Note 4 Will Not Quick Charge

Problem: My note 4 won’t quick charge or connect to my computer. I took it to a local repair shop and they tried a new port but the problem didn’t change. They told me it was my ic power chip. Could you please help me and tell me what might be the problem?

Solution: If the charging port is not causing the problem then it’s very likely that the problem is caused by a damaged power IC. You should try to have this component replaced at a service center then check if the problem still occurs.

Note 4 Screen Stays Black Even If Phone Is On

Problem: My note 4 screen stays black even when it comes on. My keys light up and so does the led light and it makes all the noises to let me know that i have a message or something and that’s it. Please help if you can and yes i did all your steps.

Solution: In vases such as this the most likely cause is a damaged display. If the phone display is the only component that is damaged then you will still be getting notifications of text messages or calls but the screen will still remain black. To verify if this is what’s happening right now you will have to start the phone in recovery mode. If the screen works in this mode then the problem might just be caused by a software glitch. You will then have to perform a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

In case the screen remains black even in recovery mode then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked. If the display is found to be defective then it’s possible that you will end up having the display assembly replaced.

Note 4 Randomly Shuts Off

Problem: Just got a note 4 off ebay. Seller claims it is new. But device randomly shuts off no matter what I’m doing on phone and will try to turn back on but won’t until it is plugged in. I really don’t want to be without a phone. So trying to fix it. It is a verizon phone but on straight talk. (Can not figure out what version my phone is running)

Solution: If your phone shuts off randomly and does not start unless the charger is plugged then it’s possible that either the battery is faulty or the problem is caused by a malfunctioning power IC.

What you should do first in this case is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. If the phone has a microSD card installed then you should remove it as well. Check if the problem still occurs. If it does then this is most likely a hardware related problem already. You will need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

Note 4 Shuts Down When Battery Power Reaches 55%

Problem: When I fully charge my battery and go about the day when it gets down to about 55% it just shuts down and needs to be charged.  When I connect it to the charger it shows that it’s 55% full and continues to charge but doesn’t not let me get on to use it.  I am not sure what my Android Version is, so I put “0”.  I had this problem once before and I took it back to T-Mobile and I got a refurbished phone but I can’t just keep doing that.  Is there anyway to fix this problem for good? Thanks.

Related Problem: Galaxy note 4, shuts off at around 76% try to turn it back on and it gets stuck in a loop like it’s cutting on but does not have enough power to cut on and shuts back off. Then I plug it up and it will cut on.

Solution: What you need to do first in this particular problem is to check if a software glitch is causing the problem by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset. Once the reset is complete immediately check if the problem still occurs without installing any apps yet. If the problem persists then try getting a new battery to check if the battery is causing the problem.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Keeps Rebooting Freezing

Problem: My phone keeps rebooting, usually after it freezes. Sometimes it will lag and then freeze and then unfreeze and I’m able to continue to use it. But most of the time, once it freezes, it will then just reboot. Occasionally, I will have to remove the battery when it freezes because no buttons work…not even the power button, and it doesn’t reboot on its own. A couple of times, once it has started rebooting, it will go into odin mode, even though I haven’t touched any buttons.

Related Problem: My phone is very slow . When I click on an app it takes too long to open. It freezes at random and I have to take the battery off and put it back before the turn on bottom works. The phone gets heated too fast maybe just after about 5 minutes in use

Solution: If your phone has a microSD card installed then remove it before doing any troubleshooting as sometimes this card can cause the phone to freeze or reboot. If the problem still occurs then the best thing to do right now is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. If after the reset the problem still occurs then you will need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Intermittent Fast Charging

Problem: when using fast charging in my phone (Note 4) the power is connect and disconnect every 30 sec or 60 sec also the sign of the power appear and disappear after I canceled the fast charge from the phone the power working normally how to fix it please because I afraid about my device from the electrical up and down

Solution: What you should do first in this case is to clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port. Next, try charging your phone using a different charging cord and fast charger. If the problem persists then you will need to have the charging port of your phone checked at a service center.

Note 4 Is Not Charging

Problem: Hello I have a note 4 phone. It is not charging. The battery is drained. When I connect to a charger after few second the battery icon is flashing every few second. I have followed the soft reset. it shows the logo Note 4 then turns off. I have already replaced the charging port to a new charging port. It is my one of my client phone. I have looked all your solution but it didn’t looks working any solution. Please help. Any suggestion please

Solution: Try checking if the battery is causing the problem by using a new battery on the phone. You should also try to use a different charging cord and wall charger. If the problem persists then this could be caused by a faulty power IC or charging IC. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

Note 4 Restarts Lags After Software Update

Problem: I read the issues you have listed and I am having the same issues as the person whose title said trouble with the Note 4 restarting and being laggy after the update.  I have done all of the things suggested,  factory reset, took out SD card, used in safe mode, took phone in and had the software flashed, did the (what I will call DOS) cache clearing.  Is there any way to roll back to the previous update?  That seems to be my last hope.  Thank you

Solution: To rollback to the previous software version you will need to flash the phone with its previous firmware file. You can download this firmware file from the Sammobile website which should also have the instructions on how to flash your phone.

If the issue remains even after flashing back the previous software version then this could already be a hardware related problem in which case you will need to bring the phone to its service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Shuts Down On Its Own

Problem:   My phone has been shutting down at 50% and restarting and shutting down again so I uninstalled my SD card and restarted when I went to CM Security my phone shut down immediately I uninstall CM Security and charge my phone to 20% I have a 45 minutes I’ve been watching youtube surfing the web and I’m only down to 70%.

Solution: When a phone shuts down on its own there are several factors that could be causing this. We can categorize these factors as either caused by the software or the hardware. Below are the necessary troubleshooting steps that you need to do to resolve this issue. Move to the next step if the current step you performed fails to fix the problem.

  • Start the phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. What this step does is it deletes the temporary data of your phone which if corrupt can cause this problem.
  • Try to check if an app you downloaded is causing this problem. To do this you need to start your phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Remove the microSD card.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
  • Replace the phone battery with a new one.

If after performing the above steps the problem still occurs then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Does Not Turn On

Problem: My phone won’t power on it was fine this morning working played on Facebook for a little bit and Instagram put it in my pocket pulled it out a few hours later it was off try to restart tried to reboot took out battery took out the SIM card and tried everything took to store they said no go they tried to take tell me to go to a battery place doesn’t need a new battery tried 2 different ones help help help.

Solution: If you have already tried several troubleshooting steps and even replaced the phone battery then this could already be a hardware issue. You should however try to perform the troubleshooting steps listed below which are recommended for this type of problem. Move to the next step if the issue remains unresolved.

  • Take out the battery and microSD card. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then turn on your phone.
  • Charge your phone for at least 20 minutes using a wall charger that is known to work.
  • Use a different phone battery. Make sure to charge this new battery for at least 20 minutes.
  • Try to check if the phone turns on in recovery mode. If you are able to access this mode then perform a wipe cache partition. This deletes the temporary data of your device.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding with this step.

If the above steps fail to resolve the issue then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Random Restart After Marshmallow Update

Problem: So ever since I updated to marshmallow my phone will power itself off and on 4-6 time per day for no reason. I can be in the middle of reading the news or it can be sitting on the table with no use and the power will cycle off and on.

Solution: If the phone randomly restarts after the Marshmallow update then this could be caused by some old software data that could be still present in your device. This old data causes a conflict with the new software version causing this problem. Below are the steps that you need to do to resolve this issue.

  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from  the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the issue still occurs even after performing the above steps then try to replace your phone battery with a new one.

Note 4 Turns Off When Using Camera

Problem: My battery swelled about 4 months ago so i got a new one and everything seemed fine. Now everytime i go onto snapchat or just into camera my phone turns off even though there’s 60% battery and the only way to turn it on is to plug it into charger until its back on.

Solution: The reason why the phone turns off whenever the camera is used is because there is a sharp voltage drop that occurs. This camera uses a considerable amount of power which it gets from the battery. Once the camera is activated the voltage supplied by the battery may suddenly drop causing the phone to lose power. One best way to resolve this is to get a new battery.

Before getting a new battery though you should check if the problem is software related by wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. If this doesn’t resolve the issue then backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If even the reset fails then go ahead and replace the battery.

Note 4 Not Charging After Getting Wet

Problem: Dropped my phone in water around five days ago. I didn’t notice the charging problem until the next morning. It has been surrounded in rice ever since. And it’s still not charging. At this point I’ve tried the soft reset and don’t know what to do.

Solution: Since your phone got wet then this is most likely a hardware related issue already. Try the following troubleshooting steps below recommended for this type of issue. Move to the next step if the current step you performed fails to fix the issue.

  • Clean the phone charging port using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
  • Use a different charging cord when charging the phone. This cord gets easily damaged especially if it is constantly coiled or bent which is why you need to eliminate this possibility.
  • Use a different wall charger.
  • Try using a new battery.

If the problem still occurs even after performing the above steps then I suggest you have your phone checked at an authorized service center.

Note 4 Battery Charge Drops After Marshmallow Update

Problem: Since the marshmallow update my battery goes from full charge to 1 in minutes of being unplugged meaning I cant use my phone outside of the house as it needs charging every few minutes even when it hasn’t been used.

Solution: Try checking first if this issue is software related by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset. Once the reset is done do not install any apps yet on your device. Instead, try to check if the battery drain issue still occurs. If it does then I suggest you get a new battery as the one your phone is using could already be faulty.

Note 4 Does Not Completely Charge Using Fast Charger

Problem: I have purchase Samsung note 4  and it is refurbished one . I have installed all necessary apps, but when I connect to fast charger it charges the battery up to 77% and stuck on it then I have off the fast charging feature then it reach up  to 100%. So I thought it is software related issue so I have hard reset my phone and only installed Facebook twitter vibe whatsapp and still my battery is showing 32% so still I have not connected my note 4 to fast charger.

Solution: If you have already hard reset your phone which still fails to resolve the issue then this could already be a hardware related problem. Below are the troubleshooting steps that you need to perform in this scenario.

  • Clean the phone charging port using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
  • Use a different charging cord.
  • Use a different fast charger.
  • Get a new phone battery.

Note 4 Intermittent Fast Charging

Problem: Have issues with the fast charging of my note 4. Sometimes it charges very quickly sometimes it doesn’t. When it charges slowly it’s mostly when the battery is below 25% . Above that it charges fast. I’ve tried different quick chargers. Same problem.

Solution: This is a similar issue to the problem we have addressed above. The same troubleshooting steps will apply so try to perform the steps listed above. One additional step that you need to perform should the issue still persists is a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data so make sure to backup your phone data before doing this.
