HTC not disappearing anytime soon says chairwoman

While most of them consider #HTC to be a sinking ship, the company’s chairwoman Cher Wang, thinks otherwise. In response to a report from a leading publication, Wang has defended the company and its future, firmly stating that they’re here to stay.

One would say this is quite an obvious response from the chairwoman, given the company’s recent misfortunes. However, HTC has strong faith in its upcoming product portfolio which includes the HTC Vive virtual reality headset as well as the slew of wearables that it plans to launch with fitness brand Under Armour.

There’s not much word available on the company’s upcoming flagship handset to succeed the One M9, but we’re guessing something big is in the works. The company announced the One A9 handset in September to gain some of the marketshare in the midrange segment and has been successful to a certain degree.

Do you think HTC will manage to get back up on its feet again?

HTC is seeing some major executive reshuffling with Peter Chou being replaced by Cher Wang as the CEO of the company. Wang was previously the President and was also part of HTC’s recent One M9 announcement along with Chou.

The reason for Chou’s departure is not known at the moment, but it seems like the company will use Chou’s expertise in other fields. He is all set to take over HTC’s Future Development Labs to get more involved in the design decisions of upcoming products.

As an entrepreneur at heart, I am excited to see so many new opportunities, and I am honored to accept this opportunity to help shape the next stage of HTC’s development,” Cher Wang said in a statement.

HTC was co-founded by Chou, Cher Wang and HT Cho in 1997, so they have been actively involved in the management of the company since then. It will be interesting to see if this will have any impact on future HTC products.
