S6 Stuck On Black Screen

Problem: My phone (samsung galaxy s6) is stuck on a black screen with only the blue led blinking. I already tried all the force reboots with the volume and power buttons but nothing worked. I also recharged the phone but no response. It is still stuck on the blackscreen.

Solution: Have you dropped your phone or gotten it wet? These two factors can usually cause the screen to turn black. If you haven’t dropped your phone or got it wet then listed below are the possible troubleshooting steps that you can do in this situation. Move to the next step should the problem still occur.

  • Simulate a battery pull by pressing and holding the power button and volume down button simultaneously for at least 7 seconds. Release both buttons then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol. Charge your phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of the device.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data.

If the screen is still black after performing the above steps then I suggest you have your phone checked at an authorized service center.

S6 Screen Turns On When Phone Moves

Problem: Hello. Is there a setting somewhere on the S6 that makes the screen turn on with movement (like you pick up the phone or something). Not long after getting the phone I noticed that when I was driving and my phone was sitting on the passenger seat, anytime there was any type of movement in the vehicle,  the screen would illuminate. After that,  I began noticing that it would illuminate when I pick it up. The above listed apps are the ones I downloaded on day 1, but I had them all on my previous phone and don’t think they are the source.  I don’t like the screen illuminating any time the phone moves,  but I can’t find any settings for this.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Solution: It’s possible that this issue could be caused by the gesture wake up setting that is turned on. Try turning this off first by going to Settings -> Accessibility -> Dexterity and interaction -> Gesture wake up then make sure that this is turned off. Check if the issue still occurs. If it does then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below. Move to the next step should the issue still occur.

  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Check if a third party app is causing this problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 Screen Is Black

Problem: Hi, I have an galaxy s6 active and I was reading a reading a book the other day so I set it down. About 2 hours later , when I tried to use it. The screen was black. I can tell the touchscreen was working because I could feel the vibrations when I unlock my phone. The soft reset and hard reset does not work. The screen just doesn’t power on. I removed the SIM card and now it flickers for a brief moment when I press the home button before going dead. Any suggestions on why does is happening? Thanks.

Solution: Try charging your phone first using its wall charger for 20 minutes. With the charger still connected try to turn on the phone. If it doesn’t turn on then check if you are able to access the recovery mode. From here you need to do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data. In case the screen still remains black at this point then this could already be caused by a faulty hardware, possibly the display. You will need to have your phone checked at a service center to get to the bottom of this.

S6 Screen Went Black

Problem: I  was outside in the sun with my phone on my hip for an hour or two. Went to use my phone, approximately 20% of the screen was blank. It was still functional but couldn’t see anything, it was white.  Called a buddy to talk about something non related. The screen went black. I placed the phone on the charger, it showed 87% battery life.  Went to the troubleshooting page, have not been able to reboot the phone; holding just the power key, the power key and the volume down, or the power key and the power up. I have the little blue light on, above and to the left of the Samsung logo.

Solution: This could already be a hardware issue possibly caused by a problem with the display. Try turning off your phone first and place it in a cool area. Leave it for around 2 hours then try to turn it on. If it doesn’t turn on then connect it to its wall charger leave it charging for 20 minutes then try to turn it on. If it still does not turn on check if you are able to turn on the phone in recovery mode. From here you will have to do a factory reset but take note that the phone data will be deleted.

If the above steps fail then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Touchscreen Not Responding

Problem: My touch screen is not responding although the buttons are alright. I have factory reset it but it still doesn’t work? It happened so suddenly so I don’t know what is wrong? I hope you can help me. Thank you. I’m desperate

Solution: It’s possible that the digitizer of the phone has been damaged already. Since you already performed a factory reset which fails to resolve the issue I suggest you have the phone checked at a service center.

S6 Screen Lag When Phone Comes Out Of Sleep

Problem: I updated my s6 to marshmallow and since then have problems with the screen responding when the phone is locked or not used for a couple of minutes. When you press the home or power buttons the screen takes between 6 and 20 seconds to light up and then when it does it is a jumble of pixels for a further 5 seconds. I have cleared the cache using power, home and volume buttons and have also started in safe mode and factory reset the phone but the issue still persists. Am at a complete loss now, please help!

Solution: This is indeed quite strange as the factory reset should have resolved the issue. If you can flash the previous software version to your phone then it would be good since we can check if this problem is really caused by the Marshmallow update. Instructions on how to flash your  phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.

If the issue still occurs even on Lollipop then this is most likely a hardware related issue already. I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

S6 Startup Screen Keeps Flashing

Problem: Hi I hope you can help My phone will not turn on to normal mode. It comes on holding the volume up key, home and power button but then proceeds to do a system update. Once the system update is complete to 100% it then goes back off and then black and white startup screen just keeps flashing. The only other screen I can manage to get is the odin mode which again just stays stuck in that mode. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance Mel

Solution: Try simulating a battery pull on your phone by pressing and holding both the power and volume down button for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If the issue remains then try connecting the phone to its wall charger. Let it charge for at least 20 minutes before turning it on by pressing the power button. Make sure that the phone is still connected to its charger when doing this.

If the issue persists then do the following steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. Restart the phone then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

If the above steps don’t work then you should consider flashing your phone with its updated stock firmware file. You can download the firmware file of your phone from the Sammobile website which also has the instructions on the flashing procedure.

S6 Screen Went Black

Problem: Hello- My Samsung Galaxy S6 had a battery charge and the screen went blank. The phone is in excellent condition and has been protected by an otterbox, with little to no drops. Verizon and a phone fix it place weren’t able to let me know what was wrong, assuming it was hardware issues. Is there anyway to do a reset and/or get the documents off the phone?

Solution: Unless the phone is able to turn on you will not be able to access the data stored in it. Have you done the troubleshooting steps recommended for this type of problem? Below are the steps that you need to perform.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air making sure to remove any dirt or debris that could be stuck in the port.
  • Simulate a battery pull by pressing and holding both the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger
  • Try charging your phone from a computer USB port.

If the phone remains unresponsive then you will need to have this checked at a service center.

S6 Not Getting Software Updates

Problem: I have a Samsung so G920A model but will not let me update software, it is still running on lollipop 5.1.I have done factory reset and still no joy, I have been on smart switch which is saying current software up to date.

Solution: There are some conditions that your phone must meet in order for it to get official software updates.

  • Your phone must not be rooted.
  • Your phone must not be running on a custom software.
  • If you had this phone unlocked then it should be running on its original network in order for it to access the update servers.

Since you have already done a factory reset and even tried updating using Smart Switch which failed then you should consider manually flashing the software update. You can download your phone’s firmware file from the Sammobile website which also contains instructions on how to flash your phone.

S6 Custom Binary Block

Problem: Please help. . We bought a galaxy s6 on ebay when we got it my son turned it on and everything was working, note we had not connect it to a phone company yet. When he turned it off and then on again the next day it now says Custom binary blocked by FAP lock. Please help our 12 year old bought with his own money and is pretty upset it won’t work. Thanks for your time. I’m not sure what version it is.

Solution: To fix this you need to manually flash the stock firmware file of the phone using Odin. You can download the firmware file of this particular model from the Sammobile website.

S6 Touchscreen Not Working After Phone Fell

Problem: I have an s6 and yesterday it fell from a desk . It has a case, and the fall was not too high. Since that moment, touch screen does not work. I tried a hard reset, but when I get to the setup screen, can’t click START neither course the language. I am not sure if the fall was the cause of the touch screen dearth, but it looks likely. Could you give another tip to try? Thanks much

Solution: If after doing a factory reset the problem still occurs then the display might have been damaged by the fall. Have this checked at a service center. You probably will need to have the whole display assembly replaced.

S6 Recent Apps Back Button Unresponsive

Problem: My recent apps and back functions are totally unresponsive….makes it virtually impossible to use my phone …can’t get out of current applications…have to go to home screen…but when I reopen the app I was using it remains of. The last page viewed and I can’t get to a new page

Solution: Try starting your phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue occurs even in Safe Mode then you should try doing a factory reset . Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then this could already be a hardware related issue. You will need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Showing Logos Of Apps On Display

Problem: Hi my samsung s6 shows writing on the display it shows logos like facebook whatsapp and all other applications and i have tried factory reset but it still does not works it it still there when you go on a white layout you can clearly see it please help thanks

Solution: It appear that the display has suffered some burn in issues. Try to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If the issue still remains then you will most likely need to have the display assembly replaced if you want the issue to disappear.

S6 Pictures And Apps Missing

Problem: My S6 began to act up. It would not sync up with my fitbit any longer, it showed I sent a text, but others did not receive it. I restarted it and my fitbit worked briefly. When I restarted it again, it lost all of my pictures and apps, but my contacts remained.  The Verizon guy said my phone had been “wiped” clean and reset to factory specs.  I’m the only one with access to my phone and did not knowingly reset it.  Is there any way to get my valuable pictures back?

Solution: If you have setup the Google Photos app to sync your photos then these photos will be available for you to access from Google Photos. If you have not setup any cloud storage solution to save your photos then there is no way to recover your photos when the phone has undergone a factory reset.

S6 Loses Internet Connection

Problem: The phone loses internet connection turning wifi off and on doesn’t reconnect and when i reset the phone it bricks so i have to keep factory resetting the phone I am able to provide a photo of the reboot page if that helps

Solution: Have you tried checking if the issue occurs when the phone is connected to a different Wi-Fi network? If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by the particular Wi-Fi network that you are connecting to ( probably a router issue).

In case the issue persists and since you mentioned that you have to keep on performing a factory reset then I recommend that you first try flashing your phone with its updated firmware file using Odin. You can get this file from the Sammobile website which is also where you can get the instructions on how to flash your phone.

If the issue still persists then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Touchscreen Not Working After Getting Wet

Problem: I dropped my Samsung in a pot of water. It’s on and chargers but the touchscreen not working. I have factory restart my phone but didn’t work, and it’s not like I can take the back off the phone off.. please help.

Solution: What you need to do in this case is to make sure that the inside of the phone is free from moisture. Turn off the phone and disconnect it from its charger. Place the device in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours Once this is done turn on the phone then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then the digitizer of the phone might have been damaged when the phone came in contact with water. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Charge Stays at 0% After Phone Dropped

Problem: Hi, I dropped my phone while it was on 80% and then it shut down and when I charged it, it was back at 0%. As its on the charger, it works as normal but the charge won’t go up, it just stays at 0%. I’ve tried restarting it multiple times and used different chargers on it and it still does the same thing.

Solution: Try cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you should try performing a factory reset to check if this issue is caused by a software glitch. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Screen Is Unresponsive

Problem: My s6 screen was unresponsive. I tried everything to fix/troubleshoot the problem. As there was no damage to the screen(visible damage) I sent it back to my contract provider because it was under warranty. They have said there is a crack in the camera lens and that would cost £60+ to replace. I don’t understand how this would affect the screen and as this problem was long standing where I would have to reset or rapidly to get the screen responding again – I don’t understand how suddenly the screen is not working. I haven’t dropped it etc. Can you tell me if this sounds right ? as any other troubleshooting tips have mentioned nothing about a camera lens being broken to affect the screen

Solution: The crack on the camera lens might be caused by a drop or some pressure exerted on the phone. This will in turn possibly have an effect on how the screen works. What you will want to do in this case is to perform a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will delete your phone data. If the screen still does not work after this then you will need to have this fixed at a service center.

S6 Is Not Responding

Problem: i was texting someone while riding with someone in a car and i went to go turn it on after a few minutes and got no response at all. no LEDS notifications and no response when on a charger. i have not dropped this device once or had it sustain any damage whatsoever. i’m also not sure what my android version is so im filling in a random one

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge. In order to do this follow the steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a wall charger.
  • If there is no charging indicator then try charging the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port.
  • Turn on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely a hardware related issue in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Randomly Shutting Off After Nougat Update

Problem: Hello. Please help. I have a Samsung galaxy s6. After updating to nougat, I’m experiencing these problems. My phone keeps shutting off on its own although battery is still full. First time it shut off, I force started it back as it wouldn’t start back by pressing the power key. After that it would shut off on its own when I touch on any apps. No specific apps in particular. It can be either WhatsApp or Fb or even the phone camera. I have tried wiping off the cache partition in recovery mode. No difference. Now the condition has worsened. My phone cannot function once I remove the charger connection. It shuts off. I have already tried updating the software and updating the apps. Could it be a battery problem? How about if I revert to the software before nougat?

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this case is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset from the recovery mode. Once this is done do not install any apps in your phone yet. If the issue persists then this is most likely caused by a hardware component that is failing to work properly possibly the battery or power IC. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Not Turning On Unless Plugged To Charger

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy S6 won’t turn on unless the battery is plugged in; and in that case, only the “charging signal” with show up but I can’t turn the phone completely on. It was fully charged when it stopped working, and I left it to charge all night.

Solution: Unfortunately this is already a hardware related issue possibly caused by a faulty battery or power IC. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it fixed.

S6 Screen Went Black

Problem: Hi, just an FYI, maybe you already know this, so forgive me if you’ve already posted this tip. First-issue. My S6 went black after I dropped it. I tried the power button, the home button, using the quick camera feature by hitting the home button 2x, did all this repeatedly to no success. So THEN I pushed in ALL the buttons at once for 12 seconds-as in both volume up/down, home button and power button. Once I held for 10-12 seconds, the screen came back on and offered many options in small font. I chose “reboot” by toggling with volume down, and selected it by hitting the power button. It just basically powered back up from the “SAMSUNG” screen and I was back to business. Hope this helps.

Solution: Sometimes just rebooting the phone will help solve this particular issue. We’re happy that this worked in your case.

S6 Screen Keeps Lighting Up In Sleep Mode

Problem: My screen keeps lighting up after I put it into sleep mode and it will not stop. It does this all day long and drains the battery. Any tips of how to fix that?

Related Problem: I recently got a phone from my insurance company and have had nothing but problems with it. The screen will not stop turning itself on and off. I put it in sleep and the screen lights back up and it drains my battery. How can I get this issue fixed? -Thanks

Solution: What you will want to do first in when your phone screen keeps turning itself on and off is to check if it is caused by an app you installed. To do this just start your phone in Safe Mode. When your phone works in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then there’s a chance that it could be caused by an app you  downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Should the issue still occur even in Safe Mode then your other option is to do a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete don’t install any apps yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then You will have to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Screen Not working After Phone Dropped

Problem: I had my phone in my pocket connected to my portable charger for around an hour. I take my phone out of my pocket and proceed to accidentally drop it flat on its back, camera side down. I had my tech21 case and sticky phone wallet on the wallet to absorb most of the shock. The screen automatically goes black and a solid, blue LED light turned on and stayed on. It also wouldn’t charge for a while. Since then the LED sometimes goes off until I put it on the wireless charger, sometimes switches red but mostly just stays blue.

Solution: The drop might have damaged the display assembly or it might have loosened the connection between the display assembly and the motherboard. What you can do on your end right now is to try to start the phone in recovery mode. If the screen works in this mode then the problem could be caused by a software glitch. You will have to do a factory reset in this mode. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding.

If the issue remains even in recovery mode or if you are unable to access the recovery mode then I suggest that you bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Screen Went Black

Problem: Daughter was playing a game on my galaxy s6 active when the screen went black I’ve tried everything from soft reboot to plugging in and charging the cell. Nothing is working the little lite on the top will blink blue and sometime when you hold in the poster key it’s flashes white but that’s it.

Related Problem: Galaxy S6 Blue light on constantly Screen not working Have tried rebooting by holding down all buttons Screen randomly flashes some colour down the very left of the screen Looks like it will charge as when hold down all buttons the light changes from red to green however when turn back on after this the screen still stays blank and the blue light is shown constantly again

Solution: Try simulating a battery pull on your phone first by pressing and holding the power button and volume down button for at least 10 seconds. Normally your phone should restart after this.

If the issue still occurs then try the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port.
  • Charge your phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger. Check if the phone turns on.
  • If the phone does not turn on then try starting the phone in recovery mode. If you can access this mode then attempt to wipe the cache partition first then restart the device. If this doesn’t work then you will have to do a factory reset in recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy of your data.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
