S5 Screen Pixelated And Unresponsive

Problem: My S5 frequently gets blocked showing a whitish, pixelated screen (https://www.dropbox.com/s/u8jmi20s9lt7awy/FotoScreenS5.jpg?dl=0) and it becomes completely unresponsive. Sometimes it reboots on its own after a few seconds/minutes. Other times, I have to remove the battery in order to shut it down and then turn it on again. This began a few months ago, but it only happened very occasionally. Then, for at least a month it did not happen again and I thought some system update had solved the problem. However, recently this issue returned and it has been getting worse. Now it happens several times a day. Have you heard of a similar problem? Do you think a hard reset could solve this, or is it more likely a hardware problem?

Solution: It’s possible that some software glitch is causing this problem. If this is the case then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If after the reset the issue still occurs then this could already be a hardware related problem possibly caused by the following factors.

  • A loose connection between the display and the phone motherboard.
  • A faulty display IC
  • A faulty display assembly.

For hardware related issues you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Black Smudge On Screen

Problem: My Galaxy S5 screen has suddenly gotten a black smudge/like appearance in the middle and the whole screen has a slight yellow tint. It hasn’t come in contact with any water and hasn’t gotten dropped or sat on. The smudge isn’t a specific shape, but it always is the same shape. The weird thing is that if I press on the top right back of the phone, it goes away as long as I’m applying pressure to that area. Once I let go, it either goes right back to having the black smudge and yellowish tint, or it will be normal again for a few minutes then go back to the black smudge and yellowish tint.

Solution: The reason behind this black smudge is that the display is broken internally possibly because of too much pressure applied in the specific spot. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have the display assembly replaced.

S5 Screen Keeps Flickering

Problem: For about a month or so, I have noticed that my screen has been flickering.  At first, I thought the battery was failing and I replaced it, but the condition continued.  I have tried soft reboots, removed extraneous Apps, and disabled other AT&T or Galaxy Apps that I’m not directly using.  As in some of the other on-line comments that I have seen from other users, the condition varies at the times it will occur – sometimes when I first turn on my smartphone and for a little while thereafter; sometimes when the battery seems to be low; and other times when there seems to be low light conditions. When it flickers, the screen is not as sharp, crisp, or clear and there appears to be a yellowish hue taking over the color saturation.  One of the reasons that I got the Samsung Galaxy S5 was because of the AMOLED screen and up until the time that this flickering condition began, I was very pleased with the quality of the screen output.

Solution: Try turning off the auto brightness setting of your phone as this will usually contribute to the flickering of the screen especially when the phone tries to adjust the screen brightness. Check if the issue still occurs. If it does then the next step is to verify if the problem is caused by a third party app. Start the phone in Safe Mode and check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the problem still occurs even in Safe Mode then your last option is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Should this fail to fix the problem then we might already be looking at a hardware issue. You will then need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

S5 Crosshair On Screen

Problem: Perfectly aligned cross hair on screen. The vertical line of the cross hair is red in hue and the horizontal line is black in hue. The lines are static, not moving. Does not seem to be the Touch Point function. Turned that function on and off to check. The horizontal black line does not go across entire width of screen, edge to edge. The red hued, vertical line, does reach edge to edge, top to bottom. As stated, this is static, on the screen despite which app is used or getting on the internet or viewing a previously taken photo, etc.

Solution: This issue is usually caused by enabling the pointer location under developer options. To fix this problem follow the steps listed below.

  • Go to Settings.
  • Access Developers Option.
  • Remove the check in the box next to Pointer Location.

If you don’t see the developer options under your phone settings then follow the steps listed below to enable it.

  • Go to the settings menu on your phone.
  • Scroll down to the “System section and tap “About Device.”
  • Scroll down to “Build number.”
  • Tap the “Build number” section seven times. The developer options will then be unlocked
  • Go back to the main settings menu, and you’ll see “Developer options” listed.

S5 Screen Unresponsive To Touch

Problem: Samsung S5 model G900A  android version 6.0.1, android security patch January 1, 2017 Problem, bottom 1″ of screen is not responsive on touch screen Started after the update January 3, 2017 Things I have tried, wipe cache (multiple times), soft reset (remove battery/wait over 10 seconds/remove sim card)(multiple times), hard reset (1 time) none have corrected the issue. after hard reset, I am unable to complete app set up for a large number of apps, since their screen will not rotate, so I can choose/click yes/ok/etc to complete setup.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Solution: It looks like the digitizer has been damaged in that part of the phone screen. If the issue still occurs even after a factory reset then you will have to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Screen Replicates Itself

Problem: When I use my phone for a while it starts to glitch a lot especially when I type/text. What I mean by glitch is that the screen seems to replicate itself somewhere else on the screen so I have sometimes 3/4 keypads glitching on and off the screen. However these screens are not usable so if I tap on the screen it still thinks I’m using the original screen.

Solution: This issue could be caused by a glitch in the phone software. Try to check if the same issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then you will have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S5 Screen Is Black

Problem: My wife’s galaxy s5 screen is black I can hear it boot up and be responsive but nothing shows on the screen no Samsung boot or anything. I tried the basic trouble shooting but I can’t even get safe mode to start.

Solution: Try starting the phone in recovery mode. If you can access this mode and the screen works in this mode then the problem could be caused by a software glitch. You will need to do a factory reset from here. Take note that this will erase your phone data. If the screen is still black even in recovery mode or if you are unable to access the recovery mode then it’s very likely that the display of the phone is damaged. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Screen Has Horizontal Lines Issue & Other Related Problems

When the #Samsung #Galaxy #S5 was released in 2014 it had one of the best displays on a smartphone available then in the market. This devices uses a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Today, the phone display is still quite good even when compared to some of the latest smartphone releases. There are however instances when screen related issues can occur on this phone. This is what we will be concentrating on today as we tackle the Galaxy S5 screen has horizontal lines issue & other related problems.

We will be more than happy to assist you with any concern that you may have with your device. This is a free service we are offering with no strings attached. S5 Screen Has Horizontal Lines

Problem: My screen has a series of horizontal running lines. It has 3 thin green lines, a thicker green line and a purple line all next to each other on the left side of my screen. Each line has appeared separately over time. Has not gone away and i have done the pixel fix 60 minute test on it and still has not resolved my problem. Phone works fine otherwise.

Solution: Try starting your phone in Safe Mode and check if the same issue occurs. When the phone is operating in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the same issue occurs in Safe Mode then I suggest you try to do a factory reset. This will restore your phone back to its original condition. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete do not install anything in your phone yet. Check first if the issue still occurs.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the problem then you should have your phone checked at a service center as the problem could be caused by a damaged display.

S5 Greenish LIght Flickering

Problem: good day. i don’t have any problems with my phone’s performance as of now but one thing i have noticed is when i lock the screen, a greenish light appears on half of the screen before it totally locks. it is also like this whenever i dim my screen at the lowest level. the greenish light flickers. as mentioned i don’t have any issues with the performance and battery but this just disturbs me.. and i’m wondering if there is something wrong with my phone.. i have dropped it around 2 to 3 times i think.. i hope you can help me 🙂 thank you..

Solution: You should check first if the issue is software related by following the troubleshooting steps listed below. Check if the issue still occurs after following each step then move to the next step if the issue still occurs.

  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. While the phone is operating in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are prevented from running. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fail to resolve the issue then the problem is most likely hardware related possibly caused by the display itself. Since this is just a minor issue that doesn’t affect the phone’s usability and performance then you can just ignore it. However, if you would like this issue to go away then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Black Screen

Problem: Hi, Im a owner of the Samsung galaxy s5. Yesterday my boyfriend had my phone. It was working all day and he put it on the bed. and when he came back from the store he picked it up and the screen was all black. but the phone still works you can hear the message ringtone and the message blue light in the top left corner comes on but you can’t see nothing. We think it might be from the heat because it was really hot yesterday and he had gone to work and the phone was in his pocket and it’s hot in the warehouse. and my phone already had a crack on the screen from couple months ago. and when we locked at the phone we seen all these extra cracks we haven’t seen before and we haven’t dropped it at all lately and the cracks that we just discovered are from the inside. but idk if it may of been bc of the heat.

Solution: A combination of the heat and the crack on the display might be causing the screen to black out. Since you are still getting notification sounds then it’s very likely that the issue is caused by a damaged display. Try starting your phone in recovery mode. If the display works in this mode then I suggest you do a factory reset from here. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy first. If you can’t see anything on the screen when in recovery mode then the chances of the display being damaged is high. I suggest you bring the phone to a service center and have it checked. You may need to have the display replaced.

S5 Screen Keeps Flickering

Problem: the screens works most of the time and while it starts flickering over at the end of the screen without any reason. i have tried hard resetting and everything that is listed on the website but i was told by one of the technicians that there was some kind of problem with octa core or sth. Please can you help me out. Thanks

Solution: Try turning off the auto brightness feature of your phone then manually set the brightness level to its maximum setting. Check if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then the issue could be caused by the sensor that’s constantly adjusting the screen brightness level. I suggest you disable the auto brightness feature if this is the case.

If the problem still occurs even with the auto brightness feature disabled then the problem could be caused by the phone display itself. You will need to have the phone checked at a service center if this is the case.

S5 Screen Goes Black

Problem: So i went swimming yesterday and took my phone with me like i always do. But this time water went in my camera so i opened the back and took my battery out. I found that there was water under my battery. So i dried it and used my phone normally. It was working fine. Then an hour later the screen went blank and sometime a faint yellow screen will appear for 2 seconds and then again go black. Although i can recieve calls, hear sounds and get vibrations and even unlock my phone. Please help me

Solution: It’s very likely that this issue is caused by water entering your device. I suggest you thoroughly dry the phone first by placing it in a bag or rice or silica gel. Make sure to take out the back cover, battery, SIM card, and microSD card when you do this. Leave the phone in the bag for 2-3 days. This will allow the moisture inside the phone to dry out.

Try to check if the same issue still occurs. If the same issue occurs then you should have your phone checked at a service center.

S5 Screen Will Not Turn On

Problem: Whenever i turn off my phone to leave it off then turn it back on after a bit, and press the start or the middle button, and it doesn’t turn on. Sometimes when i press the start button and try pressing around on the screen, i can actually hear the lock screen going but the screen still wouldn’t turn on.

Solution: This issue might be caused by a glitch in the phone software. Try to start your phone in recovery mode. If you are able to access this mode then wipe the cache partition of your phone first in this mode. This will delete the temporary data of your phone which could be causing the problem. If the issue persists then I suggest you do a factory reset from recovery mode. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding.

If the above steps fail to resolve the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S5 Recent Button Activates On Its Own

Problem: My Samsung galaxy s5 fell on the floor and there was little damage done to the screen.  Ever since then, the screen has been pressing the recent screen button by itself.  It kinda gets worse when I have a slow Internet connection.

Solution: The drop might have damaged the portion where the recent button is located. If doing a factory reset does not resolve this issue ( make sure to backup your phone data before doing this) then you should have your phone checked at a service center.

S5 Screen Delay After Marshmallow Update

Problem: After the latest Android version update (6.0.1 Marshmallow) I noticed that when I press the main button on the front of the phone the screen illuminates slowly rather than instantaneously as it did before the update.  Is this the result of the update or is there a setting I can change to have it illuminate faster?  Thanks.

Solution: The lag you are experiencing is most likely caused by the update. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone first from the recovery mode then check if the problem still occurs. If it does then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S5 Green Vertical Lines

Problem: I started with one green vertical line on the left side of the screen then they became 2 and then the third line added but now very close to the second line

Solution: Try checking if an app installed in your phone is causing this problem by starting the device in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what ap this is and uninstall it. If the issue occurs even in Safe Mode then proceed with a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked. It’s possible that the display of your phone has been damaged.
