S6 Edge Failed To Update Software

Problem: Hi My android device shows the error message “Failed to update software, please try again later” during the installation period after taking 3 hours to update even after a couple of tries. Due to this, my youtube app and snapchat isn’t working either, although i can access it through other devices. So i’m assuming the apps will start working once the software successfully updates. Please help, thanks.

Solution: It’s either the update has successfully downloaded and can’t install in your phone ( possibly due to lack of internal storage space or due to a glitch) or the update can’t be completely downloaded which results in this issue.

To resolve this problem make sure that your phone has sufficient internal storage space available. You should also connect your phone to a stable and fast Wi-Fi network to avoid any download issues.

I however recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset before downloading the update.

S6 Edge Stuck In Boot Loop After Software Update

Problem: Device updated successfully and now is stuck in boot loop, device worked fine for a few hours after update until battery was flat, upon charging and turning device back on it boot loops, cannot enter recovery mode or safe mode but can access download mode PLEASE HELP!!

Solution: Try simulating a battery pull in your device first by simultaneously pressing the power button and volume down button for at least 20 seconds. Your phone should restart normally after this. If it doesn’t then I recommend that you start your phone in Safe Mode. If your phone boots up in Safe Mode then I recommend that you backup your phone data. Once the data has been backed up restart your phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset from here.

If the above steps fails to fix the issue then I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Error Has Occurred While Updating Device Software

Problem: I updated my phone and installed the newest software and now the phone is stuck with ‘AN ERROR HAS OCCURRED WHILE UPDATING THE DEVICE SOFTWARE. USE THE EMERGENCY RECOVERY FUNCTION IN THE SMART SWITCH PC SOFTWARE’ –  I have tried everything from trying to factory reset, put in safe mode, put in recovery mode etc by holding the buttons and everything else. No luck !. the phone powers off when i do not connect to the power cable as well. the phone does nothing except from be stuck on this screen when the cable is connected. Please can you help because this is a brand new mobile phone and i want to use it again.

Solution: This appears to be a hardware related issue already since you mentioned that the phone turns off if it isn’t connected to its power cable. You can however do some troubleshooting steps on this phone by following the steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone by using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using a straw.
  • Try using a different USB cord on your phone when connecting the phone to a computer with Smart Switch running. Try to recover the phone software. You should also try to temporarily disable any security software in your computer as this might interfere with the phone to computer connection.

If the issue remains unresolved then I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Keeps On Rebooting

Problem: My S6 Edge on Verizon continually reboots itself.  I used the phone yesterday morning.  Came back to it about an hour later and it is just constantly rebooting. It basically starts and then about 60 seconds later it reboots itself.  Does this over and over.  I booted into safe mode and it did the same thing – rebooted about a minute later.  I wiped the cache following the instructions on this site.  I’d like to recover my data.  Is that going to be possible or must I do a factory reset?  What if it reboots during a factory reset?  Will it brick my phone?  Please help!

Solution: Try checking if the phone reboots when it is connected to its charger. If it doesn’t then we might be looking at a faulty battery issue. If it still reboots then the problem is most likely software related. If you were able to wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode then the phone is not likely going to reboot if you do a factory reset ( also in recovery mode). Since you haven’t made a backup of your phone data yet try to check if you can backup your phone data while your phone is in Safe Mode. You should also check if you can backup your phone data using Smart Switch.

S6 Edge Stuck In Ultra Power Saving Mode

Problem: On s6 edge with marshmallow I activated ultra battery save mode. I turned off the device and when I turned on I got a screen requesting to choose a launcher, I might had pressed volume buttons. I chose google now. Not i am stuck in ultra saving mode and google now. I want to go back to touchwiz and turn off ultra save mode but my apps are disabled the settings show only basic functions. I do not have battery settings or settings for apps. I already tried restarting in safe mode and I got same results. I have screenshots of what I see. Please HELP. Thanks

Solution: To resolve this issue try to perform the steps listed below.

  • Open the App Drawer
  • Select the Google App and drag it to your home screen (but do not drop it)
  • You should see “App info”  on the Home Screen
  • Drop the Google App onto the “app info”
  • Force Stop it and Clear the defaults.
  • The next action or app open should let you choose which Launcher you want.
  • Select TouchWiz
  • You will now be able to exit from UPSM

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Keeps On Restarting Issue & Other Related Problems

S6 Edge Keeps On Restarting

Problem: my phone is Samsung S6 edge plus SM-928G it keep on restarting again and again i don’t know why. i didn’t install any custom rom or firmware update just automatically. In its notification light it glows all the colours and just restarts. I did a factory data reset also somehow but still no effect. can you help?

Solution: One of the most common factors that can cause this problem is a software glitch which can usually be resolved by performing a factory reset. Since you already did the reset and the issue still persists then this is most likely a hardware related problem already possibly caused by an internal component that is failing to work properly ( this could be the battery or the power IC). The best thing that you can do in this particular case is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Keeps On Overheating

Problem: My samsung galaxy s6 edge keeps on overheating and it drains the battery. i was on 60% and less than an hour it went to 1% and i didn’t use it. Also my phone slows down and it takes forever to do anything. Please help

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to check if an app you installed is causing the problem. To do this you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode. when the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. Does the issue occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. In case the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Lightning Bolt Icon When Charging

Problem: Hello, My Galaxy S6 Edge suddenly went out after the ‘15% battery left’ warning. When I put it in the charger, a logo with the battery and a lightning bolt shows up – and nothing more. It doesn’t show how far the charging is in % or light up the small LED at the top. I can’t get the power back on by holding the power button, and it does not respond to holding the power button and volume down button down at the same time (Soft Reset) or holding the power, volume up and home button down (Hard Reset). I’m a bit lost here – what more can I do?

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris that might be stuck in this port. Once the port is clean try charging the phone again for at least 20 minutes. If the issue persists then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port. To turn on the phone you should press and hold the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Gets Hot When Charging Not Turning On

Problem: Not 100% which version of android it’s running, however – here’s the scenario.  I plugged into usb to charge, on samsung charger.  After a while – I checked phone – it was noticeably warmer than normal but had reached 100%.  I unplugged it.  At this time the phone was hot enough – to not hole in one spot for very long without moving it in the hand.  I was checking to see what apps were running, etc.  within just a couple minutes the battery life showed 50% … after about 5-10 minutes, the phone powered off, and has since not been able to turn on.  This morning, I brought it to work, to throw on my wireless charger to see if that made a difference – as it would be a different charge circuit – still not powering on, normal, power button plus volume down, or pwr vlm, and home button – nothing. At this stage – I’m kind of thinking IC chip fried?  or battery shorted.  either way, I think now the battery voltage is low enough that it wont charge.  and of course, wont turn on.  I’m wondering what a repair would cost if i sent it in.  I was able to contact samsung and they did provide me with a ticket number.  beyond that – i’m at a loss.  I would like the data recovered, but not sure I would keep the phone much after.

Solution: The first thing that needs to be checked in this case is the battery as it might already be faulty. If it is found out that the battery is defective then another thing to consider is why this battery got damaged. There might be another circuit involved that is causing the battery to fail which also needs to be checked as the problem might happen to the  replacement battery. You will need to contact the service center where the phone will be repaired to get an estimate as to how much it is going to cost.

S6 Edge Keeps On Rebooting

Problem: Hello, i have had a problem a few months ago where my S6 Edge kept rebooting randomly and i eventually had to factory reset to fix it , and just yesterday the same thing happened once again! It kept rebooting like mad and i just about managed to backup everything before so i decided for another factory reset, only this time my phone wont turn on after i’ve factory reset it. I try and turn it on but it just reboots then there’s a black screen with white LED and the only time it powers off is when the battery dies out. Can anyone please help me resolve this issue as i am desperate..

Solution: Try charging your phone for at least 20 minutes then with the phone still connected to its charger turn it on. If the phone turns on then the problem might just be caused by a drained battery. In case the phone does not turn on then this could already be caused by a hardware component that is failing to work properly. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Problem Connecting To Wi-Fi After Nougat Update

Problem: Hi Ever since the new update to 7.0 my phone has had problems connecting to the WiFi and not just at home, at work as well. I’ve tried forgetting both networks and re-adding them but still just wont connect saying there’s a credentials error even though the credentials are correct. if i restart my phone it connects to the WiFi straight away with no problem. but i don’t want to have to restart my phone everytime i change Wifi Connections. Any help would be great Thanks

Solution: This is most likely caused by some old software data that has not been completely removed during the software update. The best way to resolve this problem is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 Edge Screen Is Unresponsive After Getting Wet

Problem: Samsung S6 edge dropped in the toilet was in there a matter of seconds in the time it took for me to put my hand in and rescue it. It switches on receives calls and texts but the screen won’t let me put my pin in to access everything I can reset with the down volume and power button but cannot just turn it off or access the phone

Related Problem: i dropped my samsung galaxy s6 edge in water about 5 days ago and i immediately dried it and put it in rice for 5 days now i tried powering it on 2 days ago but the screen wouldn’t turn on and only the flash would work i would really appreciate if you could help me as i am currently borrowing a friends phone. thanks.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to wipe the phone dry with a soft cloth. Once the phone is dry place it in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture found inside the phone. Check if the issue still occurs after this. If it does then the phone might be water damaged in which case you will need to bring it to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Freezes After Starting

Problem: I have rebooted my s6 edge and done the catch clear and reboot. The phone turns on but freezes after 2 minutes. When plugged in charging as well the phone freezes so having to reboot the phone every time. Anything else I can try? Not sure of the android version. Thank you

Solution: What you should do first in this situation is to check if the problem is caused by some software glitch by following the troubleshooting steps listed below. Check if the issue still occurs after performing one step then move to the next if it still does.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. When your phone is started in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. This makes it easier to check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps don’t fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Split Screen Keeps Activating

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge keeps flipping between what application I’m in and trying to split the screen even though I’ve never enabled that feature. In doing so it causes the phone to thump and it causes the battery to begin to overheat. I took it to the AT&T store and was told to try and Purge some data to free up space. I did this but it did not solve the problem. How do I stop this from happening?

Solution: You will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset for this type of problem. Once the reset is complete don’t install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs.  If it does then this could already be a hardware related problem in which case you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Constant Boot Loop

Problem: Hello, I am experiencing a constant Boot Loop with my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. I performed all the steps suggested on your website, including Performing a Master Reset, and still the issue persists. If you are able to provide an alternative solution to resolve the issue I would be most appreciative. Thank you, Adam

Solution: If the factory reset fails to fix this problem then one other thing you should consider is to manually flash the phone with its updated firmware file. Instructions on how to perform this procedure can be found at several of the popular Android forums online. If this still fails to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Not Switching On After Getting Wet

Problem: My samsung galaxy s6 edge fell inside a pool and when i try switching it on it appear and goes off but when someone tried calling me it comes but can’t pick up as the screen turns black sometimes it comes and go. When i charge it fully charged and try switching it on again it won’t even switch on again. Please kindly help me

Solution: Some water might have entered the phone causing some erratic performance to some of the internal components of the device. What you should do first in this case is to place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone. Once this is done try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Keeps On Rebooting

Problem: hello. i have samsung galaxy s6 edge. from the last couple of days, i am facing the problem of rebooting of the phone. I have done everything to cure it like master reset, wiping the cache memory out but still i am facing the same problem. i thought it might be the battery issue but when i connect to the charger still i am facing the same issue. kindly help me out. thank you

Solution: Since you already performed a factory reset which failed to fix the problem then chances are this could already be a hardware related problem. You should however consider flashing your phone with an updated firmware file to check if the problem is caused by the current software installation of your phone. Instructions on how to flash your device can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.

If flashing the phone fails to fix the problem then you should have this checked at a service center.

S6 Edge Pink Horizontal Line Appears In Screen

Problem: My phone has also an horizontal line appear I tried so many times to turn off..and turn it again but pink horizontal line still appearing..I was thinking that may be there will be a problem on my screen.. my screen is ok..only the pink horizontal line will bothered me and it so disgusting…. Will you please assist me on what to do with this problem….

Solution: Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If after the reset the pink line still appears then this could be caused by a damaged display assembly. If this is the case then I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

S6 Edge Not Able To Install Latest Software Updates

Problem: Hi, My phone (S6 EDGE – SM-G925F)  is not able to install the latest Android update. Version: G925FXXU4DPJG/G925FVFG4DPJG/G925FXXU4DPIT (size 157.52MB). It stucks on update process on 25%, hangs there for a moment and then restarts, saying that failed to update firmware. Last time it was updated was around September 2016. Since then I wasn’t able to install the software updates because of this problem. I appreciate any suggestions.

Solution: It’s possible that this could be caused by a glitch in the phone software. Try updating your phone using Kies. If the update still fails then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete perform the software update again.

S6 Edge Not Getting Software Update

Problem: Hi, I bought my samsung s6 edge (unlocked at&t) in the states, but live in Israel (using a local sim) I have not been able to update the software from 5.1 to current 6.1. When I check for software update, I get a reply that the phone is up to date (although it is running android 5.1. Baseband version: G925AUCU3BOJ7) How can I update the software?..

Solution: There are certain conditions that must be met by your phone before it can get the latest updates.

  • Your phone must not be rooted.
  • Your phone must be running on its official software.
  • If the phone has been unlocked then it should be running on its original network to be able to access the update servers.

Since this is originally an AT&T phone  and you are using it on a different network then this is the most likely reason why you are not getting the update.

Try updating the phone software using Kies. If the phone still doesn’t get the updates then you should consider manually flashing the updated firmware file to your phone.

S6 Edge Freezes And Reboots After Software Update

Problem: Hi Droid guys, Well this morning my S6 Edge receive an update from Samsung, I decide to install it and after that the phone starts working very bad, it freezes sometimes causing the system to reboot itself, then after several reboots, I decide to wipe the cache,, but the same issue continue, after that I went to the wipe data/ Factory reset and the issue continues. Then the phone decide not to turn on anymore. In this moment it is plugged into the charger but no led indicator nor screen turns on. What do you recommend before taking the phone to a technician? Thanks Guys

Solution: The first thing that you need to do for this particular issue is to make sure that the battery has some charge left because if it is drained then you won’t be able to do any troubleshooting. This is why you will need to charge the phone for at least 20 minutes by following the steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone making sure that any dirt or debris gets removed.
  • Try charging the phone using a different charging cord.
  • Try using a different wall charger.
  • Check if your phone can charge through a computer USB port.

If the phone does not turn on then this could either be caused by a faulty battery or a malfunctioning power IC. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

S6 Edge Turns Off Randomly After Getting Wet

Problem: Phone fell into toilet I let it to stay off had it in rice and it wouldn’t work less it was plugged into the charger it would say it was 100% and work but it would turn off, I decided to blow dry it, i saw water in the camera and that seemed to helped once I put it to charge it was at 30% and seemed to be charging fine but now it will turn on it will work fine but it still will turn off at random times is there anything I could do to fix it or should I just go get a new one?

Solution: It’s very likely that the water has affected some internal component of the phone resulting in this issue. If you have already placed your phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours to dry out the moisture inside the device then you should have this checked at a service center. Sometimes the issue could just be caused by a bad battery in which case it needs to be replaced. However, if it’s already a motherboard related problem then you should just consider getting a new phone.

S6 Edge Not Turning On After Getting Wet

Problem: i drop my phone on the toilet for maybe 3 seconds, it was like 11:47am when it fell inside and at 11:49am , I left it in a bowl but then I put it in a bag throughout the day I have tried 3 times to turn it on but it hasn’t . it is now 10:13pm I put it in Jasmine Rice , but would my Galaxy S6 edge dry even though I can’t take out the battery? and could there be a chance that when I wake up at 6am to school it will turn on ?please help thanks !

Solution: Rice is best known as an absorbent and when it is placed in a bag with your phone it will absorb the moisture that is present inside the phone. The problem right now is that your phone does not start which could indicate that some component got shorted out by the water. Try charging your phone for at least 20 minutes. Make sure to regularly touch your device if it heats up ( if it does then disconnect it from its charger). Try turning your phone on. If it doesn’t turn on then you need to have this checked at a service center.

S6 Edge Keeps On Rebooting

Problem: My sprint samsung galaxy s6 edge is rebooting every 1 min 8 secs….phone DOESN’T REBOOT in recovery/download mode. I have successfully flashed the stock firmware via odin…but no progress..now it reboots in the app optimizing screen every 1 min 8 secs…Do you know the possible solution of this problem..??

Solution: Try wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode then follow this up with a factory reset. If the issue still remains then this could be caused by a faulty internal component. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

S6 Edge Does Not Turn On

Problem: I own a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge for close to two years. Did not have any battery issue thus far. Last night after I made a call, I noticed the battery level 10%. I plugged the phone using its original Samsung charger over night. This morning the phone was off and would not start the normal way. I tried the pressing the on/off button, and pressed the volume buttons at the same time, no sign of turning ON. It seems that is ALL DEAD. Is there a fuse in the battery which could be blown? What to do, where to have it fixed?

Related Problem: Hi guys: When woke up this morning, my S6 Edge did not turn on. I leave it every night charging and when I picked it up today, it appear the 100% charged sign and then black. I’ve tried every typical thing (charging, recovery…) and no button combination makes anything work. There’s no ‘life’ sign (lights, logos…) and the computer doesn’t detect it. I don’t know if you could help me or give me some advice, because I don’t want to loose all my data. Thank you for your attention

Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to try to simulate a battery pull by pressing and holding both the power and volume down button for at least 10 seconds. Normally, the phone should restart after this. If it doesn’t then try charging the phone for at least 20 minutes. If you get no response then do the following steps.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air.
  • Try using a different charging cord.
  • Try using a different wall charger.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
