Fix some Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus issues after the Marshmallow update

The Android 6.0.1 #Marshmallow update for the #Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus (#S6EdgePlus) has recently been rolled out to the excitement of the owners. However, it seems to have brought more trouble than anything else because shortly after owners installed it, problems occurred. We actually received a lot of messages from our readers asking for help from us.


Below are just some of the problems we received. Continue reading to know more about them as well as learn the ways to fix and/or troubleshoot them. Click on the link to jump to a specific problem:

Edge features still pops up after being disabled

Problem: I sort of have 2 separate issues,  both on my screen.  The first one is that I particularly don’t Iike the edge features. So I disabled them all, however, at the far right side an edge screen still shows though. It was/is the strip for apps its totally empty of apps I just don’t want it to keep popping out EVERYTIME I tap on the right side.

My second issue is that on ANY keyboard I try using there are 3 spots on the right hand  side of the keyboards that just will not operate without much hard work on my part or not at all!!!

Let me see if I can explain briefly: the letter p won’t press,  the x (delete key) won’t work & I have to exit almost totally out to send anything from off the screen,  actually looking at the whole right side NONE OF THE far right side keys work well at al! Can you help a girl out at all? Thank you!

Answer: All these edge screens have the ON/OFF switch so you can enable or disable them at will anytime. If, however, they won’t be disabled even if you already turned them off, then it must be a glitch, a bug or a firmware issue. There’s one thing you need to try to see if it remedies your concern–wipe the cache partition.

You need to boot your phone and wipe the cache partition so system caches will be deleted. For features that don’t function the way they should, they’re often caused by some caches that got corrupted. Deleting these caches will make way for new files to be created. So, here’s how you wipe the cache partition:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, and Power key.
  3. When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
  4. When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  5. Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  6. Press the Power key to select.
  7. When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  8. Press the Power key to restart the device.

After the procedure, try disabling the edge. If the problem persists, I’m afraid you don’t have other options but to do the master reset and it seems you’re actually having some firmware-related issues because of the other concerns you told us. So, I suggest you take time backing up your data and then do the reset.

  1. Backup all your data or files.
  2. Remove Google account.
  3. Disengage screen locks.
  4. Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.
  5. Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys together.
  6. When the device powers on and displays ‘Power on logo’, release all keys and the Android icon will appear on the screen.
  7. Wait until the Android Recovery Screen appears after about 30 seconds.
  8. Using the Volume Down key, highlight the option, ‘wipe data/factory reset’ and press the Power key to select it.
  9. Press the Vol Down button again until the option ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted and then press the Power key to select it.
  10. After the reset is complete, highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and hit the Power key to restart the phone.

Screen stays off when Home and/or Power keys are pressed

Problem: When I try to unlock the screen with either the home button or the power button the screen won’t turn on but the other buttons light up. I tried wiping the cache and didn’t help. Also I got a green line going up and down the left side of it that apparently it’s hardware related cause it also appears when I turn off the phone.

Answer: Based on your description, it’s probably a hardware issue. I don’t know what happened to your phone but it seems like it’s a result of physical damage. You should have it checked as there’s nothing we can do about it.

Some recipients in group text get blank boxes, no message

Problem: I’m in a group message and one of my friends is getting subject lines in there messages received from me and another one of my friends is getting a blank box with nothing at all. Help! driving me mad!

Answer: This doesn’t concern your phone as the problem in on their end but tell them to make sure mobile data is enabled in their devices. Group texting is already considered MMS and mobile data is a requirement.

Unable to play music during call

Problem: It says when I try to play my mp3 music ‘unable to play during call.” I know it was all fine then I played around with my call settings try my music then it says that. So I think i did something to my call settings I just cant figure out what it was. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Answer: Well, just reset the Phone app to default settings by following these steps:

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to ‘APPLICATIONS,’ then tap Application manager.
  4. Swipe right to the ALL screen.
  5. Scroll to and tap Phone.
  6. Tap Clear cache.
  7. Tap Clear data, then OK.

Phone stays at 0% even after 30 minutes of charging

Problem: When I charge the battery for about 30 minutes, but still 0% then I removed the charge and recharge, than appear unable to recognize the fingerprint, until now I am not able to access when through Google or fingerprint. So, what do I need to do?

Answer: If the S6 Edge+ shows the usual charging icon and the LED indicator lights up when plugged in, there’s a chance the problem is caused by apps or other firmware-related issues. Try booting your phone in safe mode and plug it in while in that state:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down and Power keys for 20 to 30 seconds.
  2. Once you see the Samsung logo, release the Power key immediately but continue pressing the Volume Down key.
  3. Your phone should continue booting up and you will be prompted to unlock your phone as usual.
  4. You will know if the phone successfully booted in safe mode if the text “Safe mode” is displayed at the lower-left corner of the screen.

If it doesn’t charge in safe mode, then turn it off and try again and if still no, you need a technician to take a look at it.

“Unfortunately, has stopped” error

Problem: After I installed latest update on my phone. Marshmallow 6.0.1.Everytime I use camera or gallery appears this message: “Unfortunately, has stopped.”

Answer: Try clearing both the cache and data of the Camera and Gallery apps to see if it makes a difference. If not, then try downloading the app ‘Package Disabler Pro’ and just disable, or you can simply do the master reset.
