S7 Edge Will Not Charge Or Turn On

Problem: Hello, I am having troubles with my S7 Edge. I was out and my phone died, so on my way home I plugged my phone into my car by using the same chord I use to plug into the wall. It only showed the battery with the lightning bolt and when this happened before I was told to perform a reboot by holding the volume and power buttons, it showed that it was working but then when it would normally show my lock screen, it just went back to the battery with the lightning bolt in it. So I just drove home and plugged it in at my house. When I unplugged it from my car the battery symbol went away and then the phone would not respond to anything when I plugged it in inside. Nothing I have looked up online has worked so I come to you.

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using its wall charger.
  • If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
  • Turn on the phone by pressing and holding both power and and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.

In case the issue persists then this might already be a hardware related problem in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge No Text Message Notification

Problem: The notification tone for text messages won’t make any noise with the sound on and volume up. No matter what I try the sound won’t go on when receiving the messages. It will ring when getting a call and all but no text message tone will go off. I have a galaxy s7 edge.

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to check if the text message notification setting of the phone is properly set.

  • From a Home screen tap on the Apps icon
  • Tap Messages
  • Tap the Menu icon which is the three dots on the upper right side
  • Tap Settings
  • Tap Notifications
  • Tap the Notifications switch (upper-right) make sure it is on
  • Tap Notification sound.
  • Select a sound.

If the notification setting is properly set and the issue still persists then perform the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Try to check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode. Restart the phone then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S7 Edge Black Screen Not Charging

Problem: Hello, My phone will not shows no sign of life after it died. I plugged it into my car charger on my way home and it seemed to be charging, but then when I took it inside of my house and plugged it into the wall, it won’t respond at all. It is just a black screen and I have tried the reboot. I still get nothing from it so I come to you.

Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to attempt a battery pull which is done by pressing and holding both the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If it doesn’t then perform the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a wall charger.
  • In case the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • Try turning on the phone.

In case the above steps fails to work then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related problem.

S7 Edge Some Apps Can’t Use microSD Card

Problem: Some apps can use my SD card, most can’t. I’ve tried doing both a soft reset and a factory reset, but no luck. Apps that can access my card are Gallery (read/write) and My Files (read only). Even choosing SD Card in the Camera app results “Unable to save File to SD Card.” Only thing I can think of is that I do have KNOX and Airwatch Agent installed, and my phone is partitioned to keep work apps & data separate. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Solution: The best way to tackle this problem is to first check if the microSD card that you are using is causing this problem. To do this just insert another microSD card in your phone. With this other card installed try checking if you are able to save photos to the microSD card. In case the issue still persists then this might be caused by a software glitch which can be addressed by performing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

S7 Edge Not Receiving Text Messages

Problem: Hi there, I have had my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge for about 10 months and just recently started having an issue receiving text messages. I receive some text messages from people but sometimes texts don’t come through from both iPhones and Androids. I’ve done a soft reset, factory reset, wipe cache partition, and even tried deregistering my # from Apple’s iMessage (it wasn’t registered in the first place). Not sure what else there is I can possibly do. Software is up-to-date. Any suggestions?

Solution: What you will want to do right now is to check if the problem is caused by the SIM or network. Remove the SIM from your phone then insert another SIM in it. Try checking if the issue still occurs. If it does then we have eliminated the SIM as a possible cause to the problem. You will then need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Not Getting Text Messages

Problem: My phone doesn’t receive about 1 out of every 10 texts. I still receive texts from everyone but there are a large amount that I’m not getting. I’ll be having a conversation with someone, then 4 hours later I’ll get a text asking if I got the one that they sent. It started about 2 weeks ago.

Solution: This issue will usually occur if you are in a weak coverage area. Try checking if the signal of the phone is strong. If you are getting a strong signal and the issue persists then perform the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

In case the issue still persists even after performing the steps listed above then you will have to contact your carrier regarding this matter.

S7 Edge Turns On And Off

Problem: I got my phone 4 my bday In July I had it 4 maybe a month b4 it started messing up it shuts on and off it’s entire screen looks pixelated it was completely black 4 over 52 hours I thought my screen went out and then it just came back on I have tried everything more than once it’s hard to hard reset phone when your screen is black I don’t want to just guess at what button I’m putting my phone in I just dropped it a week ago on accident and chipped the bottom right side of phone but this phone has been messed up I have always used samsung galaxy phoned but this phone is the biggest mistake I wish I never got this one great bday present broken from the start

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to remove the microSD card of the phone if you have one installed. Once this is done you will need to perform a factory reset from the recovery mode. This will allow you to eliminate any software glitches that could be causing this problem. Take note that this wil delete your phone data.

  • Turn off the phone.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up and Home buttons.
  • While continuing to hold volume up and home, press and hold the Power button until RECOVERY BOOTING appears in the upper-left then release all buttons.
  • From the Android Recovery screen, select Wipe data/factory reset.
  • Select Yes.
  • Select Reboot system now.

In case the problem still occurs after performing the steps listed above then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Screen Is Unresponsive After Playing Game

Problem: Hello yesterday when i was charging the phone i was playing a game. after several hours screen started to be unresponsive for first clicking. Then very thin black horizontal line appeared on the top of the screen. Now line is still there and home button sometimes does not work. How can i fix the problem

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to perform a simulated battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding both the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If the issue persists then follow the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. Does the issue occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then an app you downloaded could be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

In case the issue persists then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Message Sending Failed

Problem: My wife and I both have galaxy S7 edge phones – she recently changed her number, not her phone, just different number – now I can receive text from her, but anything I send via text – shows circle with ! In it. When I click on circle, just shows sending failed

S7 Edge Restarts On Its Own

Problem: Phone keeps restarting on its own. Sometimes when I access apps or it could just be sitting there. I have tried all that you guys suggested and nothing worked. I even took it to Samsung center in best buy and they couldn’t figure it out. They said it could be a software issue. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to fix?

Solution: If your phone has a microSD card installed then try removing it as this might be causing the problem. In case the issue persists or if your phone does not have any microSD card installed then I recommend that you perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then this could already be caused by an internal component that is failing to work properly. You will need to have this checked at a service center.

S7 Edge Not Receiving Text Messages

Problem: Hi i have a galaxy s7 edge for two months since the first week i have people asking me if just received a txt msg when i said no they will send it again and then i received it since then the same people text me but sometimes i will receive the msg and sometimes i won’t sometimes i been texting with someone good and another people calling me to ask me if i receive txm this is very stress full

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to make sure that your phone is getting a good signal from the network. If your phone is getting a weak to no signal then you won’t be able to get text messages or if you get them they will be arriving late.

Once you have made sure that the phone has a good signal and the issue still occurs then you need to perform the following steps listed below.

  • Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the issue occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

In case the issue still occurs even after performing the steps listed above then you should have your phone checked at a service center as this could be caused by a faulty phone antenna.

S7 Edge Not Sending Text Message

Problem: My samsung S7 edge is no longer sending text message. I think it has to do with a game mode, but I don’t know how to change it.  I have restarted the phone and removed the sims card and it still does not work.  I do not know how to clear cache.  I was trying a couple of days ago to get rid of some apps that I don’t want on there and I think I disabled something.  It just keeps saying sending.

Solution: Try to check if your phone is in Airplane mode and if it is you should turn off this mode.

Another factor that can cause this problem is a wrong message center number. Make sure that the message center number of your phone matches the one your carrier is using.

  • Tap Messages.
  • Tap MORE.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap More settings.
  • Tap Text messages.
  • Tap Message centre.

If the message center number of the phone is correct and the issue still persists then perform the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
