Earlier in the week Google’s Sr. Vice President of Mibile, Andy Rubin tweeted that Android activations were at 500,000 per day. This came in just over a month since it was reported that Android was at 400,000 activations per day at the Google I/O developer conference.
Naturally with that kind of growth in activations the number of Android application downloads grew as well.
Google’s Mobile Sales Director for Northern and Central Europe, Ian Carrington reported that Android apps have been downloaded 4.5 billion times.
“A year ago that was one billion, and that first billion took two years to happen. The last billion took 60 days” Carrington said.
As long as the activation growth continues on the same path Android App downloads will be at 10 billion in no time.
