Samsung to launch their experience store with Best Buy

A few weeks back we had reported that Samsung was planning to launch their own experience shops in US. These shops would be similar to the Apple stores found in the country which provided simple iOS experience to any customer who visited the shop. Apple stores are famous all around the world and Samsung was aiming to build a similar kind of dedicated store which would provide its customers with a pure galaxy experience.

These rumors were on the net for quite a while and now with the official announcement by the South Korean company, we can confirm these reports.

Samsung has finally teamed up with best buy retail chain to launch Samsung experience shops. Now, this would be a little different than the dedicate stores of other companies like Microsoft, Apple which are directly run by these companies but with the experience and the market reach of the best buy stores, Samsung is pretty confident that these stores will be a hit among customers.

But what will you get in the Samsung experience store?

These specialized stores will have a number of galaxy devices from the company along with their digital camera, smart TV lineup. So the customer who is looking for any kind of product from the South Korean company will get them at these specialized stores. They will also be most likely the first ones to get any new handsets from the company. Where the stores are large enouugh, Samsung employees will demonstrate various functions of their device along with its smart connect feature which connects all the devices in the area.

An excerpt from the announcement is given below:

“We look forward to showcasing Samsung products in the Samsung Experience Shop in all Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile locations. This is part of our Renew Blue transformation strategy – working closely with vendor partners to innovate and drive value, while also updating our stores to focus on growing and profitable categories,” said Shawn Score, head of U.S. Retail for Best Buy. “Our promise to our customers is simple: we’re committed to providing the best value, service and selection. Our partnership with Samsung on the Samsung Experience Shop is another way we’re delivering on that promise.”

These specialized stores will be managed by special consultants trained by the company along with certain best buy blue shirt associates who will help customers with problems as well as demonstrations. Basically these employees will be responsible for helping out the customer purchase a Samsung gadget of their choice, help them understand their device and finally support them throughout the life span of the device.

The company aims to launch 1400 such stores and already many of them are constructed with 900 of them launching this month. The other stores will be up by early summer. Also if you longing for the pure galaxy experience from Samsung, have a look at the Samsung experience store corner on the best buy website.

Best Buy reveals Verizon LG Spectrum 2, official unveiling may be on November 3rd

Best Buy recently listed in its website the rumored LG Spectrum 2 unveiling some information essential to knowing what the device is capable of and where it is heading when released. Among the information everybody can see are photos, initial specs, price, model number and the carrier that will offer it. Phone Arena reported the launch date may happen on November 3rd but no one can really be sure about it unless LG or Verizon confirms it.

On the product page, there are two photos showing the overall design of the smartphone. Unlike the first model that has rounded corners, Spectrum 2 has corners that are almost edgy making it looks like a perfect rectangle from afar. Also, it now has four capacitive buttons instead of three and apparently a bigger screen of 4.7 inches, although the 0.2 difference in screen measurement does not really make the device looks bigger. Overall, the device looks more elegant and professional; it’s something anyone might appreciate at first glance.

The specs listed by Best Buy suggest LG Spectrum 2 would be competing in the 4G market just like its predecessor. Considering Verizon’s aggressiveness in promoting its new infrastructure, this device is without a doubt going to be bundled with plans only a few could resist and be given the same treatment (or even better) as with Spectrum. Best Buy offers it for $649.99 but the shipping date hasn’t been disclosed yet.

LG Spectrum 2 gets a Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 chipset with dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. Since it uses Qualcomm’s SOC (system-on-chip), it will come bundled with Adreno graphics processor. To complement the CPU, LG gives Spectrum 2 1GB RAM and 16GB internal memory plus a microSD slot to support up to 32GB external storage. While LG is one of the companies Apple employed to manufacture iPhone 5’s in-cell display, such technology wouldn’t be seen in this device. Nevertheless, it sports a decent 720 x 1280 pixels resolution at around 312ppi density.

If you want to see the product page personally to learn more about it, find Best Buy’s link after the post. The information you can find on that page may change as LG hasn’t announced the official specs yet. But somehow, we know what to expect from it. Furthermore, if you are one of the owners of LG Spectrum under Verizon network, the ICS update is now available.

OUCH!! Unwired by way of Precentral is reporting today that the HP TouchPad could be breaking a record, but not a good record.  The HP TouchPad is reportedly selling so poorly that Best Buy is looking for a refund on some of the 270,000 TouchPad’s they ordered.

According to the report Best Buy has sold roughly 25,000 HP TouchPads. According to that source that’s even a liberal figure.

HTC Evo 3D & HTC Evo View 4G On Sprint No Rebate Required!

image

This summer is shaping up to be a hot one for the nation’s third largest carrier, Sprint. We were already expecting the HTC Evo 3D and the HTC Evo View 4G.  Yesterday we learned that Motorola will be adding at least the Photon 4G to Spring’s postpaid lineup.

Well the news reported by our good friends (and co-media sponsors of the https://androidhomecoming.com), Brief Mobile makes the summer even hotter than that!  According to the internal memo leaked by Brief Mobile, Sprint is extending their no mail in rebate trial until July 23, 2011.

Earlier this year Sprint started testing instant rebates instead of mail in rebates in hopes of retaining customers in their corporate retail locations who often opt to shop at a Sprint store and purchase at Best Buy. Best Buy doesn’t do mail in rebates on any phones with any carrier. Instead they do the rebate pricing as instant savings.

Of course there is typically the requirement that you sign up for a new two year contract.

The New Android Market Vs The Old

We reported late Friday night that the Android Market is making a major overhaul over the next couple of weeks. Eric Chu reporterd and outlined some of the major changes for the new Android market on the Android Developer’s Blog.

One of the things that struck a nerve was the new App download refund policy. Where we used to have 24 hours to evaluate an app purchase we now have 15 minutes. There were many great points made, including piracy, finishing a game and that the Apple App Store doesn’t allow any refunds at all.  We’ve decided that an hour should be sufficient time. Our arguments were always about user convenience, like for example if a Verizon or Sprint customer downloaded an app and then received a 20 minute phone call, the refund window is now gone.  For more on that argument click here…

Now we have the new Android market on one  our Samsung Galaxy Tabs and have decided to compare the two. The old market vs. The new. What do you think. Watch the video and you’ll see what we think.
