Alcatel One Touch View Windows Phone 7.8 smart phone revealed

Alcatel Lucent has found its love with Windows Phone a bit lately, because the company is thinking of entering the Windows Phone smart phone market now, when the space is filled with many main stream smart phone manufacturers with really high end devices. I guess the company knows pretty well that it will have to spend some time designing and engineering some low end models with the operating system before it can ring the high bell. So Alcatel Lucent is coming out with a budget, entry level Windows Phone smart phone which will run on the older Windows Phone 7.8.

The smart phone in question will be branded under the One Touch brand, and the smart phone is named the One Touch View. The One Touch View is not really very high on specs, but has enough to interest a casual user who wants to get used to the Windows Phone ecosystem before trying out a really expensive high end smart phone with the new Windows Phone 8 operating system.

The Alcatel Lucent One Touch View offers a 4 inch IPS LCD touch screen with WVGA resolution, something which will be enough for many casual users. And the smart phone runs on a Qualcomm MSM7227–ź SoC processor which is clocked at 1 GHz frequency, and is single core. The processor will not matter to many people who are only interested in having a smart phone which does a lot of things and makes it through the day without an additional recharge.

To help apps on the smart phone run smoothly, the One Touch View offers 512 MB of RAM, which is still a standard in entry level smart phones. The device has a 5 mega pixel camera on its back and a front facing VGA resolution camera for self portraits and video calling. The device has 4 GB of on board memory and comes with a thickness of 11 mm. To power up the whole system, the company is pairing it up with a 1,500 mAh battery.

The price of the device is still not certain, but an unlocked version without any contract is expected to be priced at around $250. Interested?
