S6 Edge Stuck In Boot Loop After Software Update

Problem: Hey guys, I updated to the new Android system on my Galaxy S6 edge and now it’s stuck in a boot loop.  I’ve tried everything suggested, even reset to factory settings. It’s been doing this for about two hours now – it doesn’t seem to actually be doing anything. How long should a factory reset take?  Thank You.

Solution: A factory reset should only take a couple of minutes to perform. If it’s still doing the reset after an hours then chances are something went wrong during the update process which could have corrupted the phone software. Your best option right now is to flash the phone with its updated stock firmware file. You can download the firmware file of your phone from the Sammobile website where you can also find the instructions on how to flash your device.

S6 Edge Software Update Has Failed

Problem: My samsung s6 edge states that there is an update available but the phone starts to update then gets to a certain point and turns off then on then says update has failed.

Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to check if this is a connection related problem. Try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network then do the update. If the issue persists then you should try to use Smart Switch to update your phone software.

You should also consider doing a factory reset on your phone before checking for the software update.

S6 Edge Freezes After Booting

Problem: Hi all , my s6 edge froze after seconds from booting !! i doing some solutions like wipe data, flash the last stock rom in odin and after booting still the same problem or froze in through wipe , some time froze when enter the recovery mod !! only download mode working fine !

any help pls

Solution: Try to access the recovery mode then from here wipe the cache partition of the phone then follow this up with a factory reset. If your phone still freezes after booting up then this could already be a hardware related problem. I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge IMEI Null After Software Update

Problem: I upgraded my phone to marshmallow 6.0.1, it was running perfectly then after 2-3 days it showed emergency calls only option. When I checked its IMEI it was null. Now it is not working properly.

Solution: This issue could be caused by a software glitch. Try turning off the phone and take out its SIM card. Reinsert the SIM card after a few minutes then turn on the phone. Does the issue still occur? If it does then I suggest that you try doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Should the issue persist then the phone might have a corrupted IMEI folder. To fix this you will need to flash your phone with its updated stock firmware file. You can get the firmware file of your phone from the Sammobile website which also provides the instructions on how to flash your phone.

S6 Edge Has Factory Reset Protection

Problem: Hello I have Galaxy S6 Edge T-Mobile and I am trying to set up the phone but its has factory reset protection on it. Its asking me to enter previous owner gmail account to unlock factory reset protection. But it is my brother’s ID and he forget it and don’t remember it and can’t even reset the account. So, now I am trying to bypass the protection. I have OTG USB and put the apk but for some reason the file explorer is not poping up. The phone detect the USB but its not popping up. Can you help me what to do???

Solution: One way to workaround this FRP lock is to sideload an APK file to the phone from an OTG USB. The APK file can be sideloaded since the file manager app will automatically pop up. In this case though the file manager does not open. You should try to restart the phone then repeat the process to check if the file manager will activate.

If the issue persists then you should consider flashing the updated stock firmware file of your phone via Odin.

S6 Edge Bootloop After OTA Update

Problem: Hello I have a problem with my s6 edge i have make an update OTA but the phone is keeping bootloop with logo samsung and after  into the recovery mode i have try wipe data and wipe cache but the result is the same the firmware is original samsung

Solution: For this issue I recommend that you do a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

S6 Edge Random Ads Appearing After software Update

Problem: So my issue is that my phone updated to the latest software. Now all of a sudden my have random adverts playing and some of my apps such as Snapchat have started to glitch. I haven’t downloaded anything since before this update. So I don’t know what’s going on. Any help would be appreciated

Solution: The ads appearing in your device could be caused by a third party app you installed. To check if this is the case you have to start your phone in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 Edge Not Getting Software Update

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, AT&T, is running on the original Lollipop 5.02 software.  Each time I search for a software update it says the current software is update. I have called AT&T to push the software update our to phone, however they are unable to do so.

Solution: There are several reasons why a phone will not get a software update which we have listed below.

  • The phone was unlocked and it is not running on its original network.
  • The phone is rooted.
  • The phone is running on a custom software.

If your phone does not have an issue with the above conditions then you should try to use Smart Switch to update your phone. If this still fails then backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete you should check for the update again.

One last step that you should consider is to manually flash the updated firmware file to your phone. You can download your phone’s firmware file from the Sammobile website where you will also find instructions on how to flash your phone.

S6 Edge Automatically Turns Off After Software Update

Problem: My auntie in taiwan bought me a samsung s6 edge in their country and then brought here in Philippines. When I opened it and update the software it turned out to hang and automatically turning off. What should I do to fix my new phone. I haven’t yet use it. Thank you and hoping for your positive and fast response.

Solution: Try connecting the phone to its charger then let it charge for at least 20 minutes. Once this is done start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. As soon as the reset is complete you should check for the update again.

S6 Edge+ Does Not Charge

Problem: I put my galaxy s6 edge plus on charge with power bank at night and unplugged in the morning.after this my mobile doesn’t charge at all. nothing happens when i plug the charging cable with charger or pc. but usb is working.

Related Problem: My Galaxy 6s edge+ won’t charge.  I’ve done a soft reset, wiped the cache AND done a complete reset.  It helped for a few days, but it’s happening again.  Can you help me?

Solution: The first thing that you need to do when a phone does not charge is to clean the charging port using a can of compressed air. One the port is free from any dirt or debris try charging your phone again. If you still don’t see any charging indicator then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port ( if it does then one of the pins of the charging port is faulty. You will need to have this checked at a service center). If you still get no response from the phone then perform a simulated battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Charge your phone for 20 minutes after this.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could be caused by a faulty battery.

S6 Edge+ Shut Down After Getting Wet

Problem: I was swimming and some water splashed on my phone and it shut down immediately. I took immediately and put it in rice for couple of days. I tried restarting it nothing comes on display but the light on top blinked once and then shut down and did not turn back on

Solution: You should try charging the phone first and make sure that the battery has sufficient charge. It’s best if you clean the charging port first using a can of compressed air to remove any particles that might be stuck in this port. After 20 minutes of charging try turning on the phone. If it doesn’t turn on then there’s a possibility that it has been water damaged. If this is the case then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge+ Charges Very Slowly After Nougat Update

Problem: I recently did an update to the kernel version 7.0 & since then it’s taking my battery over 9 hours to charge on the fast charger, this used to only take slightly over 1 hour anyway to fix it without removing the battery as i have no way to do this.

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to clean the charging port of the phone making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed. Once this is done charge the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger. It’s best to use a charger that has an output of at least 2.0A.

In case the issue still occurs then the problem could be caused by a software glitch in which case you will need to perform a troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could be caused by a faulty battery.

S6 Edge+ Not Getting Software Update

Problem: I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, currently using it on MetroPCS. It’s running Android version 6.0.1 Marshmallow, every time I open settings, and try to check for system updates, it tells me “software update is temporarily unavailable. Try again later.”. Now I know that since I have a Verizon phone, in order to receive OTA updates for my phone, I must be on their network, I understand that I’m not on their network, but is there not another way to receive the update, or somehow update it myself? I’ve tried turning off my mobile data (thus not running on MetroPCS network), connecting to my Verizon WiFi, and then trying to check for the update, but I still get the same message. I don’t have access to a computer or laptop. I’m pretty tech savvy, but when it comes to flashing and firmware…. I’m completely lost. Also, one more thing, since I do have the S6 edge plus, there’s no option for an SD card, so I would really love to avoid having to do factory reset…. if at all possible. Thanks

Solution: The best way to update your phone software without resorting to a factory reset and without the use of a computer is to insert an active Verizon SIM card in your phone. Once this SIM is inserted you should proceed with manually checking for the software update then update the phone accordingly.

One other way to update your phone software is to flash it with its updated firmware file using Odin. You will however need access to a computer to do this. If you can get hold of a computer then you just have to visit the Sammobile website to download the firmware file of your phone and to get the instructions on how to flash your phone.

S6 Edge+ Stuck In Boot Screen After Update

Problem: Hello I have galaxy s6 edge plus and i am i sweden i did update it but after that i won’t work again when i turn on the phone it will freeze on the first screen (samsung galaxy s6 edge+) and i did try all think to fix it but it won’t to start again and i need my phone very much i hope if you can help me

Solution: It looks like this problem is caused by a software glitch. You should try starting the phone in recovery mode then from here perform a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

S6 Edge+ Screen Flickers When Using Apps

Problem: Screen flickers every time I play a game or when I am streaming and on video call. Definitely not a hardware issue because the flickering stops when I close the app that I am into. I already tried uninstalling the apps that affects my phone. Tried clearing the cache. I have basically tried everything that are on your troubleshooting list. Can you help me on this one? Thank you!

Solution: You should try starting your phone in Safe Mode then check if the flickering issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then you might have installed an app that is causing this problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the screen still flickers in Safe Mode then backup your phone data then do a factory reset. As soon as the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the problem still occurs. If it does then this is most likely a hardware related issue already. You will then need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ Not Turning On After Getting Wet Issue & Other Related Problems

Welcome to another installment of our troubleshooting series where we aim to help our readers who own the #Samsung #Galaxy #S6Edge+ fix the problems that they are experiencing with their phone. Released in 2015, this is the bigger brother of the S6 Edge as it sports a larger 5.7 inch Super AMOLED display. With its larger display the phone is also able to use a larger 3000 mAh battery. Although this is a solid performer there are instances when certain issues can occur on the device which we will be addressing today. S6 Edge+ Not Turning On After Getting Wet

Problem: i went to the beach today, and my bag fell into the water with my phone inside, unfortunately for me it went off and i try to turn it on, but there is only a blue light that shows off on the charging site. i even try to see if the battery was affected by taking my sim card off the phone; but nothing . the blue light is still there but the phone won’t turn on. help please.

Solution: Since this model does not have any water resistance feature then it is very likely that the problem is caused by liquid entering the device. What you will want to do right now is to make sure that the phone is dry. Wipe the external part with a dry cloth. Once the external part is dry place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture inside the device. After 48 hours have passed try turning on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.

If the issue still persists then clean the charging port of  the phone using a can of compressed air then charge your phone for at least 20 minutes. Check if the phone turns on after this.

If the phone does not turn on then you will need to bring this to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge+ Screen Not Working After Getting Wet

Problem: My little sister had my phone under water and I dried it off and put it in dried rice. The buttons were working fine but not the screen. I couldn’t open any app. It’s still in rice for at least 30 minutes now.

Related Problem: Hi there! Accidently my car cologne dripped on my phone and later fell from my lap. Now it starts with the welcome words but with two green coloured horizontal lines on the top and bottom and then becomes unresponsive.

Solution: You will need to leave the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. If the screen still doesn’t work after this then it could be damaged by the water. The best thing to do right now is to have the phone checked at a service center.

S6 Edge+ Apps Not Opening After Software Update

Problem: Since updated the software last week, some apps are not able to open eg etsy; pinterest ; and facebook. When i click to that specific apps to open, the screen is on for 1 sec and then close it automatically same problem to etsy pinterest and facebook. I have never had this problem b4 updating the software.

Solution: Try checking if any of your apps have any updates then update them accordingly. You can do this by opening the Google Play Store then go to the My Apps section.

In case all your apps are already updated but the issue still occurs then it’s possible that this is already caused by some old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process. This old data is now causing a conflict with the new software version.

What you need to do to fix the problem is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 Edge+ Only Charges To 50%

Problem: I have an s6 edge plus it suddenly started charging up to 50% but the charge only lasted 5 mins so the phone has to stay plugged on. I carried it to fix they said was the battery we changed the battery but i still have the same problem.. The phone has to stay on the charger and it only charges up to 50%

Solution: If the battery has already been replaced and the issue still occurs then this might already be caused by a faulty power IC. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have this checked.

S6 Edge+ Can’t Update Software

Problem: I bought this phone at AT&T and I switched to T-Mobile. Now, I can not update the software because it says that it has the latest software up to date. I was looking to flash the phone but i am afraid of doing that. your help will be appreciated.

Solution: If you can get hold of an AT&T SIM card and insert it in your phone then you will be able to get the software update. Just make sure that your phone is not rooted or running on a custom software.

In case you don’t have an AT&T SIM card then try connecting the phone to a computer with Smart Switch installed then let the software update your phone.

If the above steps fail to work then you should consider flashing the phone using Odin with its updated firmware file. You can get the instructions on how to flash your phone as well as the firmware file of your device from the Sammobile website.

S6 Edge+ Not Getting Software Update

Problem: I haven’t still not got the Nougat update in my S6 edge plus. The device is updated to Marshmallow. How can i get it updated to Nougat?

Solution: There are several conditions that your phone must meet in order for it to get the software update.

  • Your phone must not be rooted
  • Your phone must not be running on a custom software
  • If you had this phone unlocked then it should be running on its original network.

If your phone meets the conditions listed above and it is not getting updates then try to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete use Smart Switch to update your phone.

If the above steps don’t work then you should consider flashing your phone with its updated firmware file.

S6 Edge Freezes After Starting

Problem: I have rebooted my s6 edge and done the catch clear and reboot. The phone turns on but freezes after 2 minutes. When plugged in charging as well the phone freezes so having to reboot the phone every time. Anything else I can try? Not sure of the android version. Thank you

Solution: What you should do first in this situation is to check if the problem is caused by some software glitch by following the troubleshooting steps listed below. Check if the issue still occurs after performing one step then move to the next if it still does.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. When your phone is started in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. This makes it easier to check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps don’t fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Split Screen Keeps Activating

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge keeps flipping between what application I’m in and trying to split the screen even though I’ve never enabled that feature. In doing so it causes the phone to thump and it causes the battery to begin to overheat. I took it to the AT&T store and was told to try and Purge some data to free up space. I did this but it did not solve the problem. How do I stop this from happening?

Solution: You will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset for this type of problem. Once the reset is complete don’t install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs.  If it does then this could already be a hardware related problem in which case you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Constant Boot Loop

Problem: Hello, I am experiencing a constant Boot Loop with my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. I performed all the steps suggested on your website, including Performing a Master Reset, and still the issue persists. If you are able to provide an alternative solution to resolve the issue I would be most appreciative. Thank you, Adam

Solution: If the factory reset fails to fix this problem then one other thing you should consider is to manually flash the phone with its updated firmware file. Instructions on how to perform this procedure can be found at several of the popular Android forums online. If this still fails to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Not Switching On After Getting Wet

Problem: My samsung galaxy s6 edge fell inside a pool and when i try switching it on it appear and goes off but when someone tried calling me it comes but can’t pick up as the screen turns black sometimes it comes and go. When i charge it fully charged and try switching it on again it won’t even switch on again. Please kindly help me

Solution: Some water might have entered the phone causing some erratic performance to some of the internal components of the device. What you should do first in this case is to place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone. Once this is done try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Keeps On Rebooting

Problem: hello. i have samsung galaxy s6 edge. from the last couple of days, i am facing the problem of rebooting of the phone. I have done everything to cure it like master reset, wiping the cache memory out but still i am facing the same problem. i thought it might be the battery issue but when i connect to the charger still i am facing the same issue. kindly help me out. thank you

Solution: Since you already performed a factory reset which failed to fix the problem then chances are this could already be a hardware related problem. You should however consider flashing your phone with an updated firmware file to check if the problem is caused by the current software installation of your phone. Instructions on how to flash your device can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.

If flashing the phone fails to fix the problem then you should have this checked at a service center.

S6 Edge Pink Horizontal Line Appears In Screen

Problem: My phone has also an horizontal line appear I tried so many times to turn off..and turn it again but pink horizontal line still appearing..I was thinking that may be there will be a problem on my screen.. my screen is ok..only the pink horizontal line will bothered me and it so disgusting…. Will you please assist me on what to do with this problem….

Solution: Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If after the reset the pink line still appears then this could be caused by a damaged display assembly. If this is the case then I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

S6 Edge Not Able To Install Latest Software Updates

Problem: Hi, My phone (S6 EDGE – SM-G925F)  is not able to install the latest Android update. Version: G925FXXU4DPJG/G925FVFG4DPJG/G925FXXU4DPIT (size 157.52MB). It stucks on update process on 25%, hangs there for a moment and then restarts, saying that failed to update firmware. Last time it was updated was around September 2016. Since then I wasn’t able to install the software updates because of this problem. I appreciate any suggestions.

Solution: It’s possible that this could be caused by a glitch in the phone software. Try updating your phone using Kies. If the update still fails then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete perform the software update again.

S6 Edge Not Getting Software Update

Problem: Hi, I bought my samsung s6 edge (unlocked at&t) in the states, but live in Israel (using a local sim) I have not been able to update the software from 5.1 to current 6.1. When I check for software update, I get a reply that the phone is up to date (although it is running android 5.1. Baseband version: G925AUCU3BOJ7) How can I update the software?..

Solution: There are certain conditions that must be met by your phone before it can get the latest updates.

  • Your phone must not be rooted.
  • Your phone must be running on its official software.
  • If the phone has been unlocked then it should be running on its original network to be able to access the update servers.

Since this is originally an AT&T phone  and you are using it on a different network then this is the most likely reason why you are not getting the update.

Try updating the phone software using Kies. If the phone still doesn’t get the updates then you should consider manually flashing the updated firmware file to your phone.
