We don’t hear much about the #NextbitRobin these days. Partly because the buzz has died down since the release of the handset. Well, if you needed a reminder of its potential, a new deal on Amazon is doing just that. Valid only today, the Nextbit Robin can be bought for just $199 from the online retailer. The handset has seen its price coming down to $299 recently, so this is a 33% discount on the regular asking price.
Speaking about the device itself, the Robin is a very capable device in terms of hardware. But what makes it stand out from the competition is the fact that it comes with a very exciting cloud storage service, encouraging customers to rely less on onboard storage. However, if you’re still insistent on using the internal storage, you can do so freely with the 32GB (non-expandable) storage space offered on the device.
The rest of the hardware specs sheet reads pretty nicely as well. The device comes with a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 SoC, 3GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front camera, Android 6.0 Marshmallow and a 2,680 mAh battery.
As we all know, today (July 12) is Amazon’s Prime Day, where the retailer offers a multitude of deals and discounts on products exclusively for Prime subscribers. One of the best smartphone deals we’ve come across today is on the #NextbitRobin, which is currently selling for just $239, down from its usual price of $299.
The discounted price will be visible during checkout and is only valid if you have a valid subscription to Amazon Prime. The Nextbit Robin is one of the most innovative phones to come out in recent memory as it pushes cloud storage heavily. Apps, photos, and other content are seamlessly merged with the cloud, which basically means that you get a lot to do with the internal storage.
The Robin comes with a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front camera, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage (non-expandable), a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 chipset, Android 6.0 Marshmallow and a 2,680 mAh battery. The handset also comes with 100GB of online storage for all the content on the phone.
The #NextbitRobin will soon be available in Red as per multiple confirmations made by the company. The first of these confirmations came in the form of a Twitter post, showing Red paint and a paintbrush alongside the Nextbit Robin. But if that wasn’t enough of a hint, the makers held a Facebook Live session showing the Red Nextbit Robin in all its glory.
So that pretty much confirms its existence to us. Now all that we have to do is wait for the company to officially unveil this new variant of the Robin. Given that the pricing of the Robin came down to $299 not too long ago, we’re guessing Nextbit won’t charge a premium for this new color variant. But knowing the nature of this business, we wouldn’t be surprised if this variant has some additional features on board to justify a slightly steeper price tag.

The makers of the #NextbitRobin have announced that the smartphone will start receiving a new update which would significantly enhance the battery life. The update will apparently hit devices sometime by the fourth quarter of the year, so it’s still a few months away. For those interested in testing out the update before its commercial release, Nextbit will make a beta available as well, which is worth a look.
The company, in its statement, takes a jibe at phones with larger batteries, mentioning that the Nextbit Robin’s update will make changes on a system level, cleverly learning from your usage patterns to conserve device battery life. It’s not known if any of this will actually have a significant improvement on your battery life, but Nextbit clearly likes to think so.
So if you’ve been less than pleased with the battery life of the handset, be assured that a new update is on its way. You can find Nextbit’s statement in its entirety below:
“Because battery technology has improved slower than other technology, the industry has relied on more efficient processors and larger batteries (What do you think is under all those 5.5″+ screens?) to do their dirty work. These steps do give you more battery life, but the improvement is only incremental. Nextbit will solve this problem a new way – once again offering performance beyond just what the specs say.
We can apply the same intelligence we’ve used for smart storage towards making your battery last significantly longer. In Q4 we will launch a new version of Nextbit OS that gets to know your habits and optimizes functions at the system level to ensure you get the most screen time possible. Just like with smart storage, we can apply this on top of the features Google has implemented in Marshmallow and even on what has been announced for N, compounding the power savings to offer you true peace of mind.”

The #NextbitRobin has seen multiple discounts from online retailers like Amazon. The company also offered discounts from its official website for some countries. But if you found that your region was left out, the company is coming to your rescue. Nextbit has freshly announced that users who have their country listed on the company website (for shipping) can now get a $100 discount on the Robin as well. So as long as the Nextbit Robin ships to your source country, you are eligible for the $100 discount, bringing the cost of the phone down to $299. To add to this, the company is also offering standard shipping for free.
Here’s what the company said “We didn’t think it was fair that only fans in India and the US got to purchase Robin at a great price. So we’re lowering the price of Robin on Nextbit.com to $299 for everyone. As long as we ship there, you’ll get Robin at a great price. And to make the offer even sweeter, we made standard shipping free too.”
One of the most innovative new phones in recent memory, the #NextbitRobin can now be yours for $299. This is a smooth $100 discount on its original asking price. The deal comes from Amazon and the retailer might not have it up for long, so make sure you snatch it up while you still can.
The smartphone was crowd funded initially, which means that the manufacturers have made it specifically for the consumers and not to appease shareholders or investors. Keeping this in mind, the Nextbit Robin comes across as a viable alternative to most flagship smartphones that are available in the market today.
The company focuses on cloud services, with every unit of the Robin coming with 100GB of cloud storage for free. This is in addition to the 32GB of storage that comes underneath. The device is capable of cleverly managing the internal storage with the cloud to allow you some free space on the device.
In terms of hardware, you’re getting a 5.2-inch 1080p display, the hexa-core Snapdragon 808 chipset, a 13-megapixel camera on the back, a 5-megapixel front camera, 32GB of internal storage (non-expandable), 3GB of RAM, Android 6.0 Marshmallow and a 2,680 mAh battery.
The #NextbitRobin smartphone is now available for just $299 thanks to a deal on Amazon. This deal comes from Amazon’s Launchpad website which showcases products from up and coming startups, with Nextbit clearly being one of the bigger startups to have made a splash in the mobile industry.
Speaking more about the deal itself, this is $100 price reduction on the original asking price, which is quite decent given the hardware it comes with. What makes the Nextbit Robin special is the fact that it comes with a pretty fantastic storage system that merges the internal storage with the cloud, basically freeing up storage for the users when needed. In addition to the 32GB onboard storage, the company also offers 100GB of cloud storage for free. All this for a price of $299. Pretty sweet, right?
In addition to the storage features, the Nextbit Robin comes with a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 SoC, 3GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front camera, a 2,680 mAh battery and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow (as of recently).
