Although this phone has an excellent display there are still instances when screen related issues can occur which we will be addressing today. S5 Screen Won’t Turn On

Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy 5 and the screen wont come on. Sometimes it does and then when I press the home button it won’t come on or even when I press the power button. Both bottom buttons light up and I can hear the phone working its just the screen. I have done a factory reset but nothing changed. Thanks

Solution: If a factory reset doesn’t fix this issue then it’s very likely that this is a hardware related problem. The possible causes are as follows.

  • The screen could be damaged.
  • The connection between the screen and the phone’s motherboard has become loose.

For this type of issue I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Screen Needs To Be Heated To Turn On

Problem: My Son’s Samsung galaxy S5 screen started having trouble after he wiping some chocolate front the power button side of the mobile. After a week the screen had to be heated up, by hand or some heat source (hair dryer etc.) and then the screen would comes on until it went to sleep again. Where it would sometime comes on using the power button and sometimes the heat would have to be repeated. Have you come up against anything like this, for it’s a bit of pain in the rear end? Any advice or questions would be appreciated.  Thks.

Solution: It’s very likely that the problem hardware related possibly due to the chocolate entering the phone. The phone has to be opened and inspected at a service center to get to know what component is failing.

S5 Flashing Screen On Low Light

Problem: Hi, I have had a Samsung S5 for a little over a year with no problems until recently. I’ve read troubleshooting guides and have had short-lived success in rectifying the green/yellow flicker when the unlock screen pops up. Wiping the cache in recovery mode solves the problem but after using chrome it seems to start up again. I updated Chrome in the play store, in hopes this would somehow help and now I’m experiencing a flashing screen on low-light display (when battery is less than 5%) also. Chrome might be a red-herring here but it’s the only app I use before the issue starts again. Any recommendations on solving this issue would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Solution: Try checking if the issue occurs at less than 5% battery level when the charger is connected to the phone. If it doesn’t occur then the issue could be caused by the battery not being able to supply a stable power to the display making it flash. You can try increasing the brightness level or replace the battery to fix this issue.

If the problem occurs even with a charger connected to the phone then do the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Try to check first if a third party app installed in your phone is causing the problem. Start the phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by a third party app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Check if the issue still occurs.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then have your phone checked at a service center as this might be a hardware related issue.

S5 Stuck In Black Screen

Problem: my phone is stuck on a black screen, I have tried multiple times to reset my phone. The battery is charged and all the sounds and lights work. The display just remains black the whole time. This has happened before but would return to normal after a few hours, but this time it has been stuck black for 24 hours.

Solution: It’s either the display is damaged or the connection between the display and the phone’s motherboard is loose. To troubleshoot this problem try starting the phone in recovery mode. If the screen works in this mode then you should do a factory reset from here. Take note that this will delete your phone data. If the screen doesn’t work in this mode then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Screen Flickers Then Goes Black

Problem: I charge my phone overnight with the factory supplied charger. When I go to use my phone in the morning, all of the functions work (notifications, lights, alarm, etc.) But my screen flickers briefly then goes to black. It does this anytime I hit the lock or home button. It usually does this until the power is drained to 95% or less. After that, it works perfect the rest of the day. Suggestions?

Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to verify if the phone software is causing this issue. To do this you should backup your phone software then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install anything in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs.

If it does then the problem could be caused by a defective display. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

S5 Screen Flashes Darkly Then Shuts Off

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy S5 flashes darkly for an instant when it shuts off. The screen was flashing when in low light but I fixed that by adjusting brightness. Now the issue is when I press power the screen flickers uncomfortably and I can see like a posterized (reverse image) of my screen darkly. Then it is black. And with repeated presses of the power button, the phone will light up normally. The problem is intermittent and just manifested itself today and after I adjusted the brightness setting to correct the low light flickering. I have powered down twice. I have not done a factory reset.

Solution: Try checking first if an app installed in your phone is causing the problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. Check if the issue occurs. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is then uninstall it. If the problem occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest that you do a factory reset. This will erase your phone data so make sure to make a backup copy first.

S5 Screen Is Rolling Up

Problem: Hi i have a Samsung S5 active screen is only scrolling up like it’s crazy cant use phone we reset phone to factory settings but same problem any advice on it to resolve this problem

Solution: It’s possible that the display is damaged and needs to be replaced. For this issue I recommend that you bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Screen Has Turqouise Line

Problem: When I turn on the device a turquoise line shows up on the left hand side of the screen and this stays on the screen throughout my phone being switched on. It even shows up when the device is about to fully power off.

Solution: Try checking if the same line appears when your phone is started in recovery mode. If it isn’t showing in recovery mode then this might be caused by a software glitch. Try doing a factory reset to fix this issue. Take note that you should backup your phone data before doing the reset. If the issue occurs even in recovery mode then it’s possible that the display is damaged. I suggest that you have this checked at a service center.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Not Charging When Plugged In Issue & Other Related Problems

For a phone that’s already a two year old model the #Samsung #galaxy #S5 is aging quite well. It’s still being widely used today as its hardware is still capable of handling even the most demanding apps. It’s software has also been updated to Marshmallow which gives it an edge over other older generation devices that have not been getting the latest update. While this phone is definitely a solid choice there are instances when issues can occur. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will take a look at the Galaxy S5 not charging when plugged in issue & other related problems.

S5 Not Charging When Plugged In

Problem: My phone isn’t charging. When I plug it in, a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark shows up in the battery icon. Yesterday I had it in my back pocket when it started raining on us which may have something to do with it. Last night I just had to blow in it and mess around to get it to charge but then it fell in between the wall and my bed and I haven’t been able to get it charging since then. My aunt has the same phone so I switched our batteries and used multiple different charging cables and concluded that her battery does not work in my phone, but my battery will charge in hers. The different charging cables had no effect and didn’t help my phone charge in any way.

Solution: It looks like the water might have affected the charging capability of your device. Since your battery works just fine in another device and you have already tried using multiple chargers and charging cords then the best thing to do right now is to make sure that there is no moisture inside your phone. Open the back cover of your phone and take out the battery. Place your phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. Another option is to place the device in a bag with silica gel packs. Once the phone is dry reinsert the battery then try to charge the device. If it still doesn’t charge you will need to check if the phone software is causing this problem by doing a factory reset. Take note that you need to backup your phone data before doing this.

If the above steps fail to fix the issue then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this might already be a hardware related problem.

S5 Not Charging

Problem: Out of the blue my phone won’t take charge. A triangle pops up with an exclamation mark. I’ve taken out the battery and tried different chargers. The battery will charge in others phones. Ice cleaned out the ports.. I dk what else to do?! Help.

Solution: It’s possible that either the charging port or the charging circuit inside the phone has been damaged. Just to make sure that the software isn’t causing this issue backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If the issue still occurs then I suggest you bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Screen Won’t Turn On

Problem: I’ve been having issues with my galaxy S5 for a week or 2 now. I’ve noticed since returning home and the weather being so cold that my phones screen won’t light up, the lcd buttons do, the notification light flashes and the phone vibrates when I get a message but the screen itself won’t light up unless I’ve had it against my skin keeping it warm. It’s not horribly cold here but I have noticed this happens less when visiting friends in slightly warmer places. I’ve also been noticing that at night when I have my screens display dimmed, other then the no screen showing issue. If I’ve had the screen on and lock it, it will flash green then not show till I hit the power button then the home screen button. If I out the screens brightness back up it stops having this issue. The phone is well loved and been dropped once or twice but it’s never had issues till it got cold where I live

Solution: What you can do is to check if some form of software glitch is causing this issue. Start the troubleshooting by wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This will erase the temporary system files of the phone which if corrupted can cause this type of problem. Restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs.

Another thing to check is if an app you downloaded is causing this problem. To check if this is the case just start your phone in Safe mode then observe if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

One last troubleshooting that you can do is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this. Once the reset is complete do not install anything in your phone yet but instead check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then this could be a hardware related problem already. I recommend that you have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.

S5 Not Charging Not Turning On

Problem: My phone was working fine until once, it showed Droid image and some encrypted message, followed by ‘Factory Resetting’ message (if I remember correctly). I panicked and immediately removed the battery and rebooted the phone. It was functioning fine after that except it wouldn’t charge at all. Now, it has completely run out of juice and won’t turn on. I tried few different chargers but nothing seems to work. I doubt it’s the battery because it lasted long with much talk time, browsing, etc. Kindly assist. Thank you.

Solution: Try cleaning the charging port of your phone first using a can of compressed air or by blowing to it using a straw. Your aim is to take out any dirt or debris that could be present in this port and is causing this charging issue. Once the port has been cleaned take out the battery and microSD card (if the phone has one) then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out uts RAM. Reinsert just the battery then connect the phone to a charger and let it charge for at least 20 minutes. If the phone does not charge or turn on then try using a different charging cord and wall charger.

If you are still not getting any response from your phone then you should try getting a new battery and see if this helps. If it doesn’t then I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related problem.

S5 Keeps Showing Charging Symbol

Problem: Hi.. My S5 keeps showing the charging symbol every now and then as if it’s connected to the charger, it’s so strange because it seems am charging it while is total not plugged to the charger. this problem continued till the battery got drained. Any help that you can assist with. Thank you.

Solution: It looks like something is wrong with the charging port or charging circuit of the phone. To troubleshoot this problem try cleaning the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air or by blowing into it using straw. You will want to remove any dirt or debris that could be present in this port. Check if the issue still occurs. If it does then one last troubleshooting step that you can do is to check if a glitch in the phone software is causing this problem. Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If after the reset the problem still occurs then I recommend that you have your phone checked at a service center.

S5 Does Not Boot

Problem: I have an S5. That in the middle of night while on charge lit up to the 3 screen. And just sat there. One side of the phone was hot. Soft resets didn’t work and even after reluctantly doing a hard reset and losing all the photos etc it still will not boot past the 3 screen. Nothing I do will sort it. It has not been tampered with or modified in any way. I cannot start it in safe mode either as it won’t go past the 3 screen. Please help

Solution: Try the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Connect your phone to its charger then see if it boots normally. If it does then then try replacing the battery as this might be causing the issue.
  • Take out the battery and microSD card ( if your phone has one) then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinser just the battery then check if the phone turns on.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset.

If the issue persists even after following the steps listed above then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Screen Won’t Turn On Issue & Other Related Problems

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S5 is one of the mobile devices available in the market that uses an impressive display. This phone sports a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. While this isn’t the highest resolution on a phone it’s still quite good considering that this model was released in 2014. Just like any other smartphone model this device is not immune to screen related problems. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will take a look at the Galaxy S5 screen won’t turn on issue & other related problems.

S5 Screen Won’t Turn On

Problem: My screen wont turn on i try to change the battery  leave it off try to hard boot it and restart but when i turn it on it buzzes and the blue light turns on for my samsung  s5 and the notification goes off but i can not see anything

Solution: If your phone is getting notifications but you can’t see anything on the screen then the problem could be caused by a faulty display. Try starting your phone in recovery mode and check if the display works in this mode. If it works then there’s a chance the problem is caused by a software glitch. I recommend that you do a factory reset in this mode. Take note though that your phone data will be deleted in this process.

If the display does not work even in recovery mode then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 No Display After phone Dropped

Problem: I was using my phone while seated and it was connected to my headset.  the person I was talking to was struggling to hear so I disconnected the headset but then I dropped the phone onto a carpeted floor from the seated position I was in. when I picked up the phone I could not see anything on the screen but as I was still connected to my caller I though nothing much of it . but once I hung up . the problem persisted. I have taken the battery out , waited and inserted the battery without the sd card in place. but no change. Can you help me please?

Problem: Have you tried starting the phone in recovery mode? If the display works in this mode then I suggest you perform a factory reset to eliminate any software glitches that could be causing this problem.

If the screen is still black in recovery mode then I suggest you have this checked at a service center as the display might have been damaged when the phone was dropped.

S5 Screen Flickers When Photos Are Saved

Problem: I can do a master reset on the S5 and it comes up perfect. After I put a couple of photos on the phone, the screen flickers and it is hard to turn on. Have read about all the display issues. This ONLY starts when a pic is either taken from the phone, or one loaded onto it. Any ideas? Perfect after a reset, then goes downhill from there. Used it for weeks with no sim after a reset and it was perfect. Put in sim, it worked fine. Once photos came up it mucks up. Any help appreciated.

Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed and are the photos stored in the microSD card? If you have a card then try removing it from your phone then check if the issue still occurs. Sometimes if this card is corrupt it could cause certain issues on the phone.

If your phone does not have a card installed then there might be other factors causing this issue. Since you already performed a factory reset then it’s safe to eliminate any software problems causing this issue. I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked since the issue might be caused by a problem with the internal storage space of your device.

S5 Screen Is Unresponsive

Problem: Ever since my phone rebooted after the update reset the touch screen has been mostly unresponsive. Occasionally it will work out and be fine but other times it is a nightmare even trying to type. In addition it is now doing a weird thing where it will drop down the top right menu on every single page. The three dot button in the apps menus, the three dot menu in Google, and at the home screen it will zoom out to a view of all the pages such as when you try to get a bird’s eye view of your page. It is almost like there is constantly something clicking on that top right corner. It is very weird and a nightmare to try to work with. It opens these windows every few seconds and my back button will illuminate then unilluminate and that is when it will do it.

Solution: If this problem occured right after the software update then it’s possible that it is caused by some old software data that has been left behind during the software update. I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset to fix this issue. Once the reset is done do not install anything in your phone yet. Try checking first if the issue still occurs. If it does then this is caused by a component in your device that is failing. I recommend you bring your phone to a service center if this is the case.

S5 Black Screen After Phone Fell

Problem: Hi so my phone fell out of my pocket and a go kart ran it over.  It was the first time I ever dropped my phone it is a couple weeks old. So now my phones damage is not to bad. 1. The top of phone where I would listen to hear you talking there is a tiny break but not bad. 2. On the bottom left not on the screen basically around the edges has a tiny break. But the problem is now I have an all black screen. A week ago it was the bottom half was all black and top half was flickering. I could see a tiny bit when it flickered and I luckily hit a button to call someone and it worked. But the screen was still the same. All black now. My phone was perfect before the go kart incident.  Some help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Solution: The best way to fix this issue is to have the display replaced since it is already damaged. Once this is replaced the screen will be working again. I recommend you bring your device to a service center and have them replace your display.

S5 Screen Not Responding

Problem: I’ve had my S5 for over a year and never had any issues. One day it started ghost jumping and was so bad that I couldn’t even get into my phone using my swipe code. I would take the battery out and it would be better for just long enough to put in my lock code and eventually I just took the code off. In addition to the ghost jumping the top portion of my screen quit responding to touch at all. The screen did this for 2 days and then just quit responding to touch completely…the haptic feedback still works, the back button and the recent apps button work, and the screen rotation work on the lock screen but even after a factory reset the screen doesn’t respond to touch. All of the connectors are in place and the display is amazing, it is just unresponsive to touch on the actual screen. I’ve tried everything and I’m really hoping I don’t need a new LCD…

Solution: Does your phone have a screen protector installed? Do you have the case placed inside a case? Try removing the screen protector and the case then check if the issue still occurs. If your phone doesn’t have a case or screen protector and the problem still occurs then there’s a chance it is caused by a faulty digitizer. Since a factory reset was already done I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Screen Shuts Off But Phone Boots

Problem: Few months back I dropped my phone and it damaged the display and the color bleed out. Recently got a replacement digitizer and screen and switched them out. Now when I turn it on it displays the samsung galaxy s5 for about a second before the screen shuts off, but the phone continues to boot. Tried different button combinations and the only one that keeps the screen on is the home volume down and power button. does same thing when connecting a charger to it when it is powered off. The replacement screen was not new, it is used, however i have been able to get it to stay on a couple times and it seems to have no problem until it shuts off.

Solution: It’s likely that the problem is caused by the replacement display. Try backing up your phone data then do a factory reset. If after the reset the issue still occurs then you need to replace the phone display. Make sure to get the correct display for your particular phone model.
