Samsung’s VP of the Mobile Division has confirmed the Galaxy Note 3 will make an appearance at IFA 2013 on September 4 and it seems the phone will not be released a few days later, as some rumours suggested.
In fact, it seems Samsung will hold off the release until September 27, three weeks after the Unpacked Event at IFA. This is odd for Samsung, who like to get their devices out quick after the launch to keep the hype train rolling.
The Galaxy Note 3 will take over the Note line as the flagship device and it is set to come with all the latest and greatest features, including the Snapdragon 800 CPU, 1080p display, 3GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage and 3540mAh battery.
The Galaxy Gear is expected to come out a little later than the Galaxy Note 3, possibly around mid-October. This will be the second smartwatch from a major manufacturer in the past six months, with Sony releasing the Smartwatch 2.
Prices for the smartphone and smartwatch are not set, but we believe the Galaxy Note 3 will come at $199 on contract and $679 off contract, Samsung likes to bump up the price of their phablets.
The Galaxy Gear may come for as cheap as $199, the question is does anyone want a Samsung smartwatch or did Pebble just get lucky with the excitement surrounding Kickstarters.
Samsung is definitely bringing a new smartphone to the Unpacked Event in IFA on September 4, from what we know, this new smartphone will be the Galaxy Note 3, the third phablet in the Note smartphone series.
With Samsung’s huge push to always get the stock delivered ahead of the month, new reports have said the Galaxy Note 3 will be available to pre-order on September 4, just a few hours after the event.
The full launch would happen a little later, one source says that week 36, mid-September, would be the ideal time for Samsung to launch the Galaxy Note 3. It is expected to be a worldwide launch, in the US, Europe and Asia.
Samsung is preparing to drop the 16GB model of the Galaxy Note 3 and may add a 128GB version. The Galaxy Note 3 is expected to have a 5.6-inch 1080p screen, Snapdragon 800/Exynos 5 processor, 3GB of RAM and 3300mAh battery.
As for the Galaxy Gear, the new smartwatch coming to IFA at the same event, the source says week 40 would be around the time this device launches, meaning Samsung will have the Galaxy Gear out before the iWatch, Apple’s reported smartwatch project.
We have already got a look at the internals and design of the Galaxy Gear from a leaked report on the smartwatch, it seems like a clever competitor to the Pebble and Sony Smartwatch 2, with lots of sensors.
