S5 Unable To Connect To Available Wi-Fi

Problem: Ever since last system update 6.1.0 my samsung galaxy s5 only connects to my home network. When going to places like Publix, Mcdonalds, etc I am unable to connect to the available wifi. I get a message that site is unavailable with whatever site I try  to log on. I usually try Facebook, and receive facebook is unavailable, or yahoo, etc. Reps I’ve spoken with they never heard of this issue and are no help. Have been trying for weeks to resolve. I primarily travel a lot and use my phone to surf check email, etc. Hope you can help.

Solution: Have you tried forgetting the other Wi-Fi networks form our phone then connecting to it again? If you already did this but the problem still remains then this could be caused by some form of old software data that has not been completely removed from your phone. If this is the case then do the following steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This will delete the temporary system data in your device. Restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S5 Not Able To Use Mobile Data

Problem: Hello My device is Galaxy S5. My phone does connect to the Internet provider. It shows the 4g or h+ signal but internet does no work. When I switch to WiFi every thing works fine. What should I do to get it to work?

Solution: What you need to do first in this particular case is to check with your service provider if you have an active mobile data subscription. Once you have confirmed that you have mobile data credits then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

Related Problem: Hello, I am in Canada and on Saturday I just purchased the Samsung S5 neo.  Just upgraded from the S3. When I am on wifi I have no problems at all, but when I am on my data plan and I try and access certain pages, I get a black box at the bottom of my screen that says to try again later as it cannot connect and to check my internet settings. All looks fine to me and has the same settings as my S3

  • Turn off your phone and take out the SIM card. Reinsert the SIm then turn on the phone. This will re-establish the phone’s connection to the network. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Make sure that your phone has the correct APN settings. These settings allows your phone to connect to the mobile data network. You can get these settings from your carrier.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Check if you are able to use your mobile data when in this mode. If the issue doesn’t occur then an app you downloaded could be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S5 4G Not Working

Problem: My samsung S5 4G not working and in my phone i can’t see the LTE option, i only got CDMa,GSM, and auto. yet  my phone showed 4G signals. i’ve been doing the tips i got from your website but nothing works. this info might helping : i’ve been resetting my phone so many times. i never dropped it.( but i thing its not the hardware problem because it still show 4G signal. my friend told me i need to re install the phone to the root. i need help and first  of all thanks.

Solution: What you need to do first in this case is to verify with your carrier if you have an active mobile data subscription. If you have then the next step is to check the device. Since you are getting a 4G signal then your phone should be able to connect to the Internet using this mode. If the reset fails to fix the problem then it’s either a hardware issue or a problem with the network. I’d recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked first so that you can eliminate any hardware issues that might be causing this problem.

S5 Low Wi-Fi Signal

Problem: I have SM G900H S5 and my wifi bar has reduced even if i sit next to my router it’s only one bar. I performed factory reset but that doesn’t work. I started having this problem after once turning on and off my portable hotspot i was using the s view cover. Please help it is a 3g one.It dosnt have the snapdragon processor it has some enxous processor. Please help. of my apps work unless I’m using wifi. I can make/receive calls & texts without wifi, but that’s it. What should I do??

Solution: Have you tried checking if the issue is caused by your router? Try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network and check if the issue still occurs. If it does then this might already be a hardware related problem that’s caused by an internal component that’s not working properly. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

S5 Mobile Data Not Working After Marshmallow Update

Problem: After getting the marshmallow update my mobile data connection doesn’t work, I can’t text pictures or receive pictures through text & none

Solution: Try checking if your phone still has the correct APN settings. Make the necessary changes in these settings if needed. If your phone has the correct settings but the problem exists then you should consider doing a factory reset. This reset will remove any old software data that might not have been completely removed during the update which usually causes this type of issue. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

S5 Keeps On Downloading Update

Problem: Phone continuously prompts me that a software update is avaliable for my phone I download the update and when the phone reboots it tells me to download the software again over and over

Related Problem: I have a Galaxy S5 and after upgrading to android 5.1.1 it keeps telling me there’s a new software available and goes through the update again but since this is the latest version AT&T has nothing changes.  For some reason the phone doesn’t recognize that it performed the update already.  Been through AT&T support, we factory reset it but still keeps trying to update.  They told me only option is to get a new phone,  with this one being 1.5 yrs old don’t want to shove out another $700 for a new one. Any way I can stop it from continuously trying to update since it successfully did it already?

Solution: Sometimes when you update your phone software you will be prompted again for a new update. Most of the time this is a different update that is more recent and needs to be downloaded. There are however instances when the update notification is for the very same update that was already applied to the device. When this happens your option is to do a factory reset preferably from the recovery mode. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. If after the reset the issue still occurs then you should consider flashing your phone with its updated stock software. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.

S5 Mobile Data Not Working After Marshmallow Update

Problem: Hi! I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 NEO which came with the Android Lollipop 5.1.1 operative system and has worked without any problems since then. I recently updated my phone to Marshmallow 6.0.1 and everything just went down. When I turn on Mobile data / internet, I don’t get the 4G symbol on top of the screen and I can’t surf the web. I’ve tried removing and then re installing my SIM card, doing a hard factory reset, turning airplane mode on and off but I still can’t get my mobile data to work on the phone. It can’t be the SIM card since I can browse the web on an older phone with it, except that the old phone has 4.1.1 Jellybean. Thanks in advance!

Solution: The problem is most likely caused by a wrong APN setting in your phone. Compare the APN settings in your device to the one your carrier is using. Make the necessary setting changes in your phone if needed.

S5 Does Not Boot Up After Software Update

Problem: After the software update installation, the Galaxy S5 does not boot up. The phone seem to be death. Try to remove the battery and start-up by the power button, the phone just shows the Galaxy boot up screen in 2 second then it turn off the display (Black). I try reset the phone to the factory setup but it does not help.

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this case is to make sure that the battery is properly charged. To do this you need to clean the charging port of your phone first using a can of compressed air or by blowing to it using a straw. Your aim is to take out any dirt or debris that could interfere with the charging process. Next, take out the battery and microSD card ( if one is installed) then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and charger. Turn on your phone.

If the issue still occurs then check if your are able to start your phone in recovery mode. If you can access this mode then I recommend that you do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to have a backup before proceeding.

In the event that the above steps fail to fix the issue then the update installation might have become corrupted. You should consider flashing your phone with its updated stock software in this case. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.

S5 Vibrates Blinks After Software Update

Problem: I installed the new update.  The phone now vibrates and  blinks on and off only showing me the Galaxy S5 screen repeatedly.  Once I plug the phone in it stops and powers up regularly but once I unplug the charger the phone shuts off and goes back to repeatedly vibrating and blinking the Galaxy S5 screen. I was told by a us cellular service technician that once I installed the new update my S5 would be unlocked so that I could use it with a different carrier.  I’ve soft reset the phone put it into safe mode aND then factory reset it and I’ve even  reset it using the volume up menu and power button  as well as clearing the cache nothING has worked since the update and it worked perfectly before the update I even took 2 videos of me updating the phone and it shows everything that has happened.  Please help me asap.

Solution: Try using a new battery on your phone to check if the battery is causing the problem. If the problem still occurs then you should consider downgrading your phone software to the previous version to check if the update is causing this problem. Unfortunately, there is no automatic way to downgrade the software which has to be done manually by flashing the previous version to your phone. Refer to the various popular Android forums online on how to properly flash your phone software.

S5 Bluetooth Not Connecting After Software Upgrade

Problem: Since upgrading to 6.0 Android Marshmallow, my phone will no longer connect to the Bluetooth in my car. The hands-free link will connect for a second and then go away and it keeps cycling through this over and over. I’ve been reading your posts and went into:  Settings/Applications/Application Manager…but then “Bluetooth” doesn’t show up so I can’t clear the cache, which was one of your suggestions.  I had absolutely no problems with my Bluetooth prior to this system upgrade. I really hope you can help me.

Solution: If this issue occurred only after the software upgrade then it’s possible that it is caused by old software data that has not been completely removed from your phone. To fix this issue I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
