Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Screen Flickers After Phone Dropped Issue & Other Related Problems

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S7Edge is one of the most popular Android smartphone models released in the market last year. The reason behind this is aside from its powerful hardware configuration is that it has a solid design. The phone uses a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED display that curves around the edges. It also retains some of the features found on the regular S7 model such as waterproofing, dustproofing, and the availability of a microSD card slot. Although a lot of people are using this phone as their daily driver without experiencing any issues there are instances when certain problems can occur which we will be addressing today. S7 Edge Screen Flickers After Phone Dropped

Problem: Hi, I recently dropped my phone which cracked the glass. For the first hour of using my phone, it was working fine before it started to flicker. I would put it on the brightest setting but after awhile, it would start flickering again. I also noticed that the upper right corner looked like it has some dead pixels, most likely from the drop. Sometimes the screen just emits bright white and leaving it alone for a couple hours would somehow make it better for a couple minutes. I tried to restart and reset the phone but it doesn’t help. Do you think it’s still possible to fix the phone? perhaps, by replacing the glass and lcd? Thank you! hope to hear from you soon!

Solution:  The best way to fix this problem is to replace the display assembly of the phone. You can have this done at a service center.

S7 Edge Completely Froze

Problem: Hi, I was using my samsung s7 edge, when it completely froze, At first it wouldn’t even turn off, it just stayed on the screen. After about 20 seconds it finally turned off and went on to a black screen however now, I can’t get it to turn back on.  I’ve tried putting it on charge, rebooting it, turning it on into safe mode, and recovery mode, I’ve tried using all the advice I’ve found online, but unfortunately I’m still just stuck with a blank black screen, my phone is new, I bought it 10 days ago, so I don’t think it’s an hardware problem! Because I didn’t put it at risk, it’s pretty new, and that’s weird because it’s dead now ! And yes does that mean my phone is fake because it’s says it was made in Vietnam? :/ I hope you can tell me what may have caused this issue.

Solution: Samsung has manufacturing plants in Vietnam which makes the S7 Edge so it’s likely that your phone is not fake. To fix the problem you should follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • If your phone has a microSD card installed then try removing it.
  • Perform a simulated factory reset by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this.
  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port gets removed.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a charging cord and wall charger that’s tested to work on another device.
  • Turn on the phone.

If the above steps doesn’t fix the problem then this could already be a hardware related problem in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Gets Hot When Charging Drains Quickly

Problem: My phone gets really hot when charging it and when using it, also takes a long time to charge, it also drains quickly and is really slow.

Solution: It looks like the battery of the phone might already be faulty. To check if this is the case you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If after the reset the issue still persists then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked. It’s very likely that the phone battery will have to be replaced.

S7 Edge Randomly Freezes And Restarts

Problem: My s7 edge randomly freezes and restarts and when this happens the phone heats up. It keeps on restarting till I stop using it and putting it on charge. I have factory resetted the phone and that has made no difference. Its causing problems for me. I’m using the latest nougat software. Is there any solution to the problem? Thanks

Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it has one then try removing it then check if the issue still occurs.

If the problem persists and since you have already performed a factory reset which doesn’t fix the problem then this could already be caused by an internal component that is failing to work. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Touchscreen Not Working

Problem: Hi my phone samsung galaxy s7 edge screen does not work.. i mean touch screen from mid of both edges not work.. i did everything like hard reset, put in safe mode etc but all in vain.. the good thing is that when i put it on charging and rapidly rub my finger to whole screen for 1 minute then it became works.. i think that the current does not pass through whole screen so that’s why some parts of touch screen is not working.. need your help plzz

Solution: It looks like the digitizer of the phone is faulty. Since this digitizer is fused to the display you will need to have the whole display assembly replaced. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Stuck In Installing System Update Loop

Problem: Hey guys. I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. At the moment is stuck in a “installing system update” loop. It updates up to 31% then it restarts on its own, starting updating again from 0% to 31%…it only does that. I have attempted to reset: volume key up/home button/power button…and so on but it doesn’t do anything other than restarting and going back to 0% to 31%

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode then perform the following.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone.
  • Do a factory reset.

Take note that the above steps will delete your phone data.

S7 Edge Screen Is Flickering Green After Phone Got Dropped

Problem: A week ago there was a slight crack in the right side of the edge screen about midway, but a bit lower. However the phone was fine and still usable with no issues. A week later…My phone was charging in my truck, my daughter went to get out of my truck and got the cord caught on her flip flop. the phone went from the dash flying to the truck floor. It instantly did not work, the bottom half was flickering green and I could not see the normal screen with all my apps. However I can see the top half. I called Tmobile to pay the insurance and to my awful surprise they never added the insurance. So now I’m stuck with trying to fix it myself.  I need help on how to do this myself or what is even wrong with it.

Solution: Because the display of your phone had an existing crack the drop might have further damaged the display. You will need to have the display assembly of the phone replaced at a service center.

S7 Edge Keeps On Freezing

Problem: Hi,  I was using an app and suddenly it froze. After a restart it was normal for 2 hrs and the freezing issue started getting frequent from then. I booted into safe mode and checked by running play store and it froze again. After a factory reset also the problem persists. So I took it to samsung service center. They too tried resetting my phone and still the phone freezes. I wanted to know is this a motherboard issue?

Solution: This appears to be a hardware related problem already however each component of the phone should be checked in order to figure out what exactly is causing the problem. Replacing the motherboard could fix this problem however some components such as the power IC or the battery could also cause this problem so it’s best to start with those first.

S7 Edge Keeps On Restarting

Problem: Hello, please why is my Samsung galaxy s7 edge restarting every 5 mins, I got the fine some days back and just updated the OS. Every since it has been restarting at intervals. This is very annoying. I haven’t even been able to restore my data and apps. Please help

Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try taking out the card then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will have to perform a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Keeps On Restarting Issue & Other Related Problems

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S7Edge is a flagship phone released last year that is an enhanced version of the S7. The first thing that you will notice on this model is that it has a larger screen than the regular version and this screen curves around both edges. The phone also has a larger 3600mAh battery that allows the device to operate for a longer amount of time. Aside from this, the phone shares similar specs to the S7 model. Although this is a solid phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S7 Edge keeps on restarting issue & other related problems.

S7 Edge Keeps On Restarting

Problem: Phone turned off whilst using it. It started restarting itself but only got as far as when samsung comes across screen then turned off and did this again for a good 15 minutes. Blue light stayed on all night but went out eventually. Can’t turn phone on nor is it registering when the charger is plugged in. Had 77% battery when first turned off. Have tried holding volume buttons along with home key etc as suggested in one of the links and hasn’t changed anything. Still not working.

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to make sure that the battery of the phone has sufficient charge by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using its wall charger.
  • If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
  • If the phone has a microSD card installed then you should remove it.
  • Turn on the phone by simultaneously pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.

If the issue persists try starting it in recovery mode. From here you will need to do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Moisture In Charging Port Detected Error

Problem: I dropped my phone in water for about 3 seconds before taking it out it was about 10cm deep if not less. I dried it immediately and it was working fine as it still had charge. I went to changed it and it keeps saying that there is moisture in the charging port. I have even put it in rice over night but it’s still telling me that.

Solution: This particular error message usually occur when the charging port of the phone gets wet and liquid is still present in it. What you will want to do right now is to make sure that the charging port is dry by using a vacuum cleaner or a hair dryer. Once the port has been dried try charging the phone. You should also try using a different charging cord and wall charger.

If the issue persists then try checking if this is caused by a software glitch by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Restart the phone then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the issue persists even after performing the steps listed above then you will need to have this checked at a service center.

S7 Edge Battery Drains Fast With Third Party Launcher

Problem: i got an s7 edge, since i change to a different launcher my battery drain fast, i’m using a Go Launcher Z on my phone but i tried clearing all caches, stop all the apps running but still battery draining so quick, do you think i have to switch to a samsung default launcher? i’m not a techy guy but can you advise me whats the best thing to do

Solution: To check if it is really the third party launcher that you are using is causing the problem then you will need to uninstall this launcher and instead use the stock launcher of the phone. Check if the battery still drains quickly. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by the third party launcher that you are using. It might not be optimized well to work on the current software version of your phone.

In case the battery drain issue still occurs even with the third party launcher uninstalled then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the issue persists even after performing the steps listed above then I recommend that you have the phone checked at a service center.

S7 Edge Black Screen After Drop

Problem: I recently drop my phone and it fell on a corner (I think). Once I picked it up, there was no cracks on the screen (relief) but once I turn it on there was a black screen with a little small holes lighting coming through from the corner it got hit. I did the soft reset and during the loading screen everything was still black except the light on the corner. The phone still make noise and vibrates. When it loaded up a small strip from one side to the other of the phone was visible. I can see the actual phone screen, (Phone company, notifications, time, etc). The phone still reacts to my interactions like if I swipe down on the top of the screen it will drop down the notification tab.I’m not sure of the phone’s Android version. If you tilt the phone you can see cracks not on the screen but under the glass screen.

Solution: While this is most likely a hardware related problem already caused by a faulty display you can still check if the problem is caused by a software problem by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset. Do not install any apps in your phone after the reset. If the problem still persist after the reset then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked. It’s very likely that you will need to have the display assembly of your phone replaced.

S7 Edge Forgotten Password After Software Update

Problem: My phone did a system update  and I have used my fingerprint scanner forever, well now it says I have to use the password I set up on it first to unlock it and then I can use my fingerprint from then on, WELL I have no idea what my password is and now I can’t even shut my phone off without the password to do a factory reset. It also doesn’t give me an option to do anything for a forgotten password, it just tells me to try again in 30 seconds,  PLEASE HELP ME!!!! I have been doing everything for 3 days now and no luck!!!

Solution: Have you setup a Google account on your phone? If you have then the password for the account is what you will be using the access the phone. You can also gain access to the phone by following the steps listed below.

  • Log on to Google’s Android Device Manager service through your computer.
  • Once successful, you can immediately see a list of Android devices so select the one you want to unlock.
  • Inside ADM’s interface, select “Lock.”
  • In the next screen, enter a temporary password and click Lock again.
  • If successful, you should see buttons Ring, Lock and Erase.
  • On your phone, you will be prompted to enter the temporary password you just created. If entered correctly, you can unlock your device.

You can also gain access to your phone by using the Find My Mobile service of Samsung.

  • Log on to Samsung’s Find My Mobile service.
  • Enter your credentials if you already have or create a new Samsung account and register your phone if possible.
  • The most crucial step in this method is verification and once you can get past that, unlocking your device is easy.
  • Assuming you’ve successfully logged into your Samsung account, find the ‘Unlock my screen’ on left sidebar.
  • Click “Unlock” to get past the lock screen.
  • You’ll then receive a prompt telling you your phone’s screen is already unlocked.
  • Now set your new password.

S7 Edge Recovering Voice Recordings When Screen Not Working

Problem: Hi, Mine is just a question. I recorded some very important information on my S7 edge in the Samsung Voice Recorder.  My phone has since been broken and I cannot see the screen.  I need a whole new screen which I cannot afford.  If I put my sim in another phone an older samsung – will my voice recordings be there? Or can I get them off by connecting to a computer?  I can’t see anything on the screen though. Thanks

Solution: Normally, you won’t be able to access the data stored in the phone unless the phone is unlocked which is impossible to do when the screen is damaged. You can however try to connect the phone to a computer with Smart Switch installed then try to retrieve the voice recordings. If this fails to work then you really must have the display of the phone fixed first before you can retrieve the voice recordings.

S7 Edge Error Code 34 Network Not Responding

Problem: When I try to send a text out, I get error code 34 saying the network isn’t responding please try again later. I get texts incoming, but I can’t respond. I can make phone calls, but I can’t receive them! I spent the better part of two hours on the phone with sprints tech support and they’re just as confused as I am what the problem is. I have done a system reboot, cleared my system cache, can’t take the battery out unfortunately bc it doesn’t come out. I’m using a Samsung galaxy S7 edge. It’s firmware is up to date. The prl was refreshed and so was the sim card. I hare to do a hard reset if there’s something simple I’ve missed. Can you help me please? I’m on day 2 with this problem unresolved.

Solution: Usually when this error message appears on your phone you would just need to update the profile of the device. Since you have already done this then the next step is to check if this problem occurs on a particular area. Try going to a different location then check if the problem occurs. If it doesn’t then the issue might be caused by the towers in your area. However, if the issue persists then you should consider doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

S7 Edge Not Detected By Computer

Problem: hi please help my galaxy s7 edge is stuck on a bootloop with the message custom binary blocked by frp lock, this happened the other day when i plugged my phone into the pc to take my photos etc off as i wanted to put it back to factory but when i plugged it in via usb the device wasn’t recognised no windows ping and not in device manager i tried all different settings on the phone but no joy so i turned it off and it now wont boot up , i have tried lies, odin, and smart switch but none of them detect my phone i have also reinstalled drivers, tried different usb leads all genuine samsung data usbs and tried my laptop, the phone will go into download mode but isn’t detected by pc or any programmes please help as i’m worried that samsung won’t fix it as it’s been rooted thanks

Solution: What you will need to do in this case is to first clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris that’s stuck in this port. Next, try using a different USB cord when connecting the phone to your computer. You should also try plugging the phone to different USB ports of your computer. Another step that you can do is to try connecting your phone to a different computer.

In case the issue persists then it’s very likely that the data pin of the charging port of the phone is faulty in which case you will need to have this checked at a service center.

S7 Edge Screen Flickers Green

Problem: Hey there! So my Samsung 7 Edge just flickered green and suddenly appeared very bright (despite my own brightness settings on the lower end of the spectrum). All the colours seemed to have paled with black now appearing as green – it’s still working, just seems like on the edge of death. I’ve had the AMOLED screen burnout for a while now and was finally used to the strange pink flecks on the screen when this happened out of the blue . Tried every reboot possible, cleared my cache, and am pretty unsure of what to do next beside visiting the Samsung store itself. Help please!

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete check if the screen problem still occurs. If it does then it’s likely that the display is already damaged in which case you will need to have this replaced at a service center.

S7 Edge Screen Is White

Problem: The issue with my phone is three quarters of the screen is now white. This happened initially 3 weeks ago. I wiped the cache and rebooted the phone and it fixed the problem. It happened again, I tried to wipe the cache and also factory reset the device and it has not fixed the problem. when the phone is plugged in to charge and turned off, with the battery image and percent showing the screen issue is not there until I press the power button the screen plays up until I press the power button again and the screen goes back to normal showing the battery and percent. that makes me think that it is a software issue more than a hardware issue. problem is that both front and rear glass is relatively smashed so I imagine a repair guy won’t really do much with it until I have a new screen for it. unsure if this is the case though.

Solution: Since the issue still occurs even after a factory reset then this is most likely a hardware related problem already possibly caused by a faulty display. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Keeps On Restarting

Problem: Hi! Recently I have noticed that my s7 edge keeps restarting, probably 3 – 4 times a day. I haven’t dropped it recently or broken it, and the handset is only 4 months old.  The restart usually happens after I’ve been trying to go from one app to another, the screen will freeze, and then it will restart. Apart from this the phone works absolutely fine with no other issues. The phone will restart itself and turn back on as normal until the next time. Please help!

Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try removing this card as it could be causing the problem.

Another factor that can cause this problem is an app you downloaded. To check if this is the case just start the phone in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case the issue persists then you should perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related problem.

S7 Edge Not Turning On After Charging

Problem: i went to sleep at night and plugged my phone into charge, when i woke up the phone was showing a flashing charge symbol that was gray. i tried turning it on but it only went to the samsung logo and back to this state. of you take the phone out of charge then nothing happens and none of the buttons respond and only when it is in charging it shows the empty gray charging logo that keeps flashing. also not sure of my android version.

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port. Once this is done charge your phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger. Turn on your phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.

If the issue persists then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Grey Lines On Screen

Problem: Hi I bought my samsung galaxy s7 edge 10 month ego. Today while i was talking to my friend on whatsapp i saw some gray lines on the screen. I restart it but it’s the same. How can i resolve this problem or can i get a replacement of this phone? thanks in advance

Solution: Try starting the phone in Safe Mode then check if the grey lines still appear. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. In case the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then proceed with a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this might already be caused by a faulty display. If this is the case then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Restarts When Using Rear Camera Issue & Other Related Problems

One of the two flagship models that #Samsung released last year is the #Galaxy #S7Edge. What sets this apart from the regular S7 model is that this phone has a larger 5.5 inch Super AMOLED display. Not only is the screen large but it also curves around the edges. Because this phone has a large screen the company is also able to fit in a larger 3600mAh battery which gives the phone an impressive battery life. Although this is a reliable device there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S7 Edge restarts when using rear camera issue & other related problems.

S7 Edge Restarts When Using Rear Camera

Problem: I have a Samsung galaxy s7 edge. Around 4 months ago I started experiencing issues with the main camera, whenever I tried to take a picture an error came up with the following: warning: unknown error occurred. Next thing was the phone making a restart. This error didn’t happen all the time but it was common to have it 1 out of 5 pictures, I notice this started when I upgraded to Nougat. A couple of months ago I bought a new phone and didn’t use the s7 edge. Last week I turn it on and it made a lot of updates but unfortunately every time I take a picture with the camera it restarts the phone with the error mentioned above. No problems to record videos and no problem with front camera. I already receive assistance from Samsung and installed the OS again. Haven’t tried to install previous OS because it shouldn’t be that way. Will really appreciate some help here since I really like my s7.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to try to flash the previous software version. This way you will be able to check if it is the update that is causing this problem. You can download the previous firmware version from the Sammobile website. You can also get the instructions on how to flash your phone from this website.

In case the issue still occurs even if your phone is running on a previous software version then this is is most likely caused by a faulty camera module. You will need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Has White And Purple Horizontal Lines

Problem: Hi there I have an issue with my Samsung S7 edge. There is a white and purple horizontal lines in middle of my screen and underneath the line the screen starts flickering. I’m really upset with this. I’ve seen your forum and thought you could help me out. Please suggest me what to do I’v been using since April 2016…never dropped it down or floor, water either

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to check if an app you installed is causing the problem. To do this you just need to start the phone in Safe Mode. Check if you still see the horizontal lines when the screen is running in this mode. If the issue does not occur then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then you should perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

If the issue still occurs after the reset then this could already be caused by a damaged display assembly. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

S7 Edge Is Warm Not Turning On

Problem: My device died last night after about 10 minutes I plugged it in to charge when it was completed I unplugged the device. When i woke up this morning I turned on the device it started booting up 5 minutes later when i took up the device it was warm and screen was black. I had a similar incident a month or two ago and I used the volume down and power key to reboot. Back then the screen was frozen during load up mode. When I try the volume down and power key to reboot nothing happens. My phone still feels warm and won’t turn on. What do I do?

Solution: Since you already tried performing a simulated battery pull the next thing that you should do is to check why the phone is warm. Using another phone try calling your phone. This is just to verify if the screen is just black but the phone is running. In case you can’t contact your phone then it is verified to be turned off.

Try to leave your phone for an hour then check if it is still warm. If it isn’t warm then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
  • Charge your phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger. Try turning on your phone.
  • Try charging your phone from a computer USB port. If your phone charges this way then one of the pins of the charging port might be damaged. You will need to have this checked at a service center.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Crashed After System Update

Problem: Shortly after an update my S7 edge crashed. It then went into a constant boot loop. I can’t get it to start in safe mode, it just continues with the boot loop. Trying to delete cache it gets as far as the android logo with the arrows rotating (and a message saying “installing system update” after a few seconds the arrows stop rotating.

Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try removing it as this might be causing the problem.

In case the problem persists then you will have to perform a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

One last option you should consider if the above steps fails to work is to flash your phone with its updated firmware file. You can get the firmware file from the Sammobile website. This is also where you can get the instructions on how to flash your phone.

S7 Edge Facebook Always Appears Online

Problem: Please can u help me with fb – I constantly appear on line when I’ve turned chat off – I’ve uninstalled & ‘reinstalled the app, logged out & back in to fb, deleted my mobile number off fb, logged out of any other devices, trawled the net for answers & I’m up against a brick wall now – what can I Do? Thanks for any help it’s peeing me right off & privacy is compromised

Solution: The best way to fix this problem is to change your facebook password. You will then get an option for you to logout of all devices. Make sure to accept this. Once this is done you can be assured that the only device that is logged on to your Facebook account is your phone.

S7 Edge Keeps On Restarting

Problem: During software update there was an error message saying dsk file is not installed and press any buttons. After I pressed the home button, the phone keeps restarting and shows error and restarts again and then again error.

Solution: If your phone has a microSD card installed then try removing this as this might be causing the problem. If the issue persists then you should consider doing a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this procedure will erase your phone data.

S7 Edge Videos Missing From microSD Card

Problem: we used the samsung 256 micro sd card in our go pro and recorded video.then my husband put the sd card in his phone to try and see the videos. we were not able to view the videos on his phone and now it appears the videos are missing from the sd card as my computer can’t recognize them now either!! my husband says he did not press anything that said reformat the card or anything. he just  put it in and went to the place to view pictures but couldn’t

Solution: Try inserting the microSD card to the GoPro then check if the videos can be viewed. If the videos are missing then they might have been erased when the card was inserted in the phone.

S7 Edge Not Getting OTA Updates

Problem: I have an issue with Samsung s7 edge. I am not getting OTA/FOTA updates in phone. But, if I connect my phone with Smart Switch in PC, it shows and update. i have visited Service Center and they have re flashed the firmware. But, still, I am not getting OTA update for my phone. I want to know how this problem can be solved?

Solution: Since you have already reflashed the phone firmware which doesn’t appear to fix the problem then one other factor that could cause this is your data connection. Try checking for the update when the phone is connected to a different Wi-Fi network.

Your phone should also meet the conditions listed below to be able to get the update

  • Your phone must be running on its original network if it is an unlocked device.
  • Your phone must not be rooted.
  • Your phone must not be running on a custom firmware.

S7 Edge Crashes With LInes On Screen Showing

Problem: I bought some Skull Candy earbuds with microphone, and since then the phone crashed a couple of times, with a weird electronic noise, and magnetic type of lines on the screen. Now the phone doesn’t respond anymore . I let it run out of battery to start again. But when i started it again, after 1min the phone crashed again, still with this weird lines of colours on the screen.

Solution: It’s possible that the earbuds might have caused some component to short circuit thus causing this issue. To troubleshoot this issue what you can do is to check if the phone software is involved by following the steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • If the issue occurs even in Safe Mode then try doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Nce the reset is complete immediately check if the issue still occurs.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Freezing And Restarting Constantly

Problem: Samsung Galaxy S7 edge is freezing and it restarts frequently in a day.I have done master reset, cleared cache and tried few other things as mentioned on you site but nothing helped. Please resolve as it is too annoying

Solution: Does you phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try removing it as this can cause freezing issues on the phone especially if the card has corrupt sectors.

If your phone doesn’t have a microSD card or if the issue still occurs even after removing the card then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Freezes With Distorted Display

Problem: The phone suddenly freezes and part of the display horizontally from edge to edge is distorted and after a few seconds the phone restarts. This could happen as much as three or four times in a row, and sometimes less like every hour or so. Did a factory reset from settings, but the problem persisted. Same issue whether the phone is on charge or battery. Phone is now a month old. I have a video of the problem which I would gladly upload if you have the option to upload it.

Solution: This is a similar issue to the one that we have addressed above. Do you have a microSD card installed in your phone? Try removing it if you have one as this could cause this kind of issue. If you don’t have a card installed or if the issue still occurs after removing the card then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Solution: If your phone has a microSD card installed then try removing it as a card with corrupted sectors can cause a phone to freeze and restart. If your phone doesn’t have a microSD card installed or if the issue occurs even after removing the card then I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Keeps Overheating

Problem: MY samsung galaxy S7 edge keeps overheating…it gets so hot i can barely touch it and then I have to shut it off…The battery also is drained immediately…..and the battery also starts draining the minute I turn it on…I don’t even use it and it goes down to 75 percent…this phone is brand new since 2017…my phone before it did the same thing….what’s the story here…is it junk

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to remove the microSD card of the phone if you have one installed. Once this is done proceed with checking if an app you installed in the phone is causing the problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded in which case you will need to find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the problem still occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try checking first if the phone still overheats. If it does then this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component, possibly a short circuit that in the battery. I recommend that you bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Keeps On Restarting

Problem: Hi, i am having issue with my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge,my phone keeps restarting on its own 2 to 3 times in every 10 minutes, i cleared all the catch data and also reset, but i am unable to get any solution, and my phone came from Saudi Arabia ,please suggest me what to do.I am worried about it.Thanks

Solution: Do you have a microSD card installed in your phone? If you do have one then I suggest that you remove this as this might be causing the problem.

You should also check if an app you installed is causing the problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. If the phone does not restart in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

One last troubleshooting step to consider if the above steps fails to fix the problem is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

If the issue still persist then this is most likely caused by a hardware component that is failing to work properly. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Screen Not Turning On After Drop

Problem: So me and my friend were skateboarding, and we went down a hill. He dropped my phone on the road, however the skateboard did not go over it, the screen hasn’t cracked, and the phone actually landed on It’s back. I helped him up and grabbed our stuff, but the screen looked like It was split in half for a quick second. I turned the screen off and went inside, to find out that the screen won’t turn on. The sound works, It vibrates when needed. I looked up answers on youtube and google, I took out the battery, I tried holding the Home / Power Button / and Volume button at the same time, but it didn’t work. So is it possible if you can help me out or will my parents have to buy me a new one?

Solution: It looks like the display might have been damaged by the drop. You can try starting the phone in recovery mode and if you the display works in this mode then I suggest that you do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data. If the display does not work in recovery mode then you should consider having the display assembly replaced at a service center.

I’ve removed my sd card, cleared non essential apps, freed up my internal disc space, cleared cache, done soft reboot and run malware and anti virus scanners but to no avail. Please help.

Solution: Since you have already performed most if the initial troubleshooting steps for this particular problem which does not work then I recommend that you do  factory reset.
