Cube Introduces U9GT3 Cherry Tablet

Cube has an affordable new tablet option for those on a tight budget. It has recently introduced the U9GT3 Cherry, a tablet that packs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and retails for only $169.99 at the Ownta online store.

The U9GT3 Cherry features a Cortex-A9 processor running at the speed of 1.6GHz. It also comes with a full gigabyte of DDR3 RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Users who require more space, however, can insert a TF card that has a capacity of as much as 32GB. Its graphic processor is the Mali400 Quad-Core which has a 3D accelerator and carries support for both OpenGL ES 2.0/1.1 and OpenVG 1.1.

Its display, which measures 8 inches diagonally, is a capacitive 5-point in-plane switching touch screen with a resolution of 1024 by 768 pixels.

Unfortunately for photography enthusiasts, it has only one camera onboard: a front-facing camera with a 0.3-megapixel sensor that is useful for video chat.

Both Wifi 802.11b/g/n and 3G are supported by the tablet, the latter, only externally.

The ports on the tablet include a MIC port, 3.5mm Earphone Jack, TF Card slot, Micro-USB 5PIN, and DC-IN port.

It draws its power from a 4500mAh battery, which is said to offer around 5 hours of usage on a single charge.

Its dimensions are 201 x 155 x 9.59 mm whereas its weight is 465g. The tablet comes in two colors: black or white.

To entice buyers, Ownta is throwing in several free gifts for those who will purchase the U9GT3 Cherry tablet. These include a screen protector, a tablet case, as well as a Euro or UK Charger Adapter. There are also optional accessories which consumers may choose to purchase with the U9GT3 Cherry from the Ownta website, including a car holder, capacitive touch pen, Ethernet connector, TF memory card, and Bluetooth adapter.

Cube U9GT5 Tablet Has Retina-like Display And Jelly Bean

Want a tablet that combines the latest version of Android with a Retina-like display?  Perhaps Cube has a solution for you.

The China-based manufacturer has created the U9GT5 which boasts these two features. It sports a 9.7-inch display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and a pixel density of 264 ppi.

Apart from that, it comes with full access to Google Play and of course, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

For its processor, the device is packed with a less-impressive dual-core 1.6GHz RockChip RK3066 processor. Its ARM Mali 400 GPU, however, could help improve its graphics. Furthermore, the tablet comes with 1 GB of RAM and 8GB ti 16GB of storage capacity. Connectivity-wise, the U9GT5 offers both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Cube has not announced when the device will hit the market or how much it will cost. However, according to speculations, this tablet could retail for only $200 for the 8GB model.

While this may not be a very popular tablet, it is still worth noting how Chinese manufacturers are able to come up with devices that have a solid list of specifications at a low price. Feature-wise, it might not measure up to the mighty iPad, but it should provide images that are nice and sharp on its 9.7 inch display.

Among Android tablets, it is said that the tablet that comes the closest to the display specifications of the iPad is the Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 from Asus. Said tablet, however, only has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 on its 10.1-inch IPS display.

Months after the latest iPad’s release, there reportedly is no Android-based tablet yet that can measure up to the Retina display, not even from the large makers of Android-based devices such as Samsung and Asus, although some prototypes have surfaced.

Cube may not be a very popular maker of these slates, but as Android Community reports, it was in fact one of the first companies to release a tablet with a dual-core processor, thanks to the Rockhip RK3066.
