S9 Turns Off Randomly

Problem: Hello, my galaxy s9 has started turning itself off randomly on full charge. Its less than one month old and this is extremely irritating as i often need my phone available for work. It powers back on just fine but when it locks or goes to sleep it will power down again.

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to remove the microSD card of the phone is you have one installed. This card can usually cause this kind of problem especially if it has corrupt or bad sectors.

If the phone does not have a microSD card but then the issue still persists then the next step is to check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem. To do this just start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone works in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This way you can check if the problem is caused by a software glitch. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone just yet. Try to observe first if the issue still occurs.

S9 Not Fast Charging

Problem: I cannot remember the last time my phone was fast charging when it was plugged in.  However, things were going alright. I was usually around 20% at the end of a work day.  Now, I was looking through your website this morning when it took it off the charger. Between 6 am and 7:10 am I went from 100% down to 25%.  Now, I’ve backed everything up and soft reset my device at work. It still doesn’t fast charge. It is losing charge while plugged in, it is also working to restore my phone, so I realize that could be part of the problem.  However, it has been running extremely hot when the battery gets low whether I am charging it or not. I’m a little worried about safety and also about being too far from a charger at this point, I have no clue what to do next.

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to make sure that the charging port of the phone is free from any dirt or debris. Clean this port using a can of compressed air. Once the port is clean make sure that the fast cable charging setting of the phone is activated.

  • From the Home screen, swipe up or down to access the Apps screen.
  • Touch Settings
  • Touch Device maintenance.
  • Touch Battery.
  • Touch the More options icon.
  • Touch Advanced settings.
  • To turn on Fast cable charging, touch the slider.

Make sure to use the adaptive fast charger to charge your phone. In case the issue persists then try using a different charging cord and adaptive fast charger. You can also use any charger that has an output of at least 2.0A.

If the problem persists then backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will need to have the phone checked at a service center.

S9 Will Not Boot Unless Connected To Charger

Problem: Samsung S9 will no boot up unless I put it on a charger or PC. Once on, no troubles battery 100%. Tried reset, Odin. Cache recovery, Battery disconnect, running out of options. Any Clues? I have changed battery.

Solution: Since you have already performed a factory reset then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already. Either the battery or power IC is not working properly anymore. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Problem: When charging my phone and it not turned off after while the screen will light up very dimly and the white screen with the tmobile symbol can be seen. From that point it is locked up and I can’t do anything. Only way to get it back is hold the power and volume down button until it reboots. If the phone is powered off I have no problem at all. I’ve tried several different chargers amd ever bought the Samsung wireless charger. Exact same thing happens no matter which charger is being used.
