S4 Pictures Come Out Blurry

Problem: Whenever i take pictures with my camera (the original one that came with the phone), the photos are super clear during the day. But if i am in a dark room or even a place with fireworks, the pictures comes out green and blurry. This also happens as i am about to take the photo, shows up as clear then goes blurry. This happens both with and without flash on. Now i installed an app called line app. My photos come out clear. No green, no blur so i am assuming this is something wrong with the camera that came with the phone. I factory reset the phone x2, to see if it would fix the issue. Sadly no.I am paranoid bringing it into the carrier as with previous  devices i had they fixed other concerns than  caused another issue (scratches on the screen) course they didn’t want to take ownership for that, but suggested me to upgrade (which i did to this one). I am presently out of warranty.

Solution: Usually, if the problem disappears when using a different app then it is most likely caused by the original app. Clearing the cache and data of the original app should fix the problem or even doing a factory reset. In this case though it appears that the reset does not fix the problem.

One other factor that could cause this problem is the microSD card. If this card i corrupt then the phone will have difficulty storing the photos in it which could lead to this type of problem. If you are using the microSD card as the default storage location for your photos then try switching this to the internal storage of your phone. If the problem disappears then you should consider getting a new microSD card.

S4 Camera Failed Error

Problem: Everytime I try to take a video with the back camera of my phone OR use my front camera for picture or video, it says WARNING: Camera failed. I can only take pictures with the back camera and absolutely nothing else works. I have already cleared cache and data, factory reset, and even got the camera replaced only to find out that none of those things solved the problem.

Solution: Is your phone running on its stock software or are you using a custom ROM? If your phone is running on a custom ROM then I suggest you revert back to its original software first.

Since you already performed a factory reset which didn’t solve the issue this may already be caused by a problem with the phone hardware. The camera module of your phone could already be defective. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

S4 Photos Taken Become Corrupt

Problem: I have been having issues with the camera and storage of photos. It seems to take photos but when you go back to look at the photos they either only show half of the photo or you can’t view them at all. This also occurs with videos too. I am using a 128 gb card. I see that it supports 64gb but doesn’t list anything higher than that. I also have trouble getting the phone to recognize the card also. It is a SanDisk ultra high density card with HD capabilities. I’ve lost some really good photos and video and I can’t seem to figure out how to resolve it. Unless I replace it. Please help.

Solution: In most cases such as this the issue is caused by a corrupted microSD card. Since you are using a 128GB microSD card then this could also be possible factor as to why the photos gets corrupt. I suggest you try to use a new microSD card on your phone, preferably with a capacity of 64GB and below.

As to what to do with the photos and videos already stored in the microSD card I suggest you take the microSD card out of your phone then connect it to your computer. If your computer can read the photos and videos then you should immediately make a backup copy. If our computer can’t read the photos and videos then the files are most likely corrupt already.

S4 Camera Takes Poor Pictures

Problem: the camera that came with the Galaxy S4 started taking poor pictures. The number of modes changed from 12 to 6. the camera’s setting wheel is missing from the camera screen but shows on the pulldown window. I cleaned the lenses and emptied the  caches.

Solution: It appears that this may already be an issue caused by a glitch in the phone software. I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S4 Camera Firmware Updating

Problem: My rear camera doesn’t work it only showing camera firmware updating

Solution: You will need to check first if this issue is caused by problems within the camera app. Try clearing the cache and data of the camera app then check if the issue still persists. If it does then wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This deletes the temporary data stored in your device. Check if the problem still occurs.

One other factor that could cause this problem is the phone software itself. If this is the case then try to do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this procedure.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Camera Not Working Issue & Other Related Problems

A couple of years ago the smartphone camera could only take at best average quality photos. Fast forward to today, smartphone cameras are now advanced that they can now take high quality photos that can compete with point and shoot cameras. One of the smartphones available in the market that comes with a great camera is the #Samsung Galaxy #S4. Its 13 MP autofocus rear camera allows its user to take great photos and videos.

S4 Camera Not Taking Pictures

Problem: camera will not take pictures and does not respond to anything. cannot access any settings and cannot close. get message camera not responding

Solution: The app may have some corrupt temporary data stored in it. Try clearing the cache and data of your camera app then check if the issue still persists. If it does then I suggest you wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.

There are also instances when an app you installed may be causing this type of problem. To check if this is the case I suggest you start your phone in Safe Mode. While your phone is running in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. Try taking a picture in this mode. If the issue does not occur then there’s a chance that it may be caused by a third party app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

One other factor that can contribute to this problem is a faulty microSD card especially if the card is the default location to store photos and videos. Try to take out the microSD card then check if you still experience the issue.

Finally, if the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the problem then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

S4 Black Screen When Taking Photo

Problem: I aim to take a picture. The screen is black. The camera zooms but the shutter doesn’t open. This has only been happening for about a month so I doubt it’s a defect in the camera. Can you help? FYI: I hate this phone

Solution: Try to check if this is  software related issue first. Try to clear the cache and data of the camera app then check if you can now take photos. If this issue still occurs then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.

If you still experience the same issue then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This restores your phone back to its original factory condition. Do not install any apps or update your phone after the reset. Check the camera first and see if it works. If it doesn’t then this may already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

S4 Front Camera Not Working

Problem: So I am on a second Galaxy S4 since my first one had to get replaced. On both of the phones, the face cam/selfie cam does not work at all. On my first Galaxy S4, the face cam worked when I first got it but after a couple months it stopped working. I thought it was just an app that was the issue since it did say that an app may be using the camera. I found out that wasn’t the issue when I had my phone replaced (cracked screen) and right off the bat the camera on that phone wasn’t working either. I didn’t pay much mind to it and continued downloading apps I lost with my first GS4 being replaced. Recently I accidently locked myself out of my phone and since there was no google sign in to unlock option I had to factory reset it. I thought it would be a plus since on many websites they say that the last resort is to factory reset and the camera would work again. I will say now that even after factory resetting it, it still does not work. My last thought is that it’s the fact that I am like 1 or 2 update behind so I tried to update but there is always and error installing the update and now I have no idea what to do.

Solution: The first thing you should do is to update your phone software. Since you are getting an error  when updating your phone ( I assume you are doing the update OTA) you should try updating your phone software using the Kies or Smart Switch software which you can download from the Samsung website. Connect your phone using a USB cord to a computer running Kies or Smart Switch then just follow the onscreen instructions to update your phone.

If the front camera still does not work after the update then try doing one more round of factory reset from the recovery mode. Make sure to backup your phone data before performing this procedure. If the problem still persists then this may already be a hardware related issue. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

S4 Black Screen When Using Viber Or Facebook

Problem: When i try to use video chat on VIBER  or Facebook.  When i turn camera on i see a black screen and the person i am talking to also sees a black screen as if my camera is showing black screen . But my camera works perfect when i am taking pictures and video outside of any app. thank you.

Related Problem: I cant used anymore my video call in messenger and viber. I was using that before but it’s just stopped. Now today just happened that my video call in messenger is not working  too. Its just black screen whenever i turned it on on video.

Solution: Have you checked if your front camera works using the stock  camera app? if it does then the problem could be with the Viber and Facebook app. I suggest you clear the cache and data for both apps then uninstall them. Once both apps are uninstalled proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Restart your phone then go to the Google Play Store and download a fresh copy of Viber and Facebook.

S4 Front Camera Not Working

Problem: Right now, the camera switching option (SELFIE OPTION) doesn’t work. Originally my phone was overheating, freezing up and shutting off an on on its own.  I cleared the cache partition and eventually did a factory reset for those things to stop and they did.  Now i can’t use the selfie option, when i do I get the camera failed error.  I have also been unable to successfully download any apps. I just noticed an app i tried to install last week says it’s still installing.

Solution: If a camera failed error occurs then the issue could be caused by some form of corrupt data. Try clearing the cache and data of the camera app then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then uninstall any updates that the stock camera has as well.

You should also check if your phone is running no the latest software version. If it isn’t then update your phone software.

Another clue that could lead to the solution to this problem is the app that is still installing until now. I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the factory reset is complete then do not install anything yet. Check your front camera and see if it works.

If it still doesn’t work then this may already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

S4 Camera Failed Error

Problem: I’m currently deployed and had been video chatting with my wife with no problems, then randomly my phone want open the camera, it says camera failed. It actually will work but after I take a photo or close the camera it stops working again.

Solution: This case is usually caused by some form of corrupt data in the camera app. Try clearing the cache and data of the app and see if this fixes the problem. If it doesn’t then try wiping the cache partition of your phone.

There are also instances when an app you downloaded causes this type of problem. To check if this is the case then you should start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while the apps you downloaded are disabled. Check if the camera works normally in this mode. If it does then the issue is most likely caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Fixing The Note 4 Camera Photos Missing & Other Related Issues

One of the most compelling reasons to own a smartphone is its ability to instantly share photos. Just snap a photo of any subject and if the phone is connected to the Internet the photo can instantly be shared using any social networking app. Most photography enthusiasts who carry around their expensive DSLRs even rely on their smartphone when they want to take quick photos. The #Samsung Galaxy #Note4 is one such phone that allows anyone to take great photos and at the same time share those photos instantly.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Sometimes though, issues do occur when using the phone camera. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Note 4 camera photos missing issue. This is characterized by photos in the phone not displaying properly or missing from its storage.

Note 4 Photos From Gallery Missing

Problem: Hi. Im writing to you because i need help with the pictures in my gallery.. i’ve saved tons and tons of pics of my newborn daughter she’s now three and i have a couple hundred pics of her that are so very precious to me i can’t lose them! So anyway i noticed like a week ago that a big chunk of the pictures in my gallery are not there.. they show up like the space is being occupied but its black and looks like something you get when the picture doesn’t load. I click on them and still can’t see them.. i haven’t tried uploading to laptop to see if i can still see them.. but i’d like to know what causes this.. also i don’t have an sd card. It’s all on my phone. Thanks in advance!!

Solution: When your camera photos are black or can’t be accessed from your phone the most common cause of this is data corruption. You should however check if this is the case by first trying to wipe the cache partition of your phone. This deletes only the cached data of your device which is corrupt can sometimes cause this type of problem.

If after wiping the cache partition you still can’t view your photos then try connecting your phone using a USB cord to a computer running on Kies. Using Kies try to browse your phone photos. If you can view your photos without any problem then make a backup copy immediately.

If however you can’t view your photos then they are most likely corrupt already. You can try using some of the data recovery apps or software to recover the photos. Make sure to verify the app or software that you will be using to recover the photos to make sure that they indeed work. You can do this by reading the reviews left by other people when they used the app or software.

Note 4 Photos Appear Black With Exclamation Mark

Problem: Hi, I recently bought Note 4 ( SM-N910F ) and I’ve noticed that I have a problem in my gallery, when I open the camera to take pictures and save them in my SD Card 32 Gb, I go to the gallery and I tap to see the pictures, I see a black screen with and exclamation mark ! and when I shoot a video and try to open it, I find “Sorry, this video cannot be played” I changed the storage to device, the images appear normal, but when I changed the same images to the SD Card I couldn’t see them! I don’t know what’s wrong with it, please can you help?

Solution: In this case it is very likely that you have a faulty microSD card. I suggest replacing this card immediately as you will keep on losing data stored in this card.

As a precautionary measure you should also wipe the cache partition of your phone to eliminate the possibility of some form of corrupt data causing this problem.

S4 Camera Failed Error

Problem: “Camera Failed”. I have tried to clear the cache etc per the instructions on your site.  I turn the phone off and then back on and it might work once and back to Camera Failed.  Would love to get this resolved.  Thanks!

Solution: If clearing the cache and data of the camera app fails to resolve the problem then you should proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone.

To check if the camera app itself has an issue try using a third party camera app. If you don’t experience any problems using the third party camera app then access the Application Manager and look for the stock camera app. Click on uninstall updates. This allows you to check if a recent update to the camera app is causing the problem.

Try using the stock camera app again and see if the problem remains.

There are also cases wherein a third party app may be causing conflicts with the stock camera app which in turn causes the camera failed error. To check if this is the case you should start your phone in Safe Mode. Use your camera in this mode. If the error doesn’t occur then it may be caused by a third party app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail then I suggest you backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

Note 4 Dust In Rear Camera Photos Using Stock Camera App

Problem: I see dust like stuff in my back camera when trying to take image through default camera….even after taking a picture….that dust still appears in the image….dont know actually its dust or not… But that does not appear in third party apps…..so what is the reason that the black mark only appear in built in camera and not appearing in third party apps… Can u please suggest me ways to clear this annoying problem?

Solution: The first thing you should do in this case is to check the rear camera lens for any signs of dust. If you spot any then clean the lens using a microfiber cloth or a lens cleaning paper which you can buy at any camera specialty store. Make sure to only use the two recommended products above so as to avoid scratching the camera lens.

Once you have made sure that the lens is clean proceed with troubleshooting the phone. Since you mentioned that the issue disappears when you use a third party camera app then the problem may be with the stock camera app.

You should clear the cache and data of the stock camera app from the Application Manager. This clears out the cached data stored by the app itself which may be causing this problem.

If the issue persists then proceed with wiping the cache partition of your phone.

Finally, if all else fails I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Blurry Photos

Problem: There are many times when I open the camera to take a picture and the screen will just constantly shake. I have tried to press on the screen to use the focus but when it takes a picture the photo is blurry. It’s like the stabilization just will not work.  I have tried to search online how to fix but I have not found anything useful.  Please help me if you can.

Solution: The first thing that you should do is to make sure that the camera lens is clear of any dust or oily substance. This may interfere with the focusing feature of your phone since it may focus on the dirt/ oily substance as well as the subject that you are shooting. If necessary you should clean the lens using a microfiber cloth or a lens cleaning paper.

Sometimes the protective plastic film covering the camera lens  hasn’t been removed yet. Make sure that you have removed this from your phone.

To verify if this is an app related issue try downloading a third party camera app and use it. If you don’t experience any issue with the third party app then the problem may be with the stock camera app.

You should then clear the cache and data of the stock messaging app and if possible uninstall its updates. If the problem persists then try to disable the picture stabilization feature from the camera settings.

As a last resort you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Makes Noise When Zooming

Problem: hi,  pls my note 4 when i open the camera focus make a noise like zeeeen zeeeen i try all the solutions like format wipe cache data update … still the problem persist i think its a hardware thanks for help best regards

Solution: The buzzing sound you hear could be the optical image stabilization working. Does the sound affect the quality of the photos? If it doesn’t then you can just ignore it. However, if the sound is loud enough that can be heard from a few meters away then this may already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

S4 Camera Shuts Off On Its Own

Problem: My camera closes, or shuts off on it’s own when trying to take pictures or videos. I never know how long it’s going to stay on. Doesn’t matter which camera either either.

Solution: You should start the troubleshooting by checking if the problem is caused by a corrupt cached data in your camera app. If it is then clearing the cache and data of your camera app will do the trick. You should also follow this up by wiping the cache partition of your phone.

If the problem still occurs then the next step that you should do is to check if a certain third party app installed in your phone is causing the problem. To check if this is the case you will have to start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while the apps that you downloaded are disabled.Take a picture in this mode and observe if the issue still occurs. If the problem disappears then it is most likely caused by an app installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the problem still persists even in Safe Mode then you need to backup your phone data and do a factory reset. This brings your phone back to its original state when it was new and usually resolves this type of problem especially if it is caused by a software glitch.

S4 Camera Failed Error

Problem: Ever since I started school I would turn off my phone to not waste battery, or for it going off in class. Then when I would turn it back on and go on a camera related app it would say camera isn’t working. I went to the camera and it said Warning: Camera Failed. I tried cleaning the cache, shut down my phone and took out the battery for more than 10 secs. and the camera still doesn’t work. The camera hasn’t been working for the past few days, and I really need for it to work again. Thanks.

Related Problem: When ever I click camera application it shows warning camera failed error please help me out.

Solution: Clearing the cache of the camera app and restarting your phone are both excellent initial troubleshooting steps. In this case though the camera failed error still occurs despite performing the above mentioned steps.

What you should do next is to wipe the cache partition of your phone. There are instances when your phone has a corrupt cached data and this may be causing the issue.

You should also try to start your phone in Safe Mode to eliminate any problems caused by third party apps. In Safe Mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while the apps that you downloaded are disabled. This makes it easier for you to check if an app you installed is causing the problem. If you can use your camera without any problems in this mode then chances are the issue is caused by an app you installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Finally, if the problem still persists even in Safe Mode then you will have to backup your phone data and do a factory reset.

S4 Black Display When Using Rear Camera

Problem: when I try using the back camera the screen stays black. the front camera works but the resolution isn’t as clean as the main camera on the back. the camera settings come up when I hit the camera app, but the view is black. the camera lens looks intact, there’s no chips or cracks. the flash works.

Solution: This may already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This allows you to quickly eliminate any software related issues that may be causing this problem. After the factory reset you should immediately check the rear camera and see if the problem still occurs. If it does then I suggest that you bring your phone to an authorized service center as there may be something wrong with your phone’s rear camera module.

S4 Front Facing Camera Stopped Working

Problem: Front facing camera and video stopped working (attempting to select those options freezes up my phone until I manually close camera app or restart my phone)  6 months after owning this phone. It’s been a year since and I’ve tried restarting the phone, clearing the cache etc.

Solution: Try starting your phone in Safe Mode first and see if the issue still occurs in this mode. Usually, if the problem is caused by a third party app it should go away in this mode. If you can use the front camera in this mode then an app may be causing the issue. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the problem still occurs even in Safe Mode then you will need to verify if the problem is caused by your phone software. Back up your phone data then do a factory reset. Check and see if your front camera works after the reset.

If the issue persists then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked as this may already be a hardware related problem.

S4 Phone Freezes When Taking Photos

Problem: Standard camera app. When I take a pic or video with the phone upright, it locks up. I have to remove the battery to fix it. If I hold it horizontal,  it’s fine.

Solution: There’s a big possibility that this issue may just be caused by a corrupt cached data .I suggest you clear the cache and data of your phone camera app first. Follow this up by wiping the cache partition of your phone.

If you have a microSD card installed in your phone try removing this as this may also be the cause of the problem.

If the issue still persists then backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
