besides. The phone is only one year old, unlocked and unrooted. On 4.1.2 it had a beastly battery performance of almost 1.5 days of normal to heavy use, with 300 apps on it. Now it cannot go for more than a few hours with the same use and a fraction of the apps. Gmail, Email, Google+, Google Newstand, Google music, Google Books and more besides are disabled. Help.

Solution: A lot of owners of the Galaxy Note 2 have also experienced battery issues after upgrading to the 4.3 update. While these issues are usually resolved with a factory reset it seems that in your case this didn’t work. Aside from checking if there are new updates for your particular model you can also try using another battery and see if the battery drain issue gets resolved.

Galaxy Note 2 “Unfortunately maps has stopped working”

Problem: I’ve been getting the following error message “unfortunately maps has stopped working”. The error appears to occur indiscriminately. I’ve gone online but cannot seem to find a fix. I’ve un installed the last update and reinstalled the latest. I’ve reset my phone but to no avail. Does anyone have a solution?

Solution: What you want to do is to clear the cache and data of the Google Maps app. To do this go to Settings > Apps > All tab > Maps. Click on Clear Cache then Clear Data. Exit from this and open Google Maps and see if the “unfortunately maps has stopped working” still exists. Clearing the cache and data of the app will most likely resolve this issue.

In the event that the error message still pops up then try booting your device in Safe Mode. What we want to determine if there are any third party apps that causes Google Maps to stop working and the best way to do this is to start the device in Safe Mode.

Open Google Maps and if no error message pops up then you may want to start finding and uninstalling the offending third party app.

Galaxy Note 2 Forgot PIN

Problem: help! I was changing from pattern unlock to my regular PIN and I guess I put it in wrong so it’s not taking it on my lockscreen. There is no option to reset it from the lockscreen. Thank you in advance!

Solution: When you enter the wrong unlock pattern too many times the Galaxy Note 2 will lock itself. To gain access to your device simply click on forgot password. You will be asked either to enter your Google username and password or your backup pin details to unlock the device.

Galaxy Note 2 Anti-Virus Question

Problem: I just recently got a Samsung Note 2. On my PC and Laptop, I keep things pretty locked down with security and anti-virus. However, now I’m reading that it is very important to also run an anti-virus app for security, as the Note 2 is more like a tablet with its Android OS than it is a regular phone. I was wondering if this is true and it necessary to run one (just to be safe). Would I regret not having it as a backup and any advice on which kind is best would be appreciate (I’m willing to buy it so it doesn’t have to be free).

Solution: Google is saying that the Android operating system is a secure platform and that devices don’t really need anti-virus software to run. This may be true since in order for a malware to run in your device you must give it permission first. The problem is that most apps are asking for way to much permissions such as accessing your contacts and messages when they really don’t need to. Apps such as these can easily be exploited and injected with a malware without the user knowing. Most of the time when apps are downloaded from third party markets there is a risk of getting your device infected with a virus. Even the Google Play Store sometimes has apps that are infected with a virus but these are immediately detected and removed. Just to be on the safe side you can install any popular anti-virus app available for Android devices. There’s really no best software right now as most of the products available seem to do a good job. Just check them out and see which one suits you better. What you should be looking out for is that the software should not slow down your device and that it should be updated constantly with the latest definitions.

Galaxy Note 2 Negative Color

Problem: Hi, I seem to have changed something in error in the phone and now the entire display throughout the entire phone is in a negative look. By which I mean all the photographs, icons, backgrounds everything is in reverse colours like a negative photograph. Its driving me crazy…I cant remember what it was i pushed or where I was in the phone when i did it but if some wiser person than me has the answer I’d be very gratefull.

Solution: Try going to settings – Accessibility – Negative Colors

Galaxy Note 2 Facebook Photos Showing In Gallery

Problem: I dont think I changed any settings, and under FB the sync pictures is off, but suddenly all my albums from FB are loading into my gallery. When I go to the applications>all>gallery and delete the data, the pics disappear for a bit then they reload. I cant find whats doing it. I dont mind my drop box accounts, but dont want FB. Help

Solution: Make sure that photo syncing is disabled on your Facebook app by going to its settings. Next go to settings > application manager > all > gallery and clear cache then clear data. Restart your device and see if the Facebook photos are still showing.

If they still are then go to settings, accounts and sync, you should be able to see Facebook sync along with  Google and other apps, just remove Facebook  and tell it to only sync contacts.

Problem: Hi, I only use the stock messaging app. As of today it is apparently stuck at “1” under the notification. i tried to open up all the texts to get ride of it but cant. Also restarted, rebooted and cleared the app data the phone but no luck. any advice?

Solution: First try going to Settings > Apps> All tab > Messaging then click on Clear cache. If the “1” still appears then go to go to application manager – all apps – “badgeprovider” – clear data then restart your device.

Galaxy Note 2 Does Not Automatically Connect To Saved Network

Problem: Dear Droid Guy, Thank you for your series on Note 2 problems. I have read them all and find them very interesting and helpful. I have a Note 2, model SCH-I605 and am on Verizon. Prior to the KitKat update, the WiFi functioned normally as in automatically connecting to saved networks. In Number 15 of your series, another user had a WiFi problem after updating rather different than what I have run into. My problem is that the phone does not automatically connect to a saved network. If I leave home and get out of range, when I return home it does not automatically reconnect as it did in the past. I did not change any settings from before the update. The only way I can get it to reconnect is to pull down the notification bar and turn off WiFi and turn it back on. It doesn’t work if I go to the settings menu and turn WiFI off and then on. When I go to a new place and scan, I will get the local network. After I log on and hit connect, the phone will try for a few seconds and come back with “Saved” under the network. If I use the “dodge” mentioned above, the phone will then connect. The one thing I have tried is the “soft reset” you have recommended as a fix for other problems – turn the phone off, remove the battery and hold the Power button for at least fifteen seconds. That didn’t help. I’ve considered the factory reset but as of now don’t know how to do a complete backup/restore. If I have to, I’ll figure it out. Thanks again for all of your work.

Solution: Some owners of the Note 2 have also experienced this issue when they upgraded to KitKat. Try forgetting the network before performing a soft reset on your device. Before turning on your Note 2 turn off your router then turn it back on after 30 seconds. Now check if you can connect to your Wi-Fi network normally. If the problem still occurs you might want to get to your router settings and try changing the channel and see which one works best with your device.

You might want to do a factory reset if all else fails but then you must backup your data first.

The easiest way backup your data is by using the latest Kies software.

  • Connect your device to your computer.
  • Open Kies and click the Back up/Restore tab.
  • If necessary, click Data backup.
  • Mark the checkbox next to the content you want to back up. You can select all content by marking the checkbox next to Select all items. Click Backup.
  • Click Complete when the backup is finished

After performing the factory reset you can easily restore your data using Kies

  • Connect your device to your computer.
  • Open Kies and click the Back up/Restore tab.
  • Click Restore data.
  • Select the backup file to restore to the device from the drop-down. If you cannot find the restore file in the drop-down, scroll to the bottom and click Find file and select the file.
  • Mark the content you want to restore from the backup file, and click Restore.
  • Some items may require additional settings. Choose the desired option and click OK to continue.
  • Click Complete when the restore is finished.

Galaxy Note 2 Battery Issues

Problem: Hello, I was wondering if you could help me I purchased a new battery for a note 2 from samsung the problem is the phone was reset so no apts are running.. but even when the phone is completely charged and I shut it off the next morning I turn it on and the battery is almost dead. I do t use the phone I want to but bc of this issue I have not activated it yet do you have any suggestions. Thank you.

Solution: There could be various reasons as to why this is happening. First, the battery that you purchased may be faulty. Second, the charger itself may be faulty and may not be providing the correct charge to the battery. Third, your phone is reporting an incorrect charge level. What you need to do first is to check your device with another battery and see if it works normally. Try also using another charger (preferably one made by Samsung) and see if that works. Before charging your device boot it in Safe mode then leave it to fully charge. Once fully charged observe it and see if it loses its charge quickly.

To boot to Safe mode

  • Power off the device.
  • Press and hold the Power/Lock key for one or two seconds to turn on the device.
  • When the Samsung logo displays, press and hold the Volume down key until the lock screen displays.
  • When the Lock screen is displayed, Safe mode is displayed in the lower-left corner of the screen. To exit Safe mode, restart your device.

If you are still having issues then you might want to bring your device to an authorized service center as this may already be caused by a faulty hardware.

Galaxy Note 2 Bluetooth Randomly Disconnects During Calls

Problem: Hi droid guy, I have an issue with my note 2 on verizon. I got the kit kat update and ever since when i am using my bluetooth headset during a call my headset turns off then back on then i get a message that bluetooth stopped working. This happens during important phone calls and is very annoying. Can you suggest a way to fix this? Thanks!

Solution: This is a problem most Verizon customers are facing after they upgraded their device to KitKat. To make sure that it isn’t a third-party app interfering with the Bluetooth connection boot your device in Safe mode and try using your Bluetooth headset in making a call. There are instances when communication apps (such as Viber) can cause the disconnections.

To enable Safe Mode

  • Power off the device.
  • Press and hold the Power/Lock key for one or two seconds to turn on the device.
  • When the Samsung logo displays, press and hold the Volume down key until the lock screen displays.
  • When the Lock screen is displayed, Safe mode is displayed in the lower-left corner of the screen. To exit Safe mode, restart your device.

If the Bluetooth works fine right now then you might want to start uninstalling any third party calling and/or texting apps installed in your device.

If the issue still persists then try to unpair then pair the Bluetooth headset. Under the Note 2 Bluetooth settings set the visibility timeout to “never timeout”.

Galaxy Note 2 KitKat Upgrade Issues

Problem: Hi, I have just updated to Kit Kat and since then I have been having issues, when I charge my phone with the official charger the phone says it’s connected and charging but when I wake up around 4 hrs later it is down to 15% from 75%, at first I thought may be it was my charger but I have tried other chargers and same thing. When I plug in to a USB to charge on a PC it looses charge. It doesn’t do this every time but it is annoying. Also when listening to music using online radio in my car I get to a certain point on the road where the signal drops to 2 bars 4G and it will disconnect and the bars go full and it will not connect to data without a restart, calls are ok. Any suggestions would be great. I have disconnected the battery and no joy.

Solution: Since you are experiencing multiple issues with your device after the KitKat update then the best thing to do right now is to perform a factory reset. You must backup all of your data first before performing this process.

  • Turn off device
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key.
  • While holding down the Volume Up key, press and hold the Home key.
  • With both the Volume Up key and the Home key held down, press and hold the Power key.
  • Release all three keys when the Samsung logo appears.
  • Press the Volume Down key to scroll to wipe data/factory reset
  • With wipe data/factory reset highlighted, press the Power key.
  • Press the Volume Down key to scroll to Yes –delete all user data.
  • With Yes –delete all user data highlighted, press the Power key.
  • Once the wipe is complete, press the Power key to select reboot system now.

Once the factory reset is complete do not install any third party apps on your device yet. Observe its operation first and see if it works normally. You should be able to normally connect to a 4G network once you get disconnected by now. If you are still losing charge then try using a new battery on your device.

Galaxy Note 2 Another KitKat Upgrade Issues

Problem: Hello there, recently I received and accepted KitKat 4.4.2 upgrade to my smartphone approx. 1 week ago.  Ever since then I have noticed the below listed major issues. Phone reboots on its own every couple of hours or so. I am unable to write to my SD card (add-on SD card). Wireless gets enabled on its own. Once Wireless gets enabled, all the background apps notifying me that app has stopped and only way around this option is to reboot the smartphone on my own. What may be the best option to overcome this?  I have approx. 750 apps installed on my smartphone and I rather not factory reset the device without backup of entire (internal as well as external) device from which I can restore the device. Thanks for any advice you can provide.

Solution: Since you are experiencing multiple issue after the KitKat update your best option right now is to do a factory reset. You mentioned that you have 750 apps installed in your device. It’s quite possible that any of these apps are the cause of the issues you are facing right now. Remember, these apps are meant to work with the previous version of Android and with the new version installed in your device now there may be incompatibility issues.

The best way to backup your data is by using a laptop with the latest Kies software installed.

Perform a factory reset (steps are provided in the post above this). After the factory reset do not install any third party apps yet. Try to observe your device first and see if it works fine.

Galaxy Note 2 Won’t Open Google Play Store

Problem: Gentlemen, Thank you so much for your continued advice on all things pertaining to my Samsung Galaxy Note 2! Yesterday I installed the latest version of Kit Kat on my Note 2 which I have with Verizon as my carrier. Today I noticed that the Google Play Store would not open when I tried to look for a new app which had been recommended for me. My wifi connections are fine and all of my other apps (news, sports etc.,) load quickly and with no problems. Have there been any other issues with the Play Store app not opening since the latest upgrade? Thanks in advance for any assistance you might provide.

Solution: One quick way to fix this is to clear the cache and data of the Google Play Store app. Go to Setting > Apps > All Apps > Google Play then click on Clear cache and Clear data. If that does not work try removing your Google account then sign in again. Go to Settings > Google > Tap on your email address > Tap on the three dots at the top-right corner > Tap on “Remove account”.

Galaxy Note 2 Reboots When On Wi-Fi

Problem: My Samsung note 2 model GT-N7100 Android version 4.1.1, today after I force close my phone due to downloading apps lagging, after reopen my phone, it keep rebooting itself once I turn on wifi and connect to wifi. After i closed wifi and use phone dataplan, phone function normal. Any solution regarding that? Thanks in advance.

Solution: One possible cause of this is that a third party app may be interfering with the Wi-Fi connection. To check on this boot your device in Safe mode and observe it while trying to connect to your Wi-Fi network.

If your device has an SD card try removing it and observe its operation. There are instances when a faulty SD card can cause freezing or a reboot of a device.

Customers of AT&T who have experienced this kind of issue say that the AT&T VM Viewer is causing the problem. To fix this try to update the app or uninstall it.

Galaxy Note 2 Blank White Screen

Problem: Hi droid guy, I need your advice to fix my samsung note 2 with blank screen (white color). My mobile was fine until this morning. When i try to unlock my samsung note 2 with gesture swipe, it was freezing and I turned off the mobile and turn it on again. When I turned it on again, the screen with the title ” Samsung Note 2 – Nt7105″ was freezing. and I tried to turn it off and pull out the battery and leave it for couple minutes. when I put in the battery, my samsung note 2 screen went blank (white color) and freezing eventhough I charged it with the charger I tried to hard reset for my samsung note 2, but when i tried to push together the button home, volume and on/off to get the factory setting, it didn’t come up, only the blank white screen and freezing. Is it because of the battery problem? or the hardware inside samsung note 2? your help will much appreciated. Thank you.

Solution: Try using another battery on your device and see if it works. If you are not able to access the Recovery or Download mode then this could already by a hardware issue. In this case you must bring it to an authorized service center for checking.

Galaxy Note 2 Keeps Lighting Up

Problem: My Galaxy Note 2 keeps lighting up, I’ve went to settings to motion and to quickly glance no box’s are checked, motion is off, ever since.the kitkat update my phone has been doing this and my carrier at&t has no clue as to what’s causing it,could my phone have a virus?

Solution: I don’t think it’s a virus since they tend to work stealthily and not announce their presence. Have you tried running your device in safe mode? Certain third party apps installed in your device may be causing this problem and one way to check on this is to boot to Safe mode. You might also want to try to soft reset your device and see if that works

Galaxy Note 2 Apps Stop Working

Its does it so much I cant use it unless I continually keep clicking ok so the dialog box will disappear.  It states different apps such as “unfortunately lifelock has stopped, unfortunately firefox has stopped, unfortunately amazon has stopped just to name a few and this keeps up right after you click ok on one another one different app comes up. I dont know if its has anything to do with my bluetooth having to be repaired with all of my devices about once every two weeks. Anyway its appreciated any help rendered! Thanks

Solution: When most of your apps are having the same error messages then it’s time to do a factory reset on your device. Make sure to backup your data first before performing the procedure.

  • Turn off device
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key.
  • While holding down the Volume Up key, press and hold the Home key.
  • With both the Volume Up key and the Home key held down, press and hold the Power key.

After the factory reset get your apps from the Google Play Store.

Galaxy Note 2 Faulty Battery, No Network Coverage

Problem: Hi, My samsung note 2 recently facing no network coverage and sometimes reboot repeatedly.  I have try to clear cache partition, remove battery , safe mode and having a new simcard replacement except factory resetting …and it seem ok for a day. I have lodged a complaint to my telco (and they replied their networking is perfect). Fyi, the simcard is working fine when I put it into my blackberry legacy phone. This problem haunting me for few days until I accidentally found that it was my 18month old’s original battery.  Recently(around one month) I am practicing battery swiping old and new (original too) instead of charging it via usb cable. I am using Samsung original desktop battery to charge both of the batteries and I noticed the ‘faulty’ battery unable to be fully charged as the green LED indicator not shown after around two hours of charged as it should be (98%). I have tried to put the ‘faulty’ battery into my phone after three days. Then the above problem came back after few minutes. I am pretty sure it was my battery for now but not knowing why it happen for such a sudden. My enquiry is any connection between the sign of no network coverage and reboot repeatedly symptom related to a ‘quite good condition’ of original battery and could it be any other possible of sim slot problem or battery swipping will accerelate the damage of my battery? Please advise. Thanks

Solution: The condition of your battery affecting the network coverage could be a possibility. If the battery can only hold little charge and your device can detect this then it will try to save power and this might cause you to lose network coverage especially if you are in an area with weak reception. A faulty battery could also be one of the causes for your device randomly rebooting.

Here are some tips to make sure that you get the most out of your battery.

  • Dim the display
  • Turn off radios you are not using
  • Use Wi-Fi over Mobile Data
  • Lock your smartphone
  • Close apps when not in use
  • Make sure your smartphone is in a cool place
  • Update your software

#1. Phone shows 1 message unread

Problem: Hi, I am running this phone for almost 2 years and I was happy using it. There was some system update (almost 5 months back) after which, all my internal phone storage was wiped out. Till then again things went smooth until recently, I am seeing a bug probably. The messaging app is showing 1 message unread notification on the app icon. Even though no messages are unread. Not sure how to resolve this bug. Tried to download few apps from Google Play Store but are not able to over come this issue. If you can help regarding the same, it would be useful. Thanks. Regards, Sunny.

Solution: It’s probably just a glitch in the service called BadgeProvider. This problem was common in 2013 before and after the roll out of the Jelly Bean but could easily be fixed by clearing both cache and data of the service mentioned. Go to Settings > More tab > Application manager > All tab > BadgeProvider > Clear cache > Clear data > OK.

#2. Note 2 keeps hanging after 4.4.2 update

Problem: Hi Droid Guy, I own a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (India). Recently, I updated it to android 4.4.2 and shortly after that I started encountering few problems with it. The phone keeps on hanging in the lock screen alot with the power button not working to unlock the device. Sometimes leaving it for 5-10 minutes works and other times I had to restart the device. One other problem which I m facing is that the Samsung keyboard keeps on crashing. I have a lot of apps but they were even there before I updated and the device worked fine.

Hoping for some quick remedy. Thank you, Sawan.

Solution: If this issue is firmware-related, then I am sure there are other problems you may have not discovered yet. But the most common root cause is corrupt data. All you need to do is clear all those corrupt data that are still saved in the phone to force it to cache fresher and newer ones. First thing to do is wipe cache partition via the recovery mode, if that doesn’t fix the problem then perform master reset.

#3. Note 2 punches numbers during call

Problem: Hello, sorry to bother you, I’m having issues with my Galaxy Note 2 that has recently cropped up. It deals with an issue that happens while making a phone call. What has been happening is during a call, the screen is off but for some reason random numbers are getting punched in. My face won’t be near it and it’ll continue to happen. I’ve tried a headset to combat the issue but even with that, the dialer will sometimes put in numbers but nothing is touching the screen. I’ve cleaned the screen off, I’ve taken the otter box I had on it off and tried looking where I could for solutions. I’ve even done factory resets with no luck. Is my phone pretty much on the verge of having a melt down or is there a work around for this? If it matters, the phone is rooted. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give, C. Clifford.

Solution: Ma’am, I am almost certain this is a hardware issue. The worst thing that could happen is that you may be asked to purchase a new digitizer, it’s the glass on top of the screen that is responsible for making touch screen possible. However, it is possible that some components inside were damaged as well, so you really need to have the phone checked by an authorized technician.

#4. Bluetooth sync problem

Problem: Hi, Android guy, love your tips on Note 2 problems! I have a 2012 BMW 535 XI and I can’t get the Note 2 to Bluetooth sync with the car. My wife Galaxy S4 syncs beautifully, my Note 2…NOT SO MUCH! Help, wanting to be handsfree. — Mike

Solution: While many have been complaining not being able to stream on their cars via Bluetooth, Samsung didn’t issue a statement to acknowledge the problem, so it remains an issue. But based on testimonies of users who also encountered the problem when syncing their phones with their cars, using A2DP Connect 2 could solve the problem. As of now, there are solutions that exist to solve this problem, so try downloading that app from the Play Store and see if that fixes the problem.

#5. Note 2 screen freezes

Problem: Hi there, I love how you help us ‘androidies’. Well my wife’s Note 2 phone just started freezing the screen after booting up. It is the MEA version running on Android 4.3 . What do you think could be the problem and how do I fix it? Thanks in advance. — Robert

Solution: Well, I think one of the apps or services causes this problem. But seriously, I cannot provide more information because basically you told me nothing about the problem; you simply said the phone started ‘freezing.’ If the phone has liquid damage, then have it cleaned and dried immediate. If it was dropped, then have it checked by an authorized technician as components inside are vulnerable. However, if none of those happened, then try booting the phone to safe mode just to check if the it would still freeze while in that state. If so, then factory reset may be necessary. But if the phone works well in safe mode, then a third-party app is causing the problem, so find it and disable or uninstall it.

#6. Caller cannot hear

Problem: So I have been searching the feeds and haven’t found this problem. When I receive phone calls from other cell phones the caller can’t hear me and I have to call them back and everything is fine. I noticed it never happens when someone is calling from a landline phone. I have tried a lot of tips but none seems to work. When the caller calls I can hear them just fine but they cant hear me at all. I’m not sure if its just my phone or if its a lot of people having this issue.

Solution: There were considerably a lot of people having this problem and majority of them were caused by a defective microphone. There were, however, cases that the problem was with the firmware. So, if I asked you if this problem started to manifest recently, then it is more likely a software issue. You can try doing factory reset to see if it fixes the problem, if not, then bring the phone in for a checkup.

#7. Can’t use mobile data after the update

Problem: My Note 2 had updated to 4.4.2 jelly bean but after the update my mobile data can’t be used anymore. It can connect to WiFi only. Even though I restart my phone, it’s the same. Please help me.

Solution: Well, if this happened after the update then it could be just some corrupt data. You need to clear them by booting the Note 2 to recovery mode and wipe cache partition, and then reboot the phone normally. If that doesn’t help, then backup all your data and perform factory reset.

#8. Overlapping, doubled icons

Problem: Hello I am having an issue with my phone and I don’t know how to fix it. On the home screen the icons on the right top are doubled and overlapped. I’ve searched online and can’t find anything specific. This phone was a gift and I haven’t hooked it up to service yet. Please help. Thank you, Jeff.

Solution: Is it brand new? If so, there’s no point in troubleshooting it when you can have it replaced. If it’s not a brand new phone, I’m sure you haven’t saved data in it yet, so try doing factory reset to see if that helps. If not, then it’s a hardware problem.

#9. Google+ crashes

Problem: Hi, I have a problem with my Google+ keeps crashing. Can you help me with this? Thank you.

Solution: Well, the first thing to do is to clear cache and data of the Google+ app. If that doesn’t help, launch the Play Store and try to see if there are available updates for any Google service. If there is, install the update and reboot the phone to know if the problem would fixed. If it continues, however, try doing factory reset. Make sure you backup all your data first.

#10. Note 2 wouldn’t turn on

Problem: Hi, maybe you can help me. Last night I noticed my Note 2 screen wouldn’t come on. I charged it up overnight and still the same. Is there a particular boot mode I can use or something? Cheers, Michael.

Solution: Did you see the usual charging icon? If not, then try to use a different charger or plug the phone to a computer or laptop just to make sure it charges. However, if the phone shows a different icon, try to use a different battery. If the problem is neither caused by the charger nor the battery, then there is a possibility that the USB port has issues. But try booting the phone to recovery mode or safe mode if it can. If not, then bring the phone to a technician and have it checked.

#11. Camera icon from lock screen

Problem: I upgraded to 4.4.2 just 4 days ago on my Galaxy Note GT-N7100. One feature I looked forward to is the camera access from the lock screen. Sadly there is none. I went through all the configuration settings and cannot find any options to enable it. Is the upgrade faulty?

Solution: You can add just about anything on the lock screen of your Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Just go to Settings > My device > Lock screen. There must be an option there that allows you to add the camera on the lock screen, if not then add a shortcut and point it to the camera app.

#12. Refusing software upgrade

Problem: On my Galaxy Note 2 I am constantly getting a request to install a software update. It only gives me two choices install now or install later. I simply do not want this particular upgrade. Is there any way that I can get rid of the notification… Just refuse this particular upgrade? Thanks so much, Susan.

Solution: You will need to root your device so you would have full administrator permission. Once it has already been rooted, a friend of mine said renaming two files would eventually stop or kill OTA updates. Using a file manager app, rename files FWupgrade.apk to FWupdate.bak and SDM.apk to SDM.bak.

#13. Unable to move apps

Problem: Hi, my name is Will. I have the Galaxy Note 2. My problem is with storage. When I try to move an app(one I downloaded), to the sd card, I get the message “unable to move app”. Any suggestions?

Solution: I don’t know what the real problem here is since there isn’t much information but I assume you have sufficient space left and that the SD card is functioning well. I also don’t know how and when the problem started or if there are some significant activities that happened on the phone prior to this problem. But I would suggest you use moborobo application, which can be downloaded to your computer. It would help you move apps successfully via your computer. Here is the link to that tutorial.

#14. Proximity sensors not working

Problem: Hi, I purchased note 2 model N7100 some six months ago and now from few days the proximity sensors and palm wave sensors are not working. Please help.

Solution: By ‘not working’ I assume you already tried calibrating the sensor. If not yet, then try dialing *#0*# to launch the diagnostic tool. If the phone says something is ‘close’ to the sensor during the test, then that something could be just dust. Compressed air blown into the sensor’s hole in the front of the device would often solve the issue. There is no reason for the sensor to malfunction unless the phone was dropped, damaged by water, or settings were messed up. If compressed air couldn’t solve the problem, try backing up your data and performing factory reset. If all else fails, it’s time you brought the phone in for check up by a technician.

#15. Phone turns off randomly

Problems: Dear droid guy, I am having problems in my Note 2 after updating 4.4.2 kit kat:

  1. Images not saving in vaulty app.
  2. Mobile switches off suddenly.
  3. Videos also not saving in vaulty app.

Please fix these problem as soon as possible. Thanking you!

Solution: As early as now I want you to backup all your important data or those you don’t want to lose especially those that are saved in that Vaulty app of yours. Of course, it would appear that the 4.4.2 update is at fault here considering these problems started after your downloaded and installed the new firmware version. But I think the problem is more of a compatibility issue than anything else. But after backing up your data, try clearing the cache and data of the vaulty app. See if that solves the problem. If that fails, perform factory reset.

#16. Call waiting option

Problem: I need your help. When I m on a call & receive another call I can not put the current call on hold & answer the incoming call. Is it a certain setting that my phone has to be on. Hope you can solve this problem. Thanks!

Solution: Yes, there is a setting for that. Try this: touch Apps > Phone > Menu key > Call settings > Additional settings > Call waiting. And then make sure the checkbox next to call waiting option is ticked. Once you did this, you would be able to hear and answer new incoming calls even if you’re in a call.

#17. Widgets not refreshing

Problem: Hi, I’m using Galaxy note 2 N7100 I have a problem that sometimes all the widgets do not refresh, I tried to delete it and put it again but that didn’t work until I reboot the device. P.S: my device is rooted.

Solution: You know what, it could have been more helpful if you included the name of the widget that has problems. But I have reason to believe it’s just a matter of turning on background data of your phone. Try that first and if that doesn’t solve it, contact us again and make this post a reference so you don’t have to explain yourself again. This time, please, include the name of the widget you’re having problems with. Thanks.

#18. Update ATT Note 2

Question: I have AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 2 SGH-1317 would like to know how to update it to Kit Kat 4.4?

Answer: While I know Android 4.4 KK would soon be rolled out for the Note 2 devices across the globe, AT&T still hasn’t made it available for its customers. So, for now, try to wait for the roll out. But if you want, you can root your phone and flash custom KK ROMs available for free online. However, if you want to wait for the stock firmware, make sure your phone currently has these information as they are pre-requisites to the KK update:

  • Software (Android) version: 4.3
  • Baseband version: I317UCUBMK6
  • Kernel version: 3.0.31-2048209
  • Build number: JSS15J.I317UCUBMK6

#19. Note 2 stuck in sleep mode

Problem: Hi, I have a Note 2 , I turned my phone off or put it in “sleep mode” then I tried to turned on but it just stuck on the sleep mode, what should I do?

Solution: Reboot your phone. If it doesn’t respond to the power key press, remove the battery for a minute then attempt to turn it on. Also, you may want to turn off the power saving mode if it’s enabled.

#20. Can’t update Note 2

Problem: I’m having problems downloading and installing updates from Verizon. I’m using 4.1, I’m sure the update is 4.3. When the pop up comes, I try to use the update, it seems me to recovery mode, the tells me I’m unable to download (update failed). When I check my phone for updates it says it’s up to date. Any help would be great. Thank you.

Solution: Your email subject says your Note 2 is rooted. So, the first thing I would want you to do is to un-root your phone just to rule out the possibility that rooting caused this problem. Once you did that try downloading the update again and if it still fails, try using KIES to do so.
