LG has said that this is not the end all to their Ice Cream Sandwich updates. They are still determining the compatibility of some of their other phones. There is no word on whether the U.S. variants of each of the named devices will get Android 4.0. They are the T-Mobile G2x (Optimus 2x), Sprint’s LG Marquee (Optimus Black) and the AT&T LG Thrill (Optimus 3D). Most likely all three U.S. variants will get Ice Cream Sandwich but we suggest you stay tuned to LG’s Facebook page here, to see if your phone will get the upgrade.

For those who bought the LG Optimus 2X, known as the G2x here in the U.S. on T-Mobile are in for a rude awakening as LG has announced that they can’t update that device to Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich. What’s worse is for international owners of the Optimus 2X they are still stuck on Froyo, Android 2.2.
You may remember that LG was quick to rush out the Optimus 2X and make it the first dual core smartphone, worthy of a Guinness Book of World’s Records entry. It wasn’t too far after that, that problems started being reported.
Despite it’s Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core architecture the phone has been prone to bugs including random reboots, factory data resets and not receiving signal in excellent coverage areas. The list went on in forums and there were rumors that went back and forth as to whether or not T-Mobile was pulling the device. For a short time they did pull it off their website but it quickly returned.

Some may remember a while back that there were rumors of another LG Optimus phone outside of the LG Optimus 1 and the LG Optimus 3D (Thrill), this was the LG Optimus Gelato. Now we’ve come to find, thanks to the nice folks at Android Central and CrackBerry, that the LG Optimus Gelato is the LG Optimus Slider. Of course it’s a safe assumption that slider means slide out qwerty keyboard.
There are no specs for this device, just this leaked Sprint Inventory screen obtained by Crackberry/Android Central showing that the device will come in both Midnight Blue and Purple.

One thing we’ve come to know over the years as mobile tech journalists as that T-Mobile throws some awesome parties. Despite the fact that T-Mobile’s future is uncertain tonight that tradition continued.
Although the Samsung Sidekick 4G, The LG T-Mobile G2x and the T-Mobile G-Slate all came out to retail today, T-Mobile still saw it fitting to throw two big bashes tonight, one in New York and the other in LA.
