Galaxy Note 3 available for pre-order at AT&T for $299 on contract

AT&T has launched pre-orders for the Galaxy Note 3 first, with Verizon Wireless preparing to launch it sometime today and other carriers T-Mobile, Sprint and US Cellular preparing for a launch sometime in the coming weeks.

The Galaxy Note 3 comes at $299 on a two year contract, the same price the AT&T offered for the Nokia Lumia 1020. This is a little steep but for the latest and greatest phablet, it may be worth the extra $100. We may see price drops within the first few months, AT&T did this with the Nokia Lumia 1020.

For the $299 price tag with the two year contract, the Galaxy Note 3 does pack some impressive specs into the phablet phone. These include a 5.7-inch full HD AMOLED display, quad-core Snapdragon 800 or octa-core Exynos 5 CPU, 3GB of RAM, 16GB to 64GB storage options, 13MP camera, 3300mAh battery and Android 4.3 under TouchWiz.

Samsung has changed the design of the Galaxy Note 3 from a cheap plastic to faux-leather with plastic sides, designed to look like an aluminium notebook. From previous Samsung devices, the Galaxy Note 3 isn’t that bad, although it does not compare to something like the HTC One.

We may see the Galaxy Gear get thrown in with some special offer. In the UK at Phones4U, they will offer an £100 discount on the Galaxy Gear when the user pre-orders a Galaxy Note 3, quite a good deal.
