Alcatel Showcases One Touch Tab8 HD Tablet At CES

There are already plenty of seven-inch tablets in the market today for various price ranges, but if that size is too small for you, then perhaps Alcatel’s eight-incher will be more suitable.

Named the Alcatel One Touch Tab 8 HD, the slate features an IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. Alcatel introduced the device during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

The Alcatel One Touch Tab 8 HD is driven by a dual-core 1.6GHz processor working with 1GB of RAM. Users get 8GB of built-in NAND flash memory, but they may opt to expand this through a microSD card for an extra 32GB. Joining the list of specifications is a 2MP rear-facing camera plus a VGA front-facing camera for video chat. It comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.

The tablet is expected to be priced at $179 and will hit stores during the second quarter of this year.

It is worth mentioning that these key specifications are the same as those found on the Alcatel One Touch Tab7 HD, except for the size of the display.

For those who are interested in an even more basic slate, Alcatel has the One Touch Tab 7. This tablet offers a 1GHz single-core CPU working alongside 1GB of RAM. It has 4GB of internal storage and the option to expand it for an additional 32GB through a microSD card. The tablet costs $130.

Alcatel’s product lineup that it showcased during CES also includes the One Touch Evo 7 HD, which has similar specifications with the HD tablets. However, it has an option for users to avail of an additional mobile data module. This tablet, for its part, will have a price tag of $249. Meanwhile, a model packing support for 4G LTE that will retail for $349 will also be released.
