Sony has launched so many Xperia devices in the year 2012 that I have personally lost a track of it. In 2013 as well Sony is gearing up to keep their Xperia lineup fresh with new launches. To start with, we have a lot of info about Sony Xperia Z and its rumored counterpart, the Sony Xperia X. Both the devices are expected to be launched in a few days at the upcoming CES 2013, one of the greatest events in the electronic world.
While Odin and Yuga have been rumored for quite a long time, we have reports on another Sony device that may be launched soon. We’re talking about a device that is known as Sony C530X, and is also referred to as “HuaShan”.
Benchmarks has always been a good way to find out upcoming devices, and are also a great source for rumors since benchmark entries can also be faked easily. Anyways, benchmark results of C530X device has been found on GLBenchmark database. Little is known about the device, but from the benchmarks, it looks like a mid-range handset of some kind. Speaking of details, a device with codename HuaShan has been tested recently – the C5303, which happens to be a tailored model for the Chinese market. In December, an EXIF data sheet on Picasa revealed a new mid-range model from Sony. The photo was apparently shot using Sony C5303 which was codenamed as “HuaShan” and according to various sources, the device is a part of C530x series with the C5302, C5303 and C5306 getting released in various parts of the world, and C5303 being exclusively made for China.
According to the latest benchmark entry, the device in question (C5303) seem to have a screen resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels with on-screen virtual buttons being used, just like how it works on latest Nexus devices. The device is reportedly using Android 4.1.2 as its operating system. Taking processor into consideration, the MSM8960 SoC seems to have been used, but then there’s also presence of Adreno 320 GPU which suggests that dual-core MSM8960T by Qualcomm is the power house of the device. Also, this SoC is capable of handling the Chinese cellular network, and it should also be noted that the same SoC is also being used on Chinese variant of Nokia Lumia 920, the Nokia Lumia 920T. As of now it isn’t clear which chipset will be used exactly in the European and U.S. versions of the Sony C530X.
These are the only details we have about C530X as of now, but we hope more details will emerge in the near future. Also, there is a possibility that the device will be unveiled at CES 2013. Sony seems to have some interesting stuff for us in the store this time. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the two 5 inch flagship models with 1080p HD display. The 530X sounds like a good mid-ranger. What are your thoughts on this? Let us know using the comment form below.
