Note 5 Screen Flickering After Drop

Problem: I dropped my phone this morning and the edge hit the ground first. The screen now flickers every so often but doesn’t display anything and there is a blue flashing light in the upper left corner of the phone. I tried the reset (hold vol down and power button at the same time) and was unable to do anything as the screen is blank. I believe that the connector ribbon has been jarred out of place from the motherboard. The Note 5 does not have a removable back, so I can’t pull the battery or check the connection. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Solution: The best way right now to fix the problem is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as they will have the correct tools required to open the phone. It’s possible that the problem could be caused by a loose connector however there’s also the possibility that the display has been damaged by the drop.

Note 5 MMS Not Working

Problem: Hi, I got a galaxy note 5 unlocked from Verizon and I am using it on AT&T. The problem I am having is that I can not get the MMS messages to work. I did tested a few slightly different Access Point set ups and everything else works fine but the MMS. It is not something that I use much but knowing that it’s not working bugs me.

Here is some of the info on my device:

model: SM-N920V

baseband version: N920VVRS3BQB1

Access point:

  • Name: ATT
  • APN: NXTGENPHONE
  • MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
  • Multimedia message proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
  • Multimedia Message port: 80
  • MCC: 310
  • MNC: 410
  • Authentication type: none
  • APN Type: default,mms,supl,hipri
  • APN protocol IPv4

Solution: Because of the network differences between AT&T (GSM) and Verizon (CDMA) there are some issues that will occur when using a phone locked to one network on the other.

Here’s what you need to do to resolve this issue.

  • Contact AT&T and update the Verizon unlocked IMEI on your AT&T wireless number/SIM
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
  • Update your phone software.
  • Restart your phone after the update.
  • Make sure that the APN settings are correct.

Note 5 Security When Phone Is Lost

Problem: Referring to your article of ‘ anti theft’ , I recently lost my Galaxy Note 5, I have my google ID setup, Lock screen with Fingerprint, Secure Startup sets, so I based on you explanation I would assume that Anti Theft is being enabled? I am correct? furthermore, I would also like to know if the person would not be able to use the phone after hard reset? I know that the theft will not able to access for the files but still not sure if he/she can use the phone after hard reset.

Solution: If you have setup the security of your phone then your data is safe. Even if the person who found your phone will perform a factory reset then they still won’t be able to access your phone unless they know the Google ID and password combination that the phone is using.

Note 5 Stuck In Boot Loop After Getting Wet

Problem: Samsung Galaxy Note 5 stuck in Samsung boot loop after getting wet. Will not continue on to Verizon boot sequence. After drying in rice and blowing air at it, It came back up once, just long enough for me to upload everything to cloud account. I even selected reset to factory. Still looping Samsung boot.

Solution: If a factory reset fails to fix the problem then it’s very likely that the phone has suffered from water damage. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Freezes When Battery Reaches 20%

Problem: When my phone battery reaches 20% the phone starts freezing and works very slow. Most of the times when my phone battery reaches 30% or low and I stop using it the battery suddenly drops to 15% or less than that and when battery reaches 15% or less the phone turns off before reaching even 2% battery please help me…

Solution: What you can do in this particular case is to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then it’s possible that your phone might have a faulty battery. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Screen Becomes Black When Opening Email

Problem: Thank you for offering to help. About 10 days ago my Note 5 developed a quirk.  Whenever I open an email program using a the widget, I will see a brief glimpse of my messages, and then the screen goes blank.I’ve tried to soft reset, but that hasn’t helped.I have a Note 4 I can fall back on if necessary, but I got that from AT&T and the Note 5 is from Sprint.

Solution: There’s a possibility that this might be caused by a software glitch. Try clearing the cache and data of the email app that you are using from the application manager then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 5 No Command Error

Problem: Your list of 8 things for master reset, after 5 the screen stays blue but the little android character says “no command” then goes to the android recovery screen where i can scroll through reboot system now all the way down to power off, but that’s all i can do is scroll. Can’t click anything, if i hold my thumb on one of those listed, it highlights green. That’s it, this problem seems unfixable and even stumped best buy’s best android worker.

Solution: Try going all the way down to the power off section the press the power button of your phone to select it. This will turn off the phone. With the phone turned off press and hold the power and volume down button to turn it on.Your phone should restart after this.

Note 5 Won’t Hold A Charge

Problem: Phone charging won’t hold a charge after keeping it on charger for about 10 mins the red light turns blue and it wont power on i have factory reset bootloader reset. Safe mode which i can’t get it on for safe mode . Then it gets hot. Sometimes it will cut itself on the . Lte plus screen and just stay there then phone gets hot

Solution: Since you have already performed a factory reset which doesn’t fix the problem then this might already be a hardware related issue. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
