S5 Keeps Powering Off

Problem: Phone keeps powering off and on nonstop, if I plug it into outlet it works fine. The minute I unplug it it powers off and on, it won’t even get to Samsung  logo before it starts to cut off and on nonstop. I tried safe mode same issue, tried taking battery out for 1 min, same problem went to settings and checked battery voltage not a issue.I did a factory reset phone worked normally for 5 minutes then started powering off and on. I am clueless at this point please help.

Solution: If the issue still occurs right after a factory reset has been made ( with no other apps installed yet) then the problem could be hardware related. Start the troubleshooting by replacing the phone battery. Since you mentioned that the phone works just fine when connected to its charger then the battery might not be providing the correct power to the phone. If the issue still remains after this then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked as this could be caused by an internal component that is failing.

S5 Won’t Turn On

Problem: Galaxy S5 won’t turn on or respond in any way. No lights, no reboots, nothing.  It just shut off in the middle of a youtube video and died.  I tried all of the recommendations – removing battering, chilling both in refrigerator, reset with the 3 buttons. My spouse has the same phone so I put his battery in -nothing. Then I put MY battery in the other phone and there was still 45% power. So it’s not the battery.  I simply get nothing at all from the phone. It is not under warranty, so I know that won’t help.  I hope you have some suggestions, because even trying safe mode as you suggested in your article did not work.

Solution: Try taking out the battery and microSD card ( if your phone has one installed) then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then check if the phone will turn on. If it won’t then the problem could already be hardware related. I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Won’t Turn On

Problem: my phone won’t turn on. I try to do the soft reset, the safe mode, the recovery mode, anything, it doesn’t work. The only time I do know that the phone is working is when I put the battery back in, it automatically turns on to the Logo screen (but then turns off after 2/3 seconds). It somehow turned on one time by a miracle, but I accidentally touched the lock button and it just automatically turned off. now it won’t turn on, but I feel like it is with the power button being stuck. is there a way to get it unstuck or do I have to take it to the repair center? would taking it to the repair center be more costly than just buying a new phone? I would really like to hear as soon as possible, please and thank you!

Solution: You might want to start with checking if the battery is causing this problem by replacing it first. Next, check if the battery is getting charged by following the steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using a straw. Your aim is to take out any dirt or debris that could be present in the port and is causing this problem.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger

If the problem still persists then this could be a hardware issue already which should be checked at a service center. Have them check what is causing the problem and inquire how much is it going to cost to fix it. If it costs a lot then you should just consider getting a new phone.

S5 Only Charges When  Plugged To Computer

Problem: My phone will only charge when plugged into my computer. When off and plugged into the wall, not only does it not charge, it vibrates every few seconds. I have tried alternate cords, outlets, batteries. I have done both a soft reset, and a factory reset. Nothing seems to fix it. Why would my phone charge (slowly) via a computer usb, but not via a wall charger / car charger / etc.?

Solution: Have you tried unchecking the USB debugging option under the developer options? You can get the developer options setting by tapping on the build number 7 times. The build number of your phone can be found at the About Device menu.

If the issue still persists then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service  center as this could already be a hardware issue. You might have to replace the charging assembly of the phone ( usually costs around $40).

S5 Refuses To Charge

Problem: My phone refuses to charge. When it is off, it’ll only give me the battery with a lightning bolt for a second and then I’ll get a battery with a caution sign. I have already put it in safe mode, I factory reset it a few (maybe 2) weeks ago. It doesn’t show the charging symbol (the lightning bolt over the battery) if I plug it up while it’s on. It charges incredibly slowly while off. Thank you, TDG. You are a saint (I’m not religious)

Solution: Listed below are the recommended troubleshooting steps that you need to do when the phone does not charge. Perform each of the step below then check if the issue still occurs. Move to the next step if the problem persists.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using a straw. What you want is to take out any dirt or debris that could be in this port and is causing this problem.
  • Use a different charging cord when charging the phone. This cord gets easily broken especially if it is constantly coiled or bent which might be the case right now.
  • Use a different wall charger.
  • Try using a new battery on your phone.

If the problem still occurs after performing the steps listed above then this might be caused by a component inside the phone that is failing. In this case I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center.

S5 Does Not Charge Anymore

Problem: Dear sir/madam, since last saturday my phone started having problems with the battery. It doesn’t charge anymore. When I put the phone in the charger, both charger or USB, it gains 1% but does not get any further. It continuously starts charging over and over again. Sometimes it shows an orange triangle with a “!” sign. Do you think it is the battery is dead or the connector in the device itself? Please help.

Related Problem: Hi. My phone was fine last night but woken up to it not charging. Plugged in it stays on with 1% battery but doesn’t charge and as soon as I unplug it it turns off. Not sure what’s happening.

Solution: Try replacing your phone battery then charge the phone using the new battery. If the phone still does not charge then clean the charging port using a can of compressed air. You should also try using a different charging cord when charging your phone.

If the issue persists then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. As soon as the reset is done do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related problem.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Won’t Turn On Issue & Other Related Problems

Once a smartphone crosses the two year mark expect it to show some issues which was not present when the device was new. Take for instance the #Samsung #Galaxy #S5. This phone model which was released in 2014 was once a flagship device that outperformed its contemporaries. S5 Won’t Turn On

Problem: Hi, I’m having trouble starting my phone. Earlier this evening, my battery had almost died so I plugged it into the charger, but my phone didn’t register the charger. The charger is not the problem, it charges my tablet just fine. I restarted my phone, then tried plugging it in again, but that didn’t work. I then turned it off again so I could take the battery out and put it in again. I then tried charging it while it was off (normally, a battery with a lightning bolt would appear that was partially green), but the screen stayed black.

I googled my issue and tried to move the little panel inside the phone charging port upward with a toothpick, but I don’t think I actually moved it. After that, though, it wouldn’t turn on. I tried plugging the charger in and it showed me this symbol: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/EU7cJWaqmQk/maxresdefault.jpg.It shows the same symbol when I press the power button to start it up.

I don’t think it’s charging because normally the battery symbol would be partially green at the bottom to indicate how much charge it has. Any help would be appreciated

Solution: The phone battery might be fully drained which is why it is acting this way.  Try leaving it connected to the wall charger for at least 20 minutes before attempting to turn it on. If the problem still occurs then try to follow the troubleshooting steps listed below. Move to the next step should the current step you perform fail to fix the problem.

  • Clean the charger port of your phone. Sometimes dirt that’s stuck in this port can interfere with the charging process. To clean the port use a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol. Charge the phone for 20 minutes then try to turn it on.
  • Take out the battery. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert the battery then try to turn the phone on. If the phone still does not turn on then try connecting it to its wall charger for another 20 minutes before turning it on again.
  • Try using a new battery.

If the above steps fail to resolve the problem then this could be caused by a faulty hardware. If this is the case then I suggest you have your phone checked at an authorized service center.

S5 Triangle With Exclamation Mark On Screen

Problem: So my phone fell in the toilet and it was operating fine. After I dried it off as best as I could but I did not take the back cover off. But i put it in rice a couple hours later as a precaution. Like two or three hours later I took it out and decided to charge it, this was around 12 am. In the morning around 8 I woke up and the phone wasn’t charging and it was at 65 percent. Which although it was an increase from what it was last night, it should have been at a 100% So i turned  off the phone and plugged it in. A small triangle with a exclamation point came up. I came looking on this website and i realized some of these problems might relate to mine. Because some water seeped through the cover but I dried it, the power sharing notification also popped u. I tried putting the phone in safe mode, restarting it and turning it off multiple times. However the problem has not been solved.

Solution: The triangle with exclamation mark usually appears whenever something goes wrong on a device that has been rooted or running on a custom ROM. You will however get this symbol as well when some hardware issues occur. In this case, it appears that the problem is caused by water damage.

What you need to do first in this case is to make sure that the phone is totally dry. As we all know, electronic components easily gets damaged once electricity is running to it and it gets wet. You need to place it in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours to dry out the moisture inside the phone.

Once the moisture has been removed I also suggest that you try using a different battery on your phone. Try turning on your phone. If it does not turn on then I suggest you try to access the recovery mode of your device. If you can access this mode then there’s a possibility that the problem is software related. You should do a factory reset in this mode. Take note that your phone data will be deleted in the process so make sure to do this only if you have a backup copy of your phone data.

If you are unable to access the recovery mode then chances are the issue is caused by water damage. You need to have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.

S5 Not Charging With Power Bank

Problem: I have a Galaxy S5 that is over two years old and like very much, but recently getting half of the battery life as when new, about a half day.  I have removed nearly all of the non-original apps, but that didn’t help much.  I was going to buy a new battery, but most people seem dissatisfied with the replacements.  I do own a couple of external batteries with a reversible USB charging cable, but they do not charge my S5, even though they will charge my friends iPhone and Motorola.  I read your Troubleshooting Guide for Samsung S5 Charging Problems, but there was no mention of problems using a USB connected external battery in an otherwise working phone.  Do you have any idea why my S5 does not charger with an external USB battery?

Solution: There are various reasons why this is happening. First, the USB cord that you are using might be damaged. Try using another USB cord and see if this works. Make sure to clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol before charging it. Another possible reason is that the power bank is not providing the correct voltage output to charge the S5. Try using a different power bank in charging the phone and see if it works.

S5 Does Not Start Sometimes

Problem: So, I purchased a refurbished S5. I got a GREAT price on Woot.com and need to decide in the next few days if I am returning it. The only issue I’m having is one of the start-up issues. Sometimes I push the power button and the screen stays black though the buttons at the bottom still light blue. Things I’ve tried: Full factory reset, clearing cache. Taking out the battery always solve the problem but do I want to deal with that for the next couple of years until I get a new phone? The error still happens at least a couple of times a day. Is there any fix for this? Has marshmallow been released? Would you simply return it? (I paid $150). Thanks for your time!

Solution: Since you already performed a factory reset and the issue still occurs then this problem is most likely hardware related already. If the phone is still under warranty then you should consider returning it and replacing it with another one.

S5 Switches Off On Its Own

Problem: Lately when I use my Samsung s5, it switches off and then I can’t put it back on, unless I charge it.  Even if the battery was at 90% I have cleared the partition, cache, it happens in safe mode too.  I have also done a factory reset.  What I have noticed is, when I use the internet/wifi, it switches off however if I have both of them off, then it seems to work fine

Solution: I recommend you try using a new battery on your phone as the battery you are using might be causing this problem.
