Note 5 Screen Has Purple Blue Patch

Problem: I dropped my phone from a very short height but on a concrete road. It was so that there was a small corner of the screen (where it had impacted ) got a chemical spill sort of purple blue patch. However over night the purple blue patch grew and covered the whole screen in a way that i can not use it properly any more. Please give me a solution. Could you also tell me how much would it cost me approximately to fix this problem.

Solution: Right now no amount of software troubleshooting will be able to bring back the condition of the display. The purple blue patch that you see on the phone screen means that the display is broken and needs to be replaced. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have the display replaced.

Note 5 Keeps On Freezing

Problem: Hi  My samsung note 5 keeps on freezing. after turning it on and the moment it displays the samsung logo the screen freezes. when i wake it up it displays the swipe option and screen freezes. tried safe mode and force reboot but same issue. I read a lot of discussion but so far there has been no fix to the problem.

Solution: If the problem still occurs even when you start the phone in Safe Mode then it’s possible that the problem is caused by some form of corrupt data. Perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this problem.

  • Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recover mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the problem still occurs then we might be looking at a hardware issue. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

Note 5 Parts Of Screen Not Recognizing Touch

Problem: Certain parts of my screen doesn’t recognize touch, but only while I’m in a call. Functions perfectly other than that

Solution: What you need to do first in this case is to check if an app you installed in your phone is causing the problem. To do this you have to start your phone in Safe Mode. When the phone works in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If however the problem occurs in Safe Mode then you should proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then could be caused by a defective digitizer. You will need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

Note 5 Screen Unresponsive After Charging Port Replacement

Problem: Hi — I was having trouble with my USB port — wouldn’t charge my phone. I replaced the usb and have success! The phone charges. But now the touch screen is unresponsive. Display is perfect — all of the buttons are connected and working. Absolutely 0 response to touch input. Is it possible I messed up the digitizer? Thanks. Selecting Nougat because I have no clue.

Solution: Try unseating the connection wire of the display and motherboard then connect it again. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs. If it does then I recommend you try doing a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data. If the problem still occurs after this then the digitizer of the phone might be damaged. You will have to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

Note 5 Screen Is Black After Nougat Update

Problem: I am using note 5 dual sim. After I update to Nougat, my home and lock screen became all black. Even if i change the wallpaper it will still black. I also don’t have the notification at the top of my phone. Like the battery % shortcuts etc. even the recent applications are not showing when i press the left side of the home button. What should i do?

Solution: Try doing a simulated battery pull on your phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If the problem still persists then I would recommend that you do a factory reset. You can do the reset from the recovery mode. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

Note 5 Only works With S Pen

Problem: I can turn my phone on and off and I can see what is happening on my screen perfectly, but when I try to type with my fingers, the screen doesn’t respond. I can only type and use my phone with my S Pen

Solution: It looks like the problem is caused by a damaged digitizer. To check if this is the cas you will have to do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete check if the issue still occurs. If it still does then this is most likely a digitizer problem already. You will need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

Note 5 Screen Mirroring To TV

Problem: Please help. I don’t have wifi available but do have 4G data on my Note 5 Samsung phone. I also have a brand new Samsung TV. I cannot figure out screen mirroring using data. Do I need a cable to plug into the TV and phone to connect the two devices?? Please let me know. Also, I’m not sure if marshmallow is the diversion of my device but it is a current Note 5

Solution: Screen mirroring allows you to display the exact contents of your phone to your TV. This however requires that your phone and TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. As of now you won’t be able to mirror the content of your phone using your mobile data subscription.

Although this phone uses an excellent display there are instances when some display issues can occur. Note 5 Screen Went Black

Problem: Hello droid guy i have a samsung galaxy note 5..and the problem is that the other day i was playing a game and while i was playing the screen went black and the buttons still work and when i get a message the small blue or yellow light starts flashing but if i press home button the screen wont turn on just the two corner buttons will be white and i already try power button and volume down and it will go off and then on but the screen wont turn on only the light and the two corner buttons.. do you think is the display.

Solution: If the screen is black but the phone is still getting notifications then the issue is most likely caused by the display. Try starting your phone in Safe Mode to check if an app is causing this problem. While the phone is in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. If the problem doesn’t occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue occurs even in Safe Mode then proceed with starting your phone in recovery mode. This is a separate environment independent from the main operating system of your phone. This allows you to check if the problem is caused by the phone software. If the screen appears normal in this mode then I suggest you do a factory reset from here. Take note that this will delete your phone data.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then I suggest you have your phone checked at a service center.

Note 5 Only Works With S Pen

Problem: My problem with this samsung note 5 is the screen. It just happen by around  9:30 pm  . If i touch my phone using my hand . Fingers. It doesn’t work but if i use  the spen its working. I Doubt it if the screen is broken. This phone several time have been drop accidentally but its works fine pls reply i need answers what the hell is happening to my phone.

Solution: You need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done do not install anything in your phone yet. You should first check if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then the problem could just be caused by a software glitch or by an app you installed. If the issue still remains then it’s very likely that it is caused by a damaged digitizer. I suggest that you have this checked at a service center.

Note 5 Screen Is Black

Problem: Hi. My phone screen went blank one morning. Sounds are still there. Plugged in my earphones and still able to play music using the play button on the earphone. I tried removing the battery and pressing the power button for three mins.  When the time was up and after inserting the battery, I tried to turn it on but I still had the blank screen with the sounds  still working. Basically no change. Do you have any other ways to help me with this dilemma? Any advice would be appreciated very much. Thanks.

Solution: Try starting your phone in recovery mode. If the problem does not occur in this mode then I recommend that you do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data. If you are unable to access recovery mode or if the screen is still black in this mode then I suggest you bring your phone to a service center and have the display checked.

Note 5 Screen Is Unresponsive

Problem: My phone is about a year old now, I’ve kept it in a case and behind a screen protector for the duration of my ownership. In the past 24 hours, I’ve noticed the screen becoming progressively less responsive to touch. In the last hour it has become intermittently responsive to touch and is altogether failing to recognize my interactions a majority of the time. I’ve restarted the device to attempt to resolve the issue to no avail. Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Solution: Sometimes this kind of problem occurs whenever the phone has accumulated a lot of cached data. Try starting your phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. Once this is done check if the screen is now responsive to your touch. If the issue still occurs then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Check if this fixes the problem.

One other factor that you should consider that is causing this problem is the screen protector. Try removing this screen protector then check if the problem disappears.

Note 5 Bubbles Under The Screen

Problem: It may have been addressed already. But my Note 5 i got in may has bubbles under the screen on the top edges. It looks like the screen is pulling away. Sprint, Samsung and Best Buy all say it’s not their problem. Any ideas as to cause and a fix of this? Just reglue the screen down?  Thanks for any help

Solution: Glueing the screen to secure it works in this case. Make sure to check some of the YouTube tutorial available online on how to replace the screen of this device so you will know the procedure on how to properly apply the glue.

Note 5 Bottom Screen Not Working

Problem: I brought my phone into my carrier and they said there is water damage. It never got wet. Anyways only the bottom portion of my screen does not work, unless i use the pen. So I would like to fix it myself but not sure what part I need since the phone is less than 2 months old and nothing else wrong with it.

Solution: It looks like the digitizer of the phone has been damaged. Try to do a factory reset first to check if the problem is software related. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this. If the factory reset fail to resolve the issue then you need you need to have the display assembly replaced since the digitizer is fused to the display.

Note 5 No Display After Phone Got Dropped

Problem: The phone fell off my pocket .the led light was working but the screen turned blank and suddenly the phone started heating up. When i tried charging it the led light appeared but no screen . the phone companion app couldn’t detect it as well

Solution: It’s very likely that the display has been damaged by the drop. I recommend you have this checked at a service center.

The #Samsung #Galaxy #Note5 is best known as a device with a large display. This phone uses a 5.7 inch Super AMOLED display that has a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. Aside from being great to use when viewing various multimedia content the screen also works well with the included S Pen which this line is known for. Although this is a pretty solid phone which is being used as a reliable daily driver there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. Note 5 Black Screen

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy note 5 has some black screen thing… everything else works on it but the screen does not. I did not drop it or anything, I put it next to me (on a table) and went to bed and when I woke up this morning by my alarm set on my phone, I could not see anything besides the buttons at the bottom and the notification light. The vibration works and phone calls work on it as well.. I also tried rebooting, force turn off and I can’t tell when I try to soft/hard reset via the boot menu because the screen is still blank. I only had my phone for 5 months as well. I got it online as a wifi phone basically brand new so I really need some help with this issue… BTW I’m not sure what its operating system is but I’d say it’s either version 5-6

Solution: You should try starting your phone in recovery mode. If your screen works in this mode then you will have to do a factory reset from here. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data. If however the screen still does not work even in recovery mode then this is already a hardware related problem possibly caused by a damaged display or a loose connection between the display and the motherboard. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it  checked.

Note 5 Black Dots On Screen

Problem: I have a galaxy note 5 and it received physical damage and now the screen got a strip on the left side of the screen and black dots came on the screen now covering all of it. And the screen only works with the pen.

Solution: When the screen is physically damaged the best thing to do is to have the display assembly replaced. You should however try to check if the problem can be minimized by trying to do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. If the issue still occurs even after the reset then bring your phone to a service center and have the display assembly replaced.

Note 5 Only Works With S Pen

Problem: Error unfortunately device keystring has stopped working after typing *#2663# to update the touch screen S pen works fine and everything else but touch screen with my hands nothing works

Solution: It’s possible that the problem is caused by a faulty digitizer. This phone has two digitizers, one responsible for the touch input and one responsible for the S Pen input. The digitizer for the touch input might be failing to work. To check if this is the case you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset if the issue still occurs then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked. If it is found out that the digitizer is defective then the whole display assembly will have to be replaced.

Note 5 Screen Timeout Stuck In 15 Seconds

Problem: My Galaxy Note 5 Display Screen Timeout keeps going back to 15 seconds, no matter what setting I choose. Have been to the Verizon store 3 times and they couldn’t fix it.

Solution: Have you made sure to correctly set the screen timeout of the phone?

  • Tap the Settings icon
  • Tap Display
  • Tap Screen Timeout
  • Tap your preferred duration.

If it still keeps on reverting to 15 seconds then try to check if an app installed in your phone is causing this problem by starting the device in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are prevented from running. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Another troubleshooting step that you can do is a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing this.

Note 5 Screen Went Black

Problem: My note 5 screen went fuzzy like a tv screen then went black. Now can’t see nothing not even samsung label. But i feel the phone vibrate and lights come on. Now the phone has been dropped and fell in the toilet last year. Lol. But work up till today. I can’t turn the phone off and i don’t have a pull out battery. Can you help.?

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to simulate a battery pull. Press and hold both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. If your phone does not restart then try charging if first for 20 minutes then turn on the phone. If you are still not getting any response then this is most likely a hardware related problem already. I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

Note 5 Not Working With S Pen

Problem: When I remove the S Pen from my phone the phone reacts but when I try to touch the screen with the pen it doesn’t register it. I am trying to get more information about how to get it fixed.

Solution: This is a similar issue to a problem we have addressed above where the screen does not work when it is touched but it works with an S Pen. This time though the issue is reversed as the phone does not work with an S Pen. The problem is still most likely caused by a damaged digitizer. To troubleshoot this you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If after the reset the problem still occurs then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Screen Randomly Not Responding

Problem: My screen randomly does not respond, doesnt turn on. There still is power as i get notifications and phone calls (call showed up but couldn’t answer).

Solution: Does this happen often? You need to check if an app you downloaded is causing this to happen by starting the phone in Safe Mode. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the issue occurs in Safe Mode then proceed with starting the phone in recovery mode then do the following

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone.
  • Factory reset. Make sure to have a backup copy of your data before doing.

Note 5 Soft Keys will Light Up After Update

Problem: I upgraded my note 5 from 5.1.1 to 6.0.1. Every minute the soft keys (back buttons will flash for half a second) even though I didn’t press them. Looks like something is running in the background that is using resources.

Solution: You should check first if a downloaded app is causing this problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then you will need to do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Touch Screen Won’t Work Issue & Other Related Problems

The Note series of devices are best known for their large beautiful screens. The #Samsung #Galaxy #Note5 is one such model in this series that sports a 5.7 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels making it great to use for various multimedia work. One quick fact about this phone is that it is still considered the latest model in this series since the Note 7 has been recalled and discontinued worldwide ( there is no Note 6 as Samsung skipped this number). While this phone is being used as a reliable daily driver by a lot of people there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy Note 5 touch screen won’t work issue & other related problems.

Note 5 Touch Screen Won’t Work

Problem: This morning I was using my phone just fine and then I installed the upgrade and now my touch screen wont work.  Any suggestions on how to fix it?  I have done a hard shutdown and a factory reset already. Unfortunately I do not know what my operating system is.

Solution: Since you mentioned that this occurred right after a software update then a factory reset should have resolved the issue. Since the reset fails then you need to verify if the update is causing this problem by manually flashing the previous firmware version to your phone. You can download the firmware file for your specific model at the Sammobile website. Instructions on how to flash your phone are also provided in the website.

If the issue still occurs even if you have flashed an older firmware version to your phone then this could already be a hardware related problem. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

Note 5 Screen Is Purple

Problem: The screen of my note 5 have become purple all most all of it …. the touch works fine but the screen colour is purple completely abt 80% … only the top side of the screen looks good (10 -15%) .. and the rest of the screen is whole purplish… plzz help me .. i didn’t drop it neither any other issue

Solution: What you should do first is to determine if this is caused by some form of software glitch. Try starting your phone in Safe Mode then check if the screen is still purple. If it isn’t then this could be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the issue still occurs even in this mode then you should proceed with a factory reset. Don’t forget to backup your phone data before doing the reset. If after the reset the issue still occurs then this could be caused by a faulty display assembly. You will need to have this checked and possibly replaced at a service center.

Note 5 Keeps Flickering Opening And Closing Multi Window Tab

Problem: My Galaxy note 5 keeps saying it can not work in split screen mode, I lost the s pen and it keeps flickering and opening and closing the multi window tab. Recently the screen hasn’t been working, I can not select anything on there how do I did this problem?

Solution: For this particular problem you will need to go straight to doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Try to use Smart Switch to backup your phone data. If after the reset the problem still remains then this could already be a hardware related issue. You will need to have this checked at a service center.

Note 5 Only Works With S Pen

Problem: My samsung note 5 won’t let me touch the screen with my finger but the pen will let me. Is there any other way I can get my screen back so I can touch it with my fingers

Solution: It looks like the digitizer of the phone is faulty which is why you can’t use your fingers to operate the screen. In this scenario you should try to backup your phone data then do a factory reset to check if it’s just caused by a software glitch. If the issue still occurs after the reset then this is most likely a digitizer problem already. You will have to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked. It’s possible that the whole display assembly will have to be replaced since the digitizer is fused to the display.

Note 5 Display Interchangeability With S7 Edge

Problem: Are the digitizer/LCDs interchangeable between the note 5 and S7 edge? They are the same size but would it work?

Solution: They might have the same size and shape but you won’t be able to use the S7 Edge replacement display on a Note 5 and vice verse.

Note 5 Screen Is Black

Problem: Blue LED light stays blue but the screen is black and when i try holding down the volume and power button, the screen gives a little flash from the right side of the screen. I did drop it with my case on so i don’t understand why that happened. What can i do?

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular problem is to simultaneously press and hold the power and volume down button for at least 10 seconds. Normally, your phone should restart after this. If it doesn’t then try charging your phone first for at least 20 minutes then turn the phone on. If it still does not turn on then try starting it in recovery mode. From here you will need to do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Forgotten Screen Lock

Problem: I set a screen lock & thought was my daughter bday but nope. I have tried every password i have ever used. I do not want to do factory reset due to the unusual problem that my father’s funeral pics & him with my daughter as a baby will not back up. Plus his voice mails can not be saved not even by Sprint. Please help me unlock my screen. I went to android admin did nothing, Samsung find my phone nothing. Please help.

Solution: From the lock screen you can tap on forgot password. You will then be prompted to enter the Google account details, username and password,  to unlock the phone.

If you have forgotten the Google account password then you can recover this by accessing your Google account from a computer. Just click on forgot password when you are prompted to enter the password. If you have setup a security question then you will be asked these questions after which you will be able to gain access to your account.

Note 5 Stuck In Optimizing Apps After Software Update

Problem: I did a manual update today, so the phone is now stuck on a screen with a greenish background that has 2 gears icons rotating and it says Android is starting… Optimizing app 31 of 37

Solution: Try to restart your phone. If the issue remains then wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. One last troubleshooting step to consider in this particular case is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

Note 5 Screen Flashing White

Problem: Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 5. It has been working great up until about 2 weeks ago. I was on my phone using facebook. I noticed the battery was getting low so I plugged it in to charge. When it was fully charged I unplugged it and got on another website, maybe email. I don’t remember now, and the screen was flashing, half white and the other half black. The phone has not been dropped and it has been in good condition up until this happened. Please help as I have many contacts on my phone who I am out of touch with now that it wont work. Thank you.

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to do a simulated battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this.

In case the issue still persists then start your phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of the device. This will not delete your phone data. Restart your phone after this.

If the issue still persists then it’s very likely that this is caused by some faulty hardware component in which case you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Screen Is Blue Unresponsive

Problem: Hello, I woke up with my S Note 5 screen looking like a blue ink bottle splattered all over it. I was still able to open functions for a little bit, but when I rebooted the phone, and tried to unlock it does not respond to touch anymore. Also, it’s been having weird electric crackling for the past week or so. It did it at random times, I tried to observe if to see if– it was because of an app, or the amount of time I have been on it and all that, but there wasn’t been a specific time, or app or length of time on it that was routine. Just random times really. Also, this past weekend, I felt an electrical surge on my palm while holding it, but it didn’t do anything out of ordinary, and it was not hot either. I do not recall my phone getting soaked in any liquid other than it getting damp from the rain 2 days ago. It did not do anything weird last night, or showed signs of anything being wrong with it, but I guess the blue botches in my screen caused my Note 5 to be faulty and unusable. Please help me, it will not let me unlock my phone, I just need to at least transfer everything I have on my Note 5 to another device or even a cloud or external storage. The device was recently updated as well, but I can’t remember the OS version it updated to so I chose the other from the choices below,. I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks in advance

Solution: The first thing that you should do in this particular case is to check if an app you downloaded  is causing the problem. Start the phone in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and install it.

If the problem persists in Safe Mode and since you want to retrieve your phone data then performing a factory reset in recovery mode is not going to be an option. In this case then I would recommend you bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this is most likely caused by a hardware component that is failing to work properly.

Note 5 Camera Photos Are Blurry

Problem: Suddenly, all my pics that I take are blurry in Gallery.  In quick view, after I take the picture, it’s great but later on in Gallery, it’s blurry.  Also, I can’t scroll between pictures, only the 1st one shows up all others are just black.  This has been going on for a week.  Older pics in gallery are ok and can scroll. Have tried clearing cache of both camera and gallery, force stop both apps, reboot, etc. At the same time, all pics taken with the selfie camera are only white in gallery thumbnails and then black when you click on it.  Makes using my camera almost useless.  But then, when I connect my phone to my computer, the pics show up just fine!  Also when I look at them on my phone in file explorer – images, they are fine but I have to click on each thumbnail separately.  If I scroll, the ones after the initial one are black. This is extremely strange and frustrating, please help!

Solution: You should check if the same issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. if it doesn’t then it’s likely that this is caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. In case the issue still occurs in Safe Mode then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. You should first check if the problem still occurs.

Note 5 Stopped Charging Fully

Problem: Last month, my phone stopped charging fully.  It would say 100%, but when unplugged drop to 98% immediately, then almost immediately to 63%.  After a few days, I took it to Batteries Plus to have a new battery installed.  The new battery still has the issue, so I thought it had to do with an app.  Tried Safe Mode, still had the issue.  Did Factory Reset and wiped the phone, still have battery issues.  I broke down and bought a Note 8, but I would still like to use my Note 5 as a backup.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Solution: Try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge your phone. If the issue persists then the problem could be caused by a faulty power IC. If this is the case then you will need to have this checked at a service center.

Note 5 Shuts Off After Charging

Problem: My Samsung galaxy note 5 charges to 5-10% and stops, when i restart it after a few minutes its suddenly at a higher percentage according to how long it was charging, when i remove the charger after i see its on a higher percent it stays on for about 3-10 minutes then shuts off and goes back down to 1 or 0%. How do i fix this

Solution: This is most likely a hardware related problem already possibly caused by a faulty battery or power IC. The best troubleshooting step you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If after the reset the issue still occurs then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Only Works With S Pen

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is not sensitive to finger touching. I have to use the S Pen even when taking pictures using the camera. Please help!

Solution: To fix this problem you need to do a factory reset to eliminate any software glitches that can be causing this issue. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. If the issue persists then the digitizer of the phone is not working. You will need to have this checked at a service center.

Note 5 Screen Became Unresponsive

Problem: Samsung note 5 Screen became unresponsive and upon reboot left upper corner became purple. Now almost the rest of the screen has a purple mask going over screen. Pressing apps or keys on phone are unresponsive. Recently phone updated to new software. Ran extremely hot when it froze.

Solution: For this issue I’d recommend that you backup your phone data first then do a factory reset ( preferably from the recovery mode). This way you can immediately check if the phone software is causing this problem. Once the reset is complete do not install anything in your phone yet. Check if the issue still occurs. If it does then there’s a possibility that your phone has a damaged display assembly. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

Note 5 Only Works With S Pen

Problem: Hello my screen for my Note 5 is now not recognizing my finger and only works with my S Pen. I’m starting to think it is due to the fact that I would keep my phone in the shower with me in the area where it really does not get wet. Could the moisture of the showering be causing this? and for now what do you recommend I do to get my screen to be working with my finger again? Please and thank you for your time.

Related Problem: How to do soft reset with Samsung Galaxy Note5? Ive suddenly been experiencing trouble with my phone touch screen wont respond with my touch unless I use it with stylus. Even if it seems to be working with the use of stylus, the screen still wont respond to my touch using fingers. It seems like it has a mind of its own suddenly just pressing keys on its own even without me pressing it. What could be the problem? Thank you.

Solution: It’s possible that the moisture has damaged the phone digitizer. To fix this issue you should first check if this is caused by a glitch in the phone software by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. If after the reset the issue still remains then there’s a possibility that the digitizer is damaged. Have this checked at a service center.

Note 5 Vertical Lines In Display

Problem: My Note 5 is less than a year old; I bought a brand new factory unlocked international version (which subsequently does not have a warranty). The phone is in pristine cosmetic condition and I have looked after it well.A few weeks ago, half the screen began to display faint vertical lines. Help! Would you know how to rectify this?

Solution: Try to check if the same issue occurs when you phone is started in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install anything in your phone yet. Check first if you still see vertical lines. If the lines are still present then this could already be a hardware problem possibly caused by an issue with the display. I recommend that you have your phone checked at a service center if this is the case.

Note 5 Screen not Working Properly When Using Touch Input

Problem: For some days now, anytime I tap on my screen, something else happens. I may try to swipe across, but an app in say the lower right section of the phone will open. My only temporary solution is by using the S-pen to do all my duties, but you can imagine how frustrating it is texting, as a pen cannot move that swiftly across the keyboard UI. I’d really like a solution for this issue because I’m almost at my hair’s end. Thank you for your time and hope to hear from you soon.

Solution: You need to check first if the phone software is causing this issue by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset. After the reset do not install anything in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then it’s possible that the phone has a faulty digitizer. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

Note 5 Purple Smudges On Screen

Problem: Purple smudges have appeared on the right edge of the screen, almost at the center of its longer side. The main one is almost 20 mm long and 2 mm wide. I was using a mobile holder with spring loaded clamps. Please provide remedy. Thank you.

Solution: The clamps might have damaged the display causing the purple smudges to appear. Try to start your phone in Safe Mode then check if the smudges still appear. If it still appears then you should bring your phone to a service center as it’s possible that this is already a hardware issue.
