Samsung Galaxy S7 Keyboard Lag Issue & Other Related Problems

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S7 is a flagship phone released in 2016 that’s considered as a refinement over the S6. While both phones share a similar design structure the S7 has more features which is lacking on its predecessor such as the availability of a microSD card slot, waterproofing, and dustproofing. The other great features of this phone includes its 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display, octa core processor with 4GB of RAM, 12MP dual pixel camera, and  a 3000 mAh battery just to name a few. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. S7 Keyboard Lag

Problem: Couple of things. My stock keyboard will lag something crazy and eventually crash and reset typing in spurts. Only thing that I do that seems to fix it is resetting the whole phone. Second issue is the text message split. I’ve done the cache reset and I went into messages app and there is no option to auto combine like many of the sites say to do. I’d appreciate any help on these issues. Thank you!

Solution: If you are experiencing a lag when typing with the stock keyboard app then the first thing that you should do is to clear the cache and data of this app from the application manager. Since you are also having an issue with text messages being split you should also clear the cache and data of the messaging app.

In case any of the issues above still occurs then you should proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S7 Camera Fails to Work

Problem: Main Camera in Samsung Galaxy s7 fail. Tried all software updates, clearing cache, factory reset to no avail. Even took it in to check the hardware and same issue popped up with a replacement camera. Phone was refurbished so the camera never really worked.

Solution: It looks like the phone has a bad camera IC chip which is located on the logic board. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked. If the repair cost is going to cost a lot then you might want to consider getting a new phone.

S7 Screen Is Unresponsive To Touch

Problem: My screen is unresponsive to touch, however, it still displays any messages that is sent to it. I am unable to fully power off the system unless I wait for its battery to die completely (I can so soft resets with the volume and power bottoms). I have tried putting the device in safe mode as well but the screen remains unresponsive to touch. I have never dropped the device, or damaged it in any visible way, and I have kept it away from water/steam. I have only had this phone for 6 months, is it there anything I can do, or did the phone just get passed quality control, and is faulty? (I also bought this at Costco if that means anything). As for the android version, I am not quite sure, I just keep it up to date.

Related Problem: Hello. I have a Samsung S7. It is 11 months old. I haven’t dropped it or gotten it wet. I plugged it in to charge and half the screen turned grey.It is responsive, but nothing I have done makes it come back. I do not know how to open this phone to take the battery out either. Thank you for your help!

Solution: The best troubleshooting that you can do right now is to do a factory reset from the recovery mode. If you can backup your phone data before doing this step then I suggest that you do so since it will be deleted in the process.

If the issue persists after the reset then it’s very likely that the digitizer is damaged. Since this digitizer is fused to the screen then the whole display assembly will have to be replaced. If this is the case then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Stuck On Black Screen

Problem: hi my galaxy s7 is stuck on black screen still charges all notification lights are still on have tried all your resets but can not get rid of black screen

Related Problem: I have a samsung galaxy s7. the screen wont turn on apart from a flash of light down the left side. the lights are still on at the top and bottom of the phone but otherwise the main screen is black. Please help. i still can receive calls and texts as i can hear them as well as the volume buttons but cannot see or answer any.

Solution: Try starting the phone in recovery mode then check if the screen works in this mode. If it does then the problem might just be caused by a software glitch in which case I suggest that you do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data. If the screen still remains black even in recovery mode then this is most likely caused by a hardware component that is failing to work properly. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Not Charging From Charging Port

Problem: Fully functional Galaxy S7 GM930F won’t charge via charging port (charger or PC) but charges fine by Qi wireless. No apparent visible issues with charging port, cable connection is firm. Have done hard reset. Does this eliminate everything but the physical port itself, despite no visual defects?

Solution: To troubleshoot this problem you should try cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck  in this port. Try charging the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger. If the issue still occurs then the charging port of the phone might not be working. You need to have this checked at a service center.

S7 Activation Is Incomplete

Problem: Traveling overseas and Do not have the tools to remove the battery. Activation is incomplete. Not sure why, never had this happen before now. What is wrong with my setup wizard. I turned off the phone and removed the sim card. Then replaced it after discovering how complicated it is to disconnect and reconnect the battery . I turned on my phone and the activation incomplete popped up again. Please help.

Solution: The activation incomplete error will usually pop up when you have account related issue with the carrier. The issue could happen when you just ported your number to a different carrier or are currently activating a new account while the activation server is busy. The best way to fix this issue is to contact your carrier.

You can however troubleshoot this problem by restarting the phone then checking if the issue still occurs. If it does then backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If the issue persists then contact your carrier.

S7 Weather Has Stopped

Problem: I have a galaxy s7 and recently I have been getting a error that the weather has stopped, when this error shows up the entire phone slows down. I can’t send any text messages and the calendar stops responding ,I have disabled the weather app and done a force stop on the app. The problem keeps coming back even though the app is disabled , I have also disabled the weather forecast app but neither shows that they are disabled.

Solution: The best way to troubleshoot this problem is to clear the cache and data of the weather app from the application manager. In case the issue persists then perform the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
