Revealing How Far an Overclocked NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Can Go

GTX 780

The GeForce GTX 780 is a follow up to NVIDIA’s successful GTX 680. According to Anandtech, the graphics processing unit has a lower price than some of the major products of the company but it sure packs a lot of performance. This is actually evidenced by the overclocking test that the source conducted.

Overclocked Figures

Based on the results, the normal performance of the GTX 780 may not be able to match the performance of the GTX Titan but it is capable of surpassing the normal performance of the GTX Titan when overclocked. From the stock figures of the GTX 780, its overclocked performance can go for nearly 200MHz.

Check the table below for the comparison:

Game Testing

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 was tested among other GPUs like the GTX 690, GTX Titan, GTX 680, AMD Radeon HD 7990 and Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition.

The factors used in the comparison were the minimum frame rate with a graphics-maximized game, total system power consumption, temperature and load noise.

Then, the games used for the testing were current and popular ones that are known to eat much processing power and graphics like Shogun 2, Hitman: Absolution, Battlefield 3, Bioshock Infinite and Crysis , 3 plus a FurMark test was also used.

The Result

The overclocked GTX 780 was able to hold its position in the top 3 among the other GPUs tested in terms of minimum frame rate and load power consumption. However, its load noise level did not fare well on the FurMark. In addition, the overclocked GPU was poor in maintaining its temperature in the FurMark and while running the Battlefield 3 game. Lastly, the load power consumption factor was low during the operation of the Battlefield 3 game.

To sum it all up, there is definitely a big improvement in the performance of the overclocked GTX 780 that will surely please a lot of gamers out there.
