The #Samsung #Galaxy #S5 is best known for its amazing display properties. The phone uses a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. S5 Screen Flickers Most Of The Time

Problem: i installed an software update after being prompted to do so and ever since then the home screen just flickers and most of the time will not come on at all , i have to press the power key and home key to get it to come on , i took it to vodafone and they sent it away but they came back saying i must have dropped it even though all they did was a visual check on it ,if they had given me a breakdown on what really is wrong then it may have been more believable what they are telling even though i have not dropped it  i am at my wits end now and do not know what to do

kind regards

Solution:  Since you mentioned that the problem occured right after a software update then you should first check if the update is really causing the problem. Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done do not install anything in your phone just yet. Instead, check first if the issue still occurs.

If the phone still flickers then there’s a possibility that the problem is already hardware related since you also mentioned that you need to press the power and home key to get it to come on. If this is the case you need to have the phone checked at a service center. The problem could just be caused by a loose connection between the display and the phone’s board.

S5 Screen Display Breaks Up

Problem: About a week ago the screen display on my phone started to break up. It looks like how a movie will break up. I will be reading on it and at the top it will show my tool bar coming down and it will have that same display overlapping each other. When this happens the phone will freeze for a few seconds. but it is doing it now to the point that when i try to type something on it the page breaks up and there will be three keyboards overlapping each other and moving around so i can’t write anything. The phone has not been dropped or had any new apps put on it. I  have already tried a factory reset, and smart start but nothing has worked.

Solution: Does the issue occur right after a factory reset when no other apps are installed yet? If it does then the problem could already be hardware related in which case you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

If the issue does not occur right after a factory reset then the problem could be caused by an app you installed. To check if this is the case you should start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps of your device are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it’s most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

S5 Screen Flicker

Problem: I have the dreaded screen flicker with the galaxy s5.  I’ve tried all the things we owners have speculated on and hoped would work:  wiping the cache, removing the SD card.  Last night I did a factory reset.  I’ve had it for three months, and have never dropped it or gotten it wet.  After a month of having the phone, the screen flicker started.  I feel like I’ve ruled out any possible software issue, and it must then be hardware related.  I’ve talked to a Samsung rep, who was very nice but not especially helpful.  Of course, what’s he to do from over live chat?  I’m considering asking them how much to replace the screen, since (again) I feel software has been ruled out. Also, I want to know from Samsung whether the part / labor will be warrantied. Are you getting the same sort of feedback from other readers?

Solution:  If you have already ruled out any possible software problems that could cause this issue then this is most a hardware related problem already possibly due to a damaged display. The warranty of your phone depends on where you bought it and what is covered. If this is a new phone bought from an authorized seller then you could still use its warranty.

S5 Screen Not Working After Phone Dropped

Problem: I dropped my phone and now the screen won’t work (no cracks in the screen- it just won’t work). I am still receiving calls and can hear myself receiving text messages. When I power my device on the screen sometimes appears green/yellow, but then it goes to black. I took it to a repair shop and the guy said he could fix it for $220, but my contact renews in October and I don’t want to drop that cash unless it’s absolutely necessary. Is there a cheaper fix?

Solution: If the display has been damaged by the drop then you will have no choice but to replace it. You can however check if the phone software is causing this issue by starting the device in recovery mode. If you are able to access this mode then I suggest you do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding. If you are unable to access the recovery mode then you really have to get the phone fixed at a service center.

S5 Screen Goes Blank After Charging

Problem: hi have issue with screen going blank after charging when i unplug adaptor .Only stays blank for about 40 seconds then comes back to life on it’s own.

Solution: It’s possible that this issue is caused by some form of corrupt temporary data. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone first from the recovery mode. If the issue still occurs then proceed with backing up your phone data and doing a factory reset.

S5 Screen Has Green Vertical Lines

Problem: I started with one green vertical line on the left side of the screen then they became 2 and then the third line added but now very close to the second line

Solution: The best way to deal with this issue is to backup your phone data and do a factory reset. If the issue still occurs after the reset then the problem could already be caused by a faulty display. I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.

S5 Can’t Go To Home Screen Unless Battery Removed

Problem: Greetings – I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 that  has begun giving me trouble. The only way that I can get to the home screen, is to remove the battery and reboot.  From the home screen, I have very little functionality. I was able to get to the safe screen and wanted to perform a factory reset however do not know if that occurred.

Solution: Before doing any troubleshooting I suggest you backup your phone data. Once you have made a backup of your phone data start the device in recovery mode then do the factory reset from this mode. Once the reset is complete check if the issue still occurs.
