S9+ Does Not Fast Charge

Problem: I am using s9 plus and got error moisture detected in USB port. I was nowhere near water and not sure why that notification popped up. I tried all troubleshooting steps mentioned on your website. Except factory reset as battery died by that time. Went to Samsung service centre and they did the factory reset by while charging wireless. After that the error did not came back but my phone stopped detecting fast charging. I again tried the troubleshooting steps mentioned on your site. Is there a possibility that the guys at service centre might have tried to physically open the port as they took the phone inside for 10 min and was out of my sight. I called them and they said they’ll have to probably repair the USB port. My phone is just 3 weeks old and I am worried if a phone is opened so early in its life time..it may affect its performance in long run. Please let me know what would be your recommendation.

Solution: It appears that the problem is already caused by a faulty charging port assembly which will need to be repaired at a service center. There are however some troubleshooting steps that you can do which we have listed below before bringing your phone for repair.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in the port.
  • Try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone.
  • To eliminate any software related glitches that could be causing the problem you should try to do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data  before doing the reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will most likely need to have the charging port assembly of the phone replaced at a service center.

S9+ Keeps Getting Moisture Has Been Detected Error

Problem: My S9+ keeps getting the water has been detected message. My phone was not exposed to water. The error appears after my charging cable gets disconnected from power. Like if I’m driving in my car with my phone plugged in then I turn the car off the water has been detected message comes up and doesn’t go away. Same thing if I’m at home and my wall charger is unplugged. I’ve tried shutting the phone down all the way but the message only goes away whenever it feels like going away. I even did a update today and the message still appeared after the update was finished.

Solution: The first thing you will need to do in this case is to eliminate the possibility that some moisture is present in the charging port of the phone. You can use a mini vacuum or a hair dryer to remove any presence of moisture in the phone charging port. Alternatively, you can leave the phone for 2 to 3 hours which is enough time for the moisture to naturally evaporate.

In case the issue persists then try to check if this is caused by a software glitch by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should have your phone checked at a service center.

S9+ Gets Hot When Connected To Charger

Problem: My son has a Samsung Galaxy S9+ (I’m unsure about the OS version) which he’s been having problems charging off and on for several months. It’s now reached the point where it doesn’t charge at all. I did a soft reset then   tried charging , it started off at 1 %. I thought, great it’s working. So I left it for a half hour or so and came back to check. It then read 0% and the phone was very hot. I immediately unplugged it. I figured the problem was likely with the USB charging port. I cleaned it making sure that no dirt is trapped inside. But the phone still doesn’t charge at all. I’m wondering if the phone might need a new battery?  Do you think I should have the battery replaced? Or is there another way to try and revive the phone or otherwise retrieve the contacts? I appreciate any advice or direction you can give. Thanks

Solution: If the charging port of the phone is already free from any dirt or debris then you should try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone to eliminate the possibility of the problem being caused by the charger. In case the issue still persists then you should bring this to a service center and have it checked as it is most likely already caused by a faulty hardware component.

S9+ Not Turning On After Drop

Problem: I dropped my phone at the airport yesterday and it just totally stopped working.  It will not come on, will not charge, basically it died. There are no cracks in the screen or anything like that.  It is in a leather case, but fell face down on the pavement. What could that be?? Please tell me my phone is not trash and can be fixed.

Solution: Did your phone have sufficient battery charge before you dropped it? If not then charge the phone first for at least 20 minutes then do a soft reset. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this.

In case the phone does not turn on then you should have this checked at a service center.

S9 Screen Is White

Problem: Hi, PLEASE can you help me!! For no apparent reason my S9 screen has gone all white and grey (like a hazy wavy lines) and won’t budge even if I try and do a reset or recharge the battery . All my holiday and precious recent photos are on it and haven’t backed up elsewhere . I’m desperate to retrieve my photos if nothing else. I can’t even access any apps or settings , the white/grey screen won’t budge . Really hope you have a solution as fear a technician will wipe all my photos off before fixing it. Thank you in advance. I can email a picture of the screen if helps

Solution: The best way to recover the data stored in the phone is to connect the device to a computer with Smart Switch running. If the phone can be detected then you will be able to retrieve your phone data. However, if Smart Switch is unable to connect to your phone then the only way you will be able to retrieve your phone data is if the display of the phone is fixed. There’s a possibility that the display is already faulty and needs to be replaced. The best thing you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S9 Only Turns On When Connected to Charger After Screen Replacement

Problem: Good day, My phone has been freezing and flickering, I booked it in and they told me that the screen needed to be replaced. After the screen was replaced I am still experiencing the same problem and now there is an additional one where the phone just completely shuts down and when switching it on it shows “Samsung logo”, when you try to download the new version, reboot or shutdown there is still now change. It only manages to stay on all the time when is on the charger. The phone shuts down whether the battery is at 100% or 50% and below. I have also noticed that my phone does no longer have the finger printing option after its screen was replaced. So I would like to know what is wrong with my phone.

Solution: Unfortunately this appears to be a hardware related problem already. The only troubleshooting step that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data. If the issue persists then you need to bring the phone back to the service center.

S9 Not Turning On After Drop

Problem: I put my tmobile galaxy S9 on a table to charge. It was working fine. A Lil later I found my phone on the floor and the screen was stuck on black but notification lights were on and I could hear my phone powering on and hear vibration. I Google how to fix my problem and I found a forum that said to push the volume down button, the power button  all at the same time until the little green reboot guy pops up. I never saw him pop up and now my phone wont even power on

Solution: It looks like the drop might have damaged the phone display. You can try to check if some other factor is causing the problem by doing the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Connect the phone to a wall charger then let it charge for at least 20 minutes. Restart the phone.
  • Try to check if the phone can start in recovery mode. If the display works in this mode then this might be caused by a software glitch. You will then need to do a factory reset in this mode. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S9 Not Waking From Sleep Mode

Problem: When my Galaxy S9 is on lower brightness settings, the screen has a green tint to it and the brightness pulsates. Also, sporadically when the screen is locked, I can’t turn it back on. It will just flash white and go back to black. The notification/charging light is on and it still makes sounds, but the screen won’t turn on.  I have to let it sit for about 20 minutes and then sometimes I can get the screen back on. After a software update, both problems stopped for about 2 weeks, but then came back with a vengeance. A factory reset did nothing. Is there anything I can do, or is my phone toast? Help!

Solution: If the issue still occurs after you performed a factory reset then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S9+ Turns Off Randomly

Problem: I got my Samsung galaxy S9+, 7 weeks ago, this is the 2nd time it turns off completely at 80% battery, I reboot it , it turns on then it turns off right away. I charge it 100% then it turns on and works fine. I deleted some apps, which I don’t have that many. I also make sure to put to sleep the apps, delete messages and calls. What could be wrong?

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to check if the problem is caused buy a software glitch by following the troubleshooting steps listed below. After performing a step immediately check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will need to proceed to the next step.

  • Remove the microSD card of the phone.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the issue occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely a hardware related problem already in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S9+ Freezes When Charging

Problem: When charging my phone and it not turned off after while the screen will light up very dimly and the white screen with the tmobile symbol can be seen. From that point it is locked up and I can’t do anything. Only way to get it back is hold the power and volume down button until it reboots. If the phone is powered off I have no problem at all. I’ve tried several different chargers amd ever bought the Samsung wireless charger. Exact same thing happens no matter which charger is being used. Battery life still seems to discharge at a normal rate. I also put it in safe mode to see if a app may be causing the problem and it still locked up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Solution: It’s likely that this is caused by a faulty hardware component. You can however troubleshoot this problem by checking if some software glitch is the culprit by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. If the issue persists then I suggest that you bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S9+ Not Turning On After Drop

Problem: So basically, yesterday afternoon i let my little sister use my S9 plus to watch videos, she got mad and threw my phone it worked fine, then she did the same thing again that same afternoon and i took it away and left it alone before i went to sleep i put it to charge and i woke up and took it i didnt use it at school because i have another phone but my friend wanted to use it i thought it was dead and it wasn’t turning on so i went to a class and plugged it, it turned on and i disconnected it and left. When i got home i plugged it in again and it turned on and showed the battery thing but it glitched and turned off. I held the power bottom and it showed the logo it went to my homescreen and it was 100 percent charged but when i disconnected it, it turned off. I did the same thing and my percentage went down to 60. at this point i don’t know if its the charger, phone or battery.  Please help

S9+ Moisture Detected In Charging Port

Problem: Phone will not charge “charge blocked moisture detected. There has been no water introduced, but it is humid in Bali. Have tried various fixes,: cleaned port with dental pick, cleared data in Android settings, dried with hair dryer, put in ziplock with dry pack. Changed charging chord. Please advise.

Solution: If you are in a humid environment then it’s very likely that this is what’s causing the problem. You need to make sure that the charging port of the phone is dry by using a mini vacuum or hair dryer to remove any presence of moisture in the port.

If the port is already dry and the issue still persists then the next step is to check if this is caused by a software glitch by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
