Today we will tackle the Galaxy S6 Edge bootloop after system update issue & other related problems. A software update is usually beneficial to a device since it introduces several improvements. In this case though the phone does not turn on properly. We will be addressing this issue as well as other related problems concerning this device that have been sent our way.

S6 Edge Bootloop After System Update

Problem: After last System update yesterday, the device is in a permanent power-up loop:

– power on logo

– screen “System update will be installed”

– up to 25%

– reboot

Pressing power down or power down+volume-up has no effect

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to simulate a battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If the issue persists then proceed with the following steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode then perform a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

S6 Edge Not Turning On

Problem: Just got this S6 edge. Powered on fine and was charging fine. Week later, fell asleep when it was at 20%. Woke up and it was off. I plugged it into the charger, and nothing. I’ve tried holding down the power and volume keys, tried numerous usb cables and chargers and even tried the computer. Nothing is getting any responses. Only thing I haven’t tried is a wireless charger. Any other thoughts other than sending it in?

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to make sure that the battery of the phone has sufficient charge by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port.
  • Try charging the phone for at least 20 minutes.
  • If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port. If the phone charges this way then one of the pins of the charging port might be damaged. Have this checked at a service center.
  • Try charging the phone using a wireless charger. If the phone charges this way then the charging port of the phone might be damaged. Have this checked at a service center.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Keeps Crashing

Problem: my s6 edge keeps crashing from time to time, gets stuck in a bootloop. when in boot loop gets really hot. only using 31/64 gb. I’ve cleared the cache and updated to the latest software update but my guts says it’s more phone related than software related. tempted to do a factory reset but I will lose a lot of passwords and unrecoverable data so it’s a last resort option. Any ideas?

Solution: Try wiping the cache partition of your phone first from the recovery mode. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you should consider doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then it’s very likely that this is already caused by an internal component that is failing to work. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Back Cover Is Separating

Problem: Hello! Several months ago I dropped my phone in toilet for just a sec but it did its damage! Screen touch stop working. So i sent it in to get water damage cleaned out and that seemed to work. Months later the phone’s backing started to separate from device, and I don’t know if it’s from them not sealing in the backing correctly or maybe from a drop. Either way, phone started to shut off on me or freeze and then not hold a charge at all. All of the left side of phone is exposed and now screen flickers on and off. I moved away from where I first took it in to and I don’t have anyone locally that can fix and I don’t even know what its deal really is LOL. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!

Solution: It’s very likely that the battery of your phone is bloating. This could be caused by the water damage that the phone suffered from. This is a potentially dangerous issue since the battery might explode. The best way to proceed right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked. You might need to have the battery replaced.

S6 Edge Rebooting Freezing After Software Update

Problem: I recently did a samsung update ( 09 October 2017 ) on my S6 Edge and since then have had numerous issues. 1. Blue light while wireless charging which prevents me from powering up my phone and I then have to wait for the phone die and then recharge for i can power up the phone again. 2. The goes into rebooting continuously and I barely get a chance to power it down between the rebooting. 3. I was in my gallery and selected a picture that i wanted to zoom in on and the phone froze. It even prevented me from powering down or resetting and once again I had to wait for the battery to die before being able to even recharge it.

Solution: The best way to fix this problem is to perform a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this procedure will delete your phone data.

In case the issue persists then you should consider flashing the previous firmware version to your phone. You can get the firmware file from the Sammobile website. This is also where you can get the instructions on how to flash your phone.

S6 Edge Memo App Can’t Not Sharing Files

Problem: After a system update my Memo app cannot share files anymore…it always says “Android system has stopped” I’m using a Samsung s6 edge and I can’t remove the battery. Why do updates cause problems? I want my Memo to be able to share again

Solution: What you will want to do right now is to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will need to perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

S6 Edge Video Call Has No Sound

Problem: I have an issue with video calling. I can hear the other person but they can’t hear a thing from my side. I can use loud speaker on normal calls and I can use my Google assistant and record videos fine, it’s just when I video call. I’ve factory resetted my phone and not had any luck. Yet when I video call wearing headphones, it works fine. This has gone on for 3 months now.

Solution: If you have already performed a factory reset and the issue persists then this could be caused by a software bug. Try to update your phone software then check if the issue still occurs.

S6 Edge Not Installing Firmware Update

Problem: Hi, I have two issues with this SAMSUNG S6 Edge hope you can help me solve these issues:
1: When I place a call, I do not hear any ringing. I see a connecting message in the wailer & then I hear the person’s voice or voice mailbox.
2: The phone can download updates and install. After the system restarts itself, it always says : firmware installed failure.
Solution: You can hit two birds with one stone by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset. Once the reset is done proceed with updating your phone software. Once the update is done check if you can now hear the ringing when you place a call.
