Sony officially unveils the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact

Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact

The Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact hasn’t been a secret to us with leaks giving us a good idea of the tablet ahead of the expected announcement. Fortunately, we no longer have to come across sketchy leaks as the tablet has been finally announced in Berlin earlier today. As expected, the device is simply a smaller version of the Xperia Z2 Tablet, packing an almost identical hardware inside.

The Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact has an 8 inch display packing a 1080p resolution, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 chipset, an 8.1-megapixel camera on the back, a 2.2-megapixel front camera, IP65/IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, Android 4.4.2 KitKat and a 4,500 mAh battery. Sony will also sell a 4G LTE version of the tablet along with the standard WiFi model.

The device uses relatively slim front bezels and the display has an aspect ratio of 4:3, making it one of the best looking 8 inch tablets in the market. Design wise, it’s pretty much the same as every Sony device we’ve seen over the past year, so there’s nothing new in that regard. The company hasn’t clarified pricing details for the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact yet, but it shouldn’t surpass $500 considering the hardware on offer.
