S6 Freezes After Turning On

Problem: My Galaxy S6 was in a reboot loop a few days after installing a system update. I had fixed this by performing a factory reset but it’s only been a week and it has started again, only this time the phone doesn’t turn off, it just freezes around 2 minutes after I turn it back on. When the phone turns on again, it is slow and the touch screen is faulty (it takes really firm touches to access apps or swipe something on the phone, though this was a problem for months) and I don’t really know what to do. The model number is SM-G920F, if you could be of any help, that would be appreciated.

Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then there’s a possibility that this card could be causing the problem especially if it has bad sectors. Try removing this card then check if the issue still occurs.

If your phone does not have a microSD card installed or if the issue still occurs after removing the card then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Connect your phone to its charger then check if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by a faulty battery. Try replacing this battery.
  • Check if the issue occurs when your phone is started in Safe Mode.If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app that you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Perform a factory reset again. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if you still experience the same issue.

If the above steps fails to work then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related problem.

S6 Crashed Then Turned Off

Problem: hi my samsung s6 just died, i thought it just charging but plugged it into several charger points still nothing. i’ve pressed numerous buttons to reset it ..nothing’s working. i was in messenger and it just crashed turned off. i had it in a lifeproof case was not anywhere near water so????? any ideas

Solution: Since your phone is unresponsive what you will want to do first is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge to turn on the device. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this problem.

  • Perform a simulated battery pull by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this.
  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air making sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in the port.
  • Charge your phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger that have been tested to work on another device.
  • Try charging your phone from a computer USB port if it doesn’t charge using the wall charger.
  • If the phone charges then try to turn it on.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely a hardware related problem already in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Refuses To Turn On After Dropping To Floor

Problem: So I dropped my phone a while back and after it fell it refused to turn on. When I connect it to a charger, one of the small lights turns red. and sometimes when its not charging and i press some power buttons, the light turns blue. I’ve tried pressing the volume down button with the power button and homescreen and nothing happened. I also tried it with the volume up button and nothing happens. The only reaction my phone gives to those actions is the light on the little blinkers. I was wondering if the screen is possibly broken on the inside although there are no visible cracks on the outside? Help

Solution:  It looks like the drop might have damaged some component inside the phone which is now causing this problem. I would recommend that you perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this problem.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone first using a can of compressed air.
  • Charge your phone for at least 20 minutes using a charger that is known to work.
  • Try to start your phone in recovery mode. If your phone works in this mode then the problem might be caused by a software glitch in which case you will need to perform a factory reset in this mode. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Does Not Charge

Problem: My sm-g900i was running low on charge so i plugged it in to charge just like any other day but this time it didn’t want to charge i tried several other cables and ports as well as power points.. to no success i then tried booting safe mode again nothing. Then i tried soft reset and recovery boot still nothing.. and now the phone is completely flat. Anything i can do to repair it??

Solution: Right now you can try cleaning the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air then try charging it again. If you still get no response then perform a battery pull by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If the issue persists then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related problem.

S6 Stops Charging

Problem: My phone stopped receiving charge. It wasn’t dropped and it didn’t get wet. My charger works on our other phone and a different working charger does not work on my phone. So it is definitely my device with the issue. I can turn it on but it is below 10% battery so I am reluctant to do so. I would like to save my files and contacts if possible. I have cleaned out the port with compressed air multiple times. Thank you.

Solution: Try charging your phone from a computer USB port. If the phone charges this way then one of the pins of the charging port might be damaged. If this is the case then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked. You can however backup your phone data right now as soon as the battery percentage increases.

If the phone still does not charge then the problem could be caused by a damaged charging port or charging IC. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Not Turning On Unless Connected To Charger

Problem: I have a Samsung s6. About 2 months ago, I dropped my phone (about waist height) and it hit its corner (“head” down) and unless the phone is plugged into a charger, it will not come on. I have tried to reset it (holding the power button with the down volume key), but I have no response. No lights or anything. I suspect something is loose or disconnected, but I have no way to be sure.

Solution: This looks like a hardware related problem already probably caused by a faulty battery or a damaged component. The best way to pinpoint the exact cause of this problem is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Dropped In Water For Almost 45 Minutes

Problem: I have dropped my samsung galaxy s6 inside toilet bowl and it was inside it for almost 45 minutes..since the hole was too deep..it took some time to take it back..Is there any chances for it to function back?

Solution: It’s very likely that the phone is already water damaged. You will need to bring this device to a service center and have it checked since there’s a chance that only some components got affected by the water and these components might be easy to replace.

S6 Gets Hot When Charging

Problem: Hi there I have an Samsung s6 only two weeks old and I am finding that when charging it becomes very hot on the back and especially at the charging point. Is this safe and is it normal not clued on up android as always had iPhones. Thanks

Solution: When you charge a phone it is expected to heat up a little however not to the point where it gets very hot. If this is what you are experiencing every time you charge your device then  there must be something wrong related to the hardware. Try replacing the charging cord and wall charger then check if the issue still occurs.

If it does then check the charging port of your phone if it has any presence of dirt or debris. If necessary, clean this port with a can of compressed air, by blowing to it using a straw, or by busing cotton bud dipped in alcohol.

If the issue still persists then backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset check if the issue still occurs. If it does then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

S6 Stops Charging

Problem: hello. I have a galaxy s6 32gb that is a month old and I have noticed that in 2 occasions when the phone was charging it stopped from charging at 43% the first time and at 53% the second time …. on both occasions the phone started recharging after a restart of the device and I have noticed that the micro usb was getting a bit hot after the charging was restarting.  can you help me? thank you.

Solution: In most cases like this the issue is caused by a loose connection between the charger and the phone. Try getting a new charging cable and use it in charging your device. If the issue still occurs then clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol. To eliminate any charger related problems that could cause this issue try to use a different wall charger when charging your device.

S6 Does Not Turn On

Problem: my phone had 6% battery power left, i thought i could play spotify and when i turned a song on it went dead. no big deal. I charged it, walked away and when i came back the phone was still flashing red, not light up red like it would have if it was charging and the screen won’t even pop up or show any indication of life. except the red flashing light.

Solution: To resolve this problem remove the phone from its charger then simulate a battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding down the power button and volume down button for at least 7 seconds. Once this is done connect the phone to its wall charger and let it charge for at least 20 minutes.

If the problem still occurs then consider charging the phone using a different charger cord and charger.

S6 Turns Off When Not In Use

Problem: My phone just keeps going off and I can’t turn it back on. I have to hold down the volume buttons and the power button just to get it back on. I have tried wipe cache as well by holding get the volume+ home button and power button and selecting wipe Cache but it is still doing the same problem. I don’t understand what is causing the problem. It works fine when  I am using but just goes off when I am not using it.

Solution: This problem could be caused by issues with the phone software. I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done check if the phone still turns off on its own when not in use. If it does then this could be a hardware related problem possibly caused by the phone getting wet or dropped. I suggest you have your phone checked at an authorized service center if this is the case.
