#Sprint unveiled the #HTC #OneE8 a couple of years ago on its networks. While the carrier has been notoriously slow with regards to updates, there is some good news for users of the One E8. The company is now sending out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for this budget offering from 2014. The smartphone might have taken a back seat on our minds, but the carrier is showing us that it hasn’t forgotten the One E8.
Coming from Lollipop, Marshmallow will seem like a massive upgrade for customers. Features like Google Now on Tap, improved handling of notifications and an overall refined version of Android (and the Sense UI) will greet the customers once the update is installed.
The carrier mentions that it will send out the update to all devices by August 29, so if you haven’t seen the update yet, there’s no need to panic. If you’re particularly impatient to get the update, you can try heading over to the Settings page to pull the OTA update manually.

After sending out a factory reset protection related update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Sprint is now sending out another update, but for the HTC One E8 smartphone from last year. This update brings the massive Lollipop upgrade to the device, along with some neat user interface changes as well.
HTC has confirmed this on Twitter as well, with the update officially scheduled to begin today. But as is the nature with OTA updates, don’t be disheartened if you’re not seeing it on your device right away.
The update will introduce a couple of handy Lollipop based features such as lockscreen notifications, improved handling of the Quick Settings menu and some other subtle UI changes. As we’ve learnt from the likes of Samsung and LG, the update will not replicate the stock Android experience that you’re probably expecting. So don’t get your hopes up if you were expecting a complete UI makeover.
It’s excellent to see that the One E8 smartphone is getting an update to the latest version of Android while some flagship offerings from top OEMs are yet to receive the coveted Lollipop update.

A couple of weeks ago, Sprint teased the arrival of the plastic sibling of the HTC One M8 known as the One E8. However, there was no clarity on when the handset will be officially available for purchase. That changes today as the carrier is now taking orders for the smartphone, with a price tag of $499.99 up front or $199.99 with a two year contract. The smartphone is also available through the carrier’s monthly installment plans at $20.84 per month for a period of two years.
The smartphone is very identical to the One M8 as far as inner hardware is concerned, but with a few distinguishing factors. The change that’s immediately noticeable is the plastic body in favor of metal to cut down material costs and also the weight to a great extent.
Also, there’s a solitary 13-megapixel camera on the back with none of the Duo Camera brouhaha. Barring that, the smartphone packs exactly the same feature set as the One M8 including the 5 inch 1080p display, the Snapdragon 801 SoC, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, Android 4.4.2 KitKat and a 2,600 mAh battery.
Customers can buy the smartphone through Sprint’s online or retail outlets immediately. Head over to Sprint’s listing from the link below if you’re interested in snatching one up.
