S9 Disconnects Calls Intermittently

Problem: I hope you are well & hope you can help.  I have a brand new Samsung S9 which I got on the Friday 9th March launch date. Since getting the phone I have experienced issues when on calls. The line drops in and out intermittently so I can’t hear the person & they can’t hear me. In addition the phone has taken to completely dropping and subsequently disconnecting the calls. This is naturally very frustrating for a brand new phone. Please please tell me it’s a software issue rather than a hardware one with the phone! I’ve tried clearly the cache as per your advice on this page this evening and i’m yet to see if this makes a difference. Any other ideas to fix it?

Solution: The first thing that you need to do is to check if the problem is caused by a network issue. Check if the phone is getting a good signal from the network. If the signal is spotty then this could be the reason why the call disconnects intermittently. You should also check if the problem occurs on a specific area as this could be a network related problem in which case you will need to contact your carrier.

In case you have checked that the network or signal is not causing the problem then you should proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Make sure that the phone is running on the latest software version.
  • Check if the problem occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. In case if it doesn’t then this could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
  • Try using a different SIM card in your phone.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S9 Only Makes One Call

Problem: My S9 will only make one call.  Works fine, but when I try to make another call, nothing happens regardless of how I try to make the call.  Selecting a contact and pressing the “call” icon, or inputting the number with the keypad; outbound call simply doesn’t happen.  “restart” usually allows me to make (one) call, but not always. Complete shutdown and restart has always worked to make a call – so far – but also only one call

Solution: It’s very likely that this problem is caused by some form of software glitch since you mentioned that the issue usually goes away when you restart the phone. To fix this problem you should follow the steps listed below.

  • Clear the cached data of all applications of the phone. This can be done by going to settings then storage then tap on cached data. Confirm your action to clear all cached data. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode. Check if the issue still occurs.

In case the above steps fails to work then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S9 Not Getting A Good Signal

Problem: I have been with straight talk for about 2 yrs I have been completely satisfied with my service with them . I recently decided to upgrade my phone . I had a Samsung Galaxy 3 with 3g I loved it had service everywhere it was great . I bought a new Samsung Galaxy S9 unlocked at&t phone  got the byop Sim card from Walmart activated it entered the APN the 800 service number tech guy gave me . I was able to call and send picture messages and use data . however I know I do not have 4g taking place and I never have. more than 2 bars of signal strength . My phone is constantly losing service and data I have to restart my phone like 15 times a day its getting terrible . what is the problem and how can I solve it please help

Related Problem: hello friend. My Sprint network galaxy s9 has an issue. I’ve looked over your recommendations and applied them to no avail. I rarely get a signal so can hardly make or receive phone calls or texts. my wife is on the same network, and seated in the same room, she gets a signal, and I do not. Often, the phone will show I’m getting a signal, and then when I try to call…..no network! seems as often as not that it happens when I’m in a 4g LTE area.

Solution: If you have already verified that the area that you are in has a good signal but then the phone is having a difficult time getting a signal then I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone. Try to check if the issue still occurs. In case it does then this is most likely a hardware related problem already in which case you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
